I played Johnny Cash before my big performance to help me calm my nerves. Fucking hell did I get the worst jitterbugs ever before my performance but I knew it would be fine. I knew my dancers would do well but would I do well is the question?
I guess I work well under pressure.
Soon, I was on stage and the music began to play. My dancers did their routines around me and soon I took front stage, letting my body flow with the music. I knew my outfit let me shine like a diamond in the rough because that was what I wanted to look like. I decided to go with the Audrey Hepburn look again but this time with rhinestones on my outfit. I took a black one piece suit, threw the rhinestones on it, and decided the simple look was good enough to make a statement. I joined my dancers in unison for a tough routine part where one of them would toss me in the air and another would catch me. I admit: part of me thought I'd fall on my face but luckily I was caught mid-air and was put back down on my two feet so I could continue my solo dance routine to close out the performance.
I was so engrossed in the music that I almost forgot where I was so when I heard applause I was a bit shocked. My dancers then surrounded me so we could give the crowd a bow and then retreat backstage. Tyson had been waiting for me along with the kids and he gave me the biggest hug ever.
"I admit: I was scared when you were tossed in the air but at least you landed safely," he said.
"Thank goodness I'm still in one piece," I said.
"Yup. Oh, before I forget…" Tyson gave me a bouquet of flowers and gave me a kiss. "For you."
"Thank you." I gave him a kiss then gave the kids a big kiss as well. "I'm going to say bye to my dancers and we can head out to eat, okay?"
"Alright. I'm going to tell Don to pull the car out in front."
Don must have never been to a dance before because he wouldn't stop talking about how he was impressed with my dancing skills and asked how long I've been dancing for. When I told him ever since I was twelve, he was shocked.
"You've been dancing that long? What made you want to make dancing a career?"
"When I saw performers like Tina Turner and Josephine Baker, I knew I wanted to dance like them."
"Good influences! Tyson, you have no excuse not to dance well. What's the matter with you?"
Tyson looked upside Don's head as Don drove while shaking his own head in apparent disgust.
"You got some nerve. Can you do what she did? Can you do what the dancers did?"
"Possibly. I can hit the dance floor with no problem. Okay: lovely lady, where would you like to eat?"
"Dennys," I replied.
"Say no more."
Don offered to pay for food so I didn't argue with him once. He told the kids that if they ate all of their food that he'd buy them ice cream for dessert. He sure knew how to remain on their good side for sure.
I must've been really hungry as I decided to eat chocolate cake with ice cream for dessert after eating my own food. It was extremely damn delicious, I'll say that. The kids were happy to eat their ice cream and thankfully they didn't get any all over their faces when they did. With everyone finally full, we left to go home and call it a night.
I legit fell asleep with a smile on my face as I cuddled with my husband.
In accordance with the wrestling storyline Tyson was a part of, his stipulation was that he'd drop the titles to his opponent and they'd take over his spot as the top person in the company. Cliché but wrestling is wrestling. As usual, the kids were glued to the t.v. watching their father wrestle until the match finally ended and the show went off. Tyson being around the house all the time was going to be different and honestly something I wouldn't be used to at first as I know I'd be expecting him to head out for a few days. I had opened the freezer to get some fruit out when I saw a box of Smuckers peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
"Oh, you really meant that, huh?" I said to myself.
I closed the freezer then called for the children to wash their hands and eat. Tyra carried Timmy into the kitchen, sat him in front of his bowl of food, and was going to sit down at the table but I told her she had to wash her hands first.
"Why?" she responded.
This little girl was a smart ass for sure.
"Because I always make you and your brother wash your hands," I replied. "Now your brother washed his hands before t.v. time but you didn't. So we are going to go to the bathroom so I can wash your hands. T.J., I'll be right back."
"Okay, Mommy." T.J. was comfortable in his seat as he waited patiently for me to return.
Tyra didn't hassle me as she got her hands washed (thank goodness) and didn't give me anymore lip as she was too busy eating all of her food.
"Mommy, is Daddy coming home?" T.J. asked me.
"Yup! Tomorrow we are going to pick him up from the airport and we're going to get ice cream," I said.
"What kind?"
"Whatever you want."
"Strawberry," Tyra replied.
"Whatever flavor you guys want is the flavor you'll get but you two have to be good, okay?"
"Yes, Mommy," my children replied.
Tyson took the kids out for ice cream after I picked him up from the airport and even brought home a gallon of ice cream, too. I don't know how the hell we were going to hide it now that the kids saw it. I warned him that we were going to have to ration that ice cream because it's the kid's favorite dessert. Tyson assured me that the kids weren't going to eat all of it in one sitting as he put the ice cream in the freezer and pulled out two peanut butter sandwiches from the freezer and slapped them on the counter.
"Let these bad boys thaw out so we can enjoy them with some soda. What do you want?"
"Diet Coke. You're very happy today…" I squinted my eyes while I sat down at the table. "What's up?"
"Well, after our next pay per view, I'm going to take time off from television. It's in a month and I can't wait for my extended vacation!"
"Let's eat the sandwiches in bed before we go to sleep," I suggested.
"Yes! That sounds like a great idea. Thankfully I won't need any surgery but if I keep wrestling I will. Oh, I can't wait for my time off to get here already!"
That man was so happy that he took the kids out to the backyard to chase them around, fed them more ice cream, and kept running around and around with them until they all got tired. I made sure the kids took a bath, got them ready for bed, and read a few books to them with Tyson before they finally fell fast asleep.
Me and Tyson showered together, got dressed for bed, and then consumed a Smuckers peanut butter and yellow sandwich with soda just like we used to consume snacks in bed as kids before going to sleep.
"Delicious," Tyson said. "One more month."
"I still want you to have fun wrestling, though."
"Don't worry, I will. Tomorrow I'm going to meet up with Don at his hotel to discuss future plans and then from there, everything will fall into place and I'll be on my way out the door."
"I love you, you know that?"
"I love you, too. Now snuggle up with me, my cuddle bear!"
"Turn off your damn light first so I can get some sleep!"
"Sure thing, woman!"
I honestly don't recall seeing Tyson this happy about not wrestling in a long time but the workhouse really needed the time off. I was also counting down the days too in which he could finally relax, heal himself, and slow down to enjoy life to the fullest as that is what was important.
