I am sorry.
I know that this chapter took a while , I was hoping to release it a week after chapter 2 but then it was deleted.
This site lets you keep documents and stories for 365 days... yes I did write this over a year ago along with most of this fic before the pandemic in better times.
This gave me an opportunity to improve and re-think what I achieved in this chapter and hopefully this is better.

The first 'scene' here has had like 4 rewrites as I have had to change some things that I wanted to set up.

Also and yes this is probably the weirdest excuse given for not writing regularly on this site , but I personally struggle to write sitting down.
The vast majority of my writing has been done on my phone waiting for or using a bus.
I know that's weird maybe I have associated other places in the house with specific tasks , for example in my room I basically only do University work or my actual job.
I haven't had a space to write that I can actually identify as whenever I use one of these 'work' zones it feels distracting.
I don't know I am just as confused as you guys probably are reading this.

Also I would like to clarify some text/writing conventions so you know what noises and internal thoughts are.

THUNK

Rurik was a simple man.

THUNK

A labourer working as he always did for his small city-state of Varia.

They were not a modern state the racists would refer to them as tribal savages , Valean and Mistrali businessmen we're surprisingly polite with crossed fingers behind their back.

But that did not change the current problem.

They were a small population that lacked the means to properly defend itself against more advanced millitary systems.

They sat at the base of a larger series of mountains that dotted the Valean coast.

Apparently according to a Valean prospector who had asked for laborer's the territory they inhabited was rich in all the materials that they could not extract without the generous investment from the kingdom of Vale.

None of this seemed to really affect Rurik such was his solitary and rural lifestyle.

Rurik's family was poor , they had been for the last two generations ever since his own grandfather had gone mad in battle and slaughtered a couple of nobles only being taken down by a hail of arrows.

Ever since that day his family had been disgraced the name Hellsing was spat out by the rich and sung by the downtrodden.

But he never really used it when he returned to town for more supplies.

Rurik shook his head and blinked.

"I need to fuck'n focus"

He tightened his grip on his axe and made to swing.

CRUNCH

On pure animal instinct , he jumped backward like a scared cat as a Beowolf shot past him catching its left leg on the tree he was chopping down , the beast rolled awkwardly into another trunk.

The beast recovered quickly shaking its head with a low growl its tongue running along it's teeth.

Rurik was already running , many would have turned and faced the beast some might have won.

But Rurik was acutely aware of his own lack of capabilities.

He was definitely strong enough to be a warrior that was of no doubt a life of hard labour compounded his large natural stature.

But he wasn't an idiot and knew that he stood a better chance running towards town before more showed up.

Rurik looked to his left and right spotting two more Beowolves charging from each side , panic began to set in.

His mind became less immersed in the present , he conjured up everything that could go wrong from yet more coming out in front of him to tripping on a low branch as he entered a clearing.

His foot promptly snagged on a tree root.

With his momentum ripped away from him he fell hard slamming his chin onto a jagged stone.

The wind was knocked out of him and he scrambled onto his back with an pained grunt , the 3 Beowolves had slowed down stalking up to him.

He backed up pulling himself out into a pleasant clearing that would soon be smeared with his insides.

The leftmost Beowolf dived towards him and on instinct he threw his weight into a roll with his axe scoring a heavy blow on its snout and sending the Beowolf and himself tumbling to the left.

The central Beowolf latched onto his right foot , its powerful jaws shredded the leather of the shoe.

In pain he writhed pulling his foot free as he chopped towards the snout managing to cut into the newly formed bone.

The larger beast lunged towards his throat.

Rurik brought his arm and axe up to block.

The larger Beowolf latched onto his arm teeth shredding his forearm causing him to scream out in agony.

Something changed within him.

Kill

He moved faster than he ever had dropping his axe into his other hand.

He brought his legs up and under the beast slamming them into its shoulders with incredible strength knocking the beast onto its back , he scrambled up and over it snarling at the Beowolf.

