We'll be jumping into of some POV's for some fun. This is quite the lengthy chapter so I cut it short, probably gone on for 7 or 8k words but 6k is good enough for me.
This is also a double upload which means chapter 5 is coming out along with this one. Reasoning? Getting the story moving a little bit faster.
Update: When self reviewing the chapter it somehow got to 7K words which really wasn't wanted but bear with me I promise to not let it happen again. Now hope ye enjoy
The Party
Rocky huffed as Ryder gave Zuma, Arrby, Catherine, Ella, and Tuck a pep talk about their roles. Luna opted on staying at the lookout. Chase wasn't to thrilled about going to a party either. The chance of spiking drinks and people hurting his teammates was a constant threat he didn't like to think of.
On the other hand the rest of the pups were stoked. Skye had plans with a certain chihuahua while Zuma wanted to just have dumb and do some dumb shit. "C'mon Chase, don't be such a buzzkill tonight." Everest whined.
Chase raised an eyebrow. "I'm just not a fan of parties. There are so many people you can hang out with and you chose me. Why?" He questioned as he got annoyed with the lavender Husky.
She gives him a shrug even though she knew clearly why. 1 was because of something that Marshall told and 2 was for a close friend. He clearly wasn't interested in talking to Tracker or Her. "I'm not sure, I feel like there's a soft spot within you." Everest replied with an innocent smile. She got that from Marshall, she heard the two had a strong bond but they didn't show it because other things get in the way like *cough* Ash *cough*Marshall could possibly be the person Chase trusts the most.
Chase rolled his eyes and sighs. "Waste your time trying to find a whole lot of nothing." Chase replies trying to discourage her and get her to buzz off.
Everest gave up and walked away from the annoyingly stubborn Shepherd. She walked away to go find someone a bit more...easy going.
Out in the back Marshall and Ash laid under a tree in silence. "This is relaxing." Marshall said breaking the barrier.
Ash hummed in agreement. "I learned this from my mother w-when I wasss...younger..." she replied realizing the mistake she just made. Her tone saddened and her words stretched. Flashbacks started to reply every old memory of them she had.
Marshall instantly noticed the change of tone and atmosphere of emotion. "Are you okay?" Marshall concerningly asks as he sits up to help his friend.
Ash sniffles up the little tears that slipped out. She didn't even feel like trying to pretend it was okay. "I already talked to Rocky about this but I didn't tell him the worst part about my parents. It's been eating me up inside forever and at this point just the words parents makes me wanting to cry or throw a fit." She explained getting right to it. She expected a dumb answer from the Dalmatian like Rocky but he was completely different.
Marshall instantly lowered his tone and started use whatever instinct he had to try and calm her down. "I'm sorry, I don't know the pain you're going through but from now on...I promise to be there to help, as a friend and family member...metaphorically of course." Marshall offered. Ash stopped her sniffled but still looked down in sadness.
Marshall thought about his parents and what they would do when he was sad. Only thing that came to mind was giving a tight hug with no words.
"Screw it." He thought to himself and wrapped his paws around Ash.
She willingly accepted it and gave a hug back. Marshall noticed the sniffling was completely gone. "Thank you." She said in a soft voice.
Marshall nodded. "Sometimes a hug is all someone needs." He replied and smiled.
He expected the hug the end by now but Ash still clinched onto him. He desperately wanted to ask her to let go but then he would've felt bad and like a jerk.
"Hey Ma- you two are having a moment...I'll just go." Everest nervously chuckled and slowly backed away from the two Dalmatians.
Ash let go of the hug in embarrassment not realizing she embraced the hug for so long. Under pressure she has a tendency to speak really fast. "It's nothing! We aren't dating just hugging like normal friends!"
Everest slowly nodded not understanding a word she said. "Right right...I didn't mean to interrupt." She replied as she headed back inside.
Ash sighed wishing the hug lasted just a little bit longer. Marshall patted her back not knowing what else to do. Usually one good hug for him but he's not everyone else so he just tried doing things that wouldn't get her even more sad.
