"Amy dear?"
Her mother's call shook her out of her peaceful slumber as she turned towards the door, rubbing her eyes and sitting up on the bed. "Yes?!"
"There's someone here to see you!"
A visitor? She was confused. By then, it was near the end of the summer. A lot of her friends had already moved away and those who didn't plan on doing so, well they were all on vacation. Who else would be visiting her, and at this time, no less?
She straightened out her long flowing locks of pink hair and yawned, shaking the blanket off and limping off the bed. Amy stumbled down the stairs, still slightly disoriented from her broken slumber to meet her mom in the kitchen.
"Mom?"
"Oh!" there was nothing on her mom's face but a grin. "Look who came to see you!"
Amy turned around and came face to face with a green hawk. Her eyes widened as a wave of panic washed through her. It was none other than Jet, her weird, perverted womanizing player ex boyfriend who tried to-
Oh she sure did have a lot to say to him, but with her mom in the room, that wasn't really possible. She shot him a cold glare, trying her best to make it as piercing as possible with her level of energy, and turned back to her mom, before once again facing him.
"So Amy… how have you been?". It was very clear to her in his voice that he was here for one thing and one thing only, her.
"I'll leave you 2 to talk then Amy. I have to run to the store."
The door slammed shut and before she knew it, mom was gone. Slowly, Amy backed towards the shelf where all the knives were kept and grabbed one, pointing it at the bird, continuing to tremble. Her hands were shaking so much to the point where she nearly dropped it. She could only imagine what would've happened if he were standing closer.
"Woah woah woah!" he chuckled. That stupid, annoying chuckle that he would use to seduce her… and everyone else into getting his way. "No need to get violent with me babe! I'm just trying to have a little conversation with you!"
"F- fine!" she spoke. The words slowly came out of her mouth. "Hurry up! I have no time for you!"
Jet stopped chuckling and walked towards her, placing his hand on her wrist and gripping it tightly. In a swift move, he twisted her arm around and removed the knife from her, tossing it off to the side. He then leaned closer to her, letting their noses touch.
"I won't be long, I promised to meet my friend somewhere after this," he calmly said.
As their lips touched, Amy's vision began to go blank. As for her head, well, she could feel nothing there, just emptiness, and it was becoming more and more. She barely had enough energy to process what he had just done before losing consciousness…
It was only then she realized the blanket she was wrapped up in had a very different feeling to what she was used to. Her eyes shot open as a wave of panic ran through her and her breath hitched. That, coupled with the dream she just had… What an amazing way to start her 2nd day in Los Angeles. Seriously, it could not have gone any better than how it went.
A few minutes later, after somehow managing to calm herself back down, Amy slowly sat up, rubbing her eyes and glancing at the clock on her bedside table. 7:30. It was quite a relief to her that she got through the whole night in Rob's house and got a good rest, with the exception of waking up panicking.
She remembered that she had to meet with Sonic later on in the day, and climbed out of bed, throwing the sheets to one side. She beelined for her still packed suitcase on the other side of the room by the door, stumbling.
The room wasn't big, but it wasn't too small. There was enough space for a bed, a desk and some shelves with plenty of room in the middle to dance around- another one of Amy's hobbies. The closer she got to the door, the more some aroma drifted to her nose. She didn't know what it was, but it had a nice scent to it.
After Amy stumbled out of her room, she realized that Rob was in the kitchen making breakfast. Since her stomach still felt kind of full, she decided to go out for a walk to get some fresh air.
"Amy!" he called out just as she stepped through the door. "Uncle Rahul called and said that he and Aunt Aurora won't be coming 'til Christmas. I hope you're fine with that!"
She yelled an "ok" in reply and smiled, exiting the house. Finally, some independence for a few months!
The sky glistened and the rays of the sun nearly blinded her when she walked out of the house, causing her to hiss quietly. It was unusual still, for her to wake up, no longer being in the woods of upstate New York with where she knew like the back of her hand.
It was still quite early in the morning, and on a Sunday no less. Not many people were roaming the streets. A few cars zoomed by here and there and that was about it. With a smile, she shut the door behind her and continued along the short path of the house towards the sidewalk.
"Hey!"
Amy looked up at a white furred bat who was now screaming at her. Oh shit… It took her a moment to realize that she just ran into someone.
"Watch where you're go-" the bat stopped her rant for a split second to examine the pink hedgehog. "Say… you look familiar."
The confusion mounted in Amy as this bat continued to look at her. "I'm sorry miss I-"
"Amy!"
"Huh?" the pink hedgehog raised an eyebrow. "Do I know you?"
