Note: I personally feel like Stephanie Meyer did the Quileute tribe dirty in the book so I will be creating a ceremony, some of the things they do in the ceremony will be based off of actual Quileute traditions for when they shift to werewolves for the first time. I will be basing the ceremony after The Tlokwali, which is the wolf ritual, you can read about this in the last link. Traditionally the ceremony would last several days so I will be shortening it into one night. If you would like to learn more about Quileute traditions and history here are some links.

Felix's POV

My alarm clock woke me up that morning, I decided to wear normal doc martin boots, red skinny jeans and a band t-shirt. I didn't go downstairs until it was time to leave for school and I was completely silent in the truck until we got to the school, where I saw Silus waiting outside. "Is that Silus?" "Please don't snitch, Bella." I hopped out of the truck and ran over to Silus, Bella yelled after me and I ignored her. Mike was waiting outside his car for Bella and watched me run to Silus' truck, when he realized Bella was yelling for me he yelled for me to. "Hey! Felix!" I ignored him but he caught up to me and grabbed my hand and pulled me back. When Silus saw this he immediately ran over, pushing Mike away from him. "Don't touch him." Mike put his hands up. "Hey, sorry. I was just gonna say I didn't care about the picture… Whether you're gay or not." "Mike, thank you. But I'm not ready to face this right now." He nodded and me and Silus hopped in his car and drove off, a crowd was watching as we did. I stared at the floorboard of his truck, it was an old 2000 Ford F-150 Silus attempted to break the silence. "Downside of a small town, huh?" "Sorry?" "Everybody knows everything, right?" "Oh… Yeah… Yeah, this wouldn't have been as bad in Pheonix." "I'm sorry. That must've sucked… When did that get posted?" "This girl named Lauren added me on facebook, her friend Jessica did too. It was right after I had gotten home, I just thought it was because I went with their group or whatever. I didn't want to accept it but I thought if I didn't it'd cause drama because Lauren is the kind of girl that talks about people so I accepted it. Not even five minutes after she posted that picture in between pictures of other people at the beach and stuff like that. I don't know why she even took the picture, but her posting it had to be on purpose." "Wow… She sounds like a bitch." I nodded and sighed a bit, thinking of something to say. "What are we going to go do?" "We'll go back to the rez, I guess. Unless you had something in mind?" "No, let's do that."

We pulled up to a long trailer and he parked out front. "This is my family's house, we can hang out in my room." "Sounds good." We walked into the house, nobody was home at the moment. Silas lead me down the hall and into the back room, closing the door behind him. His room was pretty standard, his bed had a hand-sewn quilt on top with a dream catcher nailed to the wall. He had a desk with a computer and a dresser that had a tv and xbox on top of it and art hung on the walls, and a tapestry covered the window. "Nice tapestry." "It's actually just a blanket, but thanks." "Well, it has a nice design. I like the wolf." "You can have the chair." He pulled out the chair from his desk and hopped onto his bed. I sat on the chair and looked around. "Did you make that?" I pointed to the dreamcatcher and he shook his head no. "No, my grandma did but I know how to make them now. Do you want one?" "Yeah, that'd be great. I've been having some weird dreams lately anyways." "Okay, you can either watch me or just chill out." He stood up and leaned over me, opening a drawer at his desk and taking out supplies to make the dreamcatcher. "I'm out of willow." "Willow?" "Yeah, it's the kind of wood we use." "Oh, that's okay then. You can always make it later." "Okay, yeah. I'll look for some today. We just can't really be outside, I don't want my parents to know I snuck you out of school." "That makes sense… Well, what do you do in your free time, here?" "I usually play my x-box… But recently my friend gave me his old 3DS." "Oh thats cool. Do you have a switch?" "No, I'm not big into nintendo but I kind of want one now that I've got this." He took the console out from underneath his pillow and handed it to me. I opened it up and turned it on, he reached over me again and grabbed a bag with games in it out of his desk. "Here's all the games I have." I took the bag and opened it up, pulling some out. "I have an extra game bag if you want it. I got two when they came out. It should be able to hold all your games." "Really? Awesome." I looked through his games. "Have you played this one yet?" He held his hand out and I placed it in his palms. "Wow, your hands are really big." There was a silence between us and I almost started apologizing but he started to laugh. "Yeah, I guess they are. I hit a huge growth spurt a month ago and I haven't stopped since. But anyways no I haven't played this one yet. My younger cousin loves Pokemon so I thought it was just a kids game." I laughed in return and nodded. "Yeah, I mean it technically is but a lot of teenagers play it too, even some adults do." "Really? Which one is your favorite." "Probably Pokemon Red. It was the very first one released and that's the first one I ever played even though it came out before I was born. I remember being so angry that I couldn't beat Brock or Misty on the first try because I chose Charmander but I found out when the 3DS came out that the starter pokemon you chose were difficulty levels, I ended up choosing the hardest because I thought a fire type would be cool." He nodded and looked down at the cartridge in his hand. "Show me how to play?" "Uh, sure. It's pretty simple but you can reset the game when I leave that way you can choose your player and stuff."

