"Alright!" Randy called out after setting the last two plates down on the large kitchen table. "Soups on!"
"I don't want soup!" Blazed whined as he stomped into the kitchen with his siblings.
"Yer gonna love my hamburger soup!" Randy laughed as he took a seat with the four children while Proton finally drug himself off of the couch and stepped into the kitchens dining area.
"That's not soup." Tex giggled as she went straight to eating the tatter tots as did the other children.
"I'm pretty sure it is." Randy argued as Proton took a seat across from him.
"Thank you, Randal." The older squirrel tried to force a smile but the cloud of depression still obviously encompassed him.
"Cheer up Proton. Yer about ta go right ta heaven with that burger." Randy teased the other man hoping to lighten the mood he knew that he had helped sour. "I made it just da way you like... minus the extra cheese, 'cause I don't wanna get inta trouble with yer lady."
Proton took a bite and an actual real smile crossed his lips. "It's wonderful."
"Damn right it is." Randy beamed proudly. "No one makes a better burger than this guy here." Randy set his food down after taking a large bite and pointed at himself with both his thumbs.
"I like McDonalds!" Lizzy added in with a full mouth.
"The burgers at school are really good." Tex chimed in.
"Y'all are meanies!" Randy now fake pouted as he took another large bite of food.
Randy glanced over at Proton and shot him a grin as he was happy to see the older man's mood had seemingly improved. He shot him a wink before taking another bite of burger and directing Blaze to eat the burger on his own plate instead of stealing Randy's tots as the boy had already eaten all of his own.
Proton kept hanging around after dinner and even helped Randy get the kids ready for bed and sat with them as Randy read them a, so called, scary story in the living room tent. The two adult male squirrels kissed the children goodnight before leaving the tent and zipping it up.
"Night!" Randy called getting a goodnight response from all four small children. Randy then turned to Proton as the two made their way back to the main entry area. "I'll be sure ta let Sandy, and Static know ya stopped by either tonight or in da morning. Not sure when they're planning ta make it back home."
"Valerie was hoping everyone would be able to make it to our house tomorrow for dinner, as Aashini is home from college for a few weeks." Proton's mood quickly went back to barely having a pulse as he started talking about his dying wife's request. "You are more than welcome as well, Randal." Proton looked up at him seemed a bit distraught that he had asked for everyone presents, but his.
"Thanks, but no thanks, Proton. I ain't about to crash yer family affair." Randy held up his hands as he shook his head in a negative manonr.
"But you are family, Randal." Proton protested more than a bit exhausted.
"My sorry butt is far from real family ta yer family, but thank ya fer da kind gestor. I hope y'all have a good time together." Randy gave a weakly apologetic smile to Proton as he refused his offer.
"Please!" Proton begged loudly as he took an aggressive step up to Randy and gripped onto his forearm tightly. "I'd really enjoying spending some more time with you."
Randy allowed Proton to grab onto him without a flinch and just looked at the other man that begging for his approval of his offer. He never knew that Proton could look so sadly, so Randy took his free hand and cupped Proton's. "I'd be a 3rd wheel." Randy reminded him.
"I knew I missed you for some time, but until now I forgot just how much I needed you." Proton pushed his face into Randy's and whispered. "I'd do anything to make things right between us, Randy."
Randy just laughed a bit not even realizing he was pulling the other man into his body for an embrace. "Ya first gotta make up yer mind if I'm Randel, or Randy ta ya." Randy hugged his ex-lover tight not even noticing how aroused he had become as he rubbed the side of his cheek against Proton's.
"I just miss you being mine." Proton breathed out heavy rubbed the erection in his pants against Randy's as they continued to tighten their embrace. "I was such a fool... I just..." The older male breathed deep for a minute as he seemed to try to sort his thoughts. "I know... I'm not... I..." He tried to start again before Randy surprisingly pulled him into a deep kiss before shoving him away.
"I'm sorry! I shouldn't have done that!" Randy stated with panic.
"I didn't mind." Proton replied as he tried to kiss the younger man again only to have Randy pull away.
"No!" Randy stated firmly. "I'm sorry I started it, but NO!" Randy looked at Proton with a bit of sorrow but mostly anger. "It was nice seeing ya again. Please give my best ta yer wife... who you love." He reaffirmed causing Proton to sink into himself likely in disappointment.
"Thank you for the meal, Randal." Proton nodded as he made his was to the door and then left.
"Shit!" Randy cursed out loud to himself after the other man had left. Randy stood next to the front door and listened as Proton's car drove away. His chest was heavy and his dick simi erect. "Why am I always so dumb?" He mumbled to himself as he made his way to the couch where he let himself fall with such force his body bounced a few times.
Tears started to escape the sides of Randy's tightly closed eyes. He had tried to clear his mind and focus on sleep but his thoughts kept coming back to him... and just when he thought he had finally moved on. "Why can't I stop loving you?!" He screamed at himself as the flow of tears increased their rate of escape from Randal's tear ducts. Luckily for the male Squirrel in his very early 30's he had calmed down by the time his sister and her husband had come home and was easily able to fake being asleep.
"I need ta get my shit together." He whispered to himself after the home owners had retired to their bedroom.
