Prequel- 2008

Queens

7-year-old Maddie Flint was happily building random things with her neighbour/friend Peter Parker. Maddie's mom Sophia had taken on a double shift so Peter's aunt May said that Maddie was more than welcome to hang out in their apartment which also gave her 7-year-old nephew someone to play with as he was still adjusting to living with her after losing his parents.

May Parker had been channel surfing when a familiar theme song started to play, this caused two sets of feet to start running down the short hallway towards the living room/tv, May laughed and held her hands up "I'm going, I'm going".

Maddie and Peter happily sat on the floor in front of the tv and sang along "what's new Scooby-Doo? we're gonna solve that mystery" May laughed even more as she watched the kids from the kitchen area.

The picture changed and both kids groaned which caused May to turn around to see what had happened "what happened kiddos?" May walked over and thought the kids had accidentally changed the channel in their excitement for their favourite show. Peter pointed to the tv "he came on, where's Scooby-Doo?" Maddie tilted her head "May, what's an Iron Man?".

May tried to change the channel but the same thing was being broadcasted on all the channels, ~ Breaking News ~ Stark CEO announces- 'I AM IRON MAN". May sighed and turned off the tv "sorry kiddos, looks like the news is more important than Scooby and the gang." The kids groaned and headed back down the hallway towards Peter's room so they could go back to building with their Legos.

May turned the tv back on "huh, Tony Stark is Iron Man, interesting."

A few hours later there was a knock at the door, May smiled "Maddie that will be your mom, grab your bag sweetie" May opened the door "Hey Sophia" Sophie faintly smiled "Hi May, was she any trouble?" May shook her head "never is, they got upset when the breaking news interrupted Scooby-Doo." Sophia laughed and spotted Maddie "How dare they take off Scooby, huh" Maddie nodded "it was bad mommy really bad". Sophia thanked May once again and offered to have Peter over one day for a play if May ever needed some alone time.

Manhattan

Pepper shook her head at her boss "that was definitely not written on the cards, Tony." Tony just shrugged it off "Now there is no need to hide and have alibies written out all the time, I see this as a win-win situation." Pepper nodded "and everyone else will see it as a new target, just what the company needs right now" Tony just smiled at her "bye Pep."

He waved as he walked out the front doors with Happy in tow. Happy drove off towards, Tony looked over at him "are you going to yell at me as well Happy?" Happy glanced over "Why would I, my boss has just made my job as head of his security much harder why would I be upset." Tony nodded "that is a fairly good point; however, now that I am publicly out as Iron Man, I will be able to protect everyone." Happy nodded "Yes Tony as I continue to watch your back" Tony nodded "absolutely, wouldn't have it any other way, old friend."

They arrive at the Stark residence only to find 2 guys inside already, Tony thought it was strange as JARVIS had not informed them that someone had clearly broken into the house, Tony motioned for Happy to stand down "Can I help you gentlemen?" one of them Tony recognised at the SHIELD Agent Pepper had been talking to moments ago, the other one was wearing a long black leather jacket and an eyepatch "Tony Stark, I'm Director Nick Fury, it seems you have pushed up our meeting."

After hours for discussions and negotiations, Tony had ignored them by saying that he did not want join as it had been SHIELD who he partly blamed for the murder of his parents and did not want anything to do with them.

Agent Coulson nodded "we can understand that Mr Stark, however when you get your own house in order and decide you want our help/resources along with your own do let us know". Tony raised his eyebrow "my house in order, what are you talking about Agent Coulson?" Coulson slid a brown folder towards Tony "some pleasure reading for you I'm sure." Fury and Coulson left the very baffled and confused Tony and Happy.

Happy took the file as he knew his boss did not like being handed things "erm Tony, this is bad, you are going to need to read this", Tony took the file out of Happy's hands "it can't be that bad Happy". The file read that SHIELD had been keeping close tabs on Tony since his birth as he was a Stark and all his escapades had been noted, but the one that had been highlighted was: Sophia Flint December 2000, 8 months after her relations with Tony Stark, Miss Flint gave birth to a premature but healthy baby girl, a DNA test was run to determine paternity of the child and it confirmed:

Mother's Name: Sophia Flint

Father's Age: 30

Tony nodded "yeah your right Happy that is bad, HOW was I not aware of this? For crying out loud I HAVE A CHILD" Happy held his hands up "Tony, calm down, we will figure it all out, no one has come to me or Pepper claiming to have given birth to your child, let us investigate in house and see what conclusion we come up with as well." Tony nodded and pointed at Happy "I like that idea very much, do it."

Queens

2 months later

Sophia Flint just stared at the piece of paper in her hands "How sure are you that this is real? I will fully admit I do not know who the biological father of my daughter is." Pepper nodded "as it might be Miss. Flint, as this has been given to us with good intentions, and Mr Stark believes to cover all bases he would like for us to do our own DNA test, to see if that piece of paper is real or fake." Sophia nodded and looked up at Pepper "What will happen if this is real and Tony Stark is Madison's father, I will not let anyone take my daughter away from me, no matter who they are."

Pepper faintly smiled "Mr Stark would never do that, if the papers are correct and Madison is in fact his daughter, he would like what every father wants to be in his daughter's life and for him to be able to get to know her, with your conditions of course if you have them." Sophia nodded "Why don't we do the test first then we can cross that bridge once we get to it."

Sophia walked out of Maddie's bedroom holding the 7-year-old by the hand "Maddie sweetie this is Pepper Potts, she's going to help us figure something out." Maddie nodded "Hi I'm Maddie" Pepper smiled "it's nice to meet you, Maddie." Pepper handed an envelope to Sophia "all the instructions on where to go are in here and as we are doing it privately it will only take a few hours for the results to get back." Sophia nodded "those will be quick results."

A day later Sophia was sat in a private room with Maddie on her lap while a person swabbed her mouth, Sophia was comforting Maddie "you are being such a brave girl." The person nodded and left the room, Sophia smiled and face Maddie to her "see all done, ice cream?" Maddie smiled "Yes please" Sophia looked at the mirror that was in the room, she knew it was a 2-way mirror and that Tony Stark was standing on the other side of it wondering just like she was if Maddie was his daughter.

Sophia and Maddie walked into the diner, Maddie pulled her mom over to a booth that had her friend Peter and his aunt in. May waved at them "hi girlies, how did it go?" Sophia sighed "it went well, she was so brave now we just wait for a phone call I guess"

Sophia and May caught up with each other while Peter and Maddie happily chatted away about school, Scooby-doo, and ice cream flavours. Time went past like usual, Sophia felt she could finally breathe because clearly there had been a mistake and Maddie was not Tony Stark's child, they all headed back to their apartment building and went into their separate apartments but when Sophia and Maddie walked inside theirs, there was a trio waiting for them.

Sophia held on to Maddie's hand "so I guess the results came back then." Tony nodded "Hello Sophia." Sophia took Maddie into her room as she did not want her daughter being a part of this conversation. Sophia came back and sat down opposite Tony "so, where do we start then?"
