Tris POV:
I woke up in Tobias' arms. He was still asleep. I ran my fingers through his chocolate-colored hair. He has soft hair. His eyes opened and they were filled with warmth.
"Good morning beautiful," He kissed my forehead.
"Good morning to you handsome," He chuckled.
"I really don't want to get up but we have half an hour before the initiates come. Are you sure you want to train them today?"
I knew Tobias was worried about me but after beating up Peter, I was satisfied. There was no use dwelling over my pain. It would heal.
"I'm coming, let me get ready first though," He nodded.
I got up slowly, and made it to the bathroom. I put on a shirt slightly wincing at my movements. I added a black leather jacket along with black leggings but didn't bother doing anything to my face. We had fifteen minutes left now. Tobias hurried and quickly changed, wearing his matching leather jacket and black pants with a shirt. Without saying anything, he helped me put my ankle boots on before pulling on his own shoes. We both got up and he jogged forward to the kitchen to grab two muffins. I walked behind him, slower than usual. Careful of my ribs, he snaked his arm around my waist. We both walked to the training room, just eating our muffins in comfortable silence. Once there, it was 6:55 am. Tobias helped me get on one of the tables as I finished off the last of my muffin.
"You're not moving from this spot now understand?"
"Okay fine," I grumbled. I really wanted to help with shooting practice today but I'd have to wait. Even if I could stand without wincing, Tobias wouldn't let me.
Eventually, the initiates started coming in. I noticed that the idiot trio was last to enter. Tobias was clenching his fists and I knew seeing them had angered him. I shot him a look to control himself and gave him a small smile. He smiled back.
"Today we will be learning how to shoot a gun. I'm going to demonstrate only once so you all better pay attention." Tobias picked up a gun just as Damien spoke out.
"Why can't Six demonstrate?" Damien asked while smirking. He really had a death wish.
Before he knew it, Tobias was pointing a gun at his forehead.
"I would've thought you've learned your lesson after Six almost broke your knee. We don't like cowardice in Dauntless and what you did yesterday was enough to turn you factionless. Be glad that we're letting you get off with one warning." Tobias replied harshly. The rest of the initiates stood silently.
Damien immediately started looking down. Adrian and Ethan seemed to be keeping their distance as well. Probably not wanting to get in trouble again. Suddenly though, Colette spoke up.
"Are you okay Six?" She asked gently, afraid that Four might shoot at her. Four lowered his gun and went back to the target as I responded.
"I'm better now. Thanks for asking," I nodded at her.
"As I was saying, watch closely as I will only do this once," Four stared at the target and shot three times. All three bullets hit the bullseye. The initiates were clearly in awe, and slightly terrified.
"Well? Grab your guns and get started!" I called out.
They all rushed to grab a gun. Damien limped to get his and I felt happy, even though I shouldn't.
All the initiates lined up. Today, we would cut the four initiates after tallying up all their scores with the Dauntless-born. Tobias and Uriah agreed to do this together while Christina stayed with me this afternoon.
Colette wasn't shooting at first, but I noticed her trying to get her form straight. She looked back at me and I gave her a thumbs-up. She was the first to hit the center, and was clearly proud of herself.
"Hey Adrian! Know what a target is?" Jackson called out.
Adrian didn't reply. He was the only one left to hit the bullseye. It was nearly lunch time before he finally managed to hit it.
I watched the rest of the initiates silently as Tobias paced behind them, fixing a few of their forms, helping them hold the gun properly. Jackson quickly caught on at this part, most of his shots hitting near the center.
"Okay! You all can go to lunch now. Remember to be here by seven tomorrow morning. You're all dismissed." The initiates scurried out at Tobias' last words.
"They're definitely afraid of you," I giggled.
"Good. Let's get you to lunch now shall we,"
He carefully helped me off the table. My ribs were bandaged under my shirt and really annoying me. Tobias gently grabbed my hand and we walked at a slow pace to the cafeteria. Once I sat down with our friends, he went and got us both trays of food. There were hamburgers today.
"I still remember when you didn't know what a hamburger was," Christina said. "The look on your face was quite amusing."
"I'm no longer the small Abnegation girl you first met either," I replied.
"You two are literally feared by everyone in the compound," Marlene added.
"Four's personality is definitely rubbing off on you," Uriah said.
"Hey! I am not that scary!" Four replied.
"It's okay little Four. We're not scared of you," Zeke teased. Four glared at him.
"I take that back you're scary," We all laughed.
Once lunch time was over, Four walked me back to the apartment. Christina said she'll come over in ten minutes and Four would head over to Uriah's to handle the scoring of the initiates.
"I'll be back soon," He kissed my forehead, leaving just as Christina entered.
She started telling me about Will and the Dauntless-born she's training.
"Uriah is literally impossible to handle. I don't know how Marlene does it," I just laughed.
"On a serious note though, are you okay? Like your ribs aren't hurting too much right?"
"I'll admit they slightly hurt. Could you please grab my pain medicine from the kitchen?"
"Of course!" Christina left and came back with a pill and glass of water.
We continued talking about training and avoided the topic of my recent attack. One thing I liked about her was she knew when to talk about what. I enjoyed her company. She was always ready to converse that there could never be an awkward silence with anyone she talked to.
"Hello? Christina to Tris, do you hear me?"
"What?" I shook my daze off. "Yeah, I was just thinking about how nice you are."
"But not as nice as Four," She winked. I stuffed my face in my pillow groaning as she laughed. She was also great at teasing me about Four.
Once it was dinner time, Christina helped me get up and I went with her to the dining hall. She told Four that she would bring me to the dining hall and we would meet him there. Dinner was pretty uneventful. Once Tobias and I got back to our apartment, we fell asleep, too enervated to say anything.
