Episode 35: Through The Diglett Tunnel

"Today, our heroes have decided to take a break from their journey and have some fun with their Pokemon. And when it comes to fun, what can be better than a good game of dodgeball.'

The group has stopped near a beautiful pond to have some fun. Chase suggests a game of dodgeball along with all their Pokemon, so everyone call out their Pokemon. Soon to teams are formed. One comprising of Chase and all his Pokemon – Pikachu, Pidgeotto, Nidoran, Bulbasaur and Charmander. The other team comprises of Elaine, Riley and all of their Pokemon – Eevee, Butterfree, Growlithe and Sandshrew. Vulpix, however, sit in shade caressing her tail and watching the game.

Riley starts the game everyone starts enjoying it. The competition escalates as everyone hits the ball back, trying to hit the opponents. Elaine hits the ball hard towards Chase and it hits him on the face, knocking him out. He goes and sits near Vulpix. After him, Riley, Pidgeotto, Charmander, Sandshrew, Butterfree, Elaine and Bulbasaur are knocked out respectively.

Finally, Pikachu and Nidoran are left on one side and Growlithe and Eevee on the other. Everyone cheer for their team. Growlithe starts the game by softly passing the ball to Eevee, who aims her hit at Pikachu. Pikachu uses his tail to hit the ball hard towards Eevee, but she manages to hit it back. Nidoran tries to head the ball back, but ends up bursting the ball with his needles. Everyone laughs and Elaine says that she has another ball to play with.

The game resumes with the new ball. Growlithe passes the ball to Eevee who hits it towards Pikachu. He hits it hard with his tail, this time Growlithe hits it back. Nidoran jumps again and this time he kicks the ball back. But, he uses so much force that the ball goes away into the nearby woods. Everyone laughs again and look at Elaine, who reveal that this was the last ball. Chase decides to form a task force to bring the ball back. Elaine argues it isn't needed, but Riley supports Chase. A task force comprising of Pikachu, Nidoran, Eevee and Growlithe is formed to find the ball. Pikachu leads the group into the woods.

In the woods, the ball bounces and rolls deeper into the woods and stop just in front of a cave's entrance. Something comes from underground and takes the ball inside the cave. A man standing beside the cave notices it.

Meanwhile, Pikachu and co arrive and begin their search for the ball. Wandering in the forest, they come near the same cave. Nidoran feels that the ball is inside, so the task force decides to check. They enter the cave and the man from earlier watches them go inside.

Back at the pond, the group has recalled all their Pokemon inside their Pokeballs. Elaine still feels the search unnecessary, but Chase tells her that it can be a good activity for them to bond as a team.

In the cave, Pikachu and co go deeper. Growlithe senses something following them. Eevee ignores it at first, but soon the whole group senses something moving underground. Pikachu and co decide to back out of the cave, but many Diglett come out of ground and surround them, blocking their path.

Back at the pond, now the whole group starts worrying about the Pokemon as they have taken too long to return. They decide to look themselves. Chase and Elaine send Pidgeotto and Butterfree respectively to have a look. Moreover, they themselves head into the woods in search.

In the woods, Pidgeotto and Butterfree soon return upon not finding the Pokemon. The group becomes more worried. The man from earlier finds the group worrying and asks them if they are finding their Pokemon. The astonished group follows him to the cave. The man tells them that the cave is entirely dug by Diglett who live inside, known as the Diglett Cave. He tells them that they can either go inside to find their Pokemon or wait outside till they come out themselves. Chase decides to go and free their Pokemon.

The group enters the cave and start calling for their Pokemon. But, many Diglett appear and block their way, trying to force them out of the cave. Chase refuses to go and calls out Pidgeotto using Gust forcing the Diglett to go underground. The group continue inside the cave. But, Diglett keep appearing to block their way, but Pidgeotto and Butterfree keep evading them. At last, the group makes it to the other end where they find a beautiful garden laid with various flowering and fruiting trees. They see Diglett planting new trees and grooming the grown bushes and shrubs. Elaine spots their Pokemon playing with many Diglett. They try approaching them, but many Diglett, led by a Dugtrio blocks their way. This time Chase goes for a soft path and convinces the Diglett and Dugtrio that they do not mean harm and are there for just finding their Pokemon. Their Pokemon also see them and rush to them.

Diglett and Dugtrio happily accept the group in their garden. Riley notes that Pokemon are much aware towards nature than humans. They play dodge ball with them for a while, then they leave the cave and move on their journey.
