Leon's POV
I woke up to the sun hitting my face, I took in a deep breath and relished in the rare warmth. Maybe it'd be warm enough to actually swim on the beach. After all, this was going to be my first time going to La Push due to the fact that I was the only Cullen able to step foot on the beach but I wouldn't tell Felix this, if he were going to figure out my family were a bunch of vampires he'd have to figure it out himself. I looked down at the teenager sleeping in my arms, a small smile spread across my face. His tan complexion was very similar to the one I used to have before I was turned, he had long eyelashes, almond upturned eyes and his bottom lip was fuller than his top. He had a healed scar over his right eyebrow which I presumed was from a failed eyebrow piercing. I reached down and ran my fingers through his hair, he stirred in his sleep for a moment before he relaxed again. I stared up at the ceiling until I felt him wake up, wiggling in my arms. "Good morning." He looked up at me and his face flushed pink. "You never left?" "I didn't see a reason for me to, we're all going to La Push anyways." He nodded and sat up, stretching his arms out and bending backwards into a stretch.
I watched him get up from the bed and look outside, he placed his hands on the window sill as he did. "Wow, it's actually sunny outside." He went to his closet and put on a black band shirt, I couldn't tell what the writing said so it must have been some type of metal band. "You think I could swim in these?" He held up a pair of black basketball shorts and I nodded, he put them on and sat at his desk. He opened his laptop and turned it on, I got out of bed and put my jeans on before standing behind him. "What're you doing?" "I'm gonna email my mom." I nodded and sat down in the bean bag chair, checking my phone to see missed calls from Carslile. I pressed on the contact and called him back, he answered immediately. "I'm assuming everything went fine last night?" "Yeah, nothing happened." "I wouldn't say nothing happened. Edward told me." Fucking snitch. I didn't say anything since Felix was next to me, I didn't want him knowing Edward watched Bella sleep at night. "I'm assuming your silence is because Felix is near you." "Yes, that's right." "Will you be coming home soon?" "No, we're going down to La Push, he invited me." "La Push? It's not breaking the treaty since you're not technically one of us but if they tell you to leave, don't argue, just go." "I know, I know." Felix turned towards me and gave me a thumbs up, indicating he was done writing his email. "I'm gonna hang up now, I love you, dad." "Don't do anything stupid, Leon. I'm trusting you." I hung up the phone and smiled at Felix. "Everything okay?" "Yeah, just wanted to call to make sure I was okay."
The smell of bacon being taken out of the package hit my nose and my stomach grumbled a bit in response. "Someone's making breakfast, let's go check." I picked my shirt up off the ground and put it on, Felix groaned a little bit but followed anyway. Charlie was the first one to notice me and he cocked an eyebrow. "Good morning, you're here awful early." "He spent the night, actually. I hope that's okay." "Oh, I didn't see your car out there in the driveway." "I parked on the street, I didn't want to take your spot." Charlie nodded and stared at the two of us before turning back to the TV as he spoke. "Bells is making breakfast, you can go in there and tell her how many eggs you want if you're gonna eat with us." I nodded and we headed to the kitchen, sitting at the table. "Good morning." She told Felix without turning around, when she did she saw me and smiled. "And good morning, Leon. Did you want eggs?" "Three, please." When breakfast was done Bella sat everyone's plate in front of them before sitting and serving herself. "So what're you kids up to today?" "We're all gonna go down to La Push." Bella told Charlie, I kept their conversation at the side of my brain while I watched Felix mostly play with his food rather than eat it. "You're gonna eat all of that. Right?" I formed my command in the stance of a question, Felix nodded mindlessly and I smiled. It took him longer than everyone else to eat, obviously frustrated at the fact he had to eat all of it. He got down to a little bit of egg and bacon before I decided it was enough and whispered to him. "That's enough." He let out an angry exhale and dropped his fork onto his plate, giving me the stink eye as he did. I picked up his last piece of bacon and popped it into my mouth, smiling at him after I swallowed.
