Ruth smiled as the others still looked very surprised by her saying this. She didn't really get why they were staring but just put it off as they were waiting for her answer. Higgins was the most surprised at Ruth getting an idea. They were married but in the years they've been married, Ruth didn't really come up with many ideas.

"So what is your idea Miss Newsome?" Brackenreid coughed bringing everyone back into the room, well carriage.

"What if we go in there but take them by surprise? I mean like we go in there but we enter from different places. Like take them out one by one." Ruth looked more and more happy as she said it.

"Well that's something we could do." Higgin suggested hoping the others would agree.

"Yes!" Julia snapped her fingers.

Brackenreid was probably the one who was still doubting the idea as the others got out of the carriage. He went to say something several times but was stopped by Julia's ice cold stare.

"So who's going where?" Miss James said as Ruth walked powerfully to the buildings.

"Inspector?" Ruth called.

"Yes Miss Newsome."

"You'll have to sort that out. I don't really know what I'm doing." Ruth said, still walking.

"Of course."

Brackenreid rolled his eyes towards Julia. Julia could see where he was coming from but they needed to be supportive where Ruthie was involved. Either that or Higgins would kill them.

"Ruth you got this. Just keep going." Julia urged trying to punch Brackenreid in the arm.

"Okay. If you're sure." Ruth sounded like she was shaking from head to toe.

Higgins and Miss James looked at each other. Miss James might be the newest member of the team but she knew from experience what Ruth could be like. Maybe this wasn't the best idea. Hopefully the others inside would have something up their sleeves just in case.

Myers didn't move. Pendrick tried to look for whoever just said that but the room was covered in shadows. He could barely see a thing! The voice didn't speak again. Maybe it was his imagination playing tricks on him.

"Put the gun down Myers." The voice said again, a bit more powerful this time.

"I see you've regained your strength then detective." Myers smiled as Murdoch's face came out of the shadows.

Pendrick really wanted to let out a sigh of relief when Murdoch appeared. Murdoch gave a slight nod over to Pendrick. Pendrick took a few steps back from Myers and was met by Sam. Sam put her arm around Pendrick's shoulders.

"It's over Myers. Stand down." Murdoch repeated, showing his anger at Myers' betrayal.

"Where are the others? You can't have taken them out by yourself." Myers said, seeing movement in the shadows.

"Who says I'm alone?" Murdoch smirked.

Crabtree and Watts came out from nowhere. Both were holding Rose and Mrs Lynd. Myers raised one of his eyebrows in his usual sarcastic look.

"And where is Maddie? Didn't let her escape did you?" Myers asked, feeling a bit more in control.

Murdoch didn't respond.

"Put the gun down Myers. You're surrounded." Crabtree spoke for Murdoch.

Myers looked around one last time for some kind of reprieve. Mrs Lynd looked quite calm cradling her doll and Rose even looked a bit calm. He slowly put his hands up and dropped the gun to the floor. Pendrick stumbled back when he did this. Crabtree, Watts and Murdoch got about arresting the women and leaving with them.

"You alright?" Sam asked once they were gone.

"Been better but yeah. What was that gunshot all about? We thought someone was hurt." Pendrick asked worriedly.

"Crabtree set it off. Some sort of distraction so we could get control of all this." Sam smiled from ear to ear.

"Thank goodness for that. I owe Crabtree a lot don't I?"

"I'm sure he won't mind."

"How's Murdoch?"

"I didn't see. If he's hiding something, then he's hiding it very well." Sam shrugged looking out of the door.

"What's the matter? We won didn't we?" Pendrick smirked.

"Do you think Maddie will come back for us?" Sam shuddered thinking of where Maddie could have gotten to.

"Hopefully it'll take a while before she turns up. Don't worry about it right now." Pendrick did circles on Sam's back.

Sam nodded and headed out of the door with Pendrick. He was right. Maddie would take ages to find someone else to do this with. She wouldn't be able to do all this again on her own.

A sleek shadow ran through away from the buildings trying not to get spotted. Maddie had managed to get out just in time. If she had stayed any longer then she would have been taken like the others. All she had to do was get to the border. With her being on her own it might be a bit easier to get there. She ran up to a road and stood in the middle of it. An automobile screeched to a halt right in front of her.

"What on earth are you doing?!" The driver shouted.

"I'm all alone out here. I need someone to take me to the border." Girly said, sounding timid and afraid.

