Author's notes: Steven Universe is an interesting cartoon. I wanted to write a fanfic about it, but, as the normal universe has a lot of things solved, except lion's chest, I decided to write about this AU that I've been planning. In this AU, some changes that are worth mentioning are: there are also male gems, the diamond authority of this AU is different from the original, none of the gems in the canon universe exist and Gregor's personality is different from Steven's.
Gregor Galaxy
The Lunar Sea Spire - chapter 1 - season 1
Earth is a planet full of life. There are animals, plants, water, among many other things. In a forest near a beach, however, a group of heroes who came from another planet. They are the Atomic Gems. For years, they protected the Earth from various threats, but everything changed when their leader ceased to exist to originate the newest member: Gregor Galaxy. Being half human and young, he can never go to the plant to do missions, however, this is about to change.
Gregor, like his father, loved to invent things that could be useful in missions. Even though he couldn't participate in the adventures of the rest of the team, he hoped he could do it one day. This time, he was working on an electric pen.
"Gregor, we're back!" said a voice from the room. She was sweet and kind.
"I'm on my way" said the young gem, running out of his laboratory.
In the living room, Gregor saw his whole family on top of a warp pad.
"Hi guys" said the young gem, running over to hug them. The woman with the voice also did the same. She had dark cyan hair and her skin was a very pale cyan.
"Hi, Gregor, I missed you so much!" said this woman, giving him a strong hug. He started to run out of breath with the strength of the hug.
"Celeste, let him breathe" said a blue man about Gregor's height.
"Oops, sorry" he said to Celeste, letting the young gem breathe.
"Now, it's my turn" said a tall, strong orange man, picking up Gregor.
"Hi, Josh" said the young gem, being put on the floor after a while.
"How are you, Gregor?" asked the blue man, in a slightly cold tone.
"It's a nice day. I just finished one invention, actually" replied Gregor. At that moment, the three exchanged looks as if they were planning something.
"Gregor, lately, we've been thinking about something" said Josh.
"What is it?" asked the young gem.
"We think ..." said Sam, being interrupted.
"THAT YOU ARE READY TO GO ON YOUR FIRST MISSION!" shouted the cyan woman, excited to take the boy on a mission.
"Celeste" said the blue man in a disapproving tone, even though he didn't have much emotion.
"I'm sorry, but I am so excited to take Gregor on his first mission! It will be so much fun and I'm so excited!" she said to Celeste, full of joy.
"Are you sure?" asked Gregor, unable to believe it.
"We think it is time for you to start helping us. It will be an easy mission, so we say it will be a kind of test" said Sam.
"So, get ready because we're going to save the Lunar Sea Spire!" said the orange man.
"Wait, I have to get some things first" said the young gem, running to his laboratory.
In the warp stream, the Atomic Gems were passing on some more information about this mission.
"Gregor, the objective of this mission is to restore the Lunar Sea Spire. A long time ago, the gem race met here to think and formulate ideas" said the blue man.
"But during a battle, the Power Planet gems decided to disable the spire, and hid the statue responsible for keeping everything standing" said Josh.
"Luckily, we managed to recover this artifact and we are going to restore this historic monument!" said the cyan woman.
"Got it. It seems to be simple" said Gregor.
"That's why we thought it would be a good test" said Sam.
"And we are sure that you will do well" he said to Celeste.
"Well, that's what I hope for" said the young gem, a little worried.
Upon arriving at the site, the Atomic Gems noticed that the place that was once so majestic, now, was falling apart.
"Wow, this place is much worse than I expected" said the orange man, seeing the pieces drop.
"It was so different at the time of colonization" said the cyan woman, remembering the incredible place this place once was.
"It doesn't matter, it will go back to how it was before. We just need to bring the statue back to its place" said the blue man.
"Guys look at this. There is a vortex pulling the spire down" said Gregor, looking at one end of the place at the bottom of the spire.
"So, we can't just jump to get to the spire. We have to find another way to get through" said Sam.
"I can use my ability to rotate to get there, I'm pretty quick when I use it" said Josh.
"Or I could use my wind powers to give us a boost and take us to the spire" said Celeste.
"I have a better plan" said the young gem, taking a long technological rope from his backpack. He threw it in two corners of the spire and jumped, then he used the rope to climb, leaving the Atomic Gems concerned.
"Don't worry, I'm fine" said Gregor, reassuring his family.
