Chapter 9

I and Bobby walked next door. My legs began to feel like Jell-O. I wasn't ready to meet another girl. "I don't know if i'm ready!" I said. My heart beated pretty fast. "Stop being such a fawn." Bobby teased, as he rang the doorbell. I felt like running away. I slowly backed up and closed my eyes. "Turn and run!" I reapted in my mind. "Turn and run! Turn and run! Turn and run!" As I stepped on the grass I heard a voice. "Hello." I opened my eyes. A cute girl stood at the door. With her doe ears poking out from her smooth brown hair. She looked like me, besides having the antlers. She wore a shirt that read "Doe at Work!" with blue jeans, and pink high-toped converse. "Wow!" I quietly said to myself.

She noticed me. "Hi." she said, as she walked my way. "I'm Carly." I gulped, I was speechless. I couldn't think of a word to say. She laughed as she reached for my furry hand. I raised it out before she could even touch it. "Hello... I'm... I'm..." Thats all I could get out. Bobby elbowed me. "I'm Ba-ba-Brian."

Carly laughed. "You're funny. Wanna hang out?"

Again. All I could do was mutter a few words. "Sure!" I said. We walked together to the grass were we sat. She picked up an acorn that had a spider crawling on it and handed it to me. "Do you like acorns, or do you prefer nuts and berries?"

"Nuts and berries." I said. She got up and walked to a nearby bush and picked a few raspberries. "Try this!" she said, holding her hand out. A few berries dropped in my hand. I tried them. They tasted so good. "These are absolutely marvelous!" I exclaimed. "The most sweetest raspberries." "Thats because Bobby's family uses a special fertilizer. Makes the berries sweet and tastey. So we're you from?" she asked as she sat back down.

"Colorado." I said. "Mm, the rocky state. Beautiful." Carly said. She scooted a little close to me. As she was about to lean in for a kiss. I heard a car skid up the driveway. Carly gasped. "Oh, no. Mr. and Mrs. Stone. Hurry follow me." She took my hand as we crouched on the wet grass. Down to our knees. "What's wrong?" I asked in worriedness. She cuffed her hand over my mouth. "Shhh. Do you want them to hear us? Do you want to be on the menu tonight?" She protested quietly.

"Who?" I whispered. She leaned in my hear. "Bobby's parents." I was confused and whispered. "But Bobby told me that they loved deer."

"Don't believe him. He's lying. Look!" She protested. I peeked my head over the small hedge and saw Bobby and his parents carrying a animal. I couldn't quite make out what it was. "What is that?" I quietly asked.

She grabbed my shoulders grasping them tightly. "A deer. That's a deer!" she quietly exclaimed. "Stay away from Bobby and his family. They're hunters. They hunt all animals here in the state. They could hear a fawn cry from the next city over."

My heart began to race. I could feel it beat faster and faster. I peeked back over the hedge and noticed Bobby and his family were gone. I ducked back down. Carly whispered to me. "I'm gonna go back inside. I'll drop by your house later. You live across from Bobby right?" I nodded. "Yeah, I just moved in." Carly leaned over and gave me a quick lick before walking back inside. I followed walking across the street and back inside. Where Lexi was sitting on the carpet playing the switch. "You make any new friends?" Lexi asked. I nodded. "Yeah. Apparently I'm not the only deer here. There's a girl who lives next door to Bobby, who is a deer as well."

"Is she hot. Are you twitterpated by her, hm." Lexi asked. "No!" I lied.
