Driving a truck through a building in the country wasn't the same as driving down a highway. They would likely get themselves or others killed or maimed if they weren't arrested. Jonathan and Jordan were going nowhere fast with both their parents in life-and-death situations.
"There's no choice now. We have to call Grandpa," Jordan said.
Jonathan agreed and pulled out his cell phone and made the call, "Uh, Grandpa? Jordan and I are kind of stuck on the side of the road."
Sam was still in Smallville, so it didn't take him long to get there, but it left them with plenty of time to worry.
"Why have your parents just left you out here in a truck by yourselves?" Grandpa Lane asked with furrowed brows as they got into his car.
"Mom was kidnapped by Captain Luthor," Jonathan said.
"Dad was too weak to fly, but he was driving after them with us helping him when Edge made an appearance and threatened to kill us if he didn't go with him."
"Can a Krytonian go through the eradication process? Could a Kryptonian take over another Kryptonian?"
He asked the question that he and Jordan had been too afraid to ask out loud. It would explain so much about that video he'd seen. His dad would never kill his mom, but if another person possessed his body, that was another story entirely.
It made him afraid. He'd just been convinced by his mom that what happened on the other Earth couldn't happen here, but now it was so much more likely.
After all, Sarah's dad was a nice guy too. A hero who dedicated his life to saving people from fires and a man who maybe wasn't up for the title of Dad of the Year to hear Sarah talk but loved his family just as much as their dad loved his. And only last week, Mr. Cushing had his hands wrapped around his and his mom's throats ready to kill them. If his dad had been even a second later, he shuddered to think.
"It'll be okay, boys. Captain Luthor can't have gotten far and an RV isn't going to be easy to hide if he still has it. We'll have satellite images in no time. Then we'll worry about finding your dad."

Lois hid behind door. She felt fully recovered again. The side effects of the tranquilizer were completely worn off. She picked up the rather heavy table lamp, which would be great to bean him with when he came back. Did the man not know her at all to leave her untied and with something that she could turn into a weapon? She supposed he'd never been on the receiving end of her fury.
The knob jiggled and her muscles tensed.
"Mom!" Jordan cried out in warning as she was halfway to hitting his head, although these days it was unlikely that it would even cause a mild concussion. It still probably wouldn't have felt too good as his human side was still there.
She dropped the lamp and threw her arms around him. "Thank God! We've got to get out of here right now. Captain Luthor will probably be back any second." She hugged Jonathan when he also came into the room.
"Mom, there's something you need to know," Jonathan began.
"About Dad," Jordan said, finishing each other's sentences in a way they hadn't done since they were young.
Fear gripped her immediately. Had Edge infiltrated the fortress while he was weak and resting? The boys looked almost afraid to tell her. "What?"
"Edge got him," Jordan said.
"Dad went willingly to keep us from getting hurt," Jonathan explained.
"We don't know what he has planned for him, but I'm sure Dad can handle himself," Jordan said though he sounded as if he were trying to convince himself as much as them.
Lois had barely even noticed her father in the room until his cell went off. He answered, and she shooed the boys out, still worrying about Luthor though she felt less dire about it now as Sam Lane would have never entered a situation like this without weapons galore.
Her father's car was there and waiting. The boys climbed in, and she was about to follow suit, but the general's expression as he got off the phone made her pause.
"Superman's attacking Metropolis," he said grimly.