Pulling up to the Newton's Olympic outfitters I could make out Mike's Suburban and Tyler's Sentra. When we got out Lauren scowled at the sight of Bella but then smiled at the sight of myself, Felix walked behind me as we met up with the group. Mike greeted Bella enthusiastically, he wasn't great at hiding his obvious crush for her. "So right now we're just trying to figure out the seating situation." Mike said to Bella and I spoke up. "I brought my Trofeo so I can fit five in mine." Lauren shot her hand up. "I'll ride with you!" She walked over to me and went to put her hand on my arm, I moved it before she could touch me. "Awesome, if anybody else wants to join they can." When the car situation was figured out I got into my car, Lauren sat in the front seat and I stared at her, bewildered. "Actually, Felix sits up front." I said as she began to push the seatbelt in. "Oh, sorry I didn't realize, are you guys best friends or something." "Something like that." She unbuckled and stepped out of the car, Felix quickly got into the front seat and clipped his belt on, the whole way to La Push Lauren shot daggers at Felix. If looks could kill.
When we got to the beach I opened my trunk and took off my jeans, putting swim trunks over top of my boxers. I pulled out towels and placed them on each seat in the car just in case Felix and I weren't the only ones to swim. I put the jeans in the trunk and shut it, Felix had waited for me while everyone else started walking down. "Best friends?" He mumbled to me as we stood behind my car, I looked down at him and smiled. I saw Lauren behind the group, turned around, staring at us. Felix's back was towards her, I grabbed his waist and pulled him against me. "Did you want everyone to know? I didn't take you as someone who was out." Felix blushed and pushed me away half haphazardly. "Someone will see us." He mumbled as he looked up at me. "I just thought it was funny… We're not together anyways… We just went on a few dates." By the time I looked back up from Felix's green eyes Lauren was already turned around, she had caught up to Jessica and she was whispering in her ear as they walked.
We made our way down to the rest of the group, we all sat around a fire pit and after a while some of the group went off to hike, including Bella. Felix nudged me and pointed towards the water and I nodded. We stood up and took our shirts off, tossing them where we had been sitting. I heard Lauren whisper to Jessica. "Who would've thought Felix had muscles, too. He looks so scrawny with all those heavy clothes he wears." Jessica whispered back. "Yeah but they're gay, right?" "They could be bisexual, all I saw was Leon pull Felix in by the waist." "Felix is definitely gay, look, his nipples are pierced." The two giggled between each other, staring at us as they did. Nobody else could hear them other than me, but I knew the secret wouldn't stay between just them for long. Felix made his way to the water and I followed him, he stopped right before the water and turned to me. "You think it's cold?" He asked. "Probably, just because it's warm out doesn't mean the water is, too." He turned around and then suddenly splashed water in my face. "Why don't you tell me before I get in?" He teased with a grin across his face. "You shouldn't have done that." I growled before picking him up with both of my arms, I walked in until we were about four foot deep into the water, he struggled in my arms and yelled for Bella. "Bella can't help you now, she went on that hike." I tossed him into the water, he went under and then sprang back up. His black hair stuck to his face, and he huffed a bit before getting on his feet and got into a wrestling position. I grinned and folded my arms, staring down at him. "You couldn't move me even if you tried." I mocked him. He grunted and ran at me, he clashed into my stomach and to my surprise, he had moved me. My front side rolled on top of his back and I felt the air escape my throat. He let go and crouched onto his knees so only his head was above the water. When I caught my breathe I did the same, my shoulders and up escaped to the warm air and the rest of my body concealed by the dark blue water.
I felt the rocks of the beach between my toes and the salty air punch me in the face with every inhale, I heard a few hollars from the beach only to see six boys had joined the group. "Let's go back up and see who they are." I mumbled and Felix nodded. We made our way back up out of the water, the closer I got the more I realized it was boys from the reservation. The closer we got to them the more I could make out their features, they were all built and tall. They had broad facial features and tan skin, four had long black hair and two had short black hair with a tattoo on their bicep, I could tell from the smell that those two were wolves. The two squinted their eyes at me and I waved as we got closer, I knew they could tell I smelled different but couldn't quite pinpoint what I was. One of the boys smiled when he saw Felix, running up to us. "Hey, Felix! Is Bella here with you?" "Yeah, she went hiking with the other part of our group but they should be back soon." "Awesome, let me introduce you to my friends! Then you can introduce us to yours." Felix smiled and nodded. "Okay." The two boys continued to eye me as we walked closer, I kept my heartbeat steady and tried to act as normal as possible, I didn't want to leave yet. "This is Embry, Quil and then Silas, my two best friends and Embry's brother" He motioned to the three boys with long hair. "And this is Jared and Sam." He motioned to the two with short hair. I smiled at them and Felix did too, I nudged him and he jumped a bit. "Oh! I'm Felix, Bella's brother and this is Leon… My best friend." "Nice to meet you guys."
