Harry Potter: Fan fiction
The Potter siblings and the foundations of drama
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or anything to do with it; it is all down to the amazing JK Rowling.
Author's Note: Hiya, the first 12 chapters of this story was written when I was 15, and the rest is written 7 years later. I am editing the chapters before they go live but there may be slight differing's of tone, quality and what I thought was dramatic back then is different now. This story is as cannon as a story of mine is going to get, but will become more AU as it goes along. It is NOT in the same universe as the Healing Touch of Music, but some of the characters in that story may appear in this story. If you have read my stories before you will know that I add characters left, right and centre so if you aren't found of that, this isn't the story for you. I already have the first 2 years complete, and some of the 3rd year, but my laptop keeps deleting chapters so I'm going to upload them to here. The last thing to say is that there are themes of mental health conditions, abuse of all kinds and other mature themes, I never go into too much detail as I struggle with these things myself, and they aren't triggering to right but reader discretion is advised.

Waking up I see that everything is OK
The first time in my life and now it's so great
Slowing down I look around and I am so amazed
I think about the little things that make life great
I wouldn't change a thing about it
This is the best feeling

Chapter 1: An Early Start And Some News
"Guys hurry up, we're going to be late to pick up Teddy!"
After five rounds of 'Coming,' Harry James Potter was finally satisfied and went back into the kitchen. He thought about how much his life has changed in the past 17 years. Harry was now married to the love of his life, Ginny Potter, for 15 years, and it would be their 16th anniversary in September. He had four children; James Sirius and Elizabeth Ann, who were twins, and they just had their 11th birthday. Albus Severus was now 8 years of age and would be having his 9th birthday in August, and his youngest Lily Luna was now 7 years of age.
He pondered this as he poured a cup of tea. James Sirius was a riot, alright. He had very dark unruly brown hair and hazel eyes, and those who knew James Potter the first said he looked more like a carbon copy of him than Harry had been. He had definitely taken after his namesakes and was a chief troublemaker, prankster, and a quidditch fanatic. The thought of his eldest son brought up thoughts of his eldest daughter. Elizabeth, or Lizzy or Liz as she preferred to be called, was intelligent, thoughtful, and considerate. She spoke her mind, could be very loud and 'she could outdo her twin at a screaming match any day,' Harry thought fondly. She was one of the only ones who could keep James properly grounded (the other one being Teddy). One of the two people James would happily hug in public (the other one being Lily) and the main person that could call him, 'Jamie.' She liked quidditch and would watch it if she had to, but she wasn't a fanatic and didn't like to play it. She had also had very dark brown hair, but it stayed straight and had Ginny's deep brown eyes. Albus, his youngest son, couldn't be more different from James, which was mainly why they fought so much. Albus was quiet and loved to read, he liked quidditch but not as much as his older brother and younger sister. He had black hair and bright green almond-shaped eyes that had once belonged to his grandmother. Lily, their youngest child, was incredibly intelligent and often preferred hanging around Albus more than James, but she adored him nonetheless. She was also the other person, apart from Lizzy, who James would happily hug in public. Lily also loved quidditch, as did most of the Potter family. Lily was the carbon copy of her grandmother and her namesake, as she had; Lily Evan's, Harry's and Albus' green and almond-shaped eyes, and her dark red auburn hair.
"Morning.", Harry was suddenly taken away from his thoughts as Ginny walked into the room.
"Morning," Harry muttered in reply, putting and a pile of pancakes on the table. Suddenly a loud bang came from upstairs in the direction of James' room.
"Well, at least we know everyone is up now, or they have a headache, I know I do, thanks to James," Ginny muttered, clearly annoyed.
Just then, a grumpy Lizzy followed by a sheepish James entered the kitchen "Did you have to put a banger behind your pillow last night and end up waking the whole house, Jamie? Seriously?"
"Sorry Lizzy, it wasn't my fault, I swear, I just put it there for safekeeping."
"Who does that, James? It's strange." A new voice came from the doorway belonging to James' younger brother.
"Al, you're strange and who cares seriously, dad wanted us up we are." James defended.
Harry couldn't fault his logic, "You do have a good point, James, but still, it mustn't be the nicest way to wake up." Harry scolded.
"Not like that, though." Albus huffed at the same time.
"Good Morning everyone, thanks for waking me up James, much appreciated." Lily strode into the kitchen.
"No problem Lily, at least she is grateful."
"Moving on, daddy, what are we doing today?" Lizzy asked, moving further in the room.
"Picking up, Teddy, duh, I thought that was obvious." James cut in sarcastically.
"After that, you know?" Lizzy continued.
"Sit down and get your breakfast because we are going to leave in about half an hour," Harry said after checking his watch, "to pick up Teddy. We are also meeting, Uncle Ron, Auntie Hermione, Rose, and Hugo at kings cross. Then we will go to the Ministry of Magic because today is finally the day we get to launch my first big project!" Harry said excitedly.
