Watts followed behind Murdoch and Crabtree. It was only just in case they needed him but he was sure they wouldn't. Crabtree knew he was there but didn't say anything. He didn't want to ruin the element of the surprise when facing the bad guys. Murdoch was just concentrating on where he was going and on rescuing Sam.

"Sir." Crabtree whispered as they were getting nearer and nearer where the baddies were hiding.

"What is it George?" Murdoch whispered back.

"Do you have a plan to deal with the women past these doors? I mean they're alright on their own but all together…" Crabtree shuddered.

"We'll be fine George. Just be ready for a bit of a fight." Murdoch warned him.

"Yes sir."

Murdoch was right. It wasn't going to be easy to get Sam away from her kidnappers and all three of them showed different fighting tactics. He just kept thinking to not talk about dolls, murders or brothers. All of these would set off one of them! They finally reached the door where Sa had been taken. There were voices coming from within. Murdoch stalled.

"Something wrong sir?" Crabtree stared at the detective.

"You can come out Watts, I know you're there." Murdoch called quietly behind them.

"I thought you could do with some help." Watts appeared from the shadows alone.

"Well I'll take what we can get. Ready?" Murdoch asked one last time to his companions.

They both nodded as Murdoch reached for the door. He slowly opened the door to try and surprise the people within. This was going to be interesting!

The door to the station flew open once again. Julia and Miss James looked up to see Ruth holding a hankie to her mouth. She had been crying again. Miss James went over to her to see what she wanted.

"I can't wait any longer. I need to know how my Henry is." Ruth demanded.

"We haven't had any news." Miss James shook her head.

"You must have! You must have something by now!" Ruth put her foot down hard on the floor.

Before Julia could try to discuss it further, the phone rang. Julia gave Miss James an apologetic look and answered the phone. Miss James sighed and waited for news from the phone.

"Station House No.4." Julia said into the phone.

"Inspector. You've got them! Well that's great news. Of course we'll come right away. Goodbye." Julia put the phone down with a relieved smile on her face.

"What did the inspector want?" Miss James asked hopefully.

"They've got them! Higgins, Pendrick, everyone." Julia smiled.

Ruth squealed with happiness and nearly burst Miss James' ear drums. She didn't mind however, as she was very pleased that the rescue mission seemed to have gone well.

"Well we'd better go and see them." Miss James grabbed her coat and was the first one out the door.

Ruth didn't need to be told twice. She raced out of the door, flagging down the nearest carriage. She didn't care how much it would cost! If she could see Henry again, she would pay anything! She climbed into the carriage and motioned over to Miss James and Julia to hop in.

"We seem to have a ride." Miss James chuckled.

"Come on. I don't think she'll wait much longer." Julia hopped into the carriage with Ruth taking up one whole seat.

As soon as Miss James was in, Ruth banged on the roof for the carriage to move off. The carriage lurched into life and made its way quickly to the buildings where the crew had been rescued.

"You need to have that looked at Myers." Brakenreid kept telling the spy who was trying to walk away.

"I'm fine! Just a scratch." Myers shook him off once again.

"Doctor Ogden is coming, she can have a look at it. Just stay here for a bit longer."

"She doesn't need to look at it."

"I beg to differ." Higgins supported Brackenreid.

Myers turned towards Higgins and the inspector standing behind him. He rolled his eyes and nodded as he stayed where he was. He might be a spy and not normally listen to the police, Pendrick wouldn't listen at all and knock him out again! Pendrick on the other hand was staring at the buildings waiting for the others.

"They'll be back soon." Higgins noticed.

"I just wish I could do something. I feel a bit useless to be honest." Pendrick shrugged.

"Just be relieved we're out. Detective Murdoch and George will get Sam out. They're the best."

"But Murdoch is injured."

"So?"

"What if he isn't at his best? I'm not saying Crabtree won't be able to do it but…"

A squeal came from just behind Myers. A blurr rushed past them and flung its arms around Higgins. Higgins already knew who it was. Ruth's squeal had been heard by him about a hundred times by now, so he knew it off by heart.

"I'm so glad you're okay." Ruth started to sob again.

"We got your call." Miss James smiled.

"Myers has got a head wound that needs looking at. Otherwise I think Higgins is alright. Don't know about Pendrick." Brackenreid said.

"Miss James, would you see to the head wound?" Julia said, pointing her head over to Myers.

"Of course." Miss James nodded, heading over to Myers.

"You did that on purpose didn't you?" Brackenreid asked knowing Myers and Julia didn't get on.

