Sorry for the long wait. I've had a very long 2 weeks, plus I HATED how this chapter turned out, this isn't much better than the first one but I need to get something out. I will say that chapter 17 will probably be another wait. I have thought of a lot of stories though. Besides that hope you enjoy.
Chase nervously followed the gang of dog towards the front gate of the safe area. He was fully equipped with his gear making him basically unnoticeable.
The walk was silent with little talking.
They approach the guard. "Who's he?" The man asks.
The short man had a wooden baseball bat with nails hammered to the end. Chase looked to Everest who seemed cooler than ice. "He's a recruit, picked him up on our walk." She replied nonchalantly.
The guard nodded and stared at Chase the entire way inside. Chase quickly looked away from the man and looks to Everest and Makalu who seem to be talking in a tone similar to how she used to talk to Chase.
Chase sped up his pace. "So...how's theeee apocalypse life?" Chase asked as he jumps in between the two.
Everest and Makalu looked at each. They both nervously smiled. "Well..." Makalu started as they walked up to a boarded up house. They walked up the stairs and look at the door. "Made some new life." Makalu says and pushes the door open revealing 3 little husky puppies.
Chase stood still with his mouth agape and paw halfway raised. "I...I didn't see this coming." Chase spat out.
He slowly tilted his head to Makalu and patted his shoulder. "Congratulations?" Chase said not knowing what to say.
Everest led them inside and the puppies noticed Chase. "Wolf!" One yelled as they all scrambled under a couch.
Chase was taken away by this. He looked down at himself. "I look nothing like a wolf!" He said still examining his fur which was still pretty clean.
"Nah they like using their imagination." Everest nervously chuckled. She snapped her head towards the couch and tried to calmly walk over.
Chase backed up to Makalu. "I thought she'd be a fun mom." Chase commented noticing her fed up look and aggressive steps.
Makalu nodded as he watched the common sight to him.
Everest looked under the couch. "Come out, he's here to help us." Everest cooed. After some more negotiation she had gotten nowhere.
Chase and Makalu watched completely entertained. She let out a grunt and started to push the couch.
She managed to grab 2 out.
"If you don't come out I'm feeding them to the wolf!" Everest threatened.
Chase rolls his eyes as Makalu chuckles. The last pup willingly walked out with a tough looking expression.
They all stared at Chase. "Wanna relax for a bit?" Makalu offered as he pulls out a small flask.
"Sure, but I don't drink." Chase replied pushing away his paw. Makalu shrugged and took a gulp of the liquid.
Chase scrunched his snout to the smell of the vodka. It burned his sinuses. He aggressively blew air out of his nose to try and attempt to fix it but nothing was useful.
Rocky and Marshall sat in the helicopter looking for a hole in the ground. "There's nothing." Marshall exclaimed and sat backwards in defeat.
Rocky has been mesmerizing the layout of the place.
He looked down the fallen gondola's. The snow was filled with trash, clothes and snow boards, and some dumped bodies. "Crazy how these people will be alive once we find this magic cave." Marshall huffed.
Rocky just nodded and focused on the snow.
"Can you head to the peak of the mountain!" Rocky yelled trying to retrace Chase's instructions.
The helicopter approached the top of the mountain. "Can you land over there? Just hover above please!" Rocky called out again.
The pilots looked to each other. They pressed some buttons, two nets and harnesses shot out from a launcher up on the roof.
Rocky and Marshall smiled to eachother. "Cooool!" They both said as they hooked themselves up. They gave a thumbs up.
They lowered to the floor and looked for a shed. Rocky walked around to the outside where a shed could most likely be found. Marshall instead went inside the gift shop. "Ooh" Marshall cooed as he lifted a picture of himself that sat on the wall.
Rocky walked through the frigid air shivering here and there. He made little noise besides the sound of the snow crunching under his weight and his breath which kept him distracted. He liked how it evaporated in the air.
He came across a large wooden box. It had a picture of Chase on it. He walked around to the door. He grunted with each tug. Suddenly the door gave in with a loud snap. Rocky flew a couple feet backwards. He quickly got up and looked around to see if Marshall was in the area. He exhaled and walked inside.
Inside was Everest's snow mobile. "She loved this thing..." he mumbled as he examined it.
He jumped in and noticed a picture of their famous picture of the original 6 paw patrol members with Chase and Ryder proudly standing in the middle.
He noticed the controls were similar to his rig, besides some unknown buttons he couldn't identify. "I wonder if it still wo- he pressed the power and the rig's engine. The sounds ripped the air in half.
He drove it out and saw Marshall sprinting around the corner. "Oh...I thought you were in trouble!" He huffed.
"Get in! That's the slope they took!" Rocky yelled over the engine.
Marshall didn't hesitate to jump in. Rocky instantly slammed on the gas as they sped down the mountain.
Marshall noticed some bones on the ground. "Poor rabbits." He exhaled.
Rocky rolled his eyes. "I know you have a rabbit obsession but it's not that big of a deal." Rocky replied as he started to slow down the rig.
They reached the bottom and he started to recreate what Chase had told them that day.
Marshall followed Rocky in silence to let his mind think. Rocky tried to imagine the scene in his head. Then it got really useful. They found a slight hill.
They slid down it and slid down another one.
"We have eyes on the hole!"
Rocky and Marshall followed the helicopter from the bottom. They saw the whole and got onto their bellies to decrease the risk of falling. "I can't even see the bottom!" Marshall exclaimed as he looked into the deep hole. He shivered much more since he was on the ground.
Rocky raised an eyebrow. "How did they survive that fall?" Rocky scoffed.
