Nick drove straight from the station to go to collect Jesse. Again, he parked up, and this time put Billie into her pram and pushed her up to the collection point. Before he even seen her, he heard Jesse shouting Nick and she ran up to him with a huge grin on her face. I missed you she said as he laughed, picking her up and giving her a huge hug. Hey princesa he said, and kissed her cheek, you have a good day? Yeah, she said excitedly, he put her back down and she started to hand him all her belongings. I painted a picture for you she said excitedly. You did? Yeah, she said, and I painted one for mummy too. Oh, lovely he said smiling, I can't wait to see them. You have to wait until tomorrow she said, they are still drying. Ok he said laughing. She handed him her cardigan and he hung it on the pram handles along with her schoolbag. She was waving to some of her friends and talking to them as he made sure he had everything. Ok princesa he said, we gotta go get Noah. Say bye to your friends. Bye she said, just as they were about to leave, he heard someone calling Mr Amaro. He turned to see the class teacher calling him. Hold on Jesse he said. I'm sorry she said, I'm just trying to get a hold of a few parents privately as we've just got his information and we can't tell it publicly yet. He went to explain he wasn't Jesse's parent, but she carried on, it's just we've just had word from the education board that there is a chance the school will be closing this week due to the surge in cases again, and because Amanda works where she works, we know she will need to put arrangements in place if it does happen. Oh, Ok, said Nick, she continued, we are updating our contact lists just in case and we don't have a contact number for you as you've just been added over the weekend. Would it be possible to get a phone number for you in case we need to contact you in an emergency? Nick was taken by surprise, yes of course you can he said, he opened his wallet and said, here, this is my card with all my contact details on it. I'll be going back to California soon for a while though he added, but I can always get in contact with someone to collect her if Amanda's not available. Great thank you she said. Can you just let Amanda know and tell her we will be open for children of essential workers like herself if she needs us? Nick nodded, yes, I will he said, thank you, hopefully it won't come to that though. They said their goodbyes and Nick walked back to the car with the girls. Once he had strapped them in and put the pram back into the back of the car, they set off to collect Noah. Once he had all 3 children back in the car he took them back to his house to collect all their belongings. Once everything was tidied up and packed up, they were back in the car and heading back to Amanda's house.
Amanda walked back into the squad room and sat down at her desk. She looked around, Olivia and Fin were no-where to be found. She logged back onto her computer to check her emails. 5 minutes later Kat arrived back in from Lunch. She sat down quickly and said where's the Captain? I'm not sure she replied, don't know where Fin is either. You long back? asked Kat, Amanda smiled, nope, literally 5 minutes before you. The 2 ladies smiled at each other. Stick to the story said Amanda, only we met up after lunch instead of before, Kat looked at her, Carisi stopped me in Nick's car as we were about to leave. So technically I didn't get away early at all. Great, said Kat, yeah tell me about it she said annoyed. Anyway 10 minutes later Olivia, Fin and Carisi walked in. Hey you two said Olivia, hi they both said. You two have a nice lunch? asked Amanda. We did yes said Olivia, I gotta say, I'm enjoying my day today she smiled, had a lovely night last night, no rushing this morning and no rushing this evening or tomorrow morning, I could get used to this life again she joked. Well don't get too used to it, as much as I love Noah, I'm not looking for a 3rd kid anytime soon said Amanda. All 4 of them stopped in their tracks and looked at Amanda in shock, anytime soon, or anytime at all? asked Kat suspiciously, yeah said Fin, you thinking about another kid? What, oh no… guys I didn't mean it like that, she said quickly blushing. In fact, I'm not thinking of anymore kids she said, single mum to my two is stressful enough. No thanks she said. Olivia laughed, you sure? cause Noah's hitting this great age, no, I'm good thanks interrupted Amanda. You can have him back tomorrow. Olivia laughed. Fin teased, I thought after your lunch with Amaro you had more than food in your belly. What date is it 9/10 months from now? he joked, Just in case. Fin! Shouted Amanda, she scrunched up a piece of paper and threw it at him. It was lunch and that was it, it was nothing like that, anyway we had Billie with us. Not that it matters anyway, cause even if we didn't, nothing happened or was going to happen. Fin and Kat couldn't stop themselves from laughing. Olivia was smirking trying not to laugh.