He dragged his blade across the throat of the beast feeling incredible satisfaction at its dying whimper.

Unknowingly he licked his lips while looking at the bleeding gore.

Sound returned to the world along with pain and the screaming instinct to dodge.

It was too late.

The others had recovered and simultaneously they sliced towards his back.

Rurik closed his eyes.

And felt nothing.

'... am I dead'

All he could hear were two dying whimpers and the sound of heavy bodies hitting the floor.

He turned and slowly forced opened his eyes.

And saw the love of his life.

The arguing was unpleasant and had remained unpleasant for nearly two years now.

His hearing had grown better over time and the tension within his own parents marriage had easily doubled.

The school that he had learned about was the main argued point.

While initially Alex thought they were making progress and were arguing fairly they soon descended into witty remarks and insults.

'Dad is determined to stop me from becoming a huntsman. He doesn't seem to be listening to me when I say I don't want to be one though'

'Does he not trust me? Am I still viewed as an influenceable child despite my test scores'

There had to be something else a traumatic memory some famous last words that defined his choice.

After all the logic of.

'He will be influenced and will be sent to the slaughter' doesn't really hold up that well.

'What the hell influenced you dad'

"YOU DUMB FUCK" his mother screeched as though his father was harming him directly.

Alex sighed looked down towards the wonderful black shape laying on his chest.

"... yeah I bet your hearings even better than mine"

After a few more minutes of trying to sleep Alex gave up.

He gently picked his puppy Toby up getting a friendly lick on the nose and climbed out of bed.

He slipped on a pair of trainers not bothering to re-tie the laces and moved up onto his dresser near his window using the drawer handles as hand holds.

He moved up opening the window and feeling the cool summer breeze wash over his face and ears.

He could still hear them.

Carefully he moved out the window always keeping 3 points of contact as he clambered down.

He sat down on the cool and rough roof tiles taking deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth.

He moved further down the roof eyeing the edge and the ground below.

'I could go for a walk give them some time and get some exercise'

Alex shifted around so that he was leaning towards the house hanging his legs off of the edge of the roof.

He slowly shifted his body down taking his weight on his arms lowering himself down and dropping the remaining 4 ft into a crouch.

'okay they probably didn't hear that'

Alex looked around his natural night vision was not sorely needed as the shattered moon was out in full.

The moon had always puzzled him , he was no astrologist but something about the shattered celestial mass didn't feel right.

'What the hell shattered it'

Now that was an interesting question to ask his teachers come Monday.

Alex wandered through the garden hands in his pockets heading to the hedgerow that surrounded their home.

SNAP

His eyes darted to the edge of the forest where the noise had come from.

Nothing

Alex began to walk backwards keeping an eye on the spot where he heard the snap.

After about five or so steps he could see two glowing red dots nestled in the trees that appeared to be looking away from him towards the front door.

A pain formed in his forehead as his fear began to grow.

Another snap somewhere to the left of the first where another set of eyes emerged from the bushes.

'Keep calm you know what this is'

He had a couple of options.

1) scream "GRIMM" at the top of his lungs and hope his parents were completely ready to deal with them.

Assuming he was heard above their own arguing there was a chance that they could burst out the kitchen door and deal with the Grimm before he was mauled to death.
'Unlikely they would either have to dive out of a window or come out the front door the latter would take at least 8 seconds and in that time I am sure that I would be Grimm chow'

2) Try and backup and hope that they haven't noticed me go back into my room and tell my parents there are Grimm from the inside of the house

The second option had a few benefits yet it was both more and less of a gamble.
If it spotted him mid climb he would have less time to alert his parents and would probably get mauled before letting a word out.
But it avoided the gamble of hoping that his parents will be quick enough to react.

He dropped into a crouch and began to back up trying to keep his breathing quiet and under control looking to his left where the second snap occurred he froze.

There it was, he had been told about Beowolves , he had been show caricatures of this kind of monster (in especially childish cartoons) but they never got the image exactly right.