"Oh my god!" the white bat's mood completely changed from before. "I haven't seen you since like grade 1 or 2! It's been so long!"
Amy was still confused. "I'm not sure I know you… uh…"
"Anyway, I gave Mr. Nack the finger when he yelled at us and got sent to the principal's office, if you remember that." the ivory furred bat continued.
"Ahh yes I remember now!" she exclaimed. "R- Rouge? I think that's what it was?"
The bat nodded, signaling a yes. "You were quite the teacher's pet back then, I remember. Always with those straight As…"
"Yeah. Still have a 4.0 gpa. Anyways Rouge. What brings you here to California?"
"Oh…" Rouge sighed. "I came here for college… CSU. I don't even know what I'm majoring in. I've been here for a year already…"
Amy, feeling for her old friend, wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "You'll figure it out eventually."
"You're right, hon. What about you then? How come you're on the other side of the country too?"
"Same as you," the pink hedgehog replied. "I'm also going to CSU."
Rouge's eyes lit up as soon as Amy said the university's name. "REALLY! FINALLY!"
"What…?"
"Oh gosh… I finally have another girl friend… it's been quite boring hanging out with just my boyfriend's friends. My only other female friend is my boyfriend's cousin."
"Damn… that's got to suck," Amy noted.
Rouge nodded in agreement.
"Anyways Rouge, I'd love to meet your friends. I only just moved here."
"I'm having a party at my place next week, you wanna come? There's loads of people coming."
"S- sure?" A party? "Where is it?"
"I'll text you the address," Rouge smiled. "Give me your phone."
Amy handed Rouge her phone and watched as she tapped in her number. Just as she was done, the phone started to ring, and it was from Rob.
"Oh Rouge, I'm so sorry, I have to go now," Amy said. "We can catch up later, right?"
"You have my number hon, give me a call okay?"
"Bye!"
"Bye Amy! It was nice seeing you again!"
Well that's great! I made another friend…
~~~a few hours later~~~
"Oh shit! I forgot…"
Amy stood off to the side as Sonic continued rattling the doorknobs one by one.
"Well, it is a Sunday," she pointed out. "Plus it's summer break right now."
"Yeahhhhhh," he muttered.
"How about we just walk around then? It's such a nice day anyways."
Sonic nervously scratched the back of his head as Amy continued to smile at him. "Uh, I was actually wondering if maybe you wanted to get something to eat or something… I dunno."
Her eyes continued to be fixed on Sonic. She couldn't help but feel a certain discomfort, like something was out of place. It wasn't necessarily anything against him in particular, that she felt unsafe or in danger when she was with him, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. Maybe it was that this all was going so fast for her. She met him only a day ago and now, she already had feelings, strong feelings towards him.
"Uh Amy?"
Oh shit… did he see me staring at him?
"Hmm?" she tilted her head sideways. "What?"
He smiled. "You looked like you were zoned out for a bit. I asked you if you wanted to grab some food."
"Oh- um." she muttered, rapidly blinking her eyes a few times to bring herself back. "Sure. I was a bit hungry anyways. Where do you want to go?"
"Doesn't matter to me," Sonic shrugged.
She sighed. "Really narrows it down there Sonic…"
"Just sayin', whatever's fine."
"Mhm."
Unable to think of anywhere else to go, both hedgehogs agreed that they should head to Chuck's Noodles to get a quick bite. Plus, Chuck let the customers order whatever they wanted.
~~chat scene first cause i have no ideas~~
Aside from a quick 'thank you' for Chuck, not another word came from either of the hedgehogs' mouths. Amy felt a little awkward in the situation, and Sonic wasn't really sure where to start, so both remained silent.
For a while, their interactions alternated between awkward glances at each other before quickly turning back down, and taking sips from their glasses, until Sonic decided to break the silence.
"So uh, Amy," he cleared his throat. "What made you want to come to Los Angeles?"
The pink hedgehog, who was in the middle of taking a sip of her ramune, looked up and cocked her eyebrow. "Hmm?"
He smiled awkwardly. "Oh um-, nothing. I was just wondering why you chose to come to Los Angeles. I mean, New York is such a great place! At least that's what I've heard. Not that I've ever had the chance to go there before."
"I see," Amy replied. "Well, I wanted to go to school out of state, so I came here. Plus, my brother already moved here and my cousin lives here too, so I could just stay with them."
"You're lucky," he commented. "I wish I had the chance to do that."
She chuckled. "I thought I needed to broaden my horizons ya know? I felt like I should see the world in a different light."
"Plus, I kinda wanted to get away from my parents." she added with another chuckle.
"Right…"
"Well what about you Sonic? Why did you choose Cal State?"
