*ALRIGHT ANOTHER CHAP HOPE YOU ENJOY*
The previous day took a lot out of our survivors, so they got their utmost deserved rest. Except for one. Well, maybe two. Will did want to get some rest but he couldn't shake the feeling of tensity and nervousness from the previous day they had. It was so much to take in, from the horde attacks to the Witch and Screamer encounters, to pretty much their entire stay in Germany so far.
As everyone, except Will, already settled down for the night, Luke grabbed his jacket and started heading towards a nearby bridge that had an underpass. He used to love crossing roofs and parkouring over subways and train/bus stations. He made his way towards a nearby ventilation system on top of a roof with a clear view of the trainway, but what he saw made his eyes widen with excitement and confusion at the same time.
...
An actual train rode over the trainway.
Luke immediately grabbed his walkie-talkie and dialled up Will, who he noticed was the only one who wasn't sleeping when he left.
Will picked up.
"WILL! AN ACTUAL FUCKING TRAIN!"
Will took a second to react, but he heard the noises a train would make while crossing a bridge, as well as the iconic horn that trains have, especially in Germany. He got up and ran over to the edge of the building which was actually in viewing distance of the trainway.
"Oh, yeah...YEAH...wait, are those actual survivors?" Will asked in a bit of a confused tone since the group took the last train from Spain over to Germany, so this train had to have come from somewhere else.
"I'm not sure, but this is a good sign, it's always nice knowing others people are alive. However, they could just be some kind of bandits, like the ones we killed in the store today." Luke jumped back and walked towards the edge of the roof where the train was headed.
"Good shout, I think I saw some posters about a train station somewhat nearby as we were exploring the streets." Will turned his gaze towards the train, but the train faded into a tunnel, only to be heard by the survivors.
"It could be a nice way to grab ourselves an escape vehicle. Just like we did in Spain." Luke started walking in the direction back towards the office building rooftop.
"Do you think it's worth checking it out now, or in the morning?"
"We got bruised up very badly today, let's let the group get some rest, we'll check it out in the morning. If it is too dangerous, however, we'll have to take over the train station at night. I'll let you know when I get back."
"Alright, have a safe trip back."
"Will..." Both Luke and Will paused for a moment. "Get some rest. Don't worry about guarding tonight, I'll take care of that."
"You sure?"
"Yeah. Make sure to be up and ready for if we do end up departing towards the station, but for now, you can relax." Luke jumped from building to building, successfully traversing their rooftops.
"Alright, thanks, have a nice rest."
"You too, Sarge." Luke hung up and continued making his way back.
...
The night passed and our survivors started waking up. Daniel woke up and after stretching noticed Luka half-asleep laying down on the edge of the building.
"You were up all night, weren't you, bro." Daniel yawned and asked.
"It is what it is, Daniel. I'm fine." Luke got up rather quickly and started stretching himself. "Let's go for a warmup run."
Daniel smirked from ear to ear.
Both of the survivors left their essentials on the building rooftop, except their walkie-talkies.
"Alright, let's make a lap around the neighbourhood, from building to building. What was the last time you went parkouring?" Luke asked whilst taking off his jacket.
"I don't know, to be honest. A few months ago, maybe." Daniel got done preparing too.
"Welp, let's see how rusty you've gotten. Three, two, one."
Luke backed up a few steps to get a good run-up and leapt to another building. Daniel followed after taking a deep breath.
After a few buildings were traversed, both survivors showed a little tiredness.
"Not as bad as I thought you'd gotten, Dan!" Luke shouted whilst climbing pipes and ventilation shafts.
"Well, you know me, stamina is always on point," Daniel said as he quickly followed Luke up the next building.
Daniel caught up to Luke and they were running side by side until Daniel noticed a pretty large gap between the building they were running on and the next one.
The only hope of jumping on the other side would have been to grasp onto the fire escape staircase.
Daniel slowed down, but Luka didn't.
"Luka, you better not!" Daniel shouted as he hesitated to slow down.
"I haven't been slacking, Daniel!" Luke took the biggest run-up and leap he could have.