The blood red markings on the mask shone out to him as the pain forming in his forehead grew dramatically.

He saw dozens of them at the same time from different perspectives the sounds of combat , the edges of weapons used to slay the beasts.

The more he saw the faster the visions grew he could feel thoughts rushing to the front of his mind that were not relevant to his current situation.

Then the noises from these thoughts came , grunts , screams ,growls and cries.

He felt his back touch the pillar holding up their porch.

SCREAM

He placed his hands on the pillar.

DON'T TURN

He turned towards the pillar and began to climb the pain in his forehead grew to unbearable levels making him want scream out , to cover his eyes and never open them again.

THEY ARE COMING FOR YOU

He climbed faster his breathing picking up as he lost his composure he heard one of the beasts call out and began to run in his direction.

His nose was bleeding any bright light made him seethe in pain.

He climbed up and into his window hearing a huge thud as the paws of the Beowolf did the same its jaws snapping to where he had once been.

He looked back as he passed his leg over the window ledge and saw the mask of the beast the blood-red carvings staining his vision and his mind.

He flinched backwards breaking the glass and catching his left hand on it causing him to scream the beast lunged forward and shattered the rest of the window its face pointed directly at him.

YOU WILL DIE

He saw those eyes.

GRIMM

Thousands of images went through his vision dozens of beasts with similar markings claimed his sight the pain in his head was too much.

"Of course I want him to do as well as he can , do you really think that I want literally anything else?"

"With the way you are acting he fucking won't and you know that. We both know that neither of us have the time to homeschool him nor do we have the ability to pay for a private tutor"

Brun couldn't keep this up but he wasn't going to let his son be indoctrinated and massacred like the rest.

Huntsmen called him a coward for not wanting his son to go through the same career path.

Brun was not a coward his priorities were different.

He always thought that individuals mentally kept a list of things that they would be willing to die for he shared a few , he would die for his wife , he would die for his child's safety.

But that was it.

He would not die for his country , his replaceable and irreplaceable possessions , his land , his faunus brethren or even for the oath he swore to his father when he completed his training.

His father (and the vast majority of huntsmen) had a different view.

They believed in the value of community more and accepted their role of sacrifice.

His Father was fanatical about his place in the world the concept of sacrifice for a "Greater" undefined good was enough for him to justify any act.

He died at age 46 bleeding to death clearing Grimm from an already abandoned village.

To Brun life is infinitely more valuable than dignity or duty , and yet so many die or lose everything for those artificial concepts.

So why after watching his father bleed and regret this life choice would he do the same?

So why would he let his child be thrown into the meatgrinder that was being a faunus huntsman?

But how can he explain this? Saya did not see the regret in his fathers eyes , she hasn't seen what professional huntsmen voluntarily place themselves under.

She was a soldier how could she understand.

Her core motivation was involved in some sense of duty to her nation to her people.

Brun placed his face in his hands peeking through them to watch Saya reassemble her DMR , she had done it at least 6 times during their argument seemingly finding comfort in the repeated actions and movements.

'Or maybe she's trying to occupy her hands so she doesn't end up strangling me'

"Why are you so adamant about this Brun? do you ever consider that he might want to become a huntsman just to stop this argument"

Brun released his hands.

"what?"

"Look we are putting a lot of pressure on him , children especially mature children tend to take responsibility onto themselves for their parents actions"
Saya paused and looked up at him as she loaded her weapon.

"Eventually he will choose for us maybe we should accept HIS decision about HIS future"

"He is 7"

"We both know he is more mature than that"

"Saya he is 7... we are not letting him pick his path yet he needs to grow to learn and..."

"What?"

"Stay with us a little while longer"

Saya raised an eyebrow

"The school is literally closer than his current one"

"They will change him Saya , you can't lie to me and say that you haven't noticed how Huntsmen act.
How they hold themselves in public the faces and smiles they put on , he will become like them."