From the top of the lookout Rocky watched the entire thing go down. "Dude you'we starting to creep me out. First the shmeat beating sessions and now spying on Marshall and Ash? You awe down howrendously bad man." Zuma said scaring the mix breed.
"YOU HAVE TO KNOCK! I've said that before!" Rocky exclaimed getting mad at the chocolate colored lab. Zuma simply shrugged and looked out the window to see Everest slowly backing away.
Rocky coughed. "I can guarantee you once another couple starts everyone is going to be dating." Rocky says trying to pull prediction like Rubble.
Zuma had to disagree. "That's not twue at all. Eventually evewyone will get a mate. Besides you of couwse." Zuma replied.
Rocky shook his head. "Nope, I have someone in mind who might think like me as well" Rocky cockily replied.
Zuma helplessly sighed knowing Rocky wouldn't quit trying to contact that dog of royalty. Best he could do is break and burn his hopes. "It's not gonna happen. You don't even have a way to contact her." Zuma stated.
Rocky nods in agreement. "Not yet at least. I don't think you know how good I am with coding. Sure Ryder is better at building and maybe Rubble could rival my designs but I'm the genius around here. I could do stuff many others can't do." Rocky explained. Zuma nervous chuckled as he stared mentally questioning Rocky mental health.
As so, Rocky continued. "I'll find a way to contact her and I'm sure she'll appreciate the intricate ways I could. If she does tell me to go I'll go. I respect people's privacy unlike you." Rocky finished with an insult.
Zuma nodded. He was kinda curious to see how Rocky would pull this off.
Chase walked around in a circle on the side of the lookout bugged out of his mind. He got Zuma's info from Rocky and worried about some things. Thing number one is the Syndicate. The leader of it was arrested and killed in privacy away from the public. He didn't want to jump to conclusions but the way everything is set up worries him to death. The symbol, the private execution, and the spies things all lined up for the perfect fake death. They could be working away from the spotlight and nobody would know. He started to think of the supplies he need to keep track of all this information.
He felt something hit his back. "Ow." He mumbled as he turns around to see who threw the ball.
There was nobody to be found within his visual scan. He walked over to the ball and sniffed it.
The scent lead into the lookout. Where Luna and Ryder stood. "Oh...it was you guys." Chase grumbled.
Ryder nodded. "There's a reason for that." He started. Chase perked his ears up ready to do anything Ryder asked.
Ryder cleared his throat. "You need to drop whatever you're working on. That syndicate thing is way to much for you two to handle." Ryder said with a long sigh.
Luna let out a sigh. "I agree."
Chase didn't know what to think of this. "N-no I can't. This could be serious Ryder." Chase pleaded wanting to stay on top of this.
"Yeah, it COULD be serious or it could be a giant waste of time! Don't you see Chase? There's only ONE of these symbols through the ENTIRETY OF ADVENTURE BAY! End of conversation now! You aren't wasting your breathe on this!" Ryder said not realizing he was basically yelling. He had never had Chase oppose a command like this.
Chase grumbled and walked away. "We aren't done here!" Ryder calls out.
He received no reaction from the Shepherd. "That was pretty loud." Rubble said from behind.
Ryder sighed and turned around to see Tracker and Skye standing with him as well. "I don't know what came over me." Ryder replied taking seat and rethinking the moment.
Outside on the bridge Catherine and Arrby were walking back from a date they had. "Ah that was fun." Catherine winked. Arrby agreed knowing what they did. "
They can clearly see Chase angrily stomping out of the lookout. "What do you think happened?" Arrby questions.
Catherine hummed. "Maybe Luna again. She's always pissing off Chase." She chuckled. Arrby nodded.
They got to the lookout door and Arrby opened it. "Ladies first." He smirked.
"Why thank you."
Arrby was a little confused why everyone seemed...slow. "What happened to the party?" He asked.
