Chapter 12

It didn't take much questioning for Daphne and Fred to discover what had happened to Jared Stevens.

Jared Stevens had been a smart kid, excelled in all his classes including gym and he had a bright future ahead of him, unfortunately, that put him at the bottom of his social group which consisted of Tyler Jackson, Bradley Townsend, May Thomas, Victoria Rossman and Melanie Preston.

After speaking to Principal Bleu who explained that Bradley Townsend came from a wealthy background, as did Tyler Jackson, which only boosted their already massive egos. Victoria Rossman and Bradley Townsend dated briefly before he was caught with another girl in the girl's locker room, it was Victoria who had ended it.

That was the only relationship in the group.

But they were notorious for getting drunk at the weekends and coming into school on Mondays hungover. They were known to go camping in the woods where they would get drunk and sometimes drugs would be involved.

Though they were no relationships – other than the brief one involving Bradley Townsend and Victoria Rossman – there were rumours that their camping trips involved a lot of sex whether that be threesomes or orgies.

They were the group that nobody wanted to be involved with.

But how Jared Stevens came into to, nobody knows.

Victoria Rossman explained that he just turned up in their gang one day with Tyler Jackson, but she didn't know how they met, she hadn't even seen Jared Stevens at school before.

Melanie Preston said the same thing, as did May Thomas which made Daphne and Fred think that it was planned in case they were ever questioned.

Tyler Jackson didn't tell them how he met Jared Stevens, maybe he just bumped into him in the corridors or someone else had introduced him to Jared, he didn't say.

But according to all of them – apart from Bradley Townsend – on the day that Jared Stevens died, they had all snuck into the pool hall, there were no classes until later in the day, but Bradley Townsend thought it would be fun for them to have the pool to themselves.

This is when May Thomas began crying in the interview, 'I didn't know Jared couldn't swim.'

'But you didn't help him when Bradley Townsend pushed him in?' Daphne argued, 'There were four other people present why didn't any of them help him?'

'I don't know!' May Thomas cried, 'Bradley was laughing until Jared didn't come back up and then he was just floating there.'

Daphne glared at May Thomas and shook her heads, 'Yet you still didn't call for help. Did you?'

May Thomas shook her head and she cried, 'No.'

'You all left his body there until the class of freshman students found him in their swimming class.' Daphne said.

May Thomas wiped her eyes, 'I know it was wrong.'

'But you did nothing to stop it.' Fred said.

'You and your friends told police you were concerned that Jared was suicidal though it was a shock when you heard he had been found dead in the swimming pool, and you claimed to have had an alibi.' Daphne spoke, 'You told police that you were smoking behind the bleachers after you skipped class.'

May Thomas nodded.

'You went smoking after you killed Jared Stevens.'

'I didn't kill him.' May Thomas protested.

'You didn't help him, you just watched, you killed him.' Daphne remarked.

Addie Halder avoided the charges as she really was not involved in the murder of Jared Stevens, however, the others had all been charged with 2nd-degree murder. It was Bradley Townsend who pushed him into the pool and neither of the others helped Jared Stevens get out of the pool, they watched as he struggled and drowned.

James Stevens was charged with 6 counts of kidnapping and accepted all charges, much to the surprise of Daphne and Fred who believed he would put up a fight against the charges. James Stevens would likely face prison time for the kidnappings, but he seemed to accept the punishment for his crimes.

'So, Captain, what do you wanna do tonight?'

'Daph, it's only temporary, our new captain is starting next week.' Fred replied.

'I know, but you're my captain.'

Fred felt his cheeks burning. He stood in front of the mirror and saw that they were bright red. He pulled his tie off and hung it over the wardrobe door.

When he turned to face Daphne, he saw that familiar look on her face, and he walked towards her. Wrapping his arms around her, but before he could capture her lips in a fierce kiss she said, 'I was thinking we could order pizza and watched a movie.'

'Later.' Fred replied, and he kissed her this time.

Daphne smiled, she knew how to push his buttons and she liked having that control.

Fred laid her down in the bed before he climbed on top of her, and she tried to suppress her giggling as he nibbled on her neck and unbuttoned her shirt.

She pulled at the buttons on his shirt before she pulled it off his shoulders and throwing somewhere to the floor.

Fred started unbuttoning her jeans and wasted no time pulling them off. Daphne pulled at the buttons on his jeans and began to slide them down his legs. Fred began kissing his way down her body and pulled her panties down, and she gasped when she felt his lips there.

'Freddie!'

He chuckled against her, and she took a fist full of his hair and tugged it lightly.

He groaned as he licked her up and down, and Daphne's head fell back into the pillow, moaning at the sensation. Then he suddenly pulled his lips away from her, 'Fred!' Daphne growled, but he laughed, and he slid up her body and captured her lips with his.

He slid off his boxers, positioning himself above her and slid inside.

He took her hand away from his neck, holding her hand tightly next to her head, into the pillow, whilst his other hand brushed through the locks of her red hair. Thrusting in and out of her.

He pulled his lips away from hers and kissed down to the spot on her neck, 'So,' He spoke between kissed, 'You wanna order pizza after?'

Daphne gasped, along with a half-suppressed laugh, 'Oh yeah that sounds great.'

Over in Carnegie Hill, at the home of Compass Halder.

Addie and Tobias Halder were busy preparing dinner, relieved that their son had been returned safely, they were making his favourite foods and planned on spoiling him all night.

His favourite meal was mac and cheese, but Addie Halder was also making him garlic bread and some cheesy fries to go with it. She also had a bag of popcorn in the cupboard and Compass' favourite movies.

Her husband was helping her cook, he was grating the cheese for the macaroni and the fries, both with their backs to the living room where Compass was sat on the couch with a stuffed teddy bear at his side and a stack of playing cards in his hand. His grandmother had brought them for him at the zoo when they visited her a few years ago.

Compass picked the top card from the pile, he held it in his hands, studying the picture of a lion before he flicked the card, and it vanished.

He reached for the coaster on the table, lifting it up and there it was - his card.
