Right so when I said "oh see you in five months" that was actually a joke-

See, instead of writing during the summer like I should have, I watched softball and thought about how much I should write. And then I didn't.

But for some reason, when school is starting, I suddenly want to like... write again? I'm not sure. Confusing times.

Anyways, I'd like to try to update this fic at least once a month, but judging that the level of schooling that I am in is the level of a fair amount of homework, we will see about updates. I will try, though. Hopefully.

If not, see you in March :D

Anyways uh reviews (I somehow have some)? I forgot how this whole ffnet bullshit worked

Anyways, here is 3K of semi plot-related madness! I will be shocked if you can read this and like it because it is a piece of disjointed garbage

but enjoy? I guess?

"So, Blossompaw, is it true?" Mapledusk asked from her perch on the small rock she was sunbathing on, waving her silky tail.

"Pardon?" Blossompaw glanced up from where she was clearing out the elder's den, dragging another large clump of moss from the hollow tree.

Her quarter moon was almost up, and it had been agonizing. She hadn't gotten to go out of camp for anything except using the dirtplace, and had cleaned all the dens at least twice.

"Oh, well, I heard that you and Heatherpaw got in a fight while I was out." Mapledusk explained, rolling onto her back. She turned her gaze to Blossompaw, a mischievous sparkle in it. "Did you win?"

Blossompaw shrugged, shaking some of the moss off of her claws. "Nope. Our mentors broke it up almost immediately, which was good."

"Eh, probably." Mapledusk sighed, grooming her chest fur. "Still, there's barely been any excitement in this Clan. It's all been happening in Thunderclan and Windclan!"

"I wouldn't exactly call that excitement…" Blossompaw pointed out, heading back into the small den. "I mean, I wouldn't want to be in a war."

"You're right… or that poor apprentice, bless his soul." Mapledusk remarked solemnly, angling her gaze towards the sky briefly. "Still, I don't want my last days to be spent in boredom."

"Woah, woah, you're not dead yet, calm down." Blossompaw joked, aiming a half-hearted smile at the elder. "Still, peace is good. I'm just glad that Shadowclan is staying out of all this stuff. I mean, I guess Riverclan is too…"

"Oo, wouldn't be so sure about that." Mapledusk replied softly, eyes glinting. "There's a little rumor going around that Riverclan and Thunderclan are allied now. Flamestar's sure got another problem now, Specklestar is hard to piss off…"

Blossompaw gaped at the elder in surprise, blue gaze widening with surprise. "They are? I talked to Flashpaw at the Gathering, and he never said a thing. And he can never keep his mouth shut." She rolled her eyes. "Still, would Specklestar really do that?"

"Oh, she would." Mapledusk nodded, shifting closer to Blossompaw. "She's always been more of a peacekeeper, but think about Riverclan's second-in-command, Hollowsplash."

Blossompaw frowned. "I dunno how he could organize an alliance… I mean, he's only a deputy!"

"Only a deputy?" Mapledusk repeated, shocked. "For goodness's sake child, listen to yourself! He has just as much power as Pebbleblaze does, probably more now that he and Eaglespark will be working together! This could be a serious threat to our Clan!"

"Well, I'm sure Tansystar and Pebbleblaze will be watching the situation closely." Blossompaw replied, itching to leave this conversation and tell Honeypaw. Finally, something new!

"Pfft, I think maybe the latter." Mapledusk snorted, disdain flickering into her expression briefly, though it faded. "Now, run along, why don't you, you've done plenty here."

"Of course, Mapledusk." Blossompaw picked up the soiled moss, heading away. As soon as she was out of Mapledusk's view, she practically threw it away, racing towards the apprentice's den.

"Honeypaw!" She exclaimed, skidding to a stop outside of it. The golden apprentice stuck her head out, tilting her head curiously at Blossompaw.

"What?" She asked, gaze brightening. "Jeez, Blossompaw, I haven't seen you this excited since you've been punished. What's got you worked up?"