"He will become like me , I refuse to let him see what I have seen to know loss like I have"

"That's war Brun"

"It is and our child does not have to be on the front lines"

"Brun that's ridicu-"

THUD

Brun's head picked up ears twitching.

"Hey pay attention!"

"Wait a minute" Brun lifted his hand up and pointed to his ears focusing his hearing.

"Do you hear that?"

Their child screeched as glass shattered.

Both leapt into action Brun used the coffee table as a step up to jump over the couch he pulsed his aura into his right hand A dark brown sigil appearing in the shape of the head of a bear.

Saya grabbed her rifle and rolled over the back of the couch pulling back the charging handle as she followed after Brun.

A distant THWUMP of air and within two seconds Brun's family blade was in his hands just as he reached his sons room.

The door was bashed open viciously , Alex was on the ground blood leaking from his left hand , he was crying screaming and desperately covering his eyes from the Grimm that now was halfway stuck in his window.

The beast snapped towards him slicing itself open on the jagged glass its teeth chomping down towards his son.

"NO!"

Brun shoved his shoulder under the beasts neck earning himself a scratch from its claws that shredded his jeans he pushed the beast upwards trying to force it away from his son.

The Beowolf snarled and bit down towards him missing Bruns arm and latching onto his shoulder.

Brun pushed the beast back keeping its head locked to his shoulder with his right arm on top of its neck and with his left he punched into its side using the head of his axe like a knuckle duster cutting deep gouges.

A smaller one caught up and would have managed to get through the window without slicing itself open. But it found its eye socket impaled by Saya's bayonet a medium caliber round soon followed spilling what would have been brain matter onto its back.

Brun's wolf began to dissolve in his arms and adrenaline surged through him as he scanned the tree line , the pain in his shoulder fading with a quick application of aura There were dozens of them big , small , Alpha , two Ursai and a couple Chimera Grimm.

He looked behind him seeing his wife kneel down to his child attempting to comfort him.

"Saya..."

Saya looked up with panicked eyes.

"What are there more?"

"Dozens ... stay here protect him I'll thin em out and draw them away"

With that Brun left leaping out the window more sigils appeared on his skin as small plates of armor began to fly towards him from within the house breaking a few windows.

He jumped down finding the bulk of the pack 20 metres in front of him the armour continued to fly onto him plates that for most were needlessly heavy now floated just above his skin.

The armor came to resemble a set of heavy plates of steel that looked as though they were carved from jagged angular granite.

The main chest plate showed an emblem of a bear whose face was scarred by yellow lightning with eyes that glowed brightly.

Brun wasted no time for he had failed. The two things that he sought to protect most in the world the two things that he would die for were in danger.

Another pack emerged from the treeline and he could hear howling from the other side of the house.

Years of experience told him to fall back , to find a choke point or some kind of obstacle that would stop them from coming at him from all angles.

But he wouldn't listen for all the logic in his mind tempered by hard lessons learned one fact remained unchanged.

His child was hurt because of them.

Alex could have died because of them.

Revenge against the culprit wasn't enough he needed to send a message to the world , the Grimm and to himself.

"None of you will touch him so long as I breathe"

With that he charged about 40 Grimm facing one man.

It would be a slaughter.

He would make sure of it.

'What the fuck is happening'

Alex could barely manage to think he had been processing so much that he wasn't sure what was real and what wasn't.

Did he make it up to his room? , did he pass out? , did he like the screeching conscious within his mind warned against end up dying?.

'Is this hell'

More images flashed through his mind accompanied by completely unrelated thoughts random words names of things that he did not understand.

Objects that held certain colours would relate to other coloured objects the patterns , shapes and textures changing constantly.

The migraine began to cease and he realised that he was still screaming from when the visions had started , he began to feel his own body again including the nasty cut into his left hand and a few small cuts from shattered glass.

He forced himself to take a big gulp of air his throat feeling rough and hoarse.

