This is the chapter where things go down! I didn't see a reason to stretch this out any longer than it needed to. I can only see this story having another ten chapters max. I don't want it to get repetitive at all. Besides that hope y'all enjoy!
It had been two weeks since Chase and Rocky's arrival back home. The exciting days seemed to be done and over with since there was nothing planned...so far.
Chase sat in his pup house. Still he had Everest in his head. The venting idea she told him about was really useful but Marshall hasn't been around too much.
Chase sat up and eyed the un opened box Everest handed him two week ago. It was red with little engravings on them. A neat yellow blow tie lied at the top.
He reaches it and carefully unravels it. He pulls off the lid. Inside were 2 items. A small blue crystal and a piece of paper.
I found this pretty nice look gem thing in the cave. I was going to offer it to you to be nice but you clearly didn't want that at the time. While we were in the cave you really grew on me. I would say I have a slight crush on you but you probably don't know what that means. So to put it straight, I like you. Weird I know. Just take this as nothing that important. It'll suck saying goodbye but you got a pretty important job now.
Yours Truly, Everest
Chase huffed and laid back. "Damnit damnit damnit! Of course Jake walked in." He sighed.
He heard knocking on the door. It was a distinct pattern from the usual 3 knocks. It was a little extra that he and Marshall came up with. "Come in!"
The door opened and Marshall stood there with a bright smile on his face. "What's so happy about today?" Chase asked.
Marshall looked at Chases paper. "I think! We're getting a new member! My question is what is that?"
Chase looked at and then looked at Marshall. "Gift from Everest. I wonder what Rocky got." Chase replied. Chase huffed, he couldn't care less if they got any new members.
Marshall nodded. He wasn't gonna try to get anything from Chase.
Marshall turned to leave. "Wait"
Marshall turned to see what Chase had to say. "Don't tell anyone I told you this. Maybe Rocky. Look when we were up there me and Everest spent a lot of time in a cave. She sorta got us in there and I had to kill a bobcat twice but! We got to know each other. And y-
Marshall's face was completely blank. Suddenly it turned into excitement. "And you guys kissed? That GREAT! You're finally moving up in life! Boring old leader to boring old leader with an exciting girlfriend!"
Chase made a sizzle noise and tilted his head side to side. "Wellllll, you see. We were like a couple inches away from kissing. Jake walked in so we pretended like nothing happened. Then I left and now I'm here."
Marshall rubbed his chin. "Maybe just get it next time."
"That's what I said!" Chase exclaimed as he got up in excitement. Cough cough "I'm not sure what that was." Chase said.
Rocky scanned through his computer. "What? Where are they?" He said as he looked at his computer.
Zuma walked in with a grin on his face. "Looking for the pown hub files?" He joked as he tried not to laugh.
"What did you do!" Rocky said as he hit his head on the table.
Zuma quit his jokey attitude once he saw that." I didn't touch anything! Why? what happened?"
Rocky paused for a good 10 seconds. "Everything happened. It's all gone..." Rocky felt his heart pinch at the thought of tons of data gone.
Zuma didn't know what to say. "If it makes you feel any better...Wyder is recruiting a new membew! It's gonna be a newd like you as well" Zuma informs before heading down the stairs. "I'll be down right now...just, just let me process this." Rocky mumbled.
Zuma couldn't help pup feel bad. He turned to walked down the stairs but Rocky joined him with a smile on his face. "Ovew it alweady?" Zuma asks.
Rocky smiled some more. "I have a photographic memory! I already remember all of that."
Zuma raised an eyebrow. "You? Having photographic memory?" Zuma says as he snickers.
Rocky rolled his eyes as they entered the living room.
The pups relaxed in the living room watching some simple Apollo the super dog. The TV screen changed and projected a live video call from Ryder himself. "Ryder sir!" Chase said being the first one to stand up.
"I have an assignment for each of you. It'll be very fun. Upstairs I set up a camera, black curtains, and sound proof barriers. In this order Police Unit, fire unit, EMT unit, water unit, then Rocky, Skye, And Rubble. You will record yourselves for the future. Something to remember the paw patrol by. Take as long as you want because nobody will see them. Unless everyone agrees on it. I won't so it doesn't really matter."
Everyone nodded their head and looked at each other. "See you in 4 hours with our new recruits." Ryder said before hanging up.