"Apparently there's a rumor-" Blossompaw saw Honeypaw's attention snap towards her at that.

"What rumor?" She cut in. "Ooo, c'mon, is it about Thunderclan? Maybe something more than petty gossip?"

"Oh god, what are you two plotting about this time?" Birchpaw's voice came from behind them, and the dark ginger apprentice sat up, rolling his eyes. "I mean, it's probably not even true."

"Oh, I think this one is real." Blossompaw promised him, gaze twinkling with excitement.

"Well, go on then!" Honeypaw exclaimed, settling back onto her haunches, staring at her eagerly.

"Welllll, Mapledusk told me that Thunderclan and Riverclan might be allied!" Blossompaw squeaked, eyes glinting. "Which, if that's true, Windclan's so dead."

"Wait, like, seriously?" Honeypaw gaped at her, green eyes wide with shock.

"Yeah!" Blossompaw nodded quickly. "Like, really really."

The golden cat took a shocked step back, her eyes the size of saucers. "Starclan… but why would Specklestar ally with Skystar?"

"Well, it makes sense to me." Birchpaw cut in, shifting into the space between Honeypaw and Blossompaw. "Think about it. Flamestar has literally proven to be a danger to all Clans, and Specklestar shares a border with her. Allying with Skystar, who is safer, will both protect her Clan and help eliminate the threat."

A small silence fell over the trio before Blossompaw spoke up again.

"Exactly." She coughed. "What… what he said."

Honeypaw nodded. "You're right… but they said nothing at the Gathering!"

"I know, and I told Mapledusk that, but she said it could've happened after that." Blossompaw explained. "Which is fully plausible, it's already been a half moon."

Honeypaw nodded thoughtfully, before turning to Birchpaw almost immediately. "Speaking of that particular Gathering, what did you and Palepaw do?"

Honeypaw's brother seemed to be floored for a good few heartbeats before choking out a response.

"Well, y'know, we… we just…" Birchpaw's ears were crimson, and Blossompaw chuckled under her breath. I knew it.

"We talked." He finished, embarrassment shimmering in his sky-blue gaze.

"About your undying adoration for each other?" Honeypaw put in, raising an eyebrow skeptically.

"What?!" Birchpaw spluttered, once again flustered. "No! Just about…" His shoulders sagged in defeat. "It's kind of obvious, you don't need to rub it in."

Honeypaw giggled. "I know, I know. And I'm happy for you, honest. Just… how are you going to tell Moonpaw?"

Birchpaw sighed heavily. "Here's your answer. I'm not."

Blossompaw tilted her head. "But why? I mean, she'll figure it out eventually."

"Well, she'll just have to deal with it." Honeypaw shrugged. "But, just a tip, keep Palepaw close when she does find out. I'm predicting a few assassination attempts."

"Please, I don't think it'll be that bad-" Birchpaw's mew was cut off by a mew from behind them.

"Blossompaw." Pebbleblaze's mew made her freeze, and Blossompaw turned around slowly, her brown and white pelt bristling with surprise.

"Oh, uh, hello." She stuttered nervously, dipping her head quickly to the Shadowclan deputy. "Is there something I can do?"

"Not at the moment, no." The mottled cat shook his head. "I just wanted to inform you that you're allowed out of camp again."

Blossompaw gave a heavy sigh of relief, and only nodded again, a smile spreading on her face.

"I will add, though, that if something like that happens again, the punishment will be much more severe." Pebbleblaze added sharply, before turning, stalking back the way he had come.

"It's good you can finally be out of camp again." Honeypaw told her gratefully. "Then I won't have to be stuck with Moonpaw on patrols all the time."

Blossompaw rolled her eyes, getting to her paws. "Please, she's not that bad when she's tired. She talks less."

Birchpaw didn't seem to be focused on the deputy's announcement at all, only staring curiously after where the gray tom had departed.

"Did… something seem off with Pebbleblaze?" He asked quietly, gaze narrow with suspicion.

