It was the following morning after exams. You had spent the night at Light's house and had just woken up on his couch. You heard quiet murmuring but decided to just brush it off as Light on the phone. As soon as you opened your eyes, you jumped. You had been startled by a prepubescent girl- Sayu.

"Light! Light! Your girlfriend is finally up!" She giggled and teased to herself.

"I'm not his girlfriend." You groaned. 'God, she's annoying. I cannot deal with children in the morning'

You sat up and looked backwards to see Light cooking a small breakfast. He was making a quick meal of toast and eggs. He placed two plates onto the table.

"Good morning, Y/N."

You yawned quietly, "Good morning...What time is it?"

"It's seven." Light walked over to you and smiled, lifting your messy hair slightly out of your face with his finger. "I'll drive us to school in a bit. Start getting ready."

"Ready? I don't have any clothes to change into."

"Oh! Feel free to use mine."

"Alrighty." You walked up to his bedroom and picked out a loose pair of jeans, and a plain, solid colored shirt. You tucked the shirt into your (technically Light's) jeans. You had wanted to wear a belt but didn't feel like stealing any of Light's so you just settled with what you had. You brushed your hair out slightly with your finger and figured that it was good enough. This was college anyways. No one really cared how you looked, they were all just there to pass the class and move on.

Y/N walked down the steps, threw on her Air Forces, then sat at the table next to Light. She ate her breakfast quickly, but carefully as to not spill any crumbs. She had just changed clothes and didn't want to be rude. When the both of them finished eating, they got up and started heading towards Light's car. The ride was silent for the most part with occasional small talk, and modern pop music quietly playing on the radio in the background.

When you got to the campus you quickly met up with L. The boys started talking about tennis for whatever reason and ended up having a tennis match. You watched them carefully and observed. It seemed as if the tennis match was MORE than a tennis match. They were calculating their moves and watching each other with precision. Anyways, both of the boys were really...REALLY freakishly good. Others had started to gather around to watch them. You heard their talks of gossip and whispers.

"Are these two really amateurs? Who are they anyway?"

"I think their names are Light Yagami and Hideki Ryuga. These are the same two guys who scored perfect on the exam."

"That's 4 games all. Light Yagami to serve." The game seemed to have a judge now as well.

"Ah, you won't believe this. I thought I'd heard the name Light Yagami somewhere before, so I checked. He was the 02, 03 Junior High tennis champion. Apparently during the 3rd year award ceremony, he announced that he was hanging up his racket, and I guess he hasn't played competitively since." 'Oh yeah,' You thought to yourself, 'I guess I forgot about that.'

"Hey, hey. What about my Ryuga? Don't tell me you haven't noticed him holding his own against this former junior high champ." 'Your Ryuga? I wonder if that makes him uncomfortable. He's practically a stranger and you're claiming that you own him...'

"Game and set. Won by Light Yagami. Six games to four!"

"Congratulations Light! Good try, Ryuga!" You yelled. Light looked at you and flashed a smile. The three of you met up once again and started walking. It seemed that this would be the group you'd be sticking with for most of college.

"Just as I expected, you beat me." L started, referencing Light. You laughed a bit in your head. Honestly, L put up a good fight. You were almost ninety-nine percent sure that it was going to end in a tie.

"It's been a while since I had played that hard. I'm feeling kind of thirsty. Plus there's something I wanted to ask you about. Ryuga, wanna go somewhere for a drink? I'm sorry Y/N, it's a private discussion so you wouldn't be able to join." Light said.

"Ahh that's okay." You sighed, "I need to separate from you guys soon anyway to pick up my car." You decided to just shut up for the rest of the conversation and listen quietly.

"Light, you humored me with the tennis match. The least I can do is answer some of your questions. But before this conversation goes any further, there's something I must tell you."

"What's that?

"I suspect that you, Light Yagami, are in fact Kira. Now, if you still want to ask me something, then please go ahead." 'As if he didn't know that by now, it's so obvious. Why would L tell a random stranger that he's L?'

"Ha, you think I'm Kira?"

"Well, when I say I suspect you, it's only a 1% possibility. That aside, I don't mind telling you that once I'm sure you aren't Kira and I can verify that your deductive skills are as strong as I think they are, I'd like nothing more than to have you work with me on this investigation."

Light hummed to himself in response.

"Alright, Y/N. We're going to head off now." Light turned to you.

"Uh, okay. Buh-bye." You waved and headed off towards you car.

"Bye Y/N." Light called after you. You pulled out your keys from your pocket and they jangled in your hand. Your car was kind of plain- the outside of it anyways. The inside was blinged out with some cool cushions and covers and such. You drove all the way to your house and it was so pretty uneventful up until you got into your bedroom.

It had been 3 and a half hours since you left the school and you received a call from Light on your flip-phone. It rung twice before you picked up.

"Y/n?"

"Light? What's up?"

"Look..my dad just had a heart attack and I just needed someone to talk to.."

"Holy sh*t, Light! Is he okay? Was it Kira? What happened?"

"He's okay, he had the heart attack because he was overworked, that's all. The Kira case has been stressing him out."

You hummed. "If you ever need to vent or anything, I'm here y'know?"

"Yeah."

The two of you sat in solemn silence on the phone. You finally decided to break it.

"Anyways, how'd it go with L?"

"Ah? Pretty well, though he says there is a 3% chance that I'm Kira, though. I hate that he's accusing me of that. I wish he'd just put himself in my position. It's one of the worst feelings ever."

"Don't worry, I don't believe you're Kira." That was a lie. You know Light. He HAD to be Kira. You thought so anyway.

"Thank you, Y/n. At least SOMEONE believes me."

"How did he even come to that conclusion?"

"He tested me on some evidence from the case to see how I'd interpret it and figure it out."

"I see." You paused for a second. "Where are you right now?"

"I'm on my way back from the hospital. I got to go. I'm about to start driving. Bye."

"Bye. Hope your dad feels better." You said as you hung up.

OH MY GOSH GUYS I'M SO SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG! I've been super busy with exams, cheer, summer homework, etc. Plus I had to go to my grandparents house, I'm actually there right now. I'm not really proud of this chapter but it's been 9 weeks and I NEEDED to get something out. I promise I won't leave you guys with this big of a gap of space again. I'm also sorry if this book isn't exactly accurate to the episode. I wanted to watch the episode as I was writing this chapter but it never wanted to download on Netflix so I had to work off the script. This is a 'slow-burnish' story so I need to get the chapters out more frequently so that you guys don't get bored. Thank you all for waiting for me. Have a lovely day. AUDIENCE AUTHOR NOTE!!!

Hello! I'm also kokichisbigtoes on most other fanfic sites! There's a chance that this story may get taken down on here and if that happens...it's not the main upload site so it doesn't matter I'm not a big fan of so if i ever stop uploading on here, you know where to find me. No one uses this site anyways. I think the 'no second pov' and 'no-self inserts' rule is really stupid because I only read those types of stories but oh well. Worst case scenario, I change 'Y/N' into 'Yin' and 'You' into 'I'. Love y'all, bye.