Ryder lifted his head. "We gotta go! We're gonna be late!" He exclaimed as he jumped up. "Tracker you go get Chase. I need to go tell Carlos and Jake!" Ryder ordered as he ran up the stairs.
The pups stood in confusion as Skye walked out. "Ryder...forgot something?" Ash spoke. Everyone slowly nodded. They've never witnessed Ryder forget anything.
"I think there's something wrong." Rocky said trying to think of it.
"Is he dying?" Tuck joked.
Everyone looked at him with blank faces. "Okay okay maybe to soon." He apologized.
Zuma was kinda on board with that thought "Maybe he is dying. When has he evew fowgot anything?" Zuma asked everyone else.
"Maybe it has to do with Chase." Arrby started.
Catherine nodded. "Yeah, he stomped out pretttty mad." She explained.
Skye felt the need to say what happened. "Well Chase was working on something and Ryder kinda told him not to and Chase wasn't too happy..." she spoke. The room got quiet making Skye feel uncomfortable. "I'm sure they'll be fine. Chase can't stay mad forever...heh" Marshall spoke. "He can't hold grudges or for a fact watch anyone be sad for too long" Marshall added. Everyone took his word for it, for obvious reasons.
Zuma didn't really mind them fighting since stuff like that happens. "So...you let me think that Wyder was dying befowe saying anything? That's low dude." Zuma said with a sigh of disappointment towards Skye.
Just then Chase and Tracker walk into the room. "Took some convincing." He chuckled.
Moments later Ryder, Jake, and Carlos walk down the stairs. Chase let out a comment in an annoyed tone "Great."
Ryder wanted to pretend like nothing happened. "Alrighty, y'all ready to party?!?" Ryder exclaimed. The pups chanted "party!" over and over again. Ryder proudly nodded and lead everyone out the door.
Ryder, Jake, Carlos, Tracker, and Everest all got into Ryder's blue pickup truck. Jake felt like it was best to say something now. "So...up at my mountain Everest isn't the only one helping me out. I have another dog helping me out. His name is Makalu and-
"-you want me to make him an official member of the paw patrol?" Ryder asked finishing his sentence.
Everest nervously listened wanting to see if her considered best friend could become part of the paw patrol.
Jake nodded. He didn't doubt Ryder would say no...He was completely wrong. "I can't, after tomorrow I'm heading back to base c. I'm so sorry but I'm very busy. Like it's 24/7 work." Ryder explained feeling kinda bad.
He can see on the rear view mirror that Everest was quite disappointed. He felt bad but there was nothing he could do.
Then the final nail in the coffin came. "Well do you know any good excuses I could use? I already promised him that I would make this happen and it's a bust." Jake asked. Ryder thought of something to make up.
"*sigh* look, I'll see what I can do. I can't go but-
"Can Skye and Ella come up there?" Everest asked. They were so far he favorites out of the team.
"No, they wouldn't be able to handle it much. I'll send Chase up there with Rocky. They'll know what to do. But you guys have to take good care of them because once they go up they'll have to wait to come back down." Ryder said hoping he's not gonna regret this decision.
Jake and Everest's eyes exploded. "R-really? You'd do that for us?" Everest asked with gleaming eyes.
Ryder felt a little awkward. "Don't push it, Chase will probably be hard on the pup. They'll go when you guys head back." Ryder explained. Everest stopped and nodded.
Jake smiled in happiness. "Thank you." He said as he patted his back. Ryder nodded. He started to think of how he could prepare Chase and Rocky for the trip.
They drove into the town hall parking and parked their vehicles in their designated spots for emergencies. "Alright, Water team and EMT team come with me, you guys head inside." Ryder ordered as he walked around the building.
Everest wanted to give Makalu the best chance at becoming a member, so her plan was to become a suck up. Something she despised very much. It bugged her even more that she had to be suck up to a suck up and a smart jerk.
"Hey Rocky, we haven't talked much since I got here so I thought I'd make some time for us." Everest smiled.
"Don't assume don't assume don't assume." Rocky internally yelled at himself. "Sure." He replied. It wasn't that he found the Husky cute or whatever. He found literally every female pup of the team to be pretty. How could one dog not.