"I mean, kinda." Honeypaw only flicked her tail dismissively at her brother. "He seemed a little more stressed or whatever, but I bet it's just deputy stuff."

The ginger cat frowned. "Maybe…"

Blossompaw shook out her fur, not listening to the pair of them. "I… I think I'm going to go out." She told them.

"Oh?" Honeypaw tilted her head curiously. "To see who?"

Blossompaw sighed. "Well, I haven't seen Forrest since I was punished, and I want to make sure he's not dead."

The golden cat's face fell slightly, obviously disappointed Blossompaw wasn't in some forbidden relationship or something like that, before standing up as well.

"Well… could I come?" She asked. "I promise I won't go crazy and try to kill him like we were taught to."

Blossompaw frowned, almost wanting to decline Honeypaw's request, but only sighed in defeat. "Sure, you can come." She glanced at Birchpaw. "Let me guess, you want to come too?"

The dark ginger cat shook his head. "I'm not as nosy as my sister, plus Palepaw will be back from patrol soon. I'm fine staying here."

Blossompaw rolled her eyes. "Thank Starclan for that." She muttered, before looking at Honeypaw. "Come on. Don't you dare tell anyone about this."

"Who would I tell?" The fluffy she-cat retorted cockily. "Everyone already knows."

Blossompaw shot her a death glare before padding out of camp.

—-

The sun that had been shining earlier had been sucked from the sky, and a dark cloud cover was all that remained. The chill that swept through the air signaled that leaf-fall was on its way, and Blossompaw bushed out her fur, thankful for the thick pines that sheltered them.

"So, what's he like?" Honeypaw asked, unaware of Blossompaw's hatred of the cold. "I mean, you're gonna have to give me something to go off of. If you're willing to get in a fight over him, he must be cool."

"You'll see." Blossompaw replied evenly, letting a hint of exasperation creep into her voice. "For once, just be patient."

"Ah, not a strong suit for me, I'm afraid." The golden she-cat replied, now deciding to peer at the trees for signs of movement. Blossompaw withheld a tired sigh, it wasn't as if she was going to find anything in there anyways.

"Anyways… What's he like?" Honeypaw repeated, grinning cockily, and Blossompaw shot her a withering glare before darting off towards the border, not waiting for the honey colored cat to catch up.

The trek to the border went much quicker after that, and a few minutes later, Blossompaw skidded to a stop near the edge of the scent markers, motioning for Honeypaw to stay quiet with a wave of her tail. The other she-cat obliged begrudgingly, squinting into the shadows of the pines.

"Forrest?" Blossompaw called, her voice soft at first. She paused, falling silent, and glanced around, noticing the nearly invisible paw prints on the ground. Her half-brother had definitely been around here, and still might be.

As if answering her thoughts, a familiar voice came from behind her, laced with sarcasm. "You rang?"

Honeypaw, surprised, let out a shocked squeak, tail bushing out in surprise as she whipped around. Blossompaw gave a dramatic sigh, and turned around as well, frowning.

"Glad to see you're still alive, I guess." She snapped, not in the mood for Forrest's attitude.

The brown tabby opened his mouth to respond, but Honeypaw beat him to it.

"So this is the cat that you got in a fight over, Blossompaw?"

Blossompaw winced at her words, but only nodded. She hadn't been planning to tell Forrest that, but it was too late now.

"Pardon?" The silky voice of her half-brother slipped through her response, and Blossompaw nearly groaned aloud at the almost sadistic delight that glowed in his eyes at Honeypaw's words. "You got in a what over me?"

"I got in a- ugh, never mind." Blossompaw sighed, looking away. "You are both insufferable." She snapped instead, trying to bury the embarrassed blush that crept up her cheeks.

"Aww, Blossy, c'mon." Forrest teased, coming up to lean on her side. "I'm touched, really. It means a lot."