"Well, at least, we know that Celeste can help us get there" said the orange man, remembering that his friend's weapon was a whip.
The cyan woman removed her weapon from her stone and used it to help her friends enter the spire.
Inside the spire, the group noticed that the spire was even worse on the inside than on the outside. As they walked through the corridors, they noticed several destroyed statues. Suddenly, they ended up being stopped by a set of debris.
"Let me take care of that" said Josh, summoning his helmet and headbutting the obstacle, leading the way. But on the other side, they found crystal shrimp, which were deadly.
"How to get through all these shrimps?" asked the orange man.
"We are going to need a big distraction to get through. I am investigating several timelines," said the blue man.
"A great distraction?" said the young gem, wondering which of his inventions might help. He quickly had an idea.
Gregor took a very modern flashlight with several holes. He activated it and threw it to a corner. When she landed, she released several different colors, making all the prawns go to that corner.
"Wow, what was that?" asked Josh.
"It was amazing!" said the cyan woman.
"It's my party lantern. It serves as an improvised party globe" replied Gregor.
After walking a little further, they arrived at a place where they would have to cross a very strong river to reach their destination.
"Well, since Gregor had so many good ideas today, I think you have a way to get to the other side, right?" asked the orange man, trying to motivate the young gem.
"I have a technological lifeboat, but I'm not sure it will work" said the young gem, taking the boat out of his backpack. When it increased, however, they noticed that it was not a normal boat. It had engines and wings.
Suddenly, however, the boat called and started flying away, leaving Josh, Gregor, and Celeste a little worried about what to do.
Sam, however, invoked his staff and hit it on the ground, creating a kind of bridge made of ice.
"Go ahead" said the blue man, calling the others to go over the bridge. The young gem was a little saddened by his failure.
"It's okay, Gregor. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes" said the cyan woman, trying to comfort the boy.
Reaching the top of the spire, the four found the place where the statue was to be placed.
"Now, just put the statue in place and everything will be as it was before. Celeste, now it's your part" said Sam.
"Leave it to me" said the cyan woman, placing her hand in front of her stone. However, she started taking random objects out of her stone.
"What's going on, Celeste?" asked the orange man.
"You forgot to bring the statue, didn't you?" asked the blue man.
"Of course not. It's here somewhere. I just need to look a little more. Yeah, I think I forgot about that" he said to Celeste, noting that she wasn't there, and keeping the objects out.
"Calm down, guys, there must be another way" said Josh.
"There is no time to return to the temple, the best thing to do is to return to the warp pad as soon as possible before this place is destroyed" said Sam, using his vision of the future.
"I have an invention that can help. It's a gravity stabilizer, but I don't know if it will work. It is still in phase and testing. But it's worth a try" said Gregor, picking up his backpack and looking for this invention. After a while, he removed a technological sphere and pressed a button and placed it where the statue should have been.
For a while, it looked like it would work, but it didn't take long for the sphere to explode. The explosion was so big that the spire collapsed.
In the end, everything was flooded and covered with water. When hope seemed lost, the four left the water.
"Sorry guys, I should have done more tests" said the young gem, feeling a little guilty.
"It's okay, Gregor. The biggest culprit is me who forgot the statue" said the cyan woman.
"Josh and I are also at fault in this story" said the blue man, leaving the boy a little confused. At that moment, Celeste pulled out an extremely small boat, in which only the four could fit.
After the four had entered, the cyan woman summoned two whips and spun them, mixing it with her wind power, propelling the boat.
"Remember when we told you that in the past, there was a great war and that we were defending the Earth?" asked Sam, receiving a positive nod from Gregor.
"So, the battle in that spire was one of the biggest battles of the war, and Josh and I got in the way. I was focusing on a set of timelines and I ended up dropping some. Precisely one of those timelines was what happened. We were surrounded by Power Planet gems" said the blue man, telling part of the story.
"So, I noticed that Sam would be standing around trying to formulate a plan. I thought that if I headbutted one of the walls, we would be able to escape and reach the top of the spire to protect the statue, but I ended up attacking a fragile place that ended up causing us to fall to the lower floors of the spire. This made the Power Planet gems able to remove the statue" said the Orange Man.
"Do you see, Gregor? We all make mistakes. Even your father has already committed some, but what matters is to learn from them. And that's why I think you're ready for missions. You learned a lot today, and you still have a lot more to learn" said Sam, making the young gem better.
