Ethan sighed. That was an event he didn't want to remember. He looked up at the now starry night.
"Four," Ethan said. Brandon gave him a puzzled look. Ethan let a tear slide down his cheek.
"I was four when my mother died. She always liked the big dipper," Ethan said, laying down in the grass.
Brandon was silent. He laid down next to Ethan, placing his helmet on his chest.
"How…" Brandon faltered, as if he was deciding whether to ask his question.
"How did she die?" Brandon finally asked. Ethan closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
"She got into a car accident," Ethan said. "She was driving home from the store, and some drunk driver T-boned her. They both died in the hospital,"
"When were you born?" Brandon asked
"September 6th, 1985," Ethan said.
"January 20th, 1998," Brander said.
Ethan got up and brushed himself off. "What weapons do you have?"
Brander pulled out a Glock 19 and two Uzis. "I came prepared,"
Ethan grabs the two Uzis. He smiled. He definitely had enough diamond ammo for this. He looked in each magazine, checking if it was fully loaded. To his luck, they were. He grinned.
…
"You know, I should have taken those climbing lessons," Ethan grumbled as the climbed the wall of the palace. Ethan was struggling immensely as they gripped loose rocks.
Brandon laughed. "I took some because I wanted to climb mountains. Look where I am now," He grunted as he grabbed another piece of loose rock on the wall.
Then, as Ethan looked up, he saw a large dragon fall towards them.
"Look out!" Ethan said as he jumped to the side in panic. He reached for another rock…
And missed.
Ethan screamed as he started to fall, but Brandon immediately grabbed his grenade launcher and held it out, causing Ethan to grab it.
"I gotcha!" Brandon yelled. The spiraling dragon plummeted down, and hit the ground with a bone shattering CRACK!
Upon closer inspection, Ethan noticed that the dragon had no wings.
They might have been cut off, He thought.
Then, a dragon that was a bright bronze dived by them, flames bursting from its scales.
Wait a minute. Flames bursting from its scales?
"Go!" Ethan yelled as the picked up the pace.
…
They climbed to the top by the time it was dusk. They were both out of breath. Looking around, Ethan noticed tall, stone pillars around the walls. Up top, he could see chains connecting the spires together. But something didn't seem right…
Ethan pulled out a pair of binoculars and looks through.
He saw Tsunami! They were alive!
Ethan put the binoculars away and pulled out his flare gun.
Brandon's eyes darted to the gun. "You aren't gonna use that, are you?"
Ethan looked him dead in the eyes. "If we want to rescue the Doctor and Martha, we need to get inside. And not the hard way. We need something to get their attention though,"
Just as he said that, he heard something that almost sounded like a violin. Then, singing.
"Oh, the Dragonets are coming…"
Brandon cut Ethan a look. "Speak of the devil and up he jumps,"
"They're coming to save the day… they're coming to fight!"
Ethan noticed Brandon raise his Glock 19 in ready.
"For they know what's right!"
For some strange reason, tugging at the back of his mind, he had this feeling that this was somehow connected to Clay and Tsunami.
Then, this SandWing flew out of the palace and flew up to the spires.
"Stop that infernal noise!" She roared.
Then, Queen Scarlet said something, but he couldn't hear.
"Now!" Ethan yelled as he aimed his gun in the air and fired, sending the flare high in the sky. Sure enough, it caught their attention.
Queen Scarlet swooped down. "You." She hissed.
"Take us with the three," Ethan said.
Brandon gave him a confused look. "Three?"
Ethan nodded to three flying figures that were heading into the palace.
Queen Scarlet smiled evily. "With pleasure," She swiped at him, knocking him out.