They all walked inside and saw the mayor talking about the save they had a week ago. The room was dark besides the the stage spotlight. "So, who else have you talked with?" Rocky whispered.
"Skye, The twins, Rubble and Ash." Everest replied. Rocky nodded. "Who's after me?" He asked.
"Depends who I run into next." Everest replied.
Their conversation slowly died down as they intently listened to the mayor speak. Far behind them Zuma, Tracker and Rubble messed around near a table. Zuma had completely forgot he had to follow Ryder onto the stage.
Every table had two vases with very nice looking orange tulips and blue wild lupine in each one. Every single one picked out from farmer Umi's flower garden up in the hillside part of Adventure Bay.
Skye trotted over. "What are you guys doing?" She asked looking at Tracker. "Pushing each other." Rubble lowly laughed.
"What?" Chase asked from up front.
Rubble groaned as Zuma knew what came next. "Awwww see what you did? Now we can't play." Zuma complained.
Chase rolled his eyes and looked back at the mayor.
Rubble pushed Zuma across the floor and slid into the nearby table. Tracker noticed the case slowly tipping over. He got up and slid on his stomach hoping he was to late. He closed his eyes and felt the weight of the vase on his paws.
Zuma, Rubble and Skye were thoroughly impressed at Trackers amazing save. "Nice one!" Rubble exclaimed in a whisper.
"Spoke to soon." Zuma quickly whispered as the second case fell off the table.
It let out a loud crash breaking the silence of the the entire town hall and stopping the mayor's speech. Chase snapped his head backwards. "You idiots!" He whispered as he started to pick up as much glass as possible. "Sorry! You can continue!" He exclaims as he glared at Rubble and Zuma. "It's okay." The mayor replied and continued her speech.
Rubble and Zuma started to help Chase pick up their mess. "If you two wanna play go outside." Chase offered as they finished picking up the final pieces. "No we'll just sit down now." Zuma nervously chuckled. Chase nodded and went back to his seat.
"Wow that's embarrassing." Rocky whispered. Everest nodded looking back to see Skye trying again with Tracker. "She's really committing to Tracker huh." Everest mumbled.
Rocky scoffed. "Never seen her as bad as this." He added.
Onto their right was Arrby and Catherine who were sharing kisses. "Really? There's probably people looking at us." Tuck said in a disgusted tone.
Arrby lowly growled at him letting him know he won't stop. Tuck smirked. He wouldn't go down that easily.
Every time they connected muzzles he gagged. At first the two ignored him but when Ella started to gag as well they were annoyed. "You're lucky we're inside." Arrby threatened and sat forward towards the stage and listened.
Tuck and Ella silently high pawed each other. Marshall and Ash watched as Ryder and the others took to the stage.
Marshall was curious to see how Chase would react. When he found him he was surprised to see Chase turned away from the stage. He shrugged and went back to listening.
Ryder cleared his throat. "Last week these pups right here saved the lives of many on the boat. I seemed to have forgotten to bring Skye and Zuma...and the twins up here." Ryder nervously chuckled. "Focus." He mumbled to himself.
He continued. "So...on the way here I had a conversation with two members from Jakes mountain. Meet Jake and Everest! And our new jungle unit Carlos and Tracker!" Ryder said holding his hand out in their direction.
The spotlight moved onto them as the crowd clapped for the 2.
"Ah that's bright." Rocky mumbled as he looked down to save his eyes.
"You won't get used to it." Rubble joked causing Zuma and Marshall to laugh as well. Rocky huffed. (The joke was that Rocky doesn't go on too many mission)
The light moved away and back onto Ryder.
"So on top of the fact that Jake and Everest could POSSIBLY be getting a new member, adventure bay's paw patrol might be gaining one...or two soon. Don't get too excited because it's still unsure." Ryder said as the crowd was close to clapping.
Jake scoffed. "He had time to make time for adding members to his own team but can't take the time to go up the mountain and see for himself." He grumbled.