"Oh- I dunno," he muttered. "I wanted to stay with my friends so… yeah." he finished with a smile.
"Right…"
Another awkward pause ensued until Sonic spoke up again.
"I've been meaning to ask-" he began. "When you came in that day…"
"Yeah?"
"You ordered, what was it again? Just the gyoza wrappers with peanut sauce or something."
Amy lightly blushed. "Oh! You remembered!"
"Well I mean, not many people come in and just order boiled dumpling wrappers so… it's interesting."
"Yeah… it reminds me of home."
"Oh? Was it something your mom would make or what?"
She shook her head. "My parents used to take my brother and I to this restaurant… I forgot where it was. Somewhere in the city."
Sonic nodded as Amy continued her story.
"And it was owned by this Malaysian man who made the best noodles ever."
"What happened then? Did he close or something?"
"Yeah," she looked down. "I tried to find the peanut noodles he made everywhere, but nothing came close. The only thing I remember was that it tasted like gyoza wrappers."
"O- oh-"
"Hey… Sonic," the girl cut him off. "You work here, right?"
"Huh?" the blue hedgehog scratched the back of his head. "Oh yeah I do. Chuck's a great guy. He's kinda like my dad, since my real dad, well…"
"Oh, what happened?"
"I don't really want to get into it."
"Mhm," Amy lowered her head. "Sorry for asking…"
He smiled back at her. "Oh it's fine, really. I mean, life needs some balance sometimes, right? It can't all be happy. You have to have some downs along with the ups to balance it out. That's why depression is good!"
"You're funny Sonic." she added with a chuckle.
"Eh, I try to be."
Amy was about to say something else when Chuck returned to the table with their food.
"Okay," the elder hedgehog's voice boomed. "A chili dog for you," he handed the hot dog topped with chili to Sonic before turning to Amy. "And the special noodles for you."
"And if you 2 need anything, it's on the house," he added.
"Terima Kasih Uncle!" Sonic replied. "But I still think I should pay…"
"Ai ya!" Chuck waved his arms. "Mài lah! Lóng sī ka-ki lâng ah!"
"Uhh," Amy sat in her seat awkwardly as Sonic and Chuck continued talking. "What's going on?"
Sonic turned back towards her. "Oh nothing, Chuck's wondering if you want anything else."
She shook her head and turned to the elder hedgehog. "Oh no sir it's fine."
"Ok then," Chuck turned back to face Sonic. "Khuànn i tsiok suí hoh. Lí ún-tàng ài hōo i tsiàu kòo! Lí nã bô, i tio'h hōo pa't-lâng tshiúnn khì oh!"
"Uncle Chuck!" his face slightly reddened at the elder man's comments. "I will!"
"You better son. I'm watching you."
"Hehe, okay."
Are you serious Uncle Chuck…
"Oh, one more thing Aoi,"
"Yeah?"
"You know my nephew Peter huh? He will come from Singapore tomorrow lah so no work for you."
"Oh ok then. Do you need me to do anything then?"
"Mài lah! School is starting soon. You always work so hard! Take a break."
"But I need the-"
"There is an angpao in the kitchen for you."
"Uh Chuck? I don't really think-"
"No buts!" the old man snapped. "I'm going back to work. You 2 enjoy your meal."
"Hold up-"
Sonic's sentence was cut short as he realized that Uncle Chuck was already out of his view. He turned back towards Amy, who had now gone to devouring her noodles. The sight made him slightly chuckle, in turn making her cock an eyebrow at him.
"Uh Sonic? Is something wrong?" her teeth broke the strands of noodles, causing them to fall along with the dripping sauce from her mouth. "Do I have something on my face?"
"Oh nothing Amy," he grinned. "Maybe you do have something on there. Maybe I just wanna look."
Amy's face became -_-
Bruh
"Ugh. Whatever."
She turned her focus back towards her noodles, trying her best to slurp them as quietly as possible. Everything about it was so… oddly familiar, the texture, the sauce, the plate… Even Chuck, the (maybe way too overly) enthusiastic hedgehog who owned the place.
Heck, there was something else about Sonic too. She felt like she had seen him somewhere before, prior to their meeting yesterday.
She glanced back up at the azure hedgehog, who was now finishing up his chili dog and back down.
Hmm.
"Sonic," she finally decided to open her mouth.
He put his food down. "Yeah?"
"Um, could you maybe," she paused. Would he even know? "I dunno, can you tell me more about Chuck?"
"Sure! Why not!" he said with a chuckle.
"Go on then."
A long breath escaped Sonic's mouth as he finished the last bit of the chili dog. "Well, Chuck and my mom are old friends and he's always helped us here and there," he paused to take a sip of water. "So I came to work for him to sorta repay ya know? what he did for us."