Chase was the first to head upstairs, Luna sat and kept an eye on Rocky and Marshall. "How was the new guy up in the mountains?" Marshall asked.
Rocky rolled his eyes and fell back. "Tell me about it! He easily got jealous of Chase, emotionally annoying, huge jerk but his pros outweigh the cons." Rocky complained.
Marshall couldn't imagine living with someone like that.
After about 2 and a half hours everyone was finished with their videos. They sat around for another 30 ish minutes when Ryder showed up. "Ryder is outside! Pickup!" Rubble yelled.
Most of the pups cleaned up the cups, wrappers, and wiped off the crumbs of things. They scrambled to their places in line. "Ready for action Ryder sir!"
Ryder nodded. He moved out of the way to reveal 2 dogs. A while pit bull with black spots and brown and white Australian Shepherd.
Some of the members gulped at the sight of the pit bull. Some of them stood stiff. "Pups, meet Linus and Freya. Linus will be a secondary construction pup and Freya will be another set of brains for like Rocky.
"Hello!" Freya happily said.
The pups waved back and waited for Linus' answer. A cold voice broke the awkwardness. "Hello Linus." Luna spoke.
Linus looked around with weak and shaky eyes.. "Hi! I'm thankful I'm here. Honestly this job could've gone to anyone else but I'm lucky enough to recive it." He awkwardly says
"Welcome!" Chase said holding his paw out.
Linus quickly accepts it.
Marshall and Rocky nervously look at each other hoping they thought the exact same thing. "Rubble, show Linus how our gadgets work. Some of you guys can go with him to. Rocky, take Freya and show her your gear and how to use it."
Rocky nodded.
Rocky led Marshall and Freya outside. "Can you give us a quick minute?" Rocky asked.
She willingly nodded and Rocky pulled Marshall into a huddle. "We both saw how Linus clearly was afraid of Luna right?" Rocky asked.
"Exactly! Something is up. Some of the pups don't even seem phased! I don't want to think about it but do you think the paw patrol is-
"What is the paw patrol?" Freya cuts them off as she plays with her pup pack.
Marshall felt his heart sink. He made up his answer as he went. "Some of the Paw...patrol...is...emotionnnnnn...less."
Freya nodded. "So how do I use this?"
Rocky stepped forward as Marshall watched. He quickly looked back and forth to see if anyone was watching. "I'm gonna go find Chase. He'll know what to do." He mumbled.
Luna trotted over to Ryder and Chase. "Hello Sir! I was wondering since we have new members we can do some...how do you say it. Like a getaway. Separately."
Ryder nodded and leaned in to hear what she has to say. "Go on." He urged.
Luna coughed. "Since we are quite a large team I was thinking we can split the team in half-ish." Ryder pulled out a notepad to keep track of the idea.
"I was thinking. Chase, Rocky, Marshall, Arrby and Catherine, Makalu and the two new recruits can go on a trip. When they get back me and the other half can go on a different trip"
Ryder thought about it. "Makalu?" Chase asked.
"I mean he's part of the paw patrol now. Might as well have him meet some of us" Luna replied.
Chase looked at Ryder's paper. It had the mentioned names and places they could go. "How does barkingburg sound?" Ryder asked.
"Also, I was thinking it would be more beneficial if you didn't come. I think it would be a more raw experience." Luna added.
Ryder's facial expression died down. He mumbled to himself before speaking up. "I see. When do you want to do this?"
Chase thought about the people coming. Half of them were his good friends and the other half probably despised him in some way. The new recruits were gonna get a shit show.
"As early as you can. While they are still getting to know everyone." Luna asked.
"Right then, Robo dog can take y'all to barkingburg. Be there for a couple of weeks and hangout. Comeback and the other half will head somewhere. That sound good?" Ryder mumbled as he tapped his pen on his chin.
Marshall quickly walked into the room and saw the trio talking. He waved at Chase.
Chase simply waved back at him.
Marshall rolled his eyes and motioned Chase to walk over to. Chase slowly trotted over. "I guess we're gonna go on a trip." Chase said
Marshall raised an eyebrow. "Huh?"
"We're going on a trip with stage new recruits."