Sam nudged Jared and he pointed to my mouth with his eyes. Fuck, they noticed my fangs, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, none of the other Cullens had actual fangs. "Leon, can I take a walk with you?" Sam's question came out more of an order than a question and I nodded. "We'll be back." He mumbled, I followed him down the beach and we stopped when we were out of ear shot. "You're a cullen, aren't you?" I sighed and nodded. "Technically… But I'm not one of them. If that makes sense." He was silent for a minute before he let out a sigh. "I know, your teeth are different from theirs. I need to know what you are before I decide whether you can stay or not." I looked down at my feet, my shoulders slumped a bit in disappointment. "I'm a demon." "What do you eat?" "I eat human food… Sometimes I eat fear. It's hard to explain but that's the most basic of it." "Then why the fangs?" "Some demons choose to eat flesh, I don't exactly know why as we don't have to but there's different types of demons so I'm guessing others are more inclined than me." "Why are you hanging out with humans? I thought the Cullens stuck to themselves." "I'm not a vampire so I don't have to follow their rules." He nodded and looked back at his group, I did as well, Felix was smiling and talking to one of the long haired boys, Silas. I felt jealousy rise up in my stomach when I saw Felix laugh harder than I ever had before in response to something Silas had said. "You can stay but we'll be watching." I nodded at him and we walked back, I stood behind Felix and put my hand on his arm, he looked back up at me and smiled. "Jared and I are going back, you guys can stay." The four boys nodded at Sam and the two wolves left, I knew they'd be watching from a distance.
"So, how old are you guys?" "We're fifteen." Jacob, Quil and Embry said at the same time. "I'm eighteen, what about you guys?" "Seventeen." I replied, damn I was sure he was older, he's huge for his age. "Who's Maserati is that up there?" Silas asked, he must have seen it on the way down. I was about to speak when Felix spoke up. "That's Leon's, he also has a McLaren!" "Woah, really?" All four boys seemed to have perked up at the mention of the Mclaren and I scratched the back of my neck. "Yeah… I have a 765LT Spider" "And you didn't drive it here? If I had one I'd drive it everywhere." Jacob mused. "Well, I didn't want to get the seats wet." Silas nudge Jacob as if I had stated the obvious and Jacob rolled his eyes. Bella walked up to the group and waved as she approached. Lauren walked up, watching Bella. "Hey, why didn't any of the other Cullens come today, Leon? Did nobody invite them?" The four boys looked at me with bewilderment. "I thought the Cullens don't come here." Silas said. I stiffened up, and Felix caught my expression. "What does he mean? Were you not supposed to come with us today?" He looked up at me with a slight frown. "I must not have gotten the memo." Silas stared at me, I looked down at Felix as a way to escape his gaze. "Is that what Sam was talking to you about?" "Yes…" "And he let you stay?" "Yes." It was silent for a moment, Bella and Felix looked at me with confused eyes and I tried to ignore their gaze. Bella broke the silence. "Hey Jacob, wanna take a walk up the beach with me?" "Yeah!" His bewilderment quickly turned to excitement, teenage boys were easy.
Silas pulled out his phone and offered it to Felix. "What's this?" Felix rubbed his arm with his hand out of nervousness and I could feel the anger well up in my chest. "I was hoping to get your phone number or snapchat." "Oh uh, yeah! You can have both, here." Felix put his phone number in and handed it back with a smile. "My snapchat is the same as my phone number so you should be able to find me." Silas nodded. "Cool, I'll definitely add you then. Did you guys want to swim again? We were thinking about going cliff jumping since it's warm." I nudged Felix to let him know it was his decision and he looked up at me and nodded. "Yeah, let me see if Lauren can fit in one of their cars." I walked over to Mike, running my fingers through my hair as I did. "Hey, can Lauren fit in one of your guys' car? We're gonna hang out with the rez kids for a little bit." "Yeah, sure thing. She'll be disappointed though, she really likes you." "I've already disappointed her, I'm sure you'll hear about it on the ride back." Mike looked at me confused but I just shrugged and walked back to Felix, Jacob and Bella were back with the group. "We're all good, Bella are you coming?" "Uhh, no. I think that's a little too scary for me. I'll just get a ride home from Mike." "Alrighty then." "I'll see you when I get home." Felix smiled.