Chase heard the remark. "So if he's not going how are you recruiting your new member?" He questioned in slight defensive tone.
"He's sending you and Rocky up with us." Jake replied.
Rocky's ears perked when he heard his name. "Snow? Dude this will be fun!" He silently exclaimed and walked over to Chase. "You have to teach me the ropes of recruitment...you know how to recruit right? I sure don't." Rocky added.
Chase nodded knowing he's the only one Ryder taught.
Everest got closer to Jake. "Why would you say that? I'm trying to be nice to Chase and Rocky so Makalu has a better chance and you scoffed? and basically called Ryder egotistical?" Everest whispered in a quite annoyed voice.
Jake looked down and defended his action. "Yeah, how does he have time for everything else but can't come for like 3 days." Jake replied.
Everest scoffed. "Really? He has 3 bases and 36 dogs to manage and you do this? We're lucky he's even sending Chase and Rocky up with us. Not to mention you didn't let him know in advance. Maybe just maybe he would've made time." Everest angrily replied. She desperately wanted her friend to get the paw patrol member title because he desperately wanted it. Not to mention she was sort of crushing on him and it would really help her get into a better spot with him. He had some weird habits but he was funny and sweet.
Jake didn't have a response to Everest. Mainly because she was spot on. "Right, I'll be nicer." He replied embarrassed that he just got out reasoned by his pet.
Rocky took a seat next to Chase. "So what do I need to know? Do we sit in a room and have an interview?" Rocky asked.
Chase shook his head. "We'll be up there for like a week. We watch what he does and since we aren't teachers we have to take his skill and raise the bar slightly. We are also looking how truthful, noble, honorable and just...:.how good his heart is...don't make any jokes about me saying that." Chase explained. Rocky nodded. "Skill and mentality" is all he got from that.
"Should we be hard on him?" Rocky asked.
"No, that could hamper his work ethic, a big red flag is if he denies help when it's obvious he needs it. The paw Patrol isn't a team with us helping each other. If he asks for help then that's a plus. There are other flags I'll explain on the way there."
Rocky nodded. "Are we not gonna mention that Ryder said there might be some new members?" Rocky asked.
"I mean...we have 6 new members already. 2 more won't be that much of a stretch to think about." Chase calmly replied.
"I guess." Rocky mumbled hoping Chase would've had a more interesting opinion on it. Rocky could hear the whispered of the others talking about the topic as well.
The lights turned on and everyone groaned. "Time to partaaaaaaay!" Ryder exclaimed as the crowd chanted. The door opened and revealed that the town hall wasn't the only place to party.
"H-hey, y-you mind if we can get a picture?" Two nervous corgis asked walking up to Chase and Rocky.
"Sure." Chase replied knowing this is pretty often.
"No no we meant with Rocky." One said
Rocky held in a laugh and lowered himself for the picture. The camera flash and they left.
"I don't wanna hear it." Chase grumbled.
The pups split off from each other and went to go see what they had to play and eat.
Rocky's POV
Now here me out, I'm not much of a social type of dog. Yeah I'll butt in here and there because I'm simply smarter than everyone else. When it comes to partying that all Zuma, Ash, Marshall, and the others.
I turned around to see that Chase was gone. "C'mon let's go see what's at the food table." Everest offers. I nod and follow her around for a bit. I pass by some of the pups dancing. I never knew Tuck and Ella could be so synchronized. Well they're twins after all so it shouldn't be that surprising.
When he got there We found Rubble eating a bowl of nachos with Skye and Tracker. I felt bad for the chihuahua since Skye wouldn't leave him alone. "Hold up, I need to help someone." I said to Everest as I walk over to Tracker to give him a heads up. "Tracker, come here." I barked.
"Si! Gracias my friend." He thanks...I think.
"Yeah no problem, I need to know one thing. Do you think Skye is pretty in any shape or form?" Rocky asked.
Tracker thought about it for a second. "Sí but really...all the chicas in the paw patrol are pretty." Tracker admitted.
