Hi, guys! I find it kind of crazy that the last update was six years ago. I find it even crazier that I still get notifications sometimes about new people following this story. And I um… well, I feel really bad about leaving this unfinished, but I'm not even sure that I'd be able to write in the same style that I used to back then. So I found my old notes the other day, and I figured I'd write up a little summary about what was going to happen next, if you were curious? The next few chapters will be some disjointed snippets that I wrote six years ago while I was planning the end-game for the story.
The rest of Fifth Year:
- Sirius does NOT turn into a werewolf.
- James, Sirius, Remus, and Peter officially coin the "Marauders" and get the hang of their transformation powers. They work on the Marauders Map to help them sneak out to visit Remus during full moons. No girls allowed.
- Avery dates Jamie, which annoys James (who hates Jamie because their names are similar) and Sirius (who is trying to figure out why he is jealous. Spoiler: He's starting to have a crush on Avery).
- Professor Accurso is secretly working for Voldemort. He pits the students against each other to figure out which ones are the strongest (so he can recruit them to join the Death Eaters).
- "Catherine" (Ember), Penny, and Artemisia form a secret illegal tutoring society to combat Accurso's harmful practices. It's pretty much a reworked version of Dumbledore's Army from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
- James and Melissa are still dating. Krystal asks Lily if this bothers her. It doesn't, but it does make Lily notice that the Marauders are acting strangely. Krystal and Avery get Lily to join the secret tutoring group to distract her.
- James has been too busy with the animagi thing to study for DADA, and Jamie beats him in a duel. They fight privately after class, and someone overhears about the secret group. Accurso tries to catch them, but "Catherine" learned from the mistakes made by Dumbledore's Army and keeps everyone safe.
- Accurso low-key tortures some students "for teaching purposes" to try to regain control. "Catherine" snaps and stands up to his bullying. Penny, Artemisia, and some of the tutored kids also back her up. Accurso threatens to expel them, but then he changes his mind to detention. (He decides he is going to brainwash them for Voldemort or something, idk)
- Krystal and Avery resolve to save Ember by breaking into Accurso's office. They find conclusive proof that he is a Death Eater. They accidentally trigger a trap, but the Marauders use the Map to bail them out (James felt guilty or something. Lily notices and starts to change her opinion of him)
- Accurso is arrested by the aurors, everybody takes their OWLs, the end.
- Sirius spends the summer with James' family from now on. Regulus secretly reaches out to Tobi for help, but her hands are tied (Sirius refuses to talk to her anymore because of the incident last summer where she broke him out from house arrest to watch Jaws. When she provoked his parents, their physical abuse towards Sirius dramatically escalated).
- As a nice foil, Severus spends the summer being groomed by baby Death Eaters. Tobi is out of the country, so she isn't there to be his conscience.
- Oh, and Voldemort is attacking people in the background this whole time
Sixth Year
- I have in my notes that Tobi "dies." I can't remember what that means, sorry folks. (She's not really dead or anything.)
- "Catherine" works in the owlery, so she finds out a lot of news about Voldemort attacks in the background.
- James and Melissa break up. James is irritable and immature, and anyway there's more to a successful relationship than quidditch. James also enjoys being Lily's 'friend.'
- Sirius is very messed up from confrontations with his family/ other Death Eater affiliates. James is a jerk. As a result, their pranks shift into undisguised bullying, and they really pressure Remus and Peter to join them. Remus is so desperate to keep up his new connection with them that he complies.
- Krystal convinces Peter to hang out with Avery and Krystal instead for a while. James verbally abuses him in private until he gives in and rejoins the group. After this, Peter avoids Avery and Krystal.
- Tobi reveals that on her summer trip, she visited an aunt in America and happened to see a missing person's poster with a picture of pre-teen "Catherine." With the help of Penny and Artemisia, the three managed to find the "real" family of "Catherine." While curious, Ember does not make contact.
- Severus hates that Lily is being friendly with James. Lily points out that James stopped Accurso from hurting her friends, Severus points out that James hurts many others. They have the famous fight where he calls her a mudblood. This officially ends their friendship, although it had been dying for a while.
- Severus spends even more time with baby Death Eaters. Tobi tries to convince him to stop. Severus tells her to mind her own business. Tobi is unwilling to give up her longtime crush on Severus, though, so she is very persistent.
- The Marauders still won't let Krystal or Avery join. Lily is upset about their bullying and that she had to cut Severus out of her life. They form the "Anti-James Club," which a lot of people join.