"First off, do not call me that." Blossompaw snapped, aiming a glance towards the golden she-cat, who's gaze signified that she was going to be calling Blossompaw that a lot in the near future. Some things were really hopeless, such as Honeypaw.

"Second, it wasn't for you. It was more about my mother than anything." She finished, the truth stinging her heart. The word "mother" had been a conversation-stopper for her ever since she could talk.

As she predicted, a pause came over the clearing, Forrest obviously being speechless, and Honeypaw's silence showing that she knew what thin ice the subject was.

Finally, after a few moments, Blossompaw decided to break the silence herself, letting out an irritated sigh.

"You don't have to be on a vow of silence now. I just thought I'd explain before you jump to conclusions." She muttered, her twitching tail being an active demonstrator of her irritation.

Forrest was the first to speak up, a rarity. "Well, I… I hope everything turned out alright for you."

It was strange to hear kindness from him or anything but sarcasm and mysterious remarks, and Blossompaw was taken aback by it. However, her response was cut off by Honeypaw.

"Well, she got confined to camp for a quarter moon, but other than that, she was good." The golden she-cat confirmed, slipping back into her normal gossipy demeanor. "I mean, wow, the elder's den has never been so clean."

The joke didn't land for Forrest, and Honeypaw's easy smile dropped into a disappointed frown as she noticed. Blossompaw stifled a laugh, it was about time her friend figured out that not everyone was prone to her jokes and thinly veiled insults.

"Well… that doesn't sound too bad." The brown tabby replied stiffly, obviously unsure of how to respond.

"Yeah, but it was because of you, which makes it worse." Blossompaw griped, lashing her tail. "And if you hadn't been dancing around the fucking border, maybe none of it would've happened."

"I wasn't dancing!" Forrest wrinkled his nose, looking offended. "I was just… having fun! You can't have fun without a little danger, right?"

"Well you'll have no fun if you end up dead." Blossompaw hissed. She stepped back, shoulders sagging. "I just… I don't want you to end up dead."

"I'd rather not die either." Forrest admitted, shrugging leisurely. "I mean, following the same path as my mother would not be great."

"Wait... " Honeypaw looked at each of them in turn, tilting her head in confusion. "Which parent do you guys have in common? Because I can't really tell."

Blossompaw gulped nervously. "Uh… Riverthorn."

Honeypaw gasped, eyes blown wide with shock, but Blossompaw could spot the unbridled joy that lay behind that gasp, and knew that if she didn't threaten Honeypaw extensively, the entire Clan would know about it.

She loved gossip, but not when she was involved in it.

"Yeah, I hear he's kind of a jackass." Forrest cut in, yawning. "Not my problem, though, because I never met him."

"Well, he's still your dad." Blossompaw snapped. "And he's mine too, and I'd like him to be proud of me."

Forrest raised an eyebrow at her. "Seems like a stupid waste of time. If he's such a dick, just forget about him."

"You don't understand!" Blossompaw shouted, digging her claws into the dirt. "You've never had to impress anyone! All you do is hunt and sleep and be lonely and sad!"

"And look at all the hot Clan toms." Forrest added, winking.

"Hah!" Honeypaw let out a bark of laughter. "I knew it! I mean, sorry bud, if you were straight, I'd go walk into the lake and kill myself."

"Please don't do that." Blossompaw mumbled. "Then I'm stuck with Moonpaw."

"Who has been crying about Birchpaw for a quarter moon." Honeypaw sighed loudly. "I mean, gosh, is my brother really that hot?"

"I mean, you wouldn't know." Blossompaw sniped back. "All you do is look at all the hot Clan she-cats."

"True." Honeypaw nodded, grinning. "There really are a lot of them."

"Wait, is your brother the ginger one?" Forrest cut in. "Because he's cute."

"And taken." Blossompaw cut in, trying to defend poor Palepaw from her half-brother. "Very, very taken."

"By you?" Forrest glanced at her curiously.