I was glad to hear that he wasn't the only one who thought they all had some good looks. "That's what I think as well. Well Skye seems to be into man. I don't know what you could possibly do with this information but hey, now you know." I explained and pat his back. I wave towards Rubble and head back with Everest. "I decided to give him a heads up so he's not lost." I said.
"That sweet, what do you plan on doing till what? It ends at 12?" Everest asked.
"Depends what pops up, I'm not much of a social guy." I informed. I don't know why but I just have a hard time talking to complete strangers. It bugs me, the thought of embarrassment is scary.
"Whaaaat! No way! You're always so loud, mean and annoying at the lookout. So far since I've been there." Everest said with a bright smile.
I smiled back...I didn't think most of those were compliments though. "Not sure." I replied as I grab some dog treats.
I could see Everest's mouth moving but nothing came out, didn't realize the music was so loud.
I motion Everest to follow me as I head for the back doors. A laugh almost spilled out when they started playing the duck song.
Once we left the town hall we were in a big field where things weren't too different. The music was much quieter but the crowds were bigger. Me and Everest sat down and started to talk. Just then Tuck and Rubble walked by carrying a bucket of fruit punch. "What are you guys doing?" I asked.
"Zuma wants to chug this! No way he can drink this!" Tuck exclaimed. I curiously follow them into the crowd where Zuma was.
"BWING IT BOYS!" He yelled.
They put the bucket down and gave Zuma a straw. He smacked it out of their hands and dumped his head inside of it.
What is he thinking? There's no way he can drink all of this. It's like 35 gallons worth of juice and sugar. I watched in awe as Zuma started to drink the dyed water. We sat there for 30 minutes cheering on Zuma.
"DUMP IT ON ME!" He ordered. The crowd picked up the juice and dropped all of it on Zuma. "WOOOOOO" yelled as he headed towards the pool.
I walked away and sighed. That's not going to look good on him for awhile.
I sat back with Everest who was now talking to Ella since Tuck went with Zuma and Rubble. "Zuma started chugging juice and then dumped it on himself." I laughed. It was pretty amusing to think of the after math.
"He what now?" Ella asked.
"You heard me, he's in the pool right now." I said.
Ella chuckled. "Crazy guy..." she said with a long sigh and looked at basically nothing. I was going to ask her until We heard a loud bang and the crowd cheer soon after. "What is he doing?" Everest asks in confusion.
"Not sure but he'll be out before you know it." I chuckled.
30 minutes later
Ash's POV
I looked at the clock and it read 5:34. The past hour felt way to short. Marshall was at my side the entire time making sure I don't have another breakdown. I tried convincing him I'll be fine and he can go party but he gave me some surprisingly smart answer every time. "Alright everyone! We'll have our first party game! If you could all move away from the circle please, right where that guy in the blue shirt is standing." Mayor goodway exclaimed. The crowd started to disperse. "Alright! Can we get all of our paw patrol member in this circle?" The mayor asked.
Marshall grabbed my paw and dragged me towards the circle where Chase, Skye, Tracker, Arrby and Catherine stood. Seconds later Rocky, Everest and Ella joined us. "Hello." I greeted.
They waved. "Tuck? Rubble? Zuma?" The mayor called out.
Zuma walked through the crowd all wet and damp with a hint of red all over his fur. The first to see him was Chase because something was clearly off. We could see them whispering before Chase nods and walks back to us. "You smell like Fruit punch!" Rocky laughed.
I always thought he had a weird laugh. It is quite unusual. Tuck and Rubble joined us and the mayor started. "Before we do the public game I would like to let the paw patrol have the first game of the day and the rest of the day!" She said.
She continued. "So I'm sure you all know of duck duck goose. You know the drill."
We all sat in a circle. "Chant who goes first!" The mayor exclaimed.
A mix of all the names were shot out but the most audible names were Skye and Marshall of course. Slowly but surely Skye over took Marshall's name.
