Ding. Ding. Ding. I groaned and reached over the side of my bed, snatching my phone off the cord.
"Hello?"
"Leon is coming to see you."
"That's a sick fucking joke, Bella."
"I'm not joking, he said he got permission to take the day off school and he's coming to see you."
"Why does he know where we live?"
"He asked me."
"And you told him? What happened to minimal contact!"
"He did save your life, Felix."
"You're insufferable!" I hung up and threw my phone across the room, already broken anyway. Oh my god Leon is coming. I stumbled out of bed and noticed my clothes had been collected and cleaned and put into a basket in the corner of my room, picking up my phone and tossing it on the bed in the process. I put on a pair of black tripp pants and an oversized black and red sweater then practically ran to the bathroom to brush my teeth. "Oh. My. God." I stared at the bald patch on the right side of my head, they had to shave a small spot to put stitches where I had hit my head the day earlier. "A fucking bald spot… Are you serious?" I turned to the side to look at it and sighed. "I'll just have to give myself a mohawk… But I don't have enough time before he gets here. Wait, forget it he already saw it yesterday."
"Saw what yesterday?"
"Fuck!" I turned around and stared at Leon, standing in the bathroom doorway. "How'd you get in?" He didn't answer, instead he just leaned against the frame and smiled.
"I'll wait for you to get done."
I groaned and put on a hat to pull my hair out of my face so I could put eyeliner on my bottom waterline.
"Why do you do that?"
"Because I like it."
"You're not afraid people will look at you weird?"
"What's the point of living life if you're just going to be fucking boring?"
He didn't respond to this question, instead he stepped closer to me and looked down at me, pointing to his own. I held my breath for a minute before grabbing his shoulder and sitting him on the seat of the toilet. My tongue ran over the back of the piercing studs behind my lips as I slowly darkened the bottom of his waterline, when I was done I grabbed my pan of black eyeshadow and put a thin line on his lower lid. "You do that a lot." He told me. "Do what?" I asked. "You play with your piercings a lot, when you're thinking." I paused and shrugged. "I guess I do."
I turned away and went to put the eyeshadow on my own lower lid when he came up behind me, putting his hand on my side. "Do you have piercings anywhere else?" I felt the heat rise to my cheeks. "Yes." "Where?" He turned me around to face him so I was looking at him when I answered his question. "Other than my two lip piercings, vertical labret, bridge and ears I have my nipples done." "Can I see?" I felt my stomach twist into knots and I pushed him away from me. I softly exhaled and walked towards my room in which he followed me. "Pretty empty."
"Yeah, I only came with two suitcases. My things are coming tomorrow." He stared at my phone and picked it up. "Hey!" I reached for it and he held it above my head, I grit my teeth and clenched my fists at my side. "Let me buy you a new one." He slowly reached the phone back down and handed it to me. "Forks doesn't have a Verizon store." I mumbled as I took my phone. "Port Angeles does, I'll drive." "I can't have you buy me a phone, but I wouldn't mind you taking me." He nodded and walked out of my room, I put my sneakers on and shoved my chain wallet and keys into my pocket. When we walked out I locked the door behind me and stopped at my porch, staring at his car. "Are you serious?" In my driveway was parked a 765LT Spider McLaren. It was vinyl wrapped in a matte black, the windows had been tinted so dark you couldn't see through them. "I like to ride in style." He opened the door for me and I got in the car, staring at the black interior. "I thought having tint this dark was illegal." "Nothing's illegal if you can pay the ticket." I rolled my eyes to this comment and buckled my seat belt. "I'll drive slow since you still have that concussion." I pursed my lips together then mumbled under my breath. "I wanted to go fast…" Out of the corner of my eye Leon grinned and once we were on the highway to Port Angeles, he raced the whole way there.
Leon opened the door for me and helped me out even though I didn't need it. I thanked him quietly and walked into the Verizon store. I talked to the clerk for a little bit, asking about if I qualified for an upgrade yet, I didn't. This was going to cost quite a bit, I looked around for a little bit, lingering around the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. It looked nice but it costed over a thousand dollars, I kept looking around and quickly found myself overwhelmed and at the start of a panic attack. "I have to use the restroom real quick." The clerk pointed towards the back and I quickly locked myself behind the bathroom door. I stared into the mirror and splashed cold water on my cheeks and neck, trying to calm down. "No need to panic, just calm down and pick out a phone, this isn't that hard of a task." I took a deep breath and walked out of the bathroom only to find Leon standing outside with a bag in his hand, he must have gotten something for himself. I walked around the store and found a cheap touchscreen. "I think I'll take this." The clerk looked at me with a confused expression and pointed at Leon. "I'm sorry, he just paid for that phone you were looking at in full. Did you not discuss that with him?" I felt my face get hot with anger, I clenched my fists and practically stomped out of the store, the bell above the door rang frantically when the door swung open. "I told you not to buy me a phone!" "It's the least I could do, after all, I broke yours. Don't you at least want to see what I got you?" I closed my eyes and inhaled, counting to three before I exhaled. "Good boy, get in the car so you can open it." When I open my eyes he was already by the door, opening it for me. My face flushed at the praise and I quickly got in the car, he handed me the bag and got in after me. When his car door shut I took the box out of the bag and I just stared at it. "You got me a thousand dollar phone?" I was going to have to pay him back at some point, I couldn't accept this, but I wouldn't let him know that now.
"It's completely paid off, I also paid off your current phone. You just have to pay your phone line every month."
"How did you talk her into putting that on my account?"
"I have a way with people."
I opened the box and slid out the phone, slowly taking the plastic film off the screen and turning it on. He motioned me to look in the bag more and I did, pulling out a black case and a screen protector. I put them on the phone and began syncing the data from one phone to the other. He pulled out only to drive about ten minutes down the street, pulling into a seafood restaurant called Downriggers By The Water. "What're we doing here?"