Sonny was huffing and over making himself a coffee. He walked back over and grumpily said, we gonna get some work done here or what? Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at him. Right Carisi said Olivia really annoyed now, what is wrong with you? We're all having a good laugh here, and that's twice you've snapped. Nothing's wrong with me he said trying not to sound grumpy, just can we move on from King Nick and get back to work now? Hey! said Olivia sternly, that's my friend you're talking about, our friend corrected Fin, yeah said Amanda and Kat, Sonny looked at Kat, you don't even know him Kat. Hey, just because I only met him the other day does not mean I don't like him. He seems to be a great guy, and he's a friend of my TEAM, everyone else in the squad room, INCLUDING the Chief, was happy to see him and talking about him after he left the other day, so that's good enough for me, so whatever your problem is, doesn't mean it's my problem. Amanda said nothing. Fin then said, yeah man, whatever your problem is, sort it, either speak to Nick about whatever happened between you two or forget about it. Nothing happened between them said Amanda bluntly, with her chin leaning in her hand, she looked at her computer screen and clicked on an email. All 4 of them looked at her, Carisi looking annoyed. What do you mean nothing happened? Fin asked. Just that, said Amanda, as far as Nick is concerned, nothing's wrong between the 2 of them, she said sitting back on her chair. In fact she said in her georgian drawl, he was asking me what was up with him the other night.
They looked at him and he didn't know where to look. Yeah, said Amanda coldly, Nick noticed your mood the other night at my place she said, which is why he took Jesse into the bedroom to read a book as he felt there was an atmosphere. We talked about it earlier after we left you actually. He noticed today again too. So, she said getting up from her seat, whatever your problem is, you need to sort it yourself and not with Nick, as he's done nothing wrong and is as confused as the rest of us. She lifted her phone and walked towards the bunk room. He went to follow her, and Olivia said, no, you stay here Carisi, I think you've done enough. But…. He began to say, but nothing she said crossly. This is the happiest I've seen Rollins in a long time she said annoyed at him, and you behaving the way you are is not on. I'll go and check on Amanda she said, you're that interested in getting back to work, go ahead I'm not stopping you. And with that she walked off to find Amanda. Sonny looked at Fin and Kat, but they said nothing, I'm sorry guys he said, Fin just ignored him, Kat said, it's not me you should be apologising to Carisi. The captain's right, Rollins has been so happy since she found out Nick was coming to visit, in fact both Rollins and the Captain have been different. Yeah, said Fin, you need to do something about that jealousy of yours Carisi, you know how those two were when Nick had to leave, and you know Amanda took it harder for obvious reasons. Seeing those two so happy has made me happy he said. So, sort yourself out before you get any deeper.
Amanda sat on one of the bunks and phoned Nick. She was angry, upset and pissed at Carisi. Nick answered after a few rings. Hey you, he said cheerily, what's got you calling? Oh, nothing she said, I just needed to hear your voice. Ok he said concerned, I haven't heard that sentence in 6 years, what's wrong? what's happened? Nothing she lied, just, I needed to hear you she said. Well, we are definitely picking up from where we left off 6 years ago then, he joked. Yes, she said with certainty, we are, no more messing about and hiding from that fact Amaro, that's where we're starting from. Ok he said again, Amanda are you sure everything's OK? She smiled, it is now I have spoken to you, before she could say anything else Olivia walked in, Amanda smiled at her, So, she continued, how's Jess? She's good he said, Here I'll put you onto her, Amanda talked to Jesse for a bit before Nick came back on. You sure you're ok cariño? She smiled, yeah, I am now, what are you up to? Nothing he said, we're just waiting for Noah to come out of school, which reminds me he said, I need to talk to you when you get home. Jesse's teacher stopped me and mentioned off the record that they might be closing the schools this week again. Shit, she said. Well, he said, there's nothing definite yet, they're just getting things in plan. But we can talk about that when you come home anyway. Ok she said rubbing her eyes, Liv's here with me she said, I'll tell her, but we'll not tell anyone else. Ok, he said. Right, she sighed. You feel better now? he asked. Yes, I do, she said, a lot, thank you. I'll talk to you when I get home OK. Will do cariño see you later. Yep, see you later and Thank you again. They hung up and Amanda sighed a heavy sigh. Hey, Olivia said sitting down beside her rubbing her shoulder, you OK? Amanda smiled I am yeah, look just ignore Sonny she said to Olivia, whatever his problem is, he's going to have to sort it out himself, I'm not about to stop feeling happy just because he feels put out. Olivia sighed, yeah, but he can't go around calling Nick names either she said. If he's jealous, then he shouldn't call round to yours or annoy me. We're allowed to have friends and a life outside of here. Amanda smiled, yeah, we are. So, what did Nick have to say? Oh, we can't tell anyone else, but Jesse's teacher pulled Nick to the side to tell him there's talk that the schools are closing again this week because of cases rising. Oh Shit said Olivia, yeah she said, so we'll need to try and plan ahead. My problem being, Chloe's already out of action. She stopped and thought quietly, what's up Rollins? asked Olivia, nothing she said, just something Nick said to me. Well what was it? Um nothing said Amanda, I think I've heard him wrong. I'll double check it when I get home tonight.