"Alright get in." The driver said, waving his hand to the vehicle.

Girl skipped her way to the automobile. This was going to be so easy!

000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Watts and Crabtree took Mrs Lynd and Rose to the police carriage waiting. Murdoch, Sam and Pendrick looked around for the others but couldn't find them.

"Where on earth have they got to?" Murdoch tutted, surprised to see no party waiting for them.

"Typical! You solve the whole case and then there's no one to congratulate you afterwards!" Pendrick threw up his hands sarcastically.

"William!" Julia shouted from across the building site.

Julia rushed into Murdoch's open arms. Miss James and Brackenreid stayed back as they did this. Ruthie started to cry and Higgins had to hold onto her as her shoulders began to shake. Once Julia had stopped hugging Murdoch, he turned to Sam. His face looked mad.

"Look dad I'm sorry for putting you through this but I mean we solved the case." Sam said trying to calm Murdoch down before

Murdoch folded his arms. Julia and Brackenreid were ready to step in if any fights happened. They were hoping not but after the rest of that day, they wouldn't be surprised.

"I'm sorry for getting Pendrick involved but he helped loads. He'll happily tell you that. As I didn't have you he just helped and don't take it out on George and Henry because they didn't do anything. They just helped out and found things." Sam continued to ramble.

Higgins looked up from consoling Ruth. She was still sniffling but had stopped crying out loud at least.

"So I hope you're not angry at me." Sam stopped rambling finally.

Sam closed her eyes, ready for Murdoch to have another go at her. Everyone held their breath waiting for some response.

"Come here." Murdoch said, holding out his arms.

Sam smiled as Murdoch brought her in for a massive hug.

"I'm so sorry." Sam muttered.

"Don't say that. I'm so proud of you Sam." Murdoch muttered back, still holding her close.

As they came out the hug, Murdoch squinted as his injury began to hurt again. Julia and Brackenreid rushed to his side. Crabtree and Watts also rushed over after leaving Mrs Lynd and Rose to the officers of the carriage.

"I'm alright. Everyone, stop worrying!" Murdoch waved them away.

"No you're not William Murdoch. Come on, let's get you back to the hospital and no complaining!" Julia warned him, wagging her finger.

Murdoch rolled his eyes towards Sam. He did follow Julia however, to the carriage waiting for them. Crabtree walked over to Sam and Pendrick.

"I'll meet you back at the station." Higgins whispered to Ruth.

"Don't leave me!" Ruth demanded.

"I won't be long, Ruth. just wait for me for once." Higgins let go of Ruth and let Julia guide her to the carriage.

Higgins joined Pendrick, Crabtree and Sam watching the carriages leave with everyone. They just needed some air.

"Well that's that then." Pendrick let out a massive sigh of relief once they were gone.

"I can't believe Myers. After all the cases we've done with him!" Higgins shook his head.

"Just can't trust people these days." Sam joined him.

"What about Maddie? I mean she's still out there." Higgins continued to stir the air.

"I think she can take care of herself." Crabtree grimaced thinking about facing her again.

"I suppose you won't want me around for the next case. Now that everything's back to usual and everything." Pendrick sighed.

"And what makes you think that?" Sam nudged Pendrick in the arm.

"But I thought…" Pendrick started.

"Detective Murdoch is still in hospital and I think I heard Detective Watts going back on holiday." Crabtree joined Sam in her thinking.

"And we could always use another set of hands." Higgins backed them.

"You're serious?"

"Of course we are. Welcome to the team Detective Pendrick." Sam held out her hand.

Pendrick shook Sams hand. The inspector might not like the idea of Pendrick working with them but his word wasn't going to mean much to them. He would just have to get used to it for a little while that was all.

000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

When Murdoch was back in his hospital bed, Julia came to see him. She was exhausted after the long day but had to see him before she went home. Murdoch shuffled up the bed so they could sit together.

"What did the doctor say?" Julia asked, sighing as she sat down.

"The injury is slightly better but I'm going to stay here a little longer." Murdoch said.

"I thought he was going to say that."

"Well Sam has it all together. I'm sure she can solve any case after today!"

"You really meant what you said, don't you?"

"That I'm proud of her? I've been proud of her since the day she was born. I just might not show it all the time."

"Well I can tell you one thing Detective William Murdoch."

"What's that?"

"She's most certainly your daughter."