"Eating, obviously."
I groaned a little bit and got out of the car before he could open the door for me. We walked in and the waitress seated us at a booth, she paid extra attention to Leon and gave me a slightly dirty look as I walked. The chains on my tripp shorts jingled as I walked, catching the attention of a few people eating but I ignored them. When we sat at our booths she handed us each a menu and walked off. I looked at the drink options, knowing I was going to get a water anyways. I stared at the menu and thought of ways to eat the least possible without him getting offended. I'll just get an appetizer a salad and a main dish that way I can eat the salad and a few bites of the appetizer and get the main dish to go and just give it to Bella. When the waitress came back she got our drink orders, we both got waters. To eat I chose to get a salad, crab dip and crab and prawn fettucini, Leon ordered the fried calamari and eight ounce steak. Whenever the waitress came by she paid extra attention to Leon, he didn't give her a single look, in fact he never looked away from me. I twiddled with my thumbs under the table, looking up at him when he spoke to me.
"How are you liking forks?"
"It's okay, I suppose…"
"Do you like the weather here?"
"Not much, we're… Bella and I, I mean. We're from Phoenix, she likes it there, I like it too but I'd rather live somewhere with inbetween weather I guess. I don't really like the cold but I don't like the super hot summers in Phoenix, either."
"If you don't like the cold, why'd you move here?"
"Our mom got remarried."
"You don't like him?"
"Eh, I mean I don't dislike him. It's just that they wanted to travel and Bella and I kind of stopped that from happening so we decided to live with Charlie. I didn't have any friends back in Pheonix so it wasn't a hard decision for me."
Leon was silent as he listened to my answer, his eyes studied my face as if he was trying to memorize what I looked like. His icy stare sent shivers down my spine and caused me to get goosebumps.
"Are you making any friends here?"
"You're the only person who's really talked to me outside of lunch."
Leon kind of frowned and then nodded. "I see.'
The food came out along with bread and Leon thanked the waitress, sending her off almost immediately after she put the food down. I quickly covered my salad with the dressing she'd given me and ate quickly.
"Why are you rushing?"
I paused and tensed up a bit, I was trying to eat the salad and part of the appetizer as fast as I could to get it over with but I didn't want to tell him that.
"Habit, I guess."
"Well, slow down."
"Why?"
"Because we have all day… Did you talk to your mom at all? I know Charlie must have told her what happened."
I took another bite of my salad, chewing as I debated telling the truth or not. How would I come off if I told him I hadn't even texted her yet.
"I haven't… She left me a voicemail saying the movers were dropping my stuff off tomorrow and that I should call her when I'm ready."
"Then I'll be there tomorrow to help."
"Why are you doing all of this for me?"
"You still might have something I want."
I took out my phone from my pocket and took a picture of the food in front of me to distract myself from the possibilities of what he could want. We ate in silence while I started redownloading apps and logging into different social medias. He cleared his throat, causing me to look back up at him. "You know, it's quite rude to be on your phone when you're on a date with somebody." I set my phone back down on the table, my face flushing pink. "I didn't know this was a date." He grabbed my phone from my side of the table and put something in, setting it back down next to me. "There, my phone number is in there. Now that one of us has formally given each other their phone number it's a date, right?" I picked up my phone and turned my back towards him, holding it up in front of me and smiling, he looked confused at first but then followed along, smiling at the camera. I took the picture and then sat back down normally. "Now it's a date. It's not a date unless you take a picture." Leon studied my eyes for a minute before he pulled out his own phone, repeating the process I had done. "I see... "
"You've never been on a date before?" I mused, he didn't take me as the type who had never been out on a date. He was handsome, cocky and arrogant, not to mention rich, he was everything twinks like me sought, and everything girls sought if he was bisexual. "No, I haven't." I used some of the bread to dip into the crab dip, which was actually good and due to the conversation I found myself eating more than I had expected. "You haven't touched your fettucini, does it not look good?" "Uhm, no it looks great, I'm just full." I lied and then deflected him with another question. "Why haven't you been on a date before? I don't suppose it'd be hard for you." The waitress came back and he asked for a box for my food and then waved her off. "I didn't see anybody who caught my eye, people in Forks are awful plain, after all." The waitress came back quickly, handing him my box to which he handed to me. I scooped the fettucini into the box with my fork and closed it. He paid the bill and then lead me back out to the car, opening the door for me before I could get close. When he got back in he immediately started the car and then paused to look at me. "What else do people do, when they go on dates, usually?" I paused for a moment and thought, what did I see couples out in public usually doing? "Well, I mean I guess some people go shopping... Or they go out to see movies." He began to back out and drive back towards Forks. "Tomorrow we'll go shopping, then." I nodded as I didn't think I had much of a choice. Leon turned the radio on to combat the silence, but he put it on low. What did he want from me? My face began to get hot at the thought, he had just bought me lunch and a brand new phone. He wanted me. I slowly crept my hand over the console and rested it on his leg to which he cocked an eyebrow but he continued driving, focusing on the road. Eventually my fingers found a way to his belt buckle and he grabbed my hand and pulled it away. "What're you doing?" I felt my stomach twist into knots, I had been wrong and just embarrassed myself. "I um. I thought… You said you wanted something from me." He laughed and I shrank in my seat, wanting to hide myself in my sweater. "Not that… I mean, maybe that… At some point. But not now." He held my hand over the gear shift, his hand on top of mine. The rest of the ride was silent other than the radio and quiet purr of the engine. When we got back to my house he looked at me and smiled. "I'll see you tomorrow." "Um, yeah, sure." I grabbed the verizon bag and to go box and practically ran into the house and up to my room. I threw myself onto the bed and screamed into my pillow.