I rolled my eyes knowing she would pick Tracker.
I sat correct as the first circle she tapped Tracker and ran around the circle.
Skye fortunately made it back and Tracker was up. He seemed to be playing to win because he picked Rubble.
After that round I felt bad for the bull dog. He wasn't any good and anything speed related and that's how most sports are. Strength was his...strength.
Marshall and Chase sat back watched knowing they wouldn't get picked since they are undoubtedly the fastest on the team along with Luna. After a couple of rounds Rocky gets his 3rd chance and we lock eyes as he goes around in circles. Nobody has gotten out yet.
I get ready to get up when he passes by. "Goose!" He shouted as he taps my head. I got up surprisingly fast even for me. The circle was pretty large since we spread it out. I just caught up to the mix breed who let out an "awwe
I felt bad for Marshall. I knew picking him was a dumb idea but I'll do it anyway.
"Duck...duck...duck...goose!" I exclaimed and run off. I didn't get very far at all before getting tagged.
I step over where Rocky and Rubble stood. "That was very dumb." Rocky said.
I shrugged as Marshall picked Zuma. Every step he took he left water and juice marks on the floor.
Rocky let out a loud sigh. "He's going to pick Chase." He mumbled and pawed his face. He was right but when Chase tagged him he slid across the floor with his wet body.
Then some very unlucky thing fall soon Chase. He picked Tuck and when passing by where he tagged Zuma he slid on Zuma's skid mark and was quickly tagged by Tuck causing him to get out. "Of course that would happen to me." He huffed and watched the game finish.
After about 10 more minutes of close calls it was down to Arrby and Tuck. Arrby sat on one side of the diameter and Tuck sat on the opposite side. The way it worked was they would run counter clockwise until one caught up from behind and tagged them.
Everyone said go simultaneously and they started. From the begging it was evident that Tuck's longer legs paid off. Soon enough tag got Arrby with quite a stunning dive.
"Tuck is our first winner!" The mayor exclaimed. "Now we'll have you guys play!" She said. Some people stayed to play and some people went back to partying.
"That was fun." Marshall said.
I nodded. "Yep, it's funny how we're almost the same height. I'm the same height as Chase." I said slightly looking up at him.
He laughed. "You make Everest look small." He joked.
"Oh shut up. I'm barely shorter than Chase." Everest said from behind. "Sorry!" Marshall exclaimed.
"That went bad." He whispered with a quiet giggle.
I giggled. He looks at my face and just stares at it like he's downloading it. His head slowly tilts left and right. "Marshall!" I exclaimed.
He jumped and shook his head. "Wow what was that..." he mumbled looking down in embarrassment. I nodded suspiciously before deciding it was best to shrug it off.
2 hours later
Skye finally got onto Tracker's comfortable side. "Wanna head outside?" She asks.
Tracker nodded in agreement.
Once they enter the outside they could see the sun slowly setting. They heard a thud and saw Zuma unconscious on the floor. "Wow...he is messed up." Skye said getting tempted to throw something at him to see if it has any effect. They sat next to the unconscious lab to make sure nothing bad happened while he's crashed.
Tracker let out an unnecessary cough. "I get the feeling you like me." He said. Skye didn't expect this question.
"Well..." Skye started.
Tracker wasn't one to sugar coat anything. "It won't work, look at where we are. You work in a city in California and I work in Brazil. We are two continents apart and I can guarantee you that next time I come over will not be soon." Tracker said explaining the situation hard and cold. "I can wait." Skye innocently replied.
Tracker thought of the idea. He wasn't sure how loyal Skye was to her word. "I'll think about it." He replied. He was curious to see it she was lying or not. He would have to ask the other pups to see if she was an honest pup.
Chase sat in a corner listening to the music. He didn't notice his head was slightly moving to the music. His mind drifted off onto thing about the thing Zuma informed him about. Horrible scenarios of the PAW Patrol ending in all kinds of ways flashed through this head. He jumped up from his thought when he tripped in his day dream.
