Author's Note: Here is chapter 6! I hope all of my readers enjoy! :)
Steve Rogers was an extremely built man. Every t-shirt he wore was always pressed to his body and to be honest, Natasha was extremely annoyed by it. Every time she saw him her eyes fell on those stupid, well-sculpted abs. She found herself rolling her eyes at her silly thoughts and out of impulse, she pulled out her phone. They were in a conference room at their New York base and Tony was currently giving orders for their next mission. Agent Maria Hill was the only one who was accompanying them on this trip and thankfully sat between Natasha and Steve, successfully blocking the other woman's view.
As Tony was explaining the ins and outs of a building they were supposed to infiltrate, the super soldier felt his phone buzz.
New message from Nat: *yawns*
Steve was a very focused, serious man when it came to his job so Natasha was surprised when he actually responded.
S: Tired?
N: Of hearing him talk, yes.
S: Pay attention.
N: Yes, sir.
Steve couldn't help the smile that involuntarily formed on his face at the word "sir". Natasha either.
Tony, realizing what was so obviously going on, interrupted the moment.
"I'm sorry, are we in high school? Because I'm pretty sure you two are blushing" he announced, giving both Natasha and Steve death glares for disrupting him. Steve quickly put his phone away, slightly embarrassed, but his texting buddy saw this as a challenge.
"What's the matter, Tony? Wishing you were the one blushing instead?"
Agent Hill shook her head and fought back a smile. Steve immediately looked at Natasha.
There was a shared look between the two that no one else would understand and it drove the Captain crazy. Tony smirked.
"Be careful Romanoff or I'll send you to detention."
"Be careful, Stark. I like detention."
Were they flirting? Steve couldn't help but feel offended and would even feel angry if it weren't for Tony exclusively being with Pepper. Natasha wasn't his, not by a long shot, but fuck, he didn't like this. Not one bit.
He cleared his throat, bringing an awkward, yet strong tension into the room and Natasha immediately noticed. Shit.
New message from Nat: You okay there, soldier?
Steve, out of pure pettiness, didn't want to reply. He of course couldn't resist.
S: Yup.
N: Good. Let's focus on the mission.
S: Right.
Natasha looked past Agent Hill's head and caught Steve looking back. Tony continued on with his explanations as the two kept their stare for a few seconds more. Finally, Steve looked away and willed himself to pay attention. Natasha did the same.
A/N: Please review, I need to know what you're all thinking! All comments and constructive criticism are welcome.