"I know he won't listen to me. Miss James is stern, he'll listen to her." Julia tried to throw the accusation off.

Julia looked around the group gathered. Brackenreid could sense her worry at who was missing.

"Sam was taken by the gang members. Murdoch, Crabtree and Watts have gone to look for them." Brackenreid told her.

"Okay. I'll go and see Pendrick." Julia nodded a little taken aback by this information.

"I don't think he'll take it."

Julia patted the inspector on the shoulder and headed over. She walked past Higgins trying to console Ruth, still very much attached to him. Pendrick diverted his attention as she walked up. He didn't want to look unhappy to be out.

"I came to check you over." Julia said.

"I'm fine. It's Myers that needs the attention." Pendrick tried to divert her attention.

"Miss James is seeing to him and I think Ruth has Higgins covered." Julia joked looking over at Higgins.

"You're right there."

"But you're okay? No injuries or anything?" Julia made sure.

"No. Just worrying about the others I guess."

"I'm sure they'll be out soon. Sam doesn't like to stay in one place for long."

"I know that well!"

Julia chuckled when Pendrick said this. Sam didn't even like to stay in the station for five minutes! She wouldn't be surprised if she rescued herself before Murdoch and Crabtree got to her. True the foe did sound quite difficult so maybe this time she needed a bit of help.

"It's people they've faced before." Pendrick muttered.

"What do you mean?" Julia asked.

"Three women have broken out of the asylum. Crabtree said you've faced them before."

Julia stared at the building. There were only three women that could have broken out. All three of them are very dangerous. Now her worries had grown!

Sam turned towards the door as it opened. Her father came through first followed by Crabtree and Watts soon after. She was pleased to see them but could tell they had been seen.

"Well, well, well. What have we here?" Maddie asked, staring Murdoch right in the face.

"Maddie. Rose. Mrs Lynd." Murdoch met the three women facing him.

Crabtree and Watts pulled their pistols but kept them out of sight. The three women would be even more dangerous if they were spooked. Murdoch as per usual didn't have one, so relied on them to be a good shot.

"So you survived that shot Detective?" Rose asked, still cradling her doll close.

"No thanks to you three."

"Well it was an accident. You just got in the way." Maddie sounded all sweet and innocent.

"Thanks Girly." Murdoch muttered.

"I don't think you'll need those constable." Mrs Lynd noticed the guns.

Murdoch motioned to Watts and Crabtree to put their guns away. They listened reluctantly. Sam closed her eyes and sighed as they did this. The women had control of the room and weren't going to let go.

"Let my daughter go." Murdoch finally said.

"I don't think we will. You see we need to get across the border and we might need something to persuade the guards." Rose spoke for the first time.

"Then take me. Just let Sam go." Murdoch tried to bargain.

"I don't think they'll listen to us. People have tried taking you and it hasn't gone very well." Mrs Lynd supported Rose.

"Then take me." Crabtree spoke up.

Murdoch quickly turned to Crabtree. George was always the one to try and get people out of trouble, even if this meant risking his own life.

"I'm afraid not Constable Crabtree. Don't you think about it either Watts." Rose motioned to Watts.

"Then we're not going to stop you?" Murdoch reluctantly said.

"Doesn't look like it." Maddie smiled once more.

Murdoch took a step forward. Maddie was quick to step away from him as he came closer. Sam watched on quietly. She didn't want any of them to take a risk.

"I wouldn't if I were you detective. The rest of the gang are just behind those doors and if we give a signal they'll come in and save us." Mrs Lynd tutted.

"What are the gang for?" Murdoch tried to change the subject.

"We couldn't exactly cause crimes ourselves. The asylum frowns on that. As soon as we're done here then they'll be taken care of." Rose revealed.

"You see there's an inside man." Maddie went too far.

"Maddie!" Rose hissed.

"Inside our station? Who?" Watts asked.

"We can't reveal that. We'd better be off." Rose said, making sure Maddie didn't say anymore.

"Dad!" Sam called out.

Murdoch lurched forward and tried to grab Maddie. Crabtree moved forward to help with Watts standing there just watching.

A gunshot sounded throughout the building site. This made everyone jump as one. Julia tried to rush towards the building but was held back by Pendrick. He didn't want to have rescue another person on top of the four already inside.

"What on earth was that?" Brackenreid exclaimed, putting a hand to his forehead.

"My cue." Myers said, pulling a gun out of his pocket aiming it at Pendrick.