'I... wait the Beowolf' he turned to look towards the window finding his attackers jaws snapping down towards his head the images returned but he was able to picture them more clearly.

Images would stay for longer just long enough for him to begin to understand what they were , all of them related to the Grimm overlaid the creature in front of him.

The jaws snapped two inches in front of his face the beast being shoved upward by someone he recognised.

He fell forward eyes locked onto his blood sodden hand he wanted to cover it , to try and make the pain stop but he was rigid and frozen with fear , pain and delirium.

Saya grabbed his hand cursing as she saw the damage , she reached backwards to a pocket that wasn't there and cursed louder.

Alex gave a few small gasps finally breathing after screaming and being paralyzed for so long. Tears welled up in his eyes as he finally fully processed the pain.

His senses took over his skin tingled, his hairs stood up , his heart beat faster soon drowning out the soothing comforts given by his mother.

She was tearing at his bedsheet pulling one end and holding the other with her teeth making a long thin band of cotton to keep his hand together.

"It's okay , you're fine"

'I am not you know that'

Saya lifted his chin up so he would see her eyes as she rapped a loop of cloth around his hand.

"I need you to be a brave boy" as she pulled the improvised bandage tight Alex howled out in pain the blood didn't stop the bandage was just absorbing it.

Saya began to panic taking Alex's pillow case and stuffing it around his hand.

She lifted his chin up again "Clench your hand as tight as you can"

"Another one" Alex winced with a hoarse voice pointing his good hand over her shoulder.

Saya rolled to her left pushing Alex back with as weak of a kick as she could manage rolling onto her front to face the door she fired assuming that the Beowolf was about to reach them.

The first round zipped over its head as it sprinted up the stairs , the second lodged itself in the bone of its mask , the third went through its left eye.

Another one charged up the stairs and was met by four more rounds its right shoulder giving out letting its body slipping back down the stairs.

Seeing no more Saya slammed the door shut the bolt catching loosely on the door frame.

She dropped her rifle and found Alex under his bed his cut hand stuffed under his dog who licked at a few smaller cuts on his face.

Saya tried again cutting some improvised bandages out of her own shirt.

She kept telling herself to trust her experience and training.

'But it isn't fucking working'

Alex was on the verge of unconsciousness.

"Mom.."

"I know honey I know it hurts"

"T...t" he cut off as his mother tightened the bandage.

The bleeding wasn't very well suppressed but it was a little better."Another"

Saya hadn't heard it the blood pounding in her ears coupled with a terrifying focus on her failure to suppress the bleeding left them defenceless.

A Beowolf latched onto her right arm as she whipped around ripping it above her head her left arm was pinned against the ground.

The Beowolf chewed happily grinding into Saya's aura looking for the delicious flesh and marrow that lay within.

Saya struggled attempting to free her left arm from its paw but it weighed at least 5 times her own mass and she had nothing to grip or push off of.

Her arm was also being pulled towards herself as the Beowolf became impatient releasing her arm and snapping towards her face.

Saya could only block by shoving her one good arm in its mouth the powerful jaws chopping away at her aura.

Saya using her left hand grasped at her shirt trying to catch her knife the sheathe stubbornly refusing to come off.

Saya's aura weakened panic set in fully and she began to scream hoping that Brun would hear her.

Alex roused from his daze his mothers scream ringing in his ears as his head continued to pound the feeling of adrenaline of death began to fuel him.

KILL IT

Alex felt different , the pain was still there the fear was too but something else made him pull his hands away from his eyes.

The same instincts that told him to run , to cower and cry were now telling him to kill.

The logic within him should have protested it should have told him to run to cower and cry.

But the logic was gone somehow he knew this was what had to happen.

The glass had splintered into long thin shards some of which were in reach , he gripped one that was about as long as his forearm in his right hand and slapped it into the arm of the beast.

It bounced off.

HARDER

He did it again getting closer and throwing his shoulder into it to no avail.

HARDER

Alex struck again spinning as he pushed the glass onto its foreleg making a small cut on its leg.