"Oh wow."
"Yeah," the azure hedgehog scratched the back of his head. "Also, I know he's from Malaysia or someplace around there… and I remember hearing him say he used to live in New York. I dunno…"
Hmm. New York. Maybe it is him… those noodles taste so similar…
"Um, hello Amy? Ya there?"
"Oh sorry, I kinda got lost in thought there…" she blushed. "Anyway, can you ask Chuck if I get more noodles? They're reeeeally good…"
He chuckled. "Well, he did say that it's on the house!"
As if on cue, there the elder blue hedgehog stood. "More noodles for you ah?"
Amy nodded.
"No problem! M̄-bián tsînn!"
"…"
"Oh, Chuck said that it's free." Sonic explained.
"Oh um," Amy muttered. "Well Uncle, I still think I should-"
He waved his arms at her, interrupting her protest. "Ka-ki lâng!"
Sonic noticed that Amy was about to speak up again when he intervened. "Amy, just go with it. That's how he is."
"O- oh- ok."
The table once again fell into awkward silence as Chuck retreated to the kitchen to get Amy more noodles.
~~timeskip~~
"Oww…" Amy felt her body drop downwards as her stomach churned. Her arms quickly went to wrap her abdomen as she crunched down in pain.
"Hey um, Amy?" Sonic's soothing voice suddenly appeared. "Are you okay?"
Another groan escaped her mouth before she slowly stood up. "Yeeaaah. No. I'm NOT. Do you have anything like, I dunno,"
"Well, my house is like, 2 blocks away. I might have some medication. If you can endure it for that long-"
"OKAY!" she cried out once more. "Let's go!"
~~a short while later~~
"So…" she watched as Sonic unlocked the door. "This is my place…"
Her stomach seemed to have felt significantly better on the short walk to Sonic's, weirdly enough, but the uneasiness still lingered.
Amy still felt a bit hesitant about coming to the azure hedgehog's home. Though ever since the 2 met; when he saved her from her harassers, she found herself to be slowly falling for him. The way he saved her and just their entire meeting in general… It was like it was destined to happen. He just happened to walk by and save her. Soooooo romantic-
"Well Amy, are you coming in or what?"
His smooth, sexy voice interrupted her thoughts. It took her a minute but she got back into reality. She had been so zoned out for just a moment there that she didn't realize she was still standing in the entryway.
Amy smiled back at him and took her shoes off. "O- oh yeah I'm coming. I was just looking."
Sonic nodded and soon disappeared from her sights into the kitchen. She closed the door behind her as she walked into the living room just beside the entryway and sat down, looking around at the apartment. It was quite simple, with only 3 other doors leading away from the living room. One to the kitchen, where Sonic went, and she figured the other 2 were the bedrooms. For a home that 2 19 year olds lived in, she had to admit, it was quite organized. The cleanliness didn't take away the fact that she was still a bit paranoid though.
She made her way over to one of the couches and sat down, still feeling anxious, and picked up one of the magazines on the table in front of her. Amy could hear Sonic knocking about in the kitchen, presumably to find something, and eyed the other magazines on the table, seeing a few food ones and a couple porn ones, making her twitch in disgust.
"So uh Ames, do you want something to drink?"
The pink hedgehog batted an eyebrow, turning her head to see the hunky blue male. "Ames?"
"Mhm," he replied, innocently staring off to the side. "Nickname for you. I give one to all my friends."
Friends…
"R- right…"
Ugh… why is he so good at being seductive… he's not even trying, at least I don't think he is…
"Did you want a drink or something?" he interrupted her thoughts again.
"S- sure… anything is fine."
And without another word, he disappeared again. With him gone, Amy could now turn her focus back towards the magazines. That was another thing about him… she realized she really didn't know much about him. When she tried to ask him about his family or anything else, he stuck with short replies before stopping to talk altogether or nothing at all, before changing the subject. Maybe the magazines could tell her something about him.
She picked back up the magazine she was looking at earlier, now realizing it was about steak recipes, and eyed the rest of them, not really finding another one that could catch her eye. Amy began flipping, letting her eyes widen as she turned the pages, conscious of her drooling.
Before long, Sonic was back, this time holding 2 cans of cola, but she didn't notice until he pressed one onto the side of her cheek, making her flinch. He broke out into a laugh before sitting down next to her.
"I'm guessing you're into cooking too?"
"Yeah, sort of?" she nervously replied. "Whose magazines are these?"
"Oh," Sonic chuckled again. "The ones about food are mine. The rest… belongs to my friend."
