Chapter 2: Dark Activity

It has been a while since Naruto returned to the Hidden Leaf village. Arcana had invited him to train with the members of Arcrai and he had joined them every now and then. Arcana had to say, his training with Jiraiya really payed off. When the two of them teamed up they had one won most of their sparring matches, if Aqua was with them then it was a guaranteed win.

Arcana, Aqua and Daisuke just got home from a training session the 3 of them had with Naruto. Today, Naruto and Daisuke had pulled a win over Arcana and Aqua.

You and Naruto got lucky today, sneaky bastards…" Arcana muttered.

Daisuke's Fire and Naruto's Wind worked well against Arcana and Aqua, they had used a combined jutsu which destroyed all Arcana's shadow Clones and acted as a smokescreen while Naruto's shadow clones kept Arcana busy and separated him from Aqua. Just what Naruto and Daisuke had wanted. They took Aqua down first with a sneak attack she didn't make it easy with her water clones and jutsu but they managed. After that they rushed Arcana with all their might and were able to overwhelm him.

"Hey a win is a win!" Daisuke said in a smug tone.

"Your battle strategy was great. You guys earned that win." Aqua said with a smile.

"Thank you Aqua, at least you aren't a sore loser… unlike some people." Daisuke said making Arcana huff.

Arcana was about to grab a snack from the fridge when he heard a knock on the door. After a mild complaint he went to answer the door to discover an ANBU who had told him that the Hokage requests his presence immediately.

"Aqua, Daisuke, I'm going to go see the Hokage." Arcana said to his friends before he body flickered outside the Hokage's Office and was noticed by Shizune.

"Arcana-kun, come quickly there is important news!" she urged.

Arcana then stepped into the office and saw a scruffy man with tanned skin, short brown hair and eyes to match wearing a simple farmer's clothes.

"Arcana, this man has brought important news. I want you to hear what he has to say." Tsunade said seriously.

"Hello young man, my name is Karm and I am from a remote village in the Land of Wind." the man now known as Karm explained. Arcana was wondering why would he come here all the way from the land of Wind.

"Karm has come here because he heard that there was a clan in the village looking into, 'dark activity'. He is from a poor village and can't afford to pay any Shinobi…" Tsunade said but Karm interrupted her, "Please! You must help us! The dark mist has caused nothing but misfortune in our village!" Karm pleaded while lowering his head into a bowing position towards Arcana.

"What Dark mist?" Arcana asked intrigued. It was probably nothing but Arcana could feel a bit of hope, perhaps this was a lead.

"One day this black mist appeared out of nowhere and covered our village and ever since then, everyone started feeling drained, as if the mist was draining our strength. We are suffering, we are unable to work, too weak to tend to the fields and some of the villagers have starved to death! We don't have money to afford any Shinobi but we had heard that there is a clan here who is looking into 'dark activity' please help us, you are our last hope!" Karm pleaded.

Arcana was shocked. Word had spread? But how? Was it Jiraiya? Arcana couldn't say for sure how Karm found out about his clan but he would do it, even if it was a longshot he had made up his mind. He was going to the land of Wind.

"I'll help you." Arcana said and Karm had a big smile and got on his knees and bowed, "Thank you! May I please know your name?"

"It's Arcana."

Arigato, Arcana-Dono!" Karm exclaimed happily.

"Are you sure about this Arcana? This isn't an official mission" Tsunade asked.

"Yes I am, Shizuka, Touka and Shin are currently out on a mission for the village anyway. There is no need for payment here."

"Very well then! I will be expecting a full report so treat this as a mission!" Tsunade declared.

"Yes, Hokage-sama!"

Arcana then told Karm to meet him at the gates of the village in half an hour and then he went home to tell Aqua and Daisuke. Arcana had explained what Karm had told him and they agreed to accompany him.

Timeskip...

Arcana, Aqua and Daisuke arrived at the village gates and saw Karm waiting.

"Karm-san, this is my comrades, Aqua and Daisuke." Arcana introduced.

"Thank you all of you for your help!" Karm bowed.

They then departed for the land of Wind.

On the way Karm had told them of how one day the dark mist just appeared out of nowhere and everyone just started to feel weaker. He also explained that he heard a rumor when he went outside of town of a clan looking for 'dark activity' but some Sand shinobi who were laughing about it. Rumor or not it was the one shot of hope their village had. So he packed food supplies and set out for the Leaf village.

Aqua had asked if it wasn't dangerous to travel alone but Karm had said he was too poor to be robbed anyway, he had no money.

After a few days Arcana and the others finally made it to Karm's village. They ran into some bandits, but it was no problem for Arcana and the others. The trek through the desert was not fun. It was so hot and when sandstorms occurred then Arcana would use his Earth style to create a dome for the group's safety.

The village looked normal from the outside, but Karm had told them it was a trick and upon entering the village they had noticed it. A thick dark mist… it was everywhere, and it was faint but they could feel it draining their strength.

What is going on here?" Aqua asked, the village looked like a ghost town.

I don't know but let me try something, Wind Style: Great Breakthrough!" Arcana used a wind jutsu to clear up some of the mist but it was to no avail. The mist cleared but then it just came back.

"It's not use…" Arcana said disappointed.

Maybe we should try looking for the source? Karm, do you know where the mist is most potent?" Aqua asked.

"Yes, there is a house in the village, the house is abandoned but near the house it is really bad. Anyone who steps inside feels like there is a heavy burden on their soul!" Karm explained.

"Take us there." Arcana said and Karm obliged.

He took them to this house which was on the edge of the village and they could feel it, it was most potent here.

"I'll be waiting here outside, I'm sorry but I can't go in there!" Karm said sadly

"It's fine thanks." Arcana said and him and the rest went into the house.

Inside the house it felt bad. The mist was bad and it was draining them, but the house itself was empty.

"Guys look here!" Daisuke said looking at a mat in the middle in the room.

"What is it?" Arcana said looking at the mat realizing it looked like the mist was coming from there. He then tossed the mat aside and he noticed a wooden patch that looked like it didn't belong with the design of the house.

"Stone Fists!" he activated his Gaia Eyes and turned his fists to stone and smashed it. There was a ladder and what looked like an underground tunnel.

"Well, who wants to go first?" Daisuke asked