I spent about an hour showing him how to play before I told him to reset it and try himself before we got too far into the game. He ended up choosing Litten, telling me he thought fire was cool too. I watched him play for a couple hours before we ended up both sitting on the bed side by side, watching tv for a few hours. "Hey, Silus?" "Yeah?" I stared into my lap, cracking each individual knuckle. "You're not… Uncomfortable with me being in your room, right?" "Why would I be?" "You know… The whole gay thing." He laughed at me and shook his head. "You know why I asked for your phone number?" "Uh… No, I don't." "I thought you were cute." I looked up at him and realized his cheeks were red. "Really?" "Yeah… I mean, I thought it was obvious." "Oh… I guess I'm just not used to people finding me attractive." Silus cocked an eyebrow at me and tilted his head, it reminded me of a dog. "Were you not very popular back in Pheonix?" "Uh, no. I actually… I actually didn't have any friends back in Pheonix." "Does that mean Leon was your first kiss?" "We actually weren't kissing in that picture…" I paused for a moment and then looked back into his eyes. "I actually don't think we've kissed at all… At least not on the lips. I mean I think he's kissed my neck." Silus scooted closer to me and slightly leaned in. "Well, then… Can I?" Butterflies immediately formed in my stomach, I looked into his eyes for a minute before I nodded. "Are you sure?" "Yeah." He leaned in and right before his lips touched mine the door burst open. "Guess who shi-" I jumped out of my skin, standing up beside Silis' bed and stared straight at the door. Silus grabbed one of his pillows and threw it at Embry. "Are you serious? How many times do I have to tell you to knock!" A deep growl came from Silus' throat and Sam, who I hadn't realized was standing behind Embry walked into the room. "Silus, calm down." His fists clenched and they shook at his side but slowly and surely they stopped and eventually he shoved his hands in his pocket. "Silus can we talk to you outside of your room?" "Yeah, sorry Felix can you sit here for a minute?" "Um, yeah. I'll be here." The three walked back out and shut the door behind them, I walked up to the door and put my ear to it, closing my eyes to try and listen better. I didn't make much out just something about something shifting and that Embry was ready for a ceremony they'd hold tonight. I jumped back onto the bed when their whispers quietened and I picked up the tv remote, scrolling through the channels. The door opened back up and Silus shut it behind him. "Hey, sorry. But I think I have to take you home, something came up." "Oh, that's okay. School ended like thirty minutes ago anyways." We walked out of the room, Silus lead me by my hand out to the truck. We drove in complete silence all the way to my house, when we parked Silus looked over at me. "I had a good time today. Maybe next week we can do something." I nodded and smiled at him. "Yeah… I hope everything goes well with whatever's happening." "Ignore whatever they say at school tomorrow, okay?" "Okay… Thanks for bailing me out." "Of course." I got out of the truck and ran up to my room, hoping Bella wouldn't hear me when I did.

Silus' POV

I followed Embry and Sam out the door, closing it behind me before walking a little ways down the hall. "What's up? Sam, why are you here?" "Embry shifted today." I didn't know whether to be excited or disappointed, being a werewolf was awesome. It came with its perks but it also came with downsides. "That's awesome Embry. Welcome to the pack." Sam looked behind me, towards my bedroom door and then back to myself. "You're going to have to take Felix home, we're going to do the ceremony tonight so we have to start preparing." "Okay, I'll be back soon."

The drive back to forks was quiet, I didn't know what to say to Felix now that we were alone again. The air between us was tense and nervous, unspoken words plagued my mind. We pulled up to his house and I looked over at him. Should I try and kiss him again? "I had a good time today. Maybe next week we can do something." Felix smiled and just nodded at me, he wished me good luck, thanked me for bailing me out and then ran up to his house. I waited until he was inside before I backed out of the driveway, driving back to the reservation.