"Oh, that thing you have been hinting at forever, just tell us already!"
"James, don't talk to me like that. Why are you so grumpy?" Harry admonished lightly.
"Cause he stayed up till 3 in the morning playing that new game he bought", Albus piped up quickly.
"Shut up, Al, can you not stay quiet for once, you know to think before you speak."
"Aw James, why don't you take your own advice?" Albus shot back
"Oh, boys, just stop it." Ginny scolded. "Go on, Harry?" She added.
"Well, after we go to the ministry, we need to do a few more errands, and then we will go to the Burrow for the back from school Dinner." Harry finished, this was now tradition since Teddy started Hogwarts.
While this conversation went on, everybody finished their breakfast and went to get ready. However, James didn't want to pick out his clothes, but Lizzy was trying to persuade him to do just that.
"Fine, I'll pick out your clothes, but I ain't putting them on you for you. That will have to be done by you." Lizzy said finally
"Thanks, Liz, you're a lifesaver," James replied gratefully.
"Come on then, we're going to be late." At this, Lizzy unceremoniously dragged James from the kitchen.
"Hogwarts certainly will not know what has happened once those two get there." Harry laughed lightly.
"I know. Harry, our first two children, are off to Hogwarts, and our surrogate son is going into his last year of Hogwarts. Everything is happening too fast." Ginny replied sadly, moving over to Harry.
"I know Gin, but it isn't all over. James and Lizzy are only just going, and it is another two years before Al goes and four for Lily. Let's just live in the moment, ok?" Harry whispered, putting his arms around his wife.

Meanwhile, upstairs, Elizabeth was helping James pick out what to wear for the day.
"Right, Jamie, What about this?" She pulled about a pair of black jeans and a blue checked shirt.
"Yeah, ok. Thank you, Liz. Erm, can I ask you a question?"
"Yeah, of course. Fire away."
"Are you really looking forward to Hogwarts? Are you not a bit scared or worried?" This was very out of character for James, who was usually very self-assured and confident of himself.
"Of course, I am scared, Jamie. This is the first time we will be away from our parents and family, but there will Freddie, Lucy, Dominique, Victorie and Teddy and we will make friends there too. Don't worry about it. "
"You won't leave me? Even if we aren't in the same house?"
"No, Jamie, of course, I wouldn't!" Lizzy now understood why James wanted her to pick out his clothes.
"Don't you need to get dressed anyway?" James sounded really down when he said this.
"Yeah I do, I'll see you in a minute. Honestly, don't worry Jamie, you are not alone." Elizabeth then ironically left James alone with his thoughts so he could get ready.

20 minutes later, all 6 Potters were stood by the fire, ready to floo into King Cross Station. Harry went first with Albus, and then Ginny went with Lily leaving James and Elizabeth to go last.
"You ready? Next time we go to platform 9 and 3/4, it will be our time to go." Lizzy said excitedly.
"I know it's weird. Let's go." James replied, handing her the floo powder.
"PLATFORM 9 AND ¾!"
When all the family was safely on the platform, they had a few minutes to wait for the train. While they waited, they met up with Uncle Ron, Auntie Hermione, Rose, and Hugo. They saw Uncle Percy, Auntie Audrey, and Molly (who was going into Hogwarts the year after James and Elizabeth). Uncle Bill, Auntie Fleur, Louis, and Jake (who were twins and would be going to Hogwarts the year after James and Elizabeth) also said hello. After a round of hugs and kisses, the talk turned to James, Elizabeth, and Freddie (who was the eldest child of George and Angelina), who was starting his first year at Hogwarts with James and Elizabeth. After a 10 minute wait, the train finally pulled into the station. And soon, the familiar site of two blonds, a chestnut Brown and the Weasley red came into sight.
"Hey Guys, Did you have a good year? How was it?" Harry asked in the middle of hugging Teddy.
"Yeah, it's been terrific, way better than anyone said it would be." Lucy, who is Uncle Percy's Eldest daughter, replied.
"Well, sorry but we have to go, we will see you all later." Uncle Percy said suddenly. He was always slightly distant to the family because of a reason unbeknown to any of the kids.
"Yeah, we best get going too, or we will be late for the Ministry," Harry responded, watching Percy go. "I wish he would forgive himself we have." He added sadly.
"I know Harry, he just feels so guilty about it though I wish he didn't," Ron replied.
"Why should Uncle Percy feel guilty?" Elizabeth wondered.
"That's for us to know and for you to find out," Harry smirked.
After a quick goodbye from Uncle Bill and Auntie Fleur and a promise to see them later, Teddy, the rest of the potters, Uncle Ron, Auntie Hermione, Rose, and Hugo, headed off to the ministry.
"Daddy, why can't you just tell us this news?" Lizzy asked her father.
"It's a surprise Lizzy, you will find out in a bit anyway."
"Can you really not tell us, Auntie Ginny?"