- James is upset that Lily is back to hating him. There's a big confrontation where James says he's been a jerk because he's protecting Sirius (and Remus). Everyone finds out just how badly Sirius had been abused. Krystal innocently wants to forgive their behavoir due to trauma, but Avery points out that it's just continuing the cycle. Besides, James is an obnoxious spoiled rich boy.
- Severus tries to win Lily back by "proving" how bad the Marauders are. He follows them to the Whomping Willow, where Sirius tries to get him killed. James saves Severus, which completely convinces Lily that James actually is a good person at heart.
- The gang go to see Star Wars in the theater over the summer
Seventh Year
- Julian (Tobi's older brother) drops Tobi and Morpheus (her younger brother) off at the train station. While there, Tobi boasts about her 'siren powers' (she's ¼ Veela) to Severus, "Catherine," and Sebastian. She refuses to use her powers on Severus (due to her crush on him), so she attempts to seduce James to prove that she's not lying.
- Julian interrupts this exchange, due to their mother banning "them" from using their powers. Severus refuses to believe that boys could have the powers. Julian eventually gives in and mesmerizes Avery, Krystal, and "Catherine." "Catherine" is confused/ sick/ embarrassed, so she promptly flees to the train.
- Avery and Krystal misread Ember's distress: they believe she is scared of forming emotional attachments. They start a running subplot where they try to get Ember a boyfriend. Meanwhile, Penny and Artemisia try to research how a boy could inherit Veela powers.
- To get away from them all, Penny convinces "Catherine" to join the Ravenclaw quidditch team as a beater (since she played baseball irl and learned cricket from the kids in the orphanage).
- James' change of behavior at the end of the previous year leads to him somehow becoming head boy. He tries really hard to impress Lily. The hostility between them and Slytherins ramps up on both sides. Everyone is fixated on graduating and fighting the war.
- Susan lays eggs, which hatch into both ducklings and dragons. This further confuses Severus, who thought Susan was a teacup. Hagrid helps smuggle Susan into the Forbidden Forest to raise her young.
- Over Christmas break, "Catherine" goes to visit Tobi's family. Julian tries to apologize for earlier. "Catherine" tells him that it's not his fault: she's ace, so she freaked out when he compelled her to feel romantic attraction. He's even more upset and embarrassed, but she forgives him.
-Julian reveals that he has powers because he is trans: he was born Julia, but his family worked out some big spell to make everyone at Hogwarts forget (Hogwarts is definitely not supportive to LGBT+). He doesn't use his powers because he's scared someone will find out about it.
- Avery and Krystal get permission from Dumbledore to host an American style "prom" to distract people from the recent deaths. "Catherine," Penny, and Artemisia take over most of the planning.
- Meanwhile, Avery helps Lily get together with James. Avery has a lot of lingering attraction towards Sirius (who likes her back, although he hasn't told her yet). However, she knows that Krystal still has a HUGE crush on Sirius, so she tries to hook them up instead. But Remus has a crush on Krystal, so Peter gets them together first.
- Severus is still not over Lily, so Tobi concocts a plan to make Severus jealous by pretending to date Sebastian. Tobi is Severus' last real friend, so he doesn't want to lose her. But he's also trying really hard to impress his new baby death eater friends.
- Everybody takes the NEWTs. Surprise, James is smarter than he looks!
- Avery can't go with Jamie to the prom (he's in the band or something), so she goes with Sirius. Sirius tries to say that he likes her, but she doesn't believe him and reminds him that she has a boyfriend. James and Lily finally confess that they like each other. The longer she spends with Remus, the more Krystal is conflicted – Did she like Sirius, or Remus?
- Tobi and Severus show up together, but it becomes clear that Severus only came to spy on Lily. They have a big fight, and Tobi finally realizes that she can't stop Severus from becoming a Death Eater. They have a relationship-ending fight.
- "Catherine" (who hates proms and dates) surprises everyone when she shows up with Sebastian. Turns out they were there for moral support for Tobi because they worried the night wouldn't end well. Sebastian admits that he actually likes Tobi. Tobi realizes that maybe she likes him back.
After Hogwarts
- "Catherine" and Avery become aurors, while Krystal goes to work at the Ministry of Magic. Dumbledore lets most of the cast into the Order of the Phoenix (which Tobi swears was named after her family).
- James and Lily get married, Lily gets pregnant. Avery and Krystal begin to panic about Peter's upcoming betrayal. They try their best to manipulate the timeline so that it never happens.