HARDER

Alex placed his bleeding left hand onto the glass and swung again this time slicing into and down the Beowolfs leg the beast howled and its head began to turn.

HARDER HARDER HARDER HARDER HARDER HARDER

Alex thrusted into the back of the leg's hamstring the paw flexed enough for Saya to pull her knife free and slice towards the Beowolfs jaw.

The Beowolf with its crippled leg kicked Alex his 20kg(50plb) body slammed into the back edge of his bedframe.

Alex lunged for the rear leg of the Beowolf as it dragged Saya up and away trying to dislodge her from his jaw without letting go. The Beowolf found its back right leg hamstrung by Alex earning him another kick this one knocking him out of the doorway and into the adjoining hallway.

The kick had sent the glass shard in his hand back towards his face cutting a line from the top of his brow to the middle of his cheek , but pain no longer limited Alex he was back up again his hand still bled profusely and the floor had become damp with his and the Beowolf's blood.

UP THROAT

Alex obeyed climbing onto his bed and making a running leap onto the back of the Beowolf stabbing into its side and trying to rip its fur free with his other hand.
The first thrust punctured the monsters side the blade was shoved deep and pushed downwards slicing between its ribs.

"DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE"

Alex kept screaming and stabbing as the beast thrashed about it tried to buck him forwards but its right legs collapsed beneath its weight making it roll over onto its side.

Saya had her knife stuck into the bottom of its left paw trying to keep the beast from clawing her anymore struggling against its strength and desperation.
Alex tried to remove his shard from the Beowolfs side but could only pull half of it out the long thin edge remained in the large gash on its side.
EYE

Alex found another shard and thrust it down with both hands into the upward facing eye of the Beowolf taking incredible satisfaction in its sudden stillness.

The monster began to fade and he felt eerily calm and content a deep part of him was satisfied he had saved himself and his mother.

For now at least no more monsters would come.

Saya scrambled over to him as he fell backwards his head hitting his bedpost as his eyes began to drift shut.

Saya pulled the bedsheet off and bundled it clumsily around his hand while putting another end on his forehead.

"Mom"
"I know it hurts , I know "

Alex reached out to her face pushing her head up with his right hand.

"Tourniquet hand , keep warm and drive truck...I love you"

The world went black.

BEEP

.

.

BEEP

Saya breathed in.

'He is safe'

Saya breathed out

It was a very hard thing for her to accept given what she had been through with monsters in her house ripping away at her arm and child barely 5 hours before.

It was even harder for Brun to accept or maybe he didn't want to.

He still had his weapon in his hands despite the hospital very sensible policies on such.

His eyes continued to roam the room focusing on potential entry points for threats.

"We need to talk"

They both knew it was true but neither wanted to start. Why would they choose to be the culprit for the inevitable argument that would follow.

"We can talk lat-"

"No...I can't avoid this any longer I need to know what happened"

"And I need to know why you stayed out there! You must have heard me scream"

"I did hear you, I was a little occupied by 42 of them!"

"Don't you fucking dare joke about this" Saya stood up

"If It wasn't for him we would both be dead , I could never have expected to rely on my son killing a fucking Beowolf"

"He did what?"

"He took a shard of glass and sliced away at it like a little fucking demon , he didn't stop when it kicked him or when it dragged me away from him.
He didn't stop he screamed like a fucking animal"

Brun looked to his son an IV drip going into his arm heavy bandaging around his face and hands.

"How the fuck did this happen? This area wasn't exactly perfect but with the tide being a couple years away how did two packs get through" Brun asked

"Budget cuts have us stretched thin , with that whole mount Glenn disaster staff are being peeled off left and right. But that doesn't explain how they weren't spotted the air force is still patrolling even at night they would have gone after this group."

