"Almost ready to go, son?" Hank called from the living room as Connor got dressed in his bedroom. They had been invited to a party that Gavin was throwing for Tina's birthday. Connor was having trouble deciding what to wear, as he didn't have many pieces of clothing besides a few borrowed shirts from Hank and his Cyberlife uniform.

"Uhm.. I don't know." The deviant called back, looking through his closet as Hank knocked on his door. "You can come in."

Hank entered the android's room. "You're not wearing your uniform to the party, are you? Not very casual looking." He commented, standing beside Connor to look in his almost-empty closet. "Damn. We gotta take you clothes shopping. Follow me; for now you can borrow some of my older clothes." He motioned for the deviant to follow him to his bedroom to look for clothes. They entered Hank's room and Connor sat on Hank's bed as the senior detective rummaged through his closet. "I'm sure I have some stuff from when I was a teenager.." He mumbled. "Ah, here. This should work." He pulled out a pair of dark blue jeans and a black button up long sleeve shirt. Connor stood up, grabbing the clothes from Hank. "Thank you, Hank." He nodded and went to his room to change.

Hank sat in the living room, petting Sumo while he waited for Connor to be dressed. After a few minutes, Hank stood up as he heard Connor coming down the hall. "Let's see how it looks." He looked at Connor and smiled. "You look great, son."

The deviant smiled back. "Thanks."

"Let's get going."

They made it to Gavin's apartment building and headed upstairs to the correct room. Hank knocked on the door and Gavin answered it. "Hey, Anderson. Tin Can. Come on in." He opened the door wider to let them in. Hank walked past detective Reed, and Connor started to follow when Gavin stopped him. "Woah, that a new outfit?" He looked at Connor's new clothes, looking slightly amused. Connor nodded sheepishly. "Y-Yes, Hank lent me his old clothes."

Gavin smirked. "Must be very old, that dinosaur.. but anyway, come on in, have a drink or somethin'." He put a hand on the deviant's shoulder and led him inside, closing the door behind them. They passed by Hank, who was talking with Tina and a few other coworkers. "Connor! I'm so glad you made it, you look great!" Tina exclaimed, hugging Connor tightly. The deviant smiled and hugged her back. "Thanks, Tina. Happy birthday."

Tina let go and smiled at him. "Enjoy yourself, okay? Have a drink and relax!" She told him before joining Hank once again. Gavin led Connor over to the bar. "You heard her. Let's get a drink." He got himself a glass of whiskey and poured a glass of thirium mixed with vodka for Connor. He handed the android his glass and they sat on the couch. "So, plastic, is this your first birthday party?" Gavin asked, taking a sip of his drink.

Connor nodded. "I-I'm a little unsure of what humans are supposed to do at a gathering like this." He answered honestly.

"Oh, that's easy. You drink, talk with friends, scream karaoke songs, stuff like that." Reed motioned towards Hank and Tina laughing and talking with a few other coworkers. "See? Drinking and talking." He then pointed at the karaoke machine in the corner. "And karaoke." He smirked at the deviant. "You sing, Connor?"

Connor looked at Gavin. "Oh, n-no." He shook his head as Gavin chuckled.

"I don't either. But that didn't stop me from singing Tina's favorite girly songs at her last birthday party." He smiled, remembering how silly he looked, trying his best to sing in a girl's voice. Connor smiled too, trying to picture it. "I didn't think you'd do anything like that, Gavin." He remarked.

"I wouldn't do it sober." Gavin laughed. "But I feel like you're the type to just chill and make conversation with everyone. Keep them entertained that way." He nodded, looking at the groups of people talking. They stopped talking for a few minutes, just listening to the music flowing through the room.

"When's your birthday, Connor?"

Connor wasn't sure how to answer. "Uh, I-I guess I don't have one." He shrugged.

"Well, when were you... built?" Gavin asked.

"I was released in August of 2038.. I don't recall the day."

"Hm." Reed thought. "What's your favorite number?"

"My favorite number?" Connor thought for a moment. "Eight."

"Alright, your birthday is now August 8th, 2038."

Connor smiled, feeling appreciated that he now had his own birthday. "Thank you, Gavin."

The two detectives continued to talk and drink throughout the night, though Connor stopped drinking to sober up by the end of the party. Tina thanked Hank and Connor for coming with a quick hug and a small kiss on the cheek then left. The two partners were about to leave when Gavin stopped Connor. "W-Wait, Connor, I wanted to talk to you." He slurred, still very drunk.

The deviant held Gavin upright and turned to Hank. "I'll be right there, I'm going to help Gavin into bed." Hank nodded. "Night, Gavin. Thanks for the fun night." He then left the apartment.

"Alright, let's get you to your room." Connor announced, helping an intoxicated Gavin to walk through his apartment. Gavin suddenly stopped and put a hand to his stomach. "Oh shit." He exclaimed, and the deviant knew what was coming. He quickly led Reed to the bathroom and helped him kneel down in front of the toilet, rubbing his back as he started throwing up all the alcohol he consumed that night. After he was finished, Connor helped Gavin into his room and into bed. He went to stand back up when he realized that Gavin was holding his hand. The android sat down on the side of his bed, watching the drunk detective.

"Hey, Connor..?" Gavin slurred, still holding Connor's hand.

"Yeah?"

"...You know.. I-I don't hate you.." He mumbled. "I know I treat you like shit... but you're.. you're the only one who listens to me.." He was starting to fall asleep. Connor stroked Gavin's hand with his thumb.

"I care about you, Gavin.." Connor whispered. "Of course I listen." He smiled slightly as Gavin started snoring. "Sweet dreams, Gavin." He quietly stood up and left Gavin's room. The deviant turned off all the lights of the apartment before leaving. He walked downstairs and outside, getting into Hank's car, which was parked in front of the building.

"How's Gavin? Did he throw up all over you?" Hank laughed as he pulled out onto the street and headed for home.

"Almost." Connor smiled and looked down. "He's asleep in bed now."

"Y'know, it's really nice of you to help him out like that." Hank said. "He's lucky to have you."

"Yeah." Connor laughed slightly.

And I'm lucky to have him.
