Watts put his hands over his ears as Ruth burst into tears. Miss James was trying to console her but it didn't seem to be working. She had been crying for quite a long time now and it was getting insufferable! Watts had given her tissues, had tried to call somebody for her and had even tried to pass it off as a joke, nothing had worked.
"Miss Newsome." Watts tried again.
Ruth kept crying. By the looks of it, she hadn't heard a word he had tried to say. What a surprise?!
"Do something." Miss James mouthed out of sight of Ruth.
"I'm trying." Watts mouthed back.
"Miss Newsome!" A shout came from the front door.
Ruth stopped crying. The shout sounded oddly familiar and she needed to listen to it. Watts looked at Miss James. He then turned slowly around to see who it was. Inspector Brackenreid was standing at the door. His face was contorted with anger. Watts knew he was in trouble.
"Inspector." Watts said, trying to calm him down before he shouted at all of them.
"I heard someone kidnapped some of my workforce." Brackenreid ignored Watts and strode right past him.
"Yes. My Henry is missing." Ruth sobbed a little but seemed to calm down.
"Sam and Crabtree too." Miss James answered for the others.
Brakenreid then saw the blackboard that the group had gathered together. He was somewhat impressed but was also a little bit mad that they hadn't solved the case yet. He looked back at Watts for the first time since he had arrived. Miss James really wanted to go back to the morgue but she felt like she would be shouted at if she did.
"So Watts, how is the investigation going so far?" Brakenreid asked.
"We have some idea as to where the gang have been hiding. We think we have the right people behind it." Watts didn't sound very confident.
"You think?!"
"Yes sir. We are still looking for the others but I have officers out looking for them."
"Lucky I didn't come back earlier then?"
"Yes sir."
"So who do we think is behind all of this?"

There was a knock at the door of the cell where the group were being kept. Crabtree was the first to get up and see who it was. He still couldn't see who it was as it was very dark outside the cell. Sam was right behind him with Myers next. Higgins and Pendrick stayed back. They weren't scared but thought it was best for the others to go first.
"Who's there?" Myers called out.
"They're not going to hear you." Sam spoke up rolling her eyes at Myers and how he was acting.
"Maybe they will. You never know Samantha." Myers said to annoy Sam.
Sam didn't react but she didn't really have time to as the door then swung open. One of the men who had gotten them out of the van was on the other side.
"You have to come with me." The man said with a blank expression across his face.
Sam grabbed Crabtree's hand. They were then taken to a room with one desk and boxes covering the walls. The door was locked behind them. A piece of chalk lay on the desk and a chair in the other corner just stood there. They all huddled in the middle of the room.
"Sam…" Crabtree whispered.
"Yeah." Sam answered.
"You can let go of my hand now."
Sam let go of Crabtree's hand and went red from doing this. She hadn't meant to do that. She could hear Higgins chuckling behind his hand. Before she could do anything about it however, a microphone crackled to life.
"Welcome one and all to the best show of the year. A mystery to end all mysteries." The voice boomed.
"Great! It's like a circus here." Pendrick moaned.
"Now the main part of our show, detectives and the flood. Seems to be a repeat for some."
"What are they on about?!" Myers moaned just as loud as Pendrick did earlier.
"Oh no." Crabtree whispered.
"What's the matter George? You don't know what they mean do you?" Sam asked, seeing the look on his face.
"Something happened a few years ago. It's probably nothing."

