Author's Note: Sorry this chapter is super late, but I hope everyone enjoys it!
Marty and Jennifer casually enter the lobby, careful not to draw any attention.
Jennifer leans over to Marty.
JENNIFER
(whispers)
The presidential suites that celebrities stay in are always on the top floor.
Marty nods. They walk over to the door that leads to the staircase and start the long climb.
After a few flights of stairs, they're both out of breath.
JENNIFER
I wish... Hill Valley... was big enough to have... enough money to pay for elevators.
MARTY
Right?
At the top, they exit the staircase and enter into the hall.
At the end of the hall is a room with double doors, and no nearby rooms.
MARTY
This must be it. How are we going to get in? We don't have a key.
Jennifer squints at the lock.
JENNIFER
It looks like I can pick the keyhole with a bobby-pin.
MARTY
Yes! Try that!
Jennifer plucks a bobby-pin out of her hair and sticks it in the lock, moving it around to try to unlock it.
After a few minutes, Jennifer and Marty hear a click. It's unlocked!
Jennifer stands up and gives Marty a wide smile, excited about what could happen inside.
She slowly turns the doorknob and cracks open the door.
JENNIFER
It looks like the coast is clear.
She opens the door all the way. Marty follows Jennifer in.
Since Sinatra wasn't in the front of the suite, they search the place.
JENNIFER
(yells)
He's not here.
MARTY
(yells)
Not here either.
They meet up again in the main bedroom.
MARTY
I guess he's not here yet.
JENNIFER
I wonder how late he'll be?
They both wander to the window overlooking Hill Valley.
MARTY
I should've checked.
JENNIFER
Marty, it's okay. This is much better than a concert.
Marty smiles.
MARTY
Then I guess it worked out okay.
JENNIFER
Not yet, we're gonna wait here for Frank.
Marty and Jennifer jolt up from sitting on the bed. They run to the bedroom door.
JENNIFER
(whispers)
Did you hear that?!
MARTY
Shhh!
They hear footsteps in the living room area of the suite. Then they hear the swoosh sound of a phone number being dialed.
FRANK
Hey, Nancy?
(beat)
Yes, I made it here all right.
(beat)
I love you too.
(beat)
Hi Chicken! You're gonna hear daddy tomorrow on the radio, right?
(beat)
I love you too, baby girl. Put mommy back on the phone for me?
(beat)
I'll be home in a few days.
(beat)
Uh-huh. Okay. Love you too. Bye.
From the bedroom, Marty looks over at Jennifer and almost laughs out loud. Jennifer's mouth is hanging open and her eyes look like a love sick puppy.
They hear the phone being placed down. The footsteps grow louder and louder and louder.
Frank opens the bedroom door and turns on the light. The room is exactly how he left it. He throws his jacket over the luggage and walks into the bathroom. He turns on the light.
FRANK
Ahh!
Marty and Jennifer stand in front of Frank Sinatra with shocked expressions.
FRANK
What are you... who are you?!
Frank slowly turns his head but still has one eye on them.
FRANK
SECURITY!
JENNIFER
No! Please!
Marty and Jennifer both hold out their hands to stop him.
MARTY
Please, Mr. Sinatra, you don't know who you're talking to.
FRANK
Why would I need to know? You broke in. Get out!
JENNIFER
No, you don't understand! You see, it's our anniversary, and Marty promised to take me to the '40s to see you. He wasn't very thorough-
She glares at Marty.
JENNIFER (CONT'D)
-but you weren't even at this concert, so we decided to come up and see you.
Frank looks at them for a few moments. He crosses his arms and scratches his chin with one hand.
FRANK
Take you to the '40s?
Marty and Jennifer both turn pale.
Frank smirks.
FRANK
I knew there was something different about you two. You're time travelers!
Marty opens his mouth in protest as Jennifer shrinks in embarrassment for revealing their secret.
FRANK
Don't worry, I won't tell. And you're not the first ones I've met, either.
Marty and Jennifer furrow their brows.
FRANK
Let's forget all this, and since I wasn't able to perform tonight, maybe I'll perform right here for the two of you.
Marty smiles. Jennifer squeals in shock and bounces up in the air. Mid-jump, she realizes she sounds like a crazy bobby soxer and timidly stands in place.
JENNIFER
(quietly)
Thank you.
Frank laughs and leads them into the living area. He stands by the fireplace. Marty and Jennifer sit on the couch patiently.
FRANK
Maybe you'd like to stand up and dance together for this one.
Marty and Jennifer stand in the center of the room, getting ready to dance to whatever Frank Sinatra performs for them.
Frank starts to sing "A Lovely Way To Spend An Evening" as Marty and Jennifer dance cheek to cheek.
JENNIFER
(whispers)
This is the best surprise ever, Marty.
MARTY
I thought you'd like it.
Marty and Jennifer dance together long through the night, listening to Sinatra's beautiful voice as they do so.
Author's Note: And that's it! I hope you enjoyed! I also might write more Back to the Future stories, so stay tuned!