"No, Rose, I know it's exciting. We only need to wait another ten minutes now." While Harry and Ginny were talking to the kids, Ron and Hermione walked forward.
"Hey, Hermione? I am not going to be able to make it to the meal later, I have to go to work, and I won't be home till late."
"Ron, you're off today, and you always put work before the family. Just come this once? For me? Please?"
"Look, I can't, I have to go in, we don't get money out of thin air you know!"
"I am very well aware of that Ronald, but can you not spare an hour?"
"Fine, I might be able to come to the meal, but I will have to go to the office when we get home."
Hermione was hurt, but the rest caught up with them, and the conversation was dropped.
"So, what's the plan for today, Harry?"
"Well Hermione, we need to go and talk to the minister first, who will take us down into the conference room. There I will explain the plans for my project, and then we will go to the site to make it official. I will have to sign paperwork and contracts and stuff as well as we go along."
Harry explained while they walked down to the minister's office. There was a plaque on the door leading to the office, said 'Kingsley Shacklebolt – Minister of Magic.
After seeing this, Ron knocked on the door and went through into the room. There was a large wooden desk opposite the door, with a black leather chair behind it. To the left of the desk was a black and silver filing cabinet. On the left wall, there was another door leading into Kingsley's private toilet and kitchen. On the desk were a few pictures of wife and children, who had all left Hogwarts by now. Sat behind the desk was none other than Kingsley Shacklebolt himself.
"Hello Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Kids," Kingsley said, nodding to each member of the party before nodding to 'the kids' collectively.
"Hello Kinsley, I was told we needed to come here first, and then you would lead us down to the conference room?" Harry replied
"Yes, Harry, you are correct. Is everyone ready then?" After a round of nodding, Kingsley led the group out of his office and down to the conference room. Finally, be some light would shed on this project, that Harry had been hinting at for the past two years.
Finally, the group came to a large conference hall that was already packed with people. They had some security to make sure they got to the front of the stage safely. Once they were there, Harry and Kingsley went on the podium.
"Hello everyone, I know everyone is wondering what the big announcement is, so without further ado, everyone welcome, Harry Potter!" Yelled to the audience after whispering sonorous to amply his voice.
"Hello, as I am sure you are aware, although we have access to Hogwarts for magical children aged 11 up to 18, there is nothing for the younger children. Because of this, I have come up with a solution; a school for magical children aged 4 up to 11. The name of the school will be called 'The Young Magical Children's Institute of Learning,' 'YMCIL' for short. The subjects will be the same as a muggle primary school, but it will only accept magical children. The staff who will be teaching are Squibs, so they know about magic and understand it and have a good understanding of the muggle primary school syllabus. There will be teachers, (such as the headmistress, the deputy head, the heads of each year group and the healer of the school) who are witches and wizards. So if some accidental magic goes wrong or whatever the circumstance may be where a wand is needed, it can be quickly dealt with. Every child, no matter there upbringing and knowledge of our world, will be invited to attend this school. Most of the children who go to this school will also go to Hogwarts when they reach 11. There will be no houses there, which will hopefully cut down the intense house rivalry at Hogwarts, which contributed to both wars. All of the staff places have been appointed, and the school will officially open on August the 31st. It is not strictly a boarding school, but there will be dormitories for those children who need it. The school's location is in a large isolated area of London, and there will be various trips into the city throughout the school year. All invitations will arrive in the post, either the magical or muggle way tomorrow morning. As this is the first year the school will be open, every magical child from 4 to 10, or those who will turn 10 before or on August the 31st, will get invited to YMCIL. Like Hogwarts, it is not compulsory but vital for every child who receives an invite to attend or at least have a satisfactory alternative. There will be no magic on the syllabus. Nothing will be taught to the children other than the fact they are witches and wizards if they don't already know, and it will be explained in a way they will understand. However, closer to when they leave YMCIL, they will be taught what they need to know of the magical world before attending Hogwarts. Thank you for listening, and I hope this development will positively affect you and your children's lives."
The response to that announcement was deafening. This was clearly something many people had wanted for their children for many, many years. While the crowd was yelling and cheering, Harry and Kingsley swapped places on the podium.
"I have to be honest with you when Mr Potter told me this idea I was a bit hesitant, but after watching him work so hard to get this to work for the past two years, I truly think everyone will be happy with the result. We have tours throughout the day, and you can book onto one at the front of the, we are going to make our way to the new site. If you are going to use the floo network, just shout 'The Young Magical Children's Institute of Learning' or 'YMCIL,' and you will get to the right place. If you are going to apparate, just think of the words clearly and hard so you won't get splinched."
While Kingsley addressed the audience, Harry went to his family, who had mixed views about the announcement.
"Dad, seriously you said that it would affect all of us, how does this affect Liz and me? We won't be here for it anyway."
"I know James, but it will affect your brother, youngest sister, and most of your cousins, so try to show some interest, please." Harry then led the rest of the group to the school.