Murdoch could hear raised voices outside his hospital room. The doctor was mad when they got back that he had somehow snuck out. Julia, who was shouting just as loud, was arguing with him over why he was needed elsewhere right now. He really wanted to say something to them, either to shut them up or support Julia. The door then opened with Julia slamming the door behind her.
"What a little…" Julia shouted to make sure the doctor knew exactly what she thought of him.
"Julia." Murdoch stopped her before she could say anything she would regret.
"You'd think we'd been out for days!"
"He's just concerned, that's all."
"Well so am I. At least I don't go telling the whole world about it."
"Oh I don't know. You've told a lot of people."
Murdoch instantly regretted this as he received a smack on the arm from her. It didn't hurt very much but he knew not to say anymore about the situation.
"Do you think we could climb out of the window?" Murdoch quickly changed the subject before Julia's smacks got any worse.
"If you do, I'm not speaking up for you again." Julia said sizing up the window to see if Murdoch could fit.
"I wouldn't ask you to."
Julia lifted up the window. Murdoch wasn't exactly in the right condition to be climbing out of the window but if it was going to help the case, no one was going to stop him. She nodded after looking at every part of the escape plan. She might hate herself for letting William go like this but Sam was in danger.
"You be careful. If you don't then I'll ring your neck." Julia wagged her finger in William's face as he started to climb out of the window.
"Thanks for the confidence Julia." Murdoch rolled his eyes with a smile on his face.
"Good luck." Julia wished him.
William kissed Julia goodbye and then made a run for it. The climb hurt a little but when he was on the ground it was quite easy to get away. Right straight to the station.

"Your aim is to find out exactly who did this. Solve everything and you go. Otherwise the water gets you." The voice continued to tell.
Crabtree quickly helped Sam onto one of the desks with Pendrick and Myers on the other. Higgins climbed on after Sam and then Crabtree. It was just in case but they knew this might take a while.
"Solve the whole case?" Sam thought to herself.
"Right, I suppose we'd better get started." Myers was the first to speak as the voice stopped.
"You're going to be a lot of help! You've been missing for most of this case!" Pendrick tutted.
"Guys." Sam warned them.
Pendrick turned away from Myers so he didn't have to face him. Sam had had enough of both of them. Pendrick wasn't so bad most of the time but he did hold a grudge for a very long time.
"Did anyone recognise that voice?" Higgins asked.
"It was a woman we know that much. I heard two other women's voices when I was thrown in front of them." Sam told the others.
"Anything else?" Higgins continued.
"One of them was like a girl's voice. One of the others told them to be quiet but in a nice voice."
"A girl?!" Myers scoffed at this.
Crabtree and Higgins looked at each other when Sam had said this. Sam could see straight through them. They knew something she didn't.
"What are you not telling me?" Sam asked them, staring at them to answer before she pushed them off the desk.

Murdoch finally made his way to the station. It had been quite a while to get there but he was finally there. He could hear Brakenreid's voice from inside and could see a shadow of his outline so he must be here. Murdoch sighed, took a deep breath and then entered the station.
"Sir?" Murdoch asked, coming through the door.
Brakenreid stopped talking and turned. His face was covered in surprise when he saw Murdoch. So was Miss James but Watts was somewhat fine with the idea that Murdoch was back.
"What are you doing here Murdoch?" Brakenreid asked, trying to sound happy and somewhat angry at the same time.
"I've come to help on the case." Murdoch answered.
"You're supposed to be in the hospital." Miss James sounded more worried than Brackenreid.
"I got discharged." Murdoch lied through his teeth. He knew if he told the truth he would be straight back to the hospital without another word.
"Right. So I guess you've heard about Sam and the others then." Brakenreid sounded more at ease.
"I have. Anything back from the scene yet?" Murdoch asked hopefully.
Watts was about to answer Murdoch's question when a constable came flying through the door. The young constable came to a halt just in front of Murdoch panting. He had obviously run from the carriage that had brought him here.
"We found them sir." The constable said, still panting.
"Are they alright?" Watts was the first to speak after hearing this.
"We don't know sir but we know exactly where they are and we can get to them. Well as soon as you're ready sir." The constable corrected.
Murdoch let out a sigh of relief which tugged a little at his stitches. This made him wince behind his hand so the others couldn't see. Brakenreid was still very worried about Murdoch but didn't want to show it just in case Watts or Miss James saw.
"Right, let's go and save them then."