Felix's POV
I stared at the long haired boy in front of me, he had high cheekbones and a very defined but round jawline, a narrow nose bridge, small full lips, brown skin and slanted brown eyes. I had to look up at him to see his face, he was very tall my guess was around six foot five, he was even taller than Leon. Jacob had said his name was Silas, I liked that name it was unique like Quil and Embry's. I watched Leon as he made his way up to Mike, Silas' voice snapped me out of my trance. "Hey, you guys are back. Bella are you coming cliff jumping with us?" Bella raised her eyes at me. "Is Leon going with you?" I nodded and she looked back at Silas. "I'm not but I'm sure he already said yes." I smiled cheekily and she pushed me a bit to which I pushed her back into Jacob, who caught her. "Hey now." Felix interrupted as he made his way back to the group. "We're all good, Bella are you coming with us?" I nodded when she said she'd get a ride home with Mike. "Alrighty, let's go." "Can I sit in your car?" Jacob asked excitedly. "Uhh, yeah, sure. You can direct me… Felix gets front seat, though." "Awesome." Jacob was the first one to the cars, Silas walked behind me and I could feel his eyes burning in the back of me. The drive to the cliff didn't take long, we parked at the top and had to walk down to the second cliff. "We're not jumping off the top?" Silas laughed and shook his head no, as he lead us. "No, not for your first time." "Oh." I mumbled kind of disappointed but that thought quickly eradicated when I looked down. We finally made it to the peak and I looked over the edge again, a shiver sent down my spine. "Alright. Watch how it's done." Embry said, stretching his arms to the side. I watched as he took a running start and then jumped right off, his feet landing in the water first. It took a couple seconds before he resurfaced and let out a hollar. My heart sped up and I grinned wide, the adrenaline already running through my body. Quil went next, doing a flip off the edge. Jacob went third, he did a cannonball on the way down. Silas looked at me and smiled. "Your turn." I nodded and pressed my back against the wall of rock behind me. I stood there for a minute, Leon watched me with pressured eyes as I did. "Do you want me to jump with you?" Silas offered, holding his hand out. "Actually, yeah… This is scarier than I thought." I admitted, color rising to my face. "No big deal! All of us got scared the first time." I looked at Leon and he nodded. "I'll meet you at the bottom." He said to me and I smiled. I took Silas' hand and took a deep breath, he looked at me and grinned with teeth. "We'll jump on three, okay?" I nodded and he began to count. "One…" I inhaled deeply, clenching his hand a bit tighter, he did the same in return. "Two." I exhaled and clenched my eyes shut. "Three." We both ran off at the same time, I felt for his jump and repeated him. I opened my eyes midair, looking over at him, he was already watching me. "Put your feet together!" He yelled and I did what he said, pressing my legs together right before we hit the water. I closed my eyes when we hit, I was under for about five seconds before I felt two hands pull me up. I gasped for air and opened my eyes, kicking my legs as I wiped my hair from my face. "Alright, swim this way so he can jump down." I nodded and followed them over to the side, at first Leon didn't come but after a few seconds I saw him jump, he put his hands out and dove hands first. "Is he crazy? He's diving!" Quil laughed at the sheer boldness of Leon's dive, from the height it would be hard to tell which way was up and down so it was smarter to let your feet hit first. Leon hit the water and it didn't take very long for him to reappear above the surface. "How was that?" He said and the four boys laughed at him. "Have you done this before?" "Never. I just thought it'd be fun." "Let's go again!"