When I got back Sam and I gathered pebbles to throw onto the roofs of the tribal elder's house to serve as a warning that the ceremony would be held tonight. When we got back to my house Sam shifted and howled to bring the pack to us, when they arrived we all shifted and ran off into the woods where we would howl as a pack for an hour. Sam and I as the two messengers then dressed in our wolf garments and painted our faces then went to the tribal elder's houses to invite them to the ceremony. When the sun began to fall over the horizon the ceremony began, the pack began to howl, whistle and cry as they walked around the designated building, the wolf house. They threw rocks onto the sides and banged on it with their fists, the rocks and bangs created music that pounded in my ears. Inside the house the elders began to recite a ceremonial song, which indicated for us to come inside. Sam and I crawled into the house first, wearing wolf masks. The rest of the pack followed, Jared came in last holding blankets that were tied to resemble a wolf tail. We shook salal bushes and danced as we made our way to the northeast corner of the house and when the elders stopped singing we all jumped on top of each other into a pile. Then the elders began the song over again, so we exited the house and threw our masks and salal bushes aside, taking off the garments which had our everyday clothes underneath. We re-entered the house and sat in no particular order.

Once everyone was seated we took turns singing, beating a stick onto our drums in unison. Embry sang last, we beat our drums and he was silent for a moment. "Just sing from your heart." I whispered to him, and with that he did, he started the song off and then we would repeat his words. When he couldn't think of words he just howled, we all howled together in unison, emotions flared in the tent and we truly felt as if we were all brothers. When we were done singing we shared a meal of fish and deer, the woman elders painted only the pack's faces except for Embry and when we were done eating Embry was handed a knife made from stone. He cut his long hair and it was thrown into the fire, symbolizing the death of Embry, the ashes were collected and used to then paint Embry's face, symbolizing the birth of a new man from the ashes. When his face painting was done he lay down in the house and his tattoo began, an elder used a hand tapping technique using the leftover soot from the fire for the ink. Hand tapping was painful, I held Embry's hand as he lay there. The tattoo was finally finished by sunrise, which concluded the ceremony.

Sam and I stayed behind to clean the wolf house, he didn't say anything to me as I collected the drums to put in their cases. "So, Felix. Huh?" I tensed up, grabbing the broom. "Yeah." He picked up any remaining firewood and threw it out the door. "You know he's not going to be able to come back to the reservation for a few weeks, right?" "I don't see why he can't." "Embry needs to learn control, first. It's too dangerous for him to be around until then." "Can't he just stay away from Embry?" I already knew the answer. "No, we can't risk Felix seeing anything." I nodded with a frown, sweeping the soot from the middle of the house outside the door, we should really invest in a shop vac. "And, Silus?" "Yeah?" "I won't tell anyone until you're ready, I already told Embry talking about what we saw today was off limits." "Thank you." "You can go ahead and go, I'll get the rest." I nodded and walked back to the house, breakfast was ready by the time I got home. Our dad was ecstatic that the both of us had the gene, our mom wasn't quite as happy. "How much is our grocery bill going to go up this time?" She teased as I sat down at the table. "Go wash the paint off your faces when you're done eating. I don't want you guys to get it on your pillows like last time. That was hard to clean." I picked at my food and my mom glared at me. "Silus, are you okay? What's wrong with my ray of sunshine?" "Nothing." "He's just mad I caught him with-" I threw my biscuit at Embry before he could finish, I widened my eyes at him as a warning and he immediately shoved an egg in his mouth. "Caught you with who?" My dad looked at my mom and rolled his eyes. "Probably trying to flirt with some girl, relax, Iris." My mom sighed and nodded. "Just make sure you're being safe." I groaned. "Come on, you don't think that badly of me, do you." "You're an eighteen year old boy, so, yes." Embry mumbled under his breath. "With what he's up to he doesn't need protection." I kicked Embry under the table and he kicked me back. "Not funny, Embry." I shoveled food into my mouth, eating as quickly as possible. I just wanted to go to sleep after being awake all night. When I was done I chugged the last of my orange juice and raced to the bathroom, washing the paint off my face and then going to my room. I shut the door behind me and flopped onto my bed, I was asleep after my head hit the pillow.