He slammed into the fire escape full force, but he grabbed the edge of the staircase, barely holding on.
Daniel barely managed to stop himself before he flew off the edge of the building.
"YOU FUCKIN' PRICK!" Daniel yelled understandably.
Luke held up a peace sign with his other hand.
After a few minutes, they made it back to the same building.
"You're an idiot, but you were right, you definitely haven't been slacking off." Luke smiled at that.
Daniel smacked Luka's back.
"Do NOT do that again, dumbass! Wipe that shitty ass grin off your face." Luke stumbled back and yelped in pain. "Let's head back."
Both the survivors started running back towards the group.
...
They eventually made it back and pretty much the whole group was starting to wake up.
"Everyone, time to wake up!" Luke grabbed his jacket. "I'll give you a few minutes, but we have an important thing to discuss, so hurry up!"
A few slow minutes passed and everyone was up.
"Good. Everyone, listen. Will and I heard and saw a train heading across that trainway into the tunnel up the hill." Luke pointed at the trainway not too far from them. "We're hoping they are friendlies, but considering the bandits we saw earlier, I'm not really in the mood to test my chances. We're going to raid the train station tonight. We just gotta loot the neighbourhood for any supplies since we're kinda low after yesterday's attack. Any ammo stashes, throwables or supplies, in general, are welcome. Grab your things and let's get off this building."
And so, they did. They grabbed everything and made their way off the building. There were a few stores and apartments around, so the group had a lot to search through.
Aiko, Jose and Daniel were tasked to locate supplies in the apartments, and Luke and Will decided to search the stores and warehouses.
Luke and Will walked up to an entrance of a warehouse.
"We shouldn't have to worry about any infected, right? I mean, we pretty much eliminated every infected within a kilometre at least." Will turned to Luke and asked curiously.
"Usually, I'd be a bit more careful, since infected can easily lose their sense of hearing or sight, making them pretty much stuck in a confined, dark and quiet area like a warehouse. So, let's lookout for them, but yeah, we're pretty much okay." Luke said as he grabbed the huge warehouse door.
"Give me a hand, would you?" Luke asked.
"Right," Will responded and quickly grabbed the door alongside Luke.
"One, two, three," Luke said as the two men lifted the door up.
Luke drew both of his Desert Eagles and turned their torches on. Will did the same, but with his AK-47.
They shone their torches throughout the huge warehouse, across all sides of it. No sign of the infected so far.
"Alright, there are three aisles. You take left, I'll take right, we'll meet in the middle at the end of the lanes." Luke whispered to Will.
Will nodded in agreement and diverted his gaze towards the left aisle.
Both men started walking into the aisles. After a good few dozen meters, nothing happened and there were no signs of the infected around.
Luke managed to find a few ammo packs around, but nothing much other than that. Will didn't come up with anything special, either. They quickly made it to the end of the aisles.
"Just a bunch of ammo dumps," Will informed Luke.
"Same here, nothing special." Luke looked towards the back door.
"That back door is heavily reinforced, and I honestly do not have the patience to waste my time with it."
"Understandable, let's ditch this place." Both of the survivors started walking towards the way they came. "Aiko talked the group about you guys. Sad to hear it, but I'm glad it's over. We need to focus on survival, no other distractions."
"That was my thought process while ending things with her. Thanks for understanding." Luke patted Will on the shoulder.
Will put his gun on his shoulder and firmly nodded as a sign of respect.
...
"You guys broke up?" Daniel asked surprisingly.
"Could you even call it a relationship?" Aiko asked with a bit of a tone in her voice.
"Fair. Well, unfortunate, but hey, we move." Daniel said as he turned around to search another apartment. "All we've found so far is ammo and a few medical supplies. All that should come in handy, let's dip."
The three survivors walked down the stairs to the ground floor, near the front door, where Luke and Will were already waiting for them.
They packed everything they got from both the buildings and were ready to set out.
"Good find, guys. Let's cook up a strategy for infiltrating the train station."
Luke said as the survivors sat down on some benches in the apartment lobby.
...