Marshall felt as if the world was gonna collapse. He quickly looked around to make sure no one was listening. "I think something bad is happening. Did you see how Luna clearly dominated uhhh Linus. They clearly have background knowledge of each other."
"You sure? Like positive?" Chase asked, he took Marshall 100% serious since joking around about dominance bugged the dally for some reason.
Marshall nodded. "Rocky also knows."
Chase took note of the info and their schedule. "Look, while on our trip we can talk about it. No Ryder and No Luna." He offered.
Marshall nodded.
Marshall walked outside to see Rocky and Freya laughing their asses off. "What's so funny?" Marshall asked.
The duo let out an extended sigh. "Nothing." Rocky snickered. "I heard we're going on a trip in a couple of days." Marshall commented.
"Am I going?" Freya asked.
Marshall nodded. "Some others are going as well. It'll be a long flight. We're going to Barkingburg. Ryder says he has connections with the princess there." Marshall explained as he looked at the two. Rocky had a nervous facial expression while Freya seemed to question some thing. "I'll be right back, I need to check in with Luna. She's like the boss right?"
Rocky shook his head. "Not really, Chase and Ryder are the boss." He watched as Freya made a sizzle noise.
"Yeah but Chase seems really stuck up. I'm just gonna ask Luna." She said throwing Rocky's statement out the window.
Rocky and Marshall looked at each other. Marshall put a paw on Rocky's shoulder. "Freya and Linus definitely have a background with Luna, it's up to us to find it out." Marshall explained
Rocky nodded. "We can learn a lot while on the plane. Just by watching" Marshall added.
Rocky nervously smiled. "I sorta wanted to do something while we are at the palace in barkingburg. Not do but get to know someone." Rocky replied nervously looking at Marshall for a reply. "Fine, I'll do it solo. Do you have something for Freya? Who you trying to get to know?"
Rocky smirked. "You don't need to know."
2 weeks later
Freya and Linus warmed up to their new job, home and friends. So have the pups. They figured that Linus can be very cold and depressing at times but that's because he was a fighting dog. They felt bad for him but he said multiple times not to worry about it.
Freya, Rubble, Linus, Luna, Arrby, Catherine, Chase, Rocky and Marshall walk into the air patroller. At the front seat was a fully completed Robo dog. The addition of Freya had made it much easier for Ryder and Rocky. Chase looked in his pup pack and saw the usual items. Compressed net, med kit, batteries for his flashlight and other items. One that caught his eye was the crystal Everest gave him. He doesn't remember putting that in there.
Rocky dusted off his pup pack. "Wow this hasn't been used in forever." He mumbled. In it was the green powder that him and Chase used a couple months ago. He had a more complex med kit in his pup pack. He had items for stitching a wound, cauterizing a wound, and pain killers. Tuck and Ella decided to show him how to use it since he never had to do anything.
Marshall didn't bother to open his pup pack. It wasn't his usual one with a water gun. He had his EMT gear since he needed a water source for that. Along with the EMT gear he got to wear his hat.
Rocky starred at his hat. "You okay?" Marshall asked.
Chase joined them. "Rocky has a thing for hats." Chase explained as he put a green hat on Rocky's head. They all had different hat shape. Chase had the biggest while Marshall and Rocky both have a flatter had. Part of Rocky's is a function not even he knew about. It had some mechanical parts to it.
"Alright pups, see you in two weeks! Get to know each other well and don't make a mess or destroy anything!" Ryder said as the hanger door raised.
They all sat down.
The plane raised and took off causing some of the members to feel nauseous. "I think I'm gonna throw up." Rubble said.
Rocky and Chase had gotten used to it. "Just wait till we stop at Jake's." Chase said.
Rubble made all kinds of faces as he forced it back down his stomach.
The chattering stopped as they felt the plane suddenly slow down. They all looked to Rubble who had his eyes closed.
They waited 5 minutes before the hanger door started to drop.
Rubble got up and ran to the door. They could hear the gags from Rubble. Freya and Catherine gagged as well. "Can we calm down? Then everyone is gonna want to start throwing up." Rocky said.
Everyone stopped.
Chase, Rocky, and Luna got up to get Makalu. "He might be a little...rude." Chase informed.
They walked down to see Jake, Everest and Makalu waiting for them. Chase saw Everest's eyes light up while Makalu seemed annoyed to be in their presence.