"Did you have fun?" I looked over at Leon, his eyes were focused on the road back to Forks. "Yeah. I did, I've never done anything like that before… I'm glad you came." Leon didn't respond, the silence shook me a little bit, then I remembered back to what Silas had said. "What did Silas mean? About the Cullens not coming here." "I'm not supposed to talk about it." I pursed my lips together and looked out the window. "Oh.." "Do you like stories, Felix?" "Yeah. Usually." "The Quileute tribe is said to be descended from wolves… And there's these things called the cold ones, they're usually enemies of the tribe… Long ago a certain pack of them came across the tribe and claimed they didn't feed on humans so they made a treaty, that they would stay off their land." "What does that have to do with the Cullens?" I asked "It's said that the Cullens are descendants of the pack that was apart of the treaty. So none of us are supposed to go on the land." I could tell something about his story wasn't true, or not the whole truth. "So, you broke the treaty?" "I'm not sure, I'm adopted, remember?" I nodded, a bit confused. The rest of the Cullen kids were adopted as well, so shouldn't they be able to go, too? What was he not telling me? The car stopped in front of my house, I looked up at the porch light and sighed. "Will I see you tomorrow?" "I don't think so, it's supposed to be sunny out for the next two days." "What does that have to do with anything?" "Carslile pulls us out of school to go on camping trips." "Oh. Okay. Well, text me if you have service." "I will."
I got out of the car and walked through the front door, and there Charlie was, standing there with his arms crossed. Shit. "Cliff jumping?" "Errr… Yeah." "Bella told me you were with the rez boys so I called Billy for him to tell me that they were out cliff jumping. Are you out of your god damned mi-" "I'm fine, though." "Excuse me?" "I'm alright… I went cliff jumping and I wasn't hurt. None of us were." Charlie was quiet before he waved me off. "Just go to your room… Actually take a shower first, you smell like the ocean." I ended up rushing through my shower and locking my bedroom door behind me. I sat at my computer and opened up my laptop, checking my email and then my social media. "Lauren? Jessica?" I stared at the two names in my facebook friend requests, debating on whether to accept or not. After a few minutes I decided to accept, declining them would probably cause drama. I pulled out my phone to see if Silas added me on snapchat and to my surprise, he did and he had texted me letting me know his number. I saved it to my phone as "Wolf boy" with wolf emojis, I thought it was funny. I sent him a snapchat of my face and labeled it as "Had fun today, thanks for inviting me." My laptop dinged and I looked up, reading the notification aloud. "Lauren tagged you and fourteen others in a post." I clicked on it and read the caption. "La Push trip." I clicked through the photos, they were mostly just pictures of the view, selfies with her and her friends, pictures of the boys around the campfire. My heart stopped when I got to the middle, there was a picture of me and Leon behind his car and it looked like we were kissing. I quickly clicked through the rest, she had also taken pictures of me and Leon playing in the water, all the pictures of Leon and I were clustered in the middle of the photos, there were more after us that were of the rest of the group. My hands shook and I quickly called Leon. He picked up the phone after the third ring. "Do you have Lauren on facebook?" "Yeah, I'm pretty sure she adds everyone in our grade, why?" "Check her posts, now." "Okay, okay, hold on I'm putting you on speaker." He paused for a second before sighing. "Okay, what about it? It's just a bunch of pictures of the beach and shit." "Keep scrolling." The line was silent for a minute before he finally spoke again. "Okay that's not great. But listen, nobody actually looks through pictures on Facebook." "She tagged fourteen people, people are gonna look through it if they're tagged!" "Calm down, it'll be okay. I'll just tell people it's a weird angle or something. Don't worry about it. Get some sleep, it'll be fine." "Fine…"
Leon hung up and I slapped my laptop shut. Ding. Ding. Ding. I looked down at my phone, my facebook notifications coming through there. People were commenting, and they were commenting about the picture. I began to read them, most of them were just people tagging their friends, some names I recognized, others I didn't. After about fifteen minutes it had over fifty comments, ranging from people asking if Leon was gay and others saying Leon could've done better, girl or guy. Some people had messaged me and I didn't respond, resulting in them tagging me in the comments over and over. I looked at my snapchat which was safe since nobody from school had it, Silas had messaged me back with just "You're welcome." I responded with a plain black screen and three seconds later he texted me.
Silas: You okay?
Felix: I'm not so sure.
Silas: What happened?
Felix: Picture Lauren posted
Silas: Oh wow, you guys are dating?
Felix: No… No we aren't.
Silas: Oh. So I'm guessing this wasn't meant to be taken.
Felix: No, it wasn't.
Silas: Do you want to skip tomorrow?
Felix: Yeah.
Silas: I'll pick you up tomorrow, then.
Felix: You'd do that for me?
Silas: Of course. Get some sleep.
Felix: Thanks.
I set my phone down on the night stand next to me but the phone kept dinging to the point I had to put it on silent. Most of the night I tossed and turned, the last time I checked the time it was five in the morning.