"No." Blossompaw grimaced, shaking her head rapidly. "No, no, no. Absolutely not. I don't… like toms. Or she-cats. I just… I don't like anyone."

"Fair enough." Honeypaw admitted. "Our Clan is full of twats."

"Seems like it." Forrest said, flicking his tail leisurely. "Anyways, I should be heading out. Wouldn't want to stink up the border with my rogue piss."

"Please say you didn't mark the border." Blossompaw shut her eyes, praying to Starclan.

"Oh, don't worry. Now they know I'm trying to well… piss them off." Forrest chuckled, before shrugging. "Anyways, what's the harm? They won't catch me."

"You'll be dead if they do." Blossompaw pressed urgently, fear pressing at her.

Forrest sighed. "Don't worry, kinda sis. They'll forget about me in a few moons anyways."

Will they? Blossompaw wondered, but she only sighed and gave up. "If you say so. We… should get going." She admitted, glancing at Honeypaw. "Cats will start to wonder where we are."

"See you soon, hopefully!" Honeypaw called over her shoulder, smirking.

"Same to you." Forrest retorted. "I liked you a lot more than I thought I would. After all, I thought Blossompaw's friends would be more like her. Uptight and stressed out."

Blossompaw stuck out her tongue at him before turning around, heading back into the shady pine forest.

They reached camp as the sun began to set, casting dappled patterns through the trees. Blossompaw yawned, all the walking had made her tired.

"Well, that was fun." Honeypaw remarked from beside her, flicking her fluffy tail.

Blossompaw shrugged. "Yeah…"

She looked ahead, only to find the camp in complete chaos.

"... it was."

Bolting forwards, she ran into the fray, trying to seek out one of her fellow apprentices. Spotting Palepaw near the elder's den, she shouldered her way towards him, confusion filling her.

"What's going on?" She exclaimed, skidding to a halt with Honeypaw beside her.

"We leave for what, ten minutes, and everything goes to shit?" The golden apprentice asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Tansystar lost a life!" Palepaw gasped, green eyes wide with horror. "And w-where he died, it smells of Riverclan! It stinks of their filth!"

Blossompaw was sent reeling, shock filling her brain.

"W…What?" She murmured, sharing a confused glance with Honeypaw. "But why would they do that?"

"Who cares why?" Moonpaw hissed from where she was picking debris out of her fur. "Specklestar obviously had some reason. Letting rogues and kittypets in her Clan… I can't imagine what she's thinking."

Birchpaw frowned. "But Riverclan is so… calm, and this is so… unlike them. If anything, it's more like…"

"Windclan, who we don't have a border with." Blossompaw finished. "So it has to be Riverclan, who is allied with Thunderclan, which would make it…"

"Stupid to attack them." Honeypaw shrugged. "Maybe that's why they did it. To prove to us how strong they are."

Blossompaw glanced towards Pebbleblaze, who was talking with Tansystar and Shadestrike. Shadowclan's leader looked shaky on his paws, and Blossompaw didn't blame him. If she had been recently murdered, she'd be a bit shaken up too.

"So… let's assume it was Riverclan." She started cautiously, shifting her paws nervously. "What's the next step?"

"I… retaliation, I guess?" Birchpaw shrugged. "Whatever it's going to be, it won't be good." The ginger tom's eyes were dark.

"Because I think that whoever killed Tansystar wants to tear the Clans apart."

just your average Clan-threatening day, y'know? Anyways uh yes here Shadowclan gets some Spice to their life which is pretty great for them, also the two gayest cats in the Shadowclan area get to meet while the least gayest cat sits there and suffers. What a vibe

Also Moonpaw is heartbroken lmaoooOO that's what happens when you're straight- Who knows, maybe she and Heatherpaw will hook up. It's my book, after all

Well, have a good day (or night, because it is actually night for me) and keep writing shit! Maybe go post on AO3 or something it seems a lot less sketchy then here (Sorry ffnet no offense but that's where I read fics now)

Uh yep here's the signature

be crimes do gay
