Guys, I think it's okay for you to go home. It's pretty late and you still got work tomorrow. Chandler told his friends.
But we have not seen Monica and the baby. Phoebe objected.
I know. But you've all been up all night. You can always drop by anytime you're free. I can assure you, Monica's fine and my son looks like me. Chandler jokingly said.
What?! everyone jokingly protested.
No. He's gorgeous just like his mother. Chandler said.
Wait, what are you gonna call him?
I'll let Monica tell you tomorrow.
Chandler lied awake on the couch by the bed facing the door. He was waiting for Monica to be brought to the room. He thought about how agonizing the last few hours had been. He was so scared he wouldn't be able to make it beside her as she delivered their boy. His three-hour flight from Tulsa felt like forever and the cab ride to the hospital felt like eternity.
Chandler always knew Monica is brave and independent but there's something about the way Monica looks at him that makes his heart full, happy, thrilled. He was laughing as he remembered the times Monica would seduce him as if he needed to be seduced. And just a few hours ago, the way her face changed from frightened, pained, worried to relief, joy, love upon knowing that he made it.
Monica was half-asleep when she was brought back to the room. Chandler immediately went to her side and tucked her in. Next to be brought in was his little boy, Baby Bing no. 2, Baby Jack Bing as it read on his tag around his right ankle. They have agreed to name their boy, Jack, after Monica's father. He held back in suggesting a second name like he did with Daniel. He was listening in his head how the name would sound - Jack Twain Bing, Jack Bradbury Bing, Jack Fitzgerald Bing… but figured Jack Bing sounded perfect.
He took him from the nurse, carrying his boy in his arms and he was getting emotional all over again. He felt like he can never get used to that overwhelming feeling of joy. He and Monica have made another boy, definitely out of love and not a product of Merlot and a 5-year-old condom. Chandler laughed at the recollection of that night he doubted his ability to be a father. Not that he is so confident now. It's just that fatherhood has given him a sense of fulfillment no other experience can ever give him.
Chandler? he heard Monica call.
He approached Monica with their little boy in his arms. He leaned over giving her a kiss on the forehead. She leaned her head towards him savoring the kiss. "I'm sorry!" she said eyes still closed.
Chandler leaned once again giving her another kiss on the head to say that there was nothing to be sorry about.
Chandler handed their son over to Monica then pressed the button that elevated the head part to get her into a Fowler's position. There was one thing they were not able to do after she gave birth - to check their son's features and look for birth marks. Monica was too tired to do that that she fell asleep almost immediately after hearing her son cry.
Chandler handed her a pillow and covered it with a blanket they brought for the baby. Monica carefully placed their son on the pillow and started removing the cloth that is wrapped around their son. Watching Monica as a mother is always fascinating, mesmerizing even.
Wow! Monica said smiling her tears falling down her cheeks.
Wh-why?
Baby Jack looks exactly like you! Brown hair and that cute little nose!
Are you crying because he looks like me? he teased his wife.
Of course not! He is adorable just like his father! she said as she turned to him for a kiss on the lips.
Oh, I just can't believe we have made another cute little boy. Monica said while looking adoringly at her son as she breastfeeds.
I know! I can't wait for the day when we will be right here again looking at a baby girl! Chandler thought he was just thinking it but was surprised that he has whispered it out into Monica's ear.
We are so weird! Monica replied for she knew Chandler was turned on watching her breastfeed. Weird because, she felt the same way. She should be feeling anything but turned on after all the pain, all the sweating and all the blood associated with giving birth, not to mention not being able to take a shower yet, but knowing that her husband is turned on despite all of those, turns her on, too.
Chandler transferred his sleeping son in a bassinet then sat beside Monica on the bed.
I'm really sorry I let you worry. Monica told Chandler.
I'm sorry I took so long. he said looking into her eyes. How are you doing that?
What? she asked.
How do you manage to make me fall in love with you every single day? he asked caressing her hair.
Well, you make me fall in love every single minute, Mr. Bing. Chandler leaned over for a kiss. He had intended it to be a brief smack on the lips but like always, when she starts to kiss back, he just couldn't resist.
His wife is not wrong when she says they are weird - weird for feeling so horny just hours after having their second son.
I've got a surprise for you! Chandler said as he ran towards his bag and grabbed an envelope.
What's this?
Those are pictures of the apartment in Tulsa and everything that you have written down in your list.
Wow, honey, is this a three-bedroom apartment? Can we afford this? She asked looking at him.
Of course, we can! My company's paying. But the furniture and other furnishing, we have to pay.
These are really nice furniture, honey.
You didn't need to sound so surprised. You know your husband has great taste!
Right!
So, you ready to do this? Chandler looking for doubt in his wife's face but saw none.
Yes. Just one thing.
What is it?
How are we gonna tell our friends? And Mom and Dad?
Now that's a real pickle.
Their friends arrived for a visit all at the same time around lunch time. Rachel is still on maternity leave, Joey's and Phoebe's schedules are free that day. It was only Ross that they waited at the coffee house after he finished his class that morning.
How are The Bings? Joey said when he opened the door to Monica's room.
Sssh Monica gesturing to her friends to be quiet. Chandler and Jack are sleeping.
Their friends all looked at the couch where Chandler was and on top of him was his son sleeping on his chest.
Oh my God, Mon. Your son looks like a mini Chandler! Oh, and you're calling him Jack! Rachel said.
I know. I just took pictures of them like that…Ross, we named him after Dad. Monica said who was still holding her camera which she remembered to bring.
You took pictures? Oh, I'm so jealous!
Well, we were not able to take pictures of Daniel on the day he was born so this time, we packed this camera along with the things we need to bring this time around... Oh, by the way, Rache, where's Emma?
My mother insisted for for us to stay for another week.
What are you doing here then? Monica asked.
Well, I wanna be here with you. I don't wanna miss being with you when you give birth to baby Jack Bing. Rachel said as she reached in for a hug with Monica. Then Ross, Phoebe and Joey joined, too and they all looked at Chandler and Jack who couldn't join the hug at that moment.
So, you're doing okay, Mon? You scared me. Ross told his sister.
You scared us! Phoebe corrected him.
I know, guys. I'm really sorry.
It's okay. We're just glad and relieved that you are more than okay. Just don't do that again. Ross said giving her sister a kiss on the forehead.
But thank you for staying. It really means a lot to both Chandler and I.
Oh what is this? Phoebe asked upon finding the envelope that Chandler brought from Tulsa.
Phoebe browsed each photo - You're looking for a new apartment? You're moving?
Ahhhmmmm. Monica was at a loss for words.
Well? Ross, Rachel and Joey said as they waited for an answer.
