Well I'm back for chapter 4
Dinner was all right; well, it was until teachers and students alike began asking where they had gone.
"Where were you all day?!" Tsunami bellowed "you could have caused a school panic"
"We were out" Agate said evenly.
"Answer the question!"
"hmmmm no, it's really not you problem" Agate responded with a blank bored expression.
I do not think this is a good idea on Agate's part.
"Well since we already know Agates mental wall is too strong for accurate reading, let's have Moon give Marmalade a talk"
"Marmalade just think about anything but, what we did today"
Uh flowers rainb- the hole thou-no ughhhhh Agate!
The next five minutes where excruciating, waiting at the table alone, all eyes on her, waiting for moon to come, find out about the scroll fragment, and then confiscate it.
I'm sorry Agate, I hope you will forgive me
Marmalade was snaped out of her thoughts by Moon sitting down across from her.
"Marmalade, is it?" Moon sighed "just tell me the truth and I won't have to poke around in your head"
"O-ok" Marmalade managed to stammer back.
"Where were you all day"
I was in my cave with Agate, the hole was so dark, no ughhhh
"Me and Agate where in our cave"
The look on moons face as she responded was unsettling, as if something were wrong.
Wait a second, Moon we were in a pit in the hills
No reaction.
She can't read my mind!
"uhhh Marmalade do you have any special jewelry by chance"
"n-no" Marmalade stammered back realizing why mind reading was useless against her.
It appeared that the other winglets had caught on as well
"What's that bracelet?" Dragonfly shouted pointing at the bracelet on Marmalade's wrist.
I swear I will get you back for that.
Moons eyes opened wide.
"You have Clearsights bracelet!?" she shouted and began reaching toward Marmalade's wrist.
NO NO NO!
"STOP IT!" Marmalade hissed pulling away, Tsunami happened to take this moment to grab her and calm her down, unfortunately Marmalade was now beyond reasoning.
"LET ME GO!"
"Calm down" Tsunami scolded, before seizing up and collapsing completely stiff.
"LEAVE ME ALONE!" Marmalade screeched stingers extended from her wrists.
Dragonfly was the next to confront her, meeting the same fate as Tsunami.
RUN SCROLL USE THE POWER! ESCAPE
The halls where a blur as Marmalade sprinted full tilt to her cave, she could hear a mob of pursuers.
Ok ok, I just have to write what I need to happen, that's how Agate said this works
All she had time to do was grab an ink pot, grab the scroll and write: I enchant myself to gain the power of this scroll.
before shoving the scroll chunk into a gap in the corner, and then continuing her escape.
The library!
The idea came to her as she ran past, she slid in and hid behind a shelf.
"Whose there?"
Ughhh I forgot Starflight was here
"I can hear you!" Starflight's voice called out.
"Its Marmalade" Marmalade called out trying to sound casual "I was just finding something to read"
"Oh, allrigh-"
"HAVE YOU SEEN MARMALADE!" Sunny screeched running in.
"What happened?" Starflight cried shocked.
"She paralyzed Tsunami and one of the students, Dragonfly I think"
"Marmalade is in here!" Starflight Exclaimed apparently remembering the question.
"Marmalade come here, and we will discuss this" Sunny said voice shaking.
It was as if all Marmalade's energy slipped away in that one moment.
"ok" was all she could say as she practically dragged herself from behind a bookshelf.
"You're going to go to your cave for the time being, okay?"
"Yes"
"What are we going to do with you?" Sunny muttered under her breath.
What have I done?
About 5 minutes after Agate was escorted out and left with clay, everything went to shit, and now Marmalade was basically detained until further notice.
"What was she thinking?" Agate thought aloud head in her talons.
"I really have no idea" Sunny responded.
"Oh well it's an excuse to spend time with you I guess" Agate half laughed.
"Agate this is really serious"
"I know" Agate groaned sadly.
"Do you have any idea why she acted the way she did?"
"Well…" Agate trailed off.
"Agate please make this easy for me" Sunny begged.
"Wemayhavefoundpartofdarkstalkersscroll" Agate mumbled back.
"What!?" Sunny exclaimed eyes wide.
"uhhhh"
"Wait here, I need to gather everyone" Sunny told Agate sternly.
This is going to be a nightmare
It was 5 minutes later that Sunny came back with: Tsunami, Clay, Moon, Qibli, and of course Marmalade.
"WHAT WAS THAT!?" Tsunami screeched visibly shaking "YOURE LUCKY WE KEEP STIMULANT IN CASE OF THESE ACCEDENTS"
"We need the bracelet while we have this conversation" Moon said evenly to Marmalade.
"All right" was all Marmalade said tossing it to Moon.
"Wait, what?" Moon mumbled confused "I still can't read your mind"
"I know" Marmalade said a small smile creeping up her snout.
"no" Sunny breathed "you didn't"
"I did"
"What are we even talking about!?" Tsunami butted in.
"This makes no sense, there are no animus Hivewings, unless…" Qibli looked very concerned now.
"Marmalade did you use it!?" Agate asked.
"Yes, I was being perused and I knew our stuff would be taken, so I gave myself the power of the scroll"
"Did you not tell us something?" Clay asked Sunny.
"Well Agate said she found part of the scroll, but peril destroyed it, right?"
"Hahaha, you were wrong" Marmalade laughed before immediately stopping.
"What's going on here?" Moon asked Marmalade "you sound different"
"Well normally I would be scared talking to you under these circumstances, but why be intimidated when I can simply enchant myself to be confident"
"Marmalade" Agate warned before the others could get a word in, "you are letting the magic consume you"
"What no no, that's not possible I feel fine, FINE, STOP DOUBTING ME AGATE, WOAH LOOK AT THAT. IM ANGRY HAHAH-" Marmalade was cut off as Qibli shot her with a Rainwing blowgun.
"She should be out for a few hours at least"
"CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT IN THE MOONS JUST HAPPENED?" Tsunami roared.
"S-she wasn't the most stable, but I didn't think she would lose her mind that quickly" Agate stammered shaking, tears in her eyes.
"What should we do now?" Clay asked, "will she be okay when she wakes up?"
"I don't know, any ideas Qibli?" moon asked still processing what just happened.
"Possibly" he responded "our best bet is to put Agate in there with her"
"What!?" Sunny exclaimed.
"Agate is her closest friend and might be able to fix her" Qibli proposed "Marmalade wont attack her, she clearly values Agate above herself"
"I'll do it" Agate said firmly "I might be able to get her to change her personality back"
"Okay just be careful sis" Sunny murmured "I don't want anything happening to you"
Neither do I.