- Tobi hunts down Severus (who has become a Death Eater). She warns him about the prophecy concerning the Potter's death, although she refuses to say how she found out. Instead, she gives him a magic spell that will allow him to fake someone's death, and tells him that he can use it to save his precious Lily. He almost refuses it, but she says she's "tying up loose ends" and that he "won't see her again."
- A few days later, the Death Eaters kill Tobi during a battle with the Order of the Phoenix. Avery accuses Ember of not being upset enough. Ember says that if she lets herself cry over this (or any of the other atrocities), she will completely lose it and be useless for the rest of the war.
- Lily has her baby, and they move into hiding. Avery and Krystal make James promise not to make Peter the secret keeper, but he does it anyway without them knowing. Lily hesitates, though, and makes Krystal secret keeper as well.
- Thomas Jones gets killed in an attack on the ministry, which emotionally wrecks Krystal and Avery.
- Severus finds out that he won't be able to attend when they kill Lily, so he hunts down Peter and makes him swear to use the fake spell instead. However, Peter is intercepted by Krystal, who was waiting for his arrival. Their long friendship means he pretends to kill her instead, which means he isn't in the room in time to save Lily.
- Avery finds out that James, Lily, and Krystal had died despite all their efforts. She calls Remus (who is away on Order business, so he didn't know about the secret keeper switch) and tries to convince him of Sirius' innocence. While he eventually believes that Sirius isn't the killer, he still can't believe that Peter would ever hurt Krystal.
- Avery uses a tracking spell to hunt down Sirius and confront him. She tries to convince him to turn himself in so that they can both explain that Peter is the actual guilty one, but Sirius is determined to kill Peter for himself. They both get into a huge fight.
- A large group of aurors close in on them, and Sirius mistakenly assumes that Avery was stalling for backup and trying to capture him for real. He blindly tries to kill "Catherine," but Avery blocks him, and he ends up shooting her so that he can escape. Once he finds out that he pretty much killed Avery, he turns himself in and lets himself be sent to Azkaban.
- Avery is taken to a hospital, comatose and near death.
- Krystal wakes up in the morgue to find a confused Tobi waiting for her. Tobi explained that she found the spell so that she could fake her own death (she was pregnant and needed a breather). However, she pitied Severus and gave it to him, as well, knowing that he would keep its existence secret.
- Both Krystal and Tobi come to terms with the fact that Lily is actually dead. While sneaking out, they bump into "Catherine," who came to identify Krystal's body. They find out from her that Avery is probably going to die and that Sirius is going to jail.
- Krystal breaks into the Ministry and steals an illegal book of magic. She then convinces "Catherine" to steal some hair from a fellow auror so that the two of them can enter Saint Mungo's without raising any suspicious.
- "Catherine" guards the door while Krystal tries a time-reversal spell on Avery. However, it doesn't seem to have enough power to work. Ember has a more powerful wand, so Krystal comes out to convince Ember to try. Ember freaks out and refuses (she thought Krystal was just there to see Avery, not do weirdo magic on her). Krystal finally convinces her to at least loan her wand.
- In her desperation, Krystal used too much of the potion-y components. And since Ember's wand is both powerful and really mean (it has a mind of its own and sometimes messes up spells on purpose even when wielded by its real owner), Avery accidentally gets shrunk into a toddler. Ember panics, and she demands that Alex (the magic book) take them out of the story.
- Ember, Krystal, and Avery all wake up in Ember's attic from the very first chapter of the fanfiction. Avery demands to know what happened, and Krystal starts sobbing because Avery is okay. They both get kind of mad that Ember had this power all along, but Ember points that Krystal and Avery never would have wanted to leave before that point.
- Ember then yells at Alex, which points out that they knew the story didn't end well but picked it, anyway. Ember asks if dying in the book meant dying in real life. Instead of answering, Alex says that he made sure Krystal wouldn't die, and that Ember would have successfully shielded Sirius' attack if Avery hadn't jumped in the way.
- Ember's mom calls something to them, and they realize no time has passed. They get freaked out and hide Alex, not sure what to do next.
The Sequel Series (This is the start of the next story after MMM, placed during the actual Harry Potter books)
- Sometime later, Avery wants to go back into the book to finish the story (she can't remember anything that happened in Saint Mungos). Alex promises that Avery was fine, and that 'Krystal had found a workable solution' (although not what it was). Ember and Krystal only agree because Ember has the power to pull the plug again.