"What about the tide can it come early?" Brun asked
"It never has and it wouldn't be one pack it would be a thousand we would know weeks ahead of time as unsatisfying an answer as it may be I think that this was pure dumb luck"

"I doubt he feels very lucky"

"I am going to talk to Robert maybe he can divert some patrols to this area for a while maybe the might find a passage that has become unblocked or a cave or something."

Saya's voice was distracted and detached as she looked towards Alex.

"We are both going on a medical course... a proper one"

"For me definitely but for you? didn't you have training in the army? I thought you saw that guys leg blown off and had to deal with that."

"His name was Lapi and this was different I just panicked seeing him dying after I... we early lost him once."

Brun stepped over to her laying his axe against his sons bed and embraced her.

"He saved his own life , he killed that thing , he told me what to do to stop the bleeding and it worked."

Saya wrapped her arms around Brun pulling him in closer.

"I was fucking powerless"

"N..no you weren't" Alex croaked his throat tight and sore from all of his screeching.

Brun and Saya split apart and rushed to each side of his bed Brun tripping on his own axe and landing hard on his knees.

Saya latched onto him first wrapping her arms around his torso and placing her head in the crook of his neck.

"Oh thank god"
Brun looking jealous gripped Alex's left hand a little too tight making Alex quietly wince in pain.

"How do you feel?" Brun asked his grip now relaxing as he remembered that the hand he was gripping was the worse of the two.

"Can I have some water?"

After taking a long drink offered by Saya Alex breathed in.

"Feeling a bit shit at the moment but still not as bad as you two"

"Are you in pain?"

"Yes but the painkillers are doing a great job" Alex tried to closed his left hand and made a thumbs up but stopped halfway through.

They spend a few more moments embraced Brun got a turn to look him over he was feeling a very strange mix of emotions.

Pride at his son at the age of 7 having (technically) killed a Grimm , Guilt for not preventing this from somehow happening , Empathy for his sons injuries and Dread for the conversation he thought would come next.

"So does this mean I can't go outside though?"

"Only when one of us is armed and with you" Alex visibly deflated.

"I don't want to pressure you son but do you know why this Grimm went for you? Were you having a really negative nightmare or something?"

"Oh I went outside for a walk" Alex probably would have lied but in his drug fueled mind he saw no reason to.

"...why?"
Alex with his right 'good' arm pointed to his ears.

"I hear nearly everything that happens in the house. So obviously I couldn't stand the arguing anymore and wanted some fresh air I dropped down into the garden spotted the Grimm , had weird panic stricken migraines and you know the rest."

"Look son I.. we are sorry , I will pick you up a pair of headphones on the way home" Brun said

"No we are going to settle this now Dad , not a later that will never come we are doing this right now."

"Son you are on drugs this is a little complicated"

"Brun just let him"

"Thank you mom , here is how I see it I do not care where I am schooled as long as it is with and near you guys now Dad" Alex sat up a little and looked at him directly.

"After what I just went through I am going to learn how to fight that isn't debatable that is going to happen and you will not stop me"

Brun looked relieved.

"Son of course you are and don't think for a moment that I will stop you in that but going to that school is not how it should happen they will.."
"Influence me yes I know but here is the most important point for you to consider I do not want to be huntsman , it goes against what I want to be I want to learn , to talk and teach I have no desire to have this done to me for a living" he pointed to his own body.

...

...

"Oh shit right no offence to either of you"

"So you just want to learn to fight to avoid this happening again" Brun qualified

"Yeah that's it" Alex shrugged

"Ok"

"Cool"

"What the fu...hell do you mean ok we have been arguing about this for two years" Saya gripped the pillow like she was trying to tear out its beating heart.

"Alex is going to Arrans school for gifted children as of next year" He clapped Alex on the back a beaming smile on his face.

"Of course this will mean you are going to need a bit of 'catchup' training" The smile deepened but Alex in his drug fuelled state only saw a very happy man.

"Wait where's Toby?"

"Oh...shit"

Rewriting things sucks as you always remember the original as perfect and yet you don't remember any real useful detail.
Next chapter WILL be sooner.