Ok she said, shall we get back to work? Olivia laughed, sure, come on. They walked down the stairs and Olivia said, so what was Nick doing anyway? Oh, they were in the car waiting for Noah to get out of school she said. Amanda returned to her desk and Olivia walked into her office, Fin and Carisi were in another corner of the room. Kat walked over to Amanda and sat down on the empty chair. You OK? Yeah, Amanda sighed, sorry about all that she said. Hey you've nothing to be sorry about said Kat, you've done nothing wrong, unless being happy and having other male friends that are not Carisi is a crime, then he can go fuck himself. Amanda laughed, yeah, I know but still, still nothing Kat went on, if he's jealous of Nick, because he's your friend, then he should have a word with himself. If he's jealous of Nick because you were or are more than friends, then he should have made a move on you years ago. Amanda smiled, Thanks Kat. No worries she said. Hey Amanda said, have you any plans tonight? No, not a damn thing said Kat, and Amanda laughed, well I've got the 3 kids tonight but if you fancy coming round for a drink or two you're more than welcome. Aw, nah I'm sure you'll want some time to yourself she said, hey I'll have plenty of time to myself when Nick goes home, she said, yeah but will he not want to call by after his dinner with the Captain? Amanda looked at her with a small smile and tilted her head, no he won't she said, it's not like that at all she lied. We're just friends. Kat looked at her and smiled, yeah right, but if you're sure, I'll call by, why not. I wanna hear all about Nick. Oh, you fancy your chances with him? teased Amanda laughing, nope, I'm still not interested Kat replied, anyway, I'm pretty sure he's taken, even if she won't admit it to herself yet, she said and walked away.
The rest of the afternoon they done paperwork and chased up on case files that needed closed. It wasn't often they didn't have a case, so they embraced this time whenever it came about.
Fin came and sat by Amanda and waited until she was finished her phone call. When she hung up she smiled at him, hey she said cheerily, you OK? Fin chuckled, funny, I was going to ask you the same thing. She smiled at him, yes, I'm fine, no I'm not going to speak to Sonny and no, I'm not going to tell Nick what happened today. Fin nodded his head, well I can understand that he said, but why not tell Nick? She sighed, because I don't want an argument, I don't want to upset Nick, and I don't want to waste any time I do have with him talking about Sonny. Fin nodded again, fair enough. As long as you're Ok. She smiled; I promise I'm good she said. And I'll be even better when I get home, put my comfies on and snuggle with the girls. What not Noah? joked Olivia as she walked out. Amanda laughed, hey, if Noah wants a snuggle, he's more than welcome to have a snuggle too.
She looked at the clock, god this afternoon is dragging in she sighed. Is that because you want to get home to see Nick or because you're off the rest of the week teased Fin. Amanda smiled pressing her lips together, shut it you. I just think I'm not used to not running around everywhere, between no case and no kids for 2 days, I'm bored she laughed, I never thought I'd say that. Bet you by 8pm tonight you'll be saying something very different said Olivia, Amanda laughed, yeah probably. Let me have this moment she said, I may never feel it again so take note she laughed. Oh, I'm taking plenty of notes this week Rollins, don't you worry about that teased Fin. Amanda didn't even give him a reply, just a look.