- Back in the story, baby Avery starts crying. Ember suddenly remembers her fake family in America. Since the Whitleys have never met Ember, and both girls have brown hair, she convinces Krystal to pose as "Catherine Whitley" and leave the country while they figure out how to fix Avery.
- Krystal borrows Ember's documents as "Catherine" and pretends that Avery is her daughter. She renames Avery to "Emma" (after Ember). She stays with the Whitley family in Iowa until she turns eighteen, then she moves to New York to be closer to England (now claiming to be Krystal "Whitney"). Ember keeps them updated and resumes the "Catherine Whitney" title. Emma thinks Ember is her aunt.
- Meanwhile, Ember has been helping track down missing Death Eaters and trying to find evidence to exonerate Sirius. She tells Tobi that Voldemort isn't actually dead and that the Ministry will be corrupted, so Tobi agrees to remain "dead" to help her off the books. Also, Tobi and Sebastian have twins at some point.
- Once Sirius "killed" Avery, Remus saw this as proof that Sirius also killed Krystal, James, Lily, and Peter. Ember tries talking to him once, but doesn't really know her enough to trust her, so Ember never tells him that Krystal and Avery are still alive (she doesn't think he will believe her).
- Krystal falls in love with an American wizard named Michael Walker, and they marry when "Emma" is around five. Emma lost her memories when she was de-aged, so she legitimately thinks that Krystal and Michael are her parents for most of the sequel series.
- Eventually, Michael dies of some sort of magic thing. Idk, the sequel wasn't very well thought out yet, okay? Ember figures it is safe for Krystal to return to England. When "Krystal Walker" returns, she has Avery renamed to "Emma Jones" so she can access Thomas' inheritance, but she can't bring herself to change her own last name.
- "Emma" attends Hogwarts in the same year as Fred and George. She eventually falls in love with and dates George. Dumbledore finds Krystal's return very suspicious, but he doesn't really suspect anything weird about Avery.
- Basically, Ember and Krystal do all sorts of crazy stuff in the background to make sure that Harry (and Neville) live, while "Emma" basically acts the same comedic way Avery did in the first series. Tobi's kids do weird stuff, Tobi and Sebastian do weird stuff.
- Krystal gets very tired of waiting, and now that "Emma" is safe, she runs off to break Sirius out of Azkaban. Ember convinces Krystal to keep up the lie that "Emma" is her daughter by Michael, so that Sirius won't be tempted to try to find (and potentially endanger) Avery while she's still young and can't remember him.
- This has the unintended effect of Sirius kind of low-key crushing on Krystal, who is less naive and more kick-butt-for-my-friends in the same way that Avery used to be. Krystal is disillusioned, though, because her older perspective finally allows to see Sirius' flaws, and not just the character she fangirled over. She is still his friend and wants to help him through his trauma, but she wouldn't marry him or anything.
- When Remus comes to teach at Hogwarts, he totally freaks when he meets "Emma." He finds out that Krystal is alive and never told him. Also, "Emma" claims to be two years older than would make any sense. How did Krystal hide having a baby while in sixth or seventh year? She's not adopted because she looks just like Krystal's "twin." Avery always looked younger than she was, so it probably would have made sense to just enroll her with Harry, but blame the magical enrollment invitation I guess.
- The story didn't get planned much further beyond this point. Sirius was probably still going to die, but maybe not under the same circumstances. I was going to write him as kind of unhinged, reverted in a childhood-like mindset due to all the abuse he suffered. He may or may not have confused Harry for James at some points, much to everyone's alarm.
- Remus and Krystal probably end up together? Maybe? Tonks was way too young for him. Remus will live in the end, anyway, because he has friends who would literally kill everyone for him.
- Avery does eventually regain her memory, but she choses to wipe it again so she can stay with George.
- We would find out at some point that Tobi was actually a real person once, the same as Ember, Krystal, and Avery. Alex would tell you that she had died in real life, but she had spent so much time in the book reliving other people's stories that she left a ghost of herself behind. It's implied that at least some of the other original characters were also real people once, but I forget which ones. None of the main cast, because the longer someone is dead, the more their ghosts fade. Tobi lived in the house before Ember died, and when she committed suicide irl, her family found it too painful to stay. This is why Tobi recognized Alex in one of the earlier chapters (It's been like seven years, so I forget exactly when, but you can go back and see the encounter)
Well, that's about it, I think. Everyone gets a fairly happy ending except for like, all of the Death Eaters. Enjoy some random scenes I found!