At least I didn't just become friends with some perv with a porn addiction…
He playfully nudged her shoulder. "What? You thought the other stuff was mine?"
"Noooo Sonic."
She turned her head back away from him as her face slightly flushed. His chuckle rang through her ears as she opened her drink and took a sip.
"I just thought- never mind."
"It's fine Amy," a smile tugged at his lips. "How 'bout let's change the subject huh Ames? What about you? Do you have a porn addiction you don't want me finding out about?"
The pink hedgehog felt a pang of cringe at his response. "Ew… Sonic… what the fuck. What kind of a question is that!?"
As she turned to him with a look of disgust, his playful smirk was there once again, radiating on her. As annoyed as this made her, she had to admit. He was smooth.
"Just kidding Ames."
"Don't 'Ames' me hedgehog!" she grunted, gently punching him.
"Ow! That hurt!"
She rolled her eyes and turned away. Her eyes caught a glimpse of the clock on the wall above where a guitar stood, opposite her and could just barely make out what the time was. 9:30. Her eyes widened as she jumped up. She couldn't believe how much time she had actually spent here. Actually, she wasn't even in Sonic's house for that long, it was just already really late when they got here, but she didn't know.
"Oh shit Sonic I- I have to go…"
He cut her off. "It's fine, I understand. I can take you if you want, just give me the directions."
Amy nodded.
It was a quiet, short ride between Sonic's apartment and Amy's house on the back of his motorcycle. She occasionally snuck a few glances at him as her arms wrapped his torso, each time getting more and captivated, much to her surprise. She didn't know what fascinated her more, his ocean blue quills or his emerald green eyes, or maybe even that tanned muzzle of his, always with a playful smirk hanging on it. He didn't seem to notice her glances though, instead focusing on the road in front and humming a cheerful tune.
The bike twisted and turned down the roads all the way to Amy's place and soon came to a halt on the driveway. He smiled at her as he turned the bike off and stepped off, helping her dismount as well.
"Thanks Sonic, I-"
"It was no problem," he replied. "I had time to kill anyway."
"I'm going in now," Amy said. "Good night!"
"Wait!"
She turned around to face him again. "Hm?"
"Amy- I-" he muttered, his breath hitching. Slowly, he stepped closer and closer to her and soon, she was able to feel his rhythmic breathing lightly brush against her forehead.
She raised an eyebrow at him, confused and attempting to figure out what he was trying to say. He kept moving his mouth, but no words were able to come out.
"What are you trying to s-" Amy asked before she was cut off.
His hands suddenly cupped her cheeks and he leaned down towards her, pulling her face closer to his lips.
It was all a flash.
The touching of their lips sent shockwaves through both hedgehogs' bodies.
Sonic was hungry, he was hungry for that peculiar taste on her lips.
Amy on the other hand… she didn't know what to do.
It shocked her so much that she wasn't even able to move. The last movement she had was when her eyes shot open as Sonic's lips touched hers.
A few minutes later, Sonic removed his face from hers, but kept his hands cupped on her cheeks. A light chuckle came out of his mouth as he bashfully darted his eyes to the ground beside him.
"I guess that answers your question Amy…"
"...What"
"I like you. I really do," he admitted. "I- even though I've only known you for 2 days, I'd love to get to know you more and-"
This time, Amy cut him off. She grabbed his face and pulled him down towards her, connecting their lips with another electrifying kiss.
"I guess I feel the same way…"
As they pulled away from each other, neither of them could stop staring at the other. Amy took it all in slowly, his ocean blue quills, that tan muzzle, the way it was being lit up under the bright light of the moon… Oh, she so wanted to kiss those lips of his again.
"Hey… Amy," Sonic began. "It's getting late. You should go inside now. I don't want your cousin to worry about you."
She nodded. "Yeah. I will Sonic."
"Can I see you sometime next week?" he proposed.
"Sure!" she smiled. "Call me okay? You have my number, right?"
He winked and gave her a thumbs up, making her giggle. "I don't… but could I get your email too?"
"Email?" she raised an eyebrow. That was definitely unusual for her, and a first. "Sure… I guess?"
He smiled and handed her his phone to put her contacts in and she did the same.
With that, he turned around and walked back towards his bike, waving at her.
"Good night!"
"Good night!"
The pink hedgehog turned towards her front door with a wide grin on her face. She continued walking, hearing his bike starting up. The hum of the engine slowly became more faint.
She quickly went through the door and slammed it shut. Kicking her shoes off, she darted straight for her room and leapt onto the bed, holding up her hands over her mouth to muffle her screams of excitement and happiness.
All because of a single blue hedgehog.