Fast forward to nighttime. Our survivors were preparing on a nearby hill overlooking the entire train station. Aiko laid down on top of the hill, taking the sniper position. The guys slid down the hill and carefully snuck through a few hiding places, eventually walking up to the trainyard fence. Daniel and Luka walked in first, keeping to the shadows of the trainyard.
Will and Jose stayed one position behind them, so they would move forward when Luke and Daniel moved another position forward.
Aiko started transmitting her voice through to the other survivors.
"Okay, there's two guys close to Luke and Dan, to the left of the container that you're hiding behind."
"Roger. Daniel, take the right one." Luka whispered. "On three...one, two, three."
Luke grabbed the left guy, Daniel grabbed the right guy. They knocked them both out in the shadows. Killing them would be a risk, in case they were good guys and not bandits. They moved up one position closer to a train ready to set out to Croatia. Jose and Will moved up to Daniel and Luke's previous position.
"What a coincidence, eh?" Daniel whispered to Luke.
Luka's eyes widened as he noticed the name of the city the train was departing to.
Osijek. Luka's hometown.
"Too perfect of a coincidence, but I'll take it."
Aiko's voice was heard again. "Another two guys, right upfront."
"I see them, but they're out in the open." Luke let the other survivors know.
"There's nobody else around until you make it to the inside of the train station. There are another two guys there, and then we're done. You can take them out." Aiko reassured Luke that it was safe.
"Alright. Jose..." Luke started talking to Jose and Jose turned his attention to his walkie-talkie. "I need you to shoot an arrow near one of them, a bullet will be too loud for us to go unnoticed, but wait for us to get around them."
"Alright, whenever you're ready, signal me. I will shoot to their right."
Daniel and Luka slowly got into position. After half a minute, they were ready.
"Alright, Jose, you're good to go."
"Okay, I will shoot in three, two, one..." Jose shot his arrow to the right of the men, as he mentioned.
The men turned their attention to where the arrow came from.
"Who's there...?!" The men shouted into the darkness.
"Now or never." Daniel turned to tell Luka.
Luke nodded and dashed towards one of them, Daniel quickly followed.
They knocked them both out with a swift blow to the back of their heads. They dragged their bodies into the darkness. Luke and Daniel proceeded to move towards the entrance to the train station building. They hid underneath a window, scouting the inside of the building. Will and Jose moved up to the second position, as planned.
Luke directed his attention to Aiko.
"Aiko, you're free to come down and take the position with Jose and Will, you three will be our cover from the back."
"Yeah."
"Yes."
"Alright."
A simultaneous confirmation could be heard from all three survivors.
The first thing Daniel noticed while peeking through the window was a large chained up container almost the size of the room. The container was shaking from time to time.
"Luka?"
"I see it, too, Dan. I have no idea what that is. Let's wait for a bit."
Daniel nodded in confirmation.
A Russian accent could be heard from the two men talking. Unfortunately, that's all our survivors could make out since the windows were not open.
"They sound Russian, you know what they're saying, Luka?" Daniel asked in concern.
"I can't understand them, and even if we could, Russian is kind of out of my league. I'd probably be able to make out certain words, but not the entire conversation." Luke answered quickly.
Luke was almost cut off by the two men slamming their fists onto the container.
"What are they doing?" Daniel questioned.
"I don't know, but I don't like it. Be prepared to either walk inside or run away." Luke answered seriously.
"Alright, right behind you, brother."
Suddenly, the container started shaking and vibrating more and more. Eventually, there was a muffled roar that could only be heard clearly from inside of the train station building.
"Luka..." both Daniel and Luka's eyes widened. "...that's...a reason to panic, isn't it?"
"That...is definitely..." As soon as Luke managed to start that sentence, the container broke loose. The two men were in shock and both of them froze in place as the beast threw the container at them and killed them both with the sheer amount of weight and force behind its throw. Both of the men, along with the container, flew out of the window on the side of the building. With the container thrown out of the way, it was obvious the beast they were going up against.
...
A Sacrifice Tank.
"That's definitely a reason to panic."