"Makalu! Let's go we're on a schedule!" Luna exclaimed. Makalu walked over to them glaring at Chase the entire way.
Chase ignored his and walked straight past to Jake and Everest. "Sirrrr can I call you sir or do I call you Jake." Chase said as he held out his paw.
"Call me whatever you feel like. Is Ryder in there? I need to talk to him." Jake asked.
"No but you can call him. Robo dog can help you." Chase informed.
Jake nodded and left Chase and Everest alone. "Well then, I wouldn't say this is the perfect next time." Chase jokes.
Everest nodded. "Yep, did you read the note?" She asked as she looks down to hide her face.
Chase reminded himself of it. "Definitely did." He smiled.
"Chase! Let's go!" Luna called out.
Everest quickly leans in and gave him a quick kisses him on the muzzle. "So you don't forget, to a better next time."
"A better next time."
Chase walked back with a huge grin stretched across his face. He takes his seat and falls asleep.
"What's happening!?!" A voice called out.
Chase woke up to feel the air patroller rumbling and shaking at the pups scream and yell. There was a red flashing light and sirens going off indicating that somethings is wrong.
Rocky quickly stands up and runs to Robo dog. "Location!" Rocky exclaimed.
"We are in the center of Germany." Robo dog calmly replied.
They all hit the roof as the plane starts to nose dive. Rocky watched as Robo dog starts a solution to fix it. Marshall and Rubble are yelling their asses off but the others are as quiet as a mouse.
They finally hit the floor. Rocky goes back to see that they are still losing losing altitude and quick. "We're gonna crash!" Rocky exclaimed as he braces for impact.
A loud bang can be heard before everything goes black.
Rocky wakes up. His head hurt like hell. He felt and when he brings his paw back down there's blood all over it. He sees Marshall and Chase both unconscious.
He quickly shakes them both. He could see that Chase seems fine but Marshall has a huge gash from a broken piece of metal.
They both groan. Rocky helps Marshall up and to exit the plane leaving Chase to figure things out on his own.
He looks at their surroundings to see nothing but a river, lake and a bunch of trees. The second they step out he gets blind sided by something. They both fall over a Rocky gasps for air. He watched as Linus and Rubble drag Marshall away.
Catherine and Arrby grab Rocky by his back legs. "H-help...I- I need water." Rocky coughs out.
Yelling came from behind.
He could see the blurry image of Chase fighting with what seemed to be Luna and Makalu. Rocky could feel himself losing consciousness.
He gave one last attempt to speak as everything went black.
Chase looked his attackers in the eyes. "You sons of bitches let go of me." He grunted.
"You should've been smarter before hooking up with Everest." Makalu says.
"What? Are you this jealous?!?"
Makalu turns around beats the defenseless Chase until he's out.
Luna and Makalu silently drag them. They catch up with the other. "We can see our plan into action now." Luna mumbled as she drops Chase next to Rocky and Marshall.
"We're just gonna leave them here?" Catherine asks.
Luna nodded. "They can't get back to the bay. Luckiest they'll get is a tribe that doesn't even speak their language." She replied.
She leads the group back to the torn up Air Patroller. They take their time bandaging each other up and practicing their alibi and getting the story straight.
The air patroller starts to let out loud beeping. "That's the beacon."
After about 30 minutes later a rescuer helicopter shows up and escorts the backstabbers out. "Mission complete." Makalu cockily says.
Luna rolls her eyes at the arrogant comment. "To be fair you were beating Chase at a game he wasn't playing. If you catch my drift." Freya pointed out.
Makalu opened his mouth and nothing came out. He froze for a little longer before speaking. "He agreed to play when he stole Everest from me." Makalu smirked.
Freya felt like slapping him across the head. "You've gotta be kidding me. It's not like he tried to. He's number one and there's nothing you could do about him...besides sabotaging the plane and using a group to kill him and his other friends." Freya said.
"Sucks Rocky had to go." Rubble sighed.
Catherine and Arrby watch the crashed plane shrink smaller to the point where the smoke was difficult to see. "Get your sad faces on. This'll be a rough couple of weeks." Luna said.
Just like that Chase, Marshall and Rocky are out of their picture. We're still in the trios picture. Like I said the chapters will be getting shorter because I said so.
