All four police men seemed to notice the two adult men holding hands and gave them a confused look. Randy finally let got of Proton's hand then then patted him on the back in a supportive manor only to have Proton grab at his hand again as he looked down at the concrete porch, they now all stood on. Randy sighed lightly and gave him to his once lover's request for physical comfort even if it was the first time they'd ever done so in public.
"We just need to write up a report on the evening, sir." An officer in the back finally spoke up as the others seemed a bit overtaken by surprise.
"I understand." Proton nodded his head while still looking down at his feet and then gripping Randy's hand tighter.
"It's ok." Randy whispered to him as the other man started to breath heavy again as if he were about to lose control of his emotions that were now barely in check. "They are da government, and are here ta help." Randy teased and was happy to get a small chuckle out of Proton in response.
"What was that?" The original office, office Gray, asked not hearing what the two men found so funny. He was obviously irritated.
Proton looked up at the police office in charge and cleared his throat as he seemed to find his center again. "What is it you need to know, officer?" Proton question a bit off put by the man's attitude while posing his last question.
"What's so funny?" Office Gray, who was a red ox asked again.
"You drove all the way over here, after my wife's death, to ask me why I found a moment of humor with my friend to uplift my mood right now? Is that correct?" Proton pressed as he took a step towards the officer.
Randy was in awe. This was the Proton Electro he was in love with... the man he knew well. The man who was larger than life and was above anyone and anything. He was untouchable. He was absolutely breath taking to see in action. Despite the power he was up against he would always come out on top, and to see it again after so much time left Randy extremely turned on... even though giving the current situation he knew he shouldn't be, but damn how could he ever not pine for that man...
"Mr. Electro, I suggest you calm down and take a few steps back." Office Gray warned.
"Or what?" Proton asked as he took another step closer to the badged man. "I called you here because my wife suffering with cancer died, and you're going to harass me and my good friend? What the hell is wrong with you? I suggest you cut the attitude and watch your tone, before I lose my temper and call your boss the mayor and have you fired!" Proton now was yelling.
"That's it!" Officer Gray yelled as the other three officers looked at him with disapproval. "You are under arrest Proton Electro!" The ox pulled out his hand cuffs as Proton started to laugh in disbelief before being turned around and thrown on the concrete porch so the cop could hold his hands behinds his back and cuff his tightly.
"Sandy! Static!" Randy called in the house as he watched Proton be arrested. "Ya can't do this!" Randy walked up to the Ox that pushed him away as he picked Proton up who now had a bloody lip. "He didn't do anything wrong. You were da ass!" Randy now started to scream.
"Arrest him too!" The Ox motioned his head to Randy as he pleaded for them to let Proton go.
"No." One of the men finally spoke up as the others took a step back in agreement with him. "You need to let Mr. Electro go. I'm not going to be a part of this."
"What the hell?" The Ox yelled at the other men in angry. "I thought we were a team?"
"You picked the wrong man to bully." Proton chuckled in a half daze after hitting the ground so hard.
"Let him go!" Another police officer called out.
"LET HIM GO!" Randy demanded as he walked up and pressed his chest into the Ox's. "If ya wanna put someone away put me away, and I'm sure all yer friends will be fine with it! Just let Proton go." He begged as his face stayed stone cold pissed off but a few tears dripped down his face.
"What the hell is going on?" Static yelled as he made his way out the door only to stop in horror seeing his fathers face beat up and him in handcuffs. "What the fuck is this?!"
Sandy followed right behind him and held him back from attacking the police officers. "Static wait!" She pleaded.
"LET HIM GO!" Randy demanded again looked the Ox right in the eyes. "It's yer only chance of saving what little power ya have to a man like dat." He whispered getting the Ox to swish his tail in anxiety.
Officer Gray pulled back and unlocked Proton's handcuffs right before slapping them on Randy. "You're under arrest for interfering with a police investigation. You have the right to remain silent." The police officer continued his warning as Randy hung his head down. He didn't feel shame but sadness he was about to go back to jail where he swore to some many people he wouldn't end up in again, but for once... he knew it was worth it.
"No!" Sandy screamed as Static held her back.
"You'll pay for this, boy." Proton warned the young officer taking Randy into custody.
"We'll be back for you tomorrow Electro." The young Ox snarled before aggressively pushing Randy into patrol car.
The three squirrels watched as the two cop cars pulled away. The ambulance was still waiting as the coroner hadn't show up yet to proclaim Valier dead yet. Proton put an arm around Sandy shoulder as Static hugged her.
"Don't worry. I'll make sure to take care of Randy." Proton kissed the side of Sandy's head before heading to his office and calling up his lawyer.
"Proton, it's good they let you go at least." Ronald J. Lesser, Proton's main lawyer, assured him. "This young man is collateral damage and we can fight it, but unless you really pull some strings, I don't think he's getting off without a plea deal unless the other three cops' rat on the main asshole. And that almost never happens" Ron reaffirmed to his friend of over 30 years.
"I am not letting my boyfriend be charged with a crime for trying to protect me!" Proton screamed over the phone finally not caring about who knew about his feeling for the younger man.
"Oh..." Ron replied a bit overcome with unease. "I didn't realize..." He started only to stop.
"Does it matter?" Proton pushed with angry. "I pay you well for protecting me and those I care about, so don't you think for one minute this man isn't just as important as me to set free! Now get to work, and I want those cops fired!" He continued to scream before hanging up the phone and throwing it across his darkened room.
"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" Proton cried to himself as he rocked naked in his own bed. He lost his wife, the only women he'd ever loved and now the only man he loved was taken away by the police for trying to defend him. He couldn't allow this. He wouldn't allow this! He was going to set Randy free and make sure he wasn't charged. Randy had talked to him many times about how he hated dealing with police but only understood his fear after seeing how they treated him like tainted meat just hours earlier.
Proton now found himself on edge, and ready to make phone calls to the mayor and governor. He wouldn't allow the love of his life to suffer for standing up for him when by all means he had more than good enough reasons not to.