From a distance Everest and Rocky watched. They could see Chase gasp and jolt up. It looked like he was breathing a little heavier than normal. "What do you think happened?" Rocky asked.
Everest shrugged as Chase exited the building. The music suddenly stopped and the crowd was yelling and screaming. Everest and Rocky ran to the middle to see multiple men fighting while one held a beer.
Very soon after the mayors voice took over the room "make way people! Make way! The police are here! Party is canceled!" She exclaimed.
Everest was shoved out of the way by. 4 officers with tasers armed to zap 3 brawling men.
The Everest and Rocky squinted their eyes at the painful sound of the taser connecting to their bodies. They all groaned loudly and fell stiff.
The cops dragged them out as people went to their cars to avoid being dragged into something they didn't want to be in. "I can't believe they brought beer in here." The mayor mumbled not realizing she was still on the mic.
They PAW Patrol regrouped at their vehicles. "What happened to him?" Ryder asked as Rubble and Tuck dragged him out.
"Su-sugar crash." Tuck groaned as he pulled Zuma. He was surprisingly heavy for the two pups. "Ella? Mine taking Zuma's vehicle back? Ryder asked. She. Nodded.
"Chase, get us going." Ryder ordered. He completely forgot about their little dispute earlier but Chase seemed to remember it and still took it personally. Rolled his eyes and walked past without his signature "yes sir" or "yes Ryder sir"
The pups were still perfectly awake. "That sucks, only like 6 hours of partying." Marshall complained.
Ryder nodded in agreement. "Next time we'll have security" Ryder promised.
The pups entered their vehicles and headed back home.
Luna opened the door for them as they all flooded in. Zuma struggled to get up before silently making gagging noises. "He's going to throw up." Tracker randomly says.
Everyone looked at him in confusion. Chase perked his ears and leaned in and could hear the faint sound of the regurgitation. "He's is gonna throw up." Chase confirmed. He was surprised Tracker could hear him from across the room.
Ryder rushed over and picked up Zuma carefully. He dropped him outside. Most of the pups walked away not wanting to see the horrific sight of vomit.
"You'd make a great Tracker, like tracking someone down." Chase complimented.
"Well...that's sorta my name amigo." Tracker stated with a laugh.
Chase felt a little embarrassed from his reply. "Yeah but in the city there are not footsteps. I'm just saying your ears and my nose would make an amazing duo." Chase suggested.
Tracker nodded with a yawn. Most of the pups headed off to bed because there was nothing else to do since they had no plans.
Everest felt like she's got on Rocky's very good side at this point. She didn't want to risk anything with Chase so she decided to just leave him be.
Ryder pulled some lavender bed sheets over his body and turned off his desk lamp. He starred into the darkness thinking about how he could fix up his mess with Chase. He thought of something his dad said when him and his wife were in a tough spot. They took an extensive break from each other with Ryder jumping back and forth. When they got back together his father said "Time...Time is a natural healer." He started to plan out a day where he could leave the pups alone for the entire day. Maybe 3 days. They'll be sure to get used to each other. Ryder liked the idea since they desperately needed to be nicer to each other. He was also told "only the strongest people have the will to forgive" He was very fond of that one as well.
One by one the lookouts lights shut off. Soon the true functionality of the lookout was activated. Not only was it a base but it severed as an actual lookout to help guide boats to the dock during night. Paired with Rocky's coding and Ryder's tech it didn't need someone to man it. It was also self sustainable. It could go an expected 4 years without direct power from the city. If you didn't use any lights at all it could run forever with Ryder's modified solar panels. (As long as there's a sun) Ryder had many plans for the lookouts, mainly safety measures like a self sustained bomb shelter in case of emergency. Ideas like that were often reality since Rocky and Rubble were perfect for the job of reconstruction.
Ryder sighed and paused his mind for tomorrow. He closed his eyes and fell into this beautiful thing called sleep.
just a reminder Chapter 5 is up as you read this so go check it out since you're already here. If you want, I'm not your mom but see you in the next one.