Two ropes came down with harnesses. They did the usual routine and lowered into the hole.
They were peacefully waiting until a loud roar could be heard.
As they touched the ground a bobcat used the ropes to get down to them. They quickly unhooked themselves and got ready for a fight.
They both backed up and let the bobcat hit the floor. It growled and showed it's long teeth.
Rocky looked to Marshall who was gone. "Marshall!?!" Rocky exclaimed.
He looked back to see the bob cat lunging at him. He was now on his back pushing the bobcat away with all his force. "Marshall!" Rocky desperately called out.
Suddenly everything froze in its position and the bobcat was almost weightless. He pushed it off of him to see 3 bones stuck into its neck and head area. Behind it was Marshall who was taking heavy breathes.
Rocky had no words. "Your welcome." Marshall said as he sat down. Rocky looked around and saw the skeleton of another feline near a pile of snow. "That must've been the original animal they killed." Rocky said as he looked at their kill.
They got up and followed the small stream of water that was now mixing with the blood of the bobcat.
Chase looked at Makalu. "Okay, spill the beans on the info." Chase said as he took a seat. Makalu took one across the table and stared at Chase.
They both raised an eyebrow realizing they were getting into a staring contest. Chase calmly watched Makalu struggle after 40 seconds.
"Okay, you win!" Makalu laughed and blinked his eyes. Chase impatiently nodded. "Okay hurry." He ushered.
Makalu nodded. "So, their base is in Alaska! There's like 10 guards who don't use guns, like half of em are dogs, and there are a LOT of scientists and stuff. Making a super computer. Of course, they've already built it. That's how they contacted all their agents!"Makalu quickly said. Chase opened his mouth.
"Ooh Ooh! They all also have a marking. Dogs have it behind their right ear and humans have it in their belly button..." Makalu said shivering at the thought of it. Tattoo in your belly button...
Chase raised an eyebrow. "Is that it?" Chase asked.
"Yep, I only joined like a week before it all went to shit, I didn't know what was going on." Makalu replied with an uneven smile.
Chase nodded and got up. "I need some air." He mumbled and walked outside.
He noticed more and more dogs walking by. He raised his suspicions as he noticed the same dog walk by twice.
Suddenly 5 dogs rose from the crowd and sprinted towards Chase.
Chase got up and weaved in between them and ran for the fence. Half way there he got pushed by another dog.
He looked around and noticed an unprecedented amount of dogs showing up to capture the Shepherd.
Meanwhile
"Okay so...the riddle is! Why did the chicken cross the road...11=2..." Marshall said as he looked at the wooden sign.
Rocky facepalmed himself. "You're kidding? Right?" He asked.
Chase punched dogs left and right but they clearly wanted to capture him not kill him. Once he was detained he noticed a familiar face. "I didn't believe them at first...but it's true. Chase is alive!" Luna exclaimed and she approached the helpless Shepherd.
Chase glared at her. "And he came back to stop ME! AHAHAHA!" She mockingly laughed and she pulled out knife.
Chase gulped. "You shouldn't have come back, especially alone." Luna whispered.
A crowd had formed around them during Luna's rant. Suddenly people started moving. Chase noticed his trustworthy teammates show up.
They dogs that held him down were swiftly it and knocked out cold.
Chase turned around to see Ryder. "What the..." Chase mumbled.
Ryder's eyes were soft as they scanned Chase. Ryder instantly hugged him. "Where's Rocky and Marshall?" He shakily asked.
"Safe." Chase replied.
Their tender moment was ruined by chaos. Fighting had broken out between the paw patrol and syndicate. The odds were heavily against them but Ryder easily turned the tides.
Chase jumped in to help and they even seemed to be winning.
Chase had strayed away from the main fight. "Chase! LOOKOU-
Chase turned around to see Luna frozen in place with a knife being held a couple of inches away from Chase's head.
Chase backed to and looked around to find that everyone was frozen. Soon enough a white flash started to appear off the horizon.
It got brighter and brighter very fast and then...nothing.
During the fight
Marshall and Rocky walked through a long tunnel that sloped up. Marshall dragged his feet and huffed as Rocky impatiently waited for him to move his legs. "Can you go any slower?" Rocky asked.
Marshall didn't respond.
Suddenly they entered a lowly lit room. They turned their headlights back on and looked around. "What a waste!" Marshall exclaimed as he didn't see anything. Rocky disagreed and moved towards a wall.
Marshall huffed. "OH MAH GAWD!!! A STONE BLOCK!" He sarcastically said and fell onto his back and looked at a wall.
Rocky read the instructions. "Easy peasy lemon squeezy . Marshall you need to act normal for a DAY!" Rocky said as he shook his body.
Marshall just shrugged. Rocky rolled his eyes and went back. He thought of where he wanted to be. Then he thought of Marshall and Chase. He looked at the arcade type of machine. In the center was a faded red button. He huffed and pressed it.
He looked around and noticed a white light emit from the darkness.
He felt his heart race as he gets to see it for himself. Marshall quickly got to his feet and looked at the light. He saw Rocky reach for it.
The moment he touched it, it sped up and engulfed them. All he saw was white and couldn't hear anything.
When he blinked, he was at the lookout talking to Ash. "I need to do something...alone real quick!" Marshall quickly said as he rushed away from her. He looked around and noticed the others playing tug of war.
He took a seat in his pup house and started to breath. He looked down and noticed his clean and untouched fur along with a much cleaner pup tag. "Okay...okay...normal..." he mumbled to himself and walked back out to see Ash.
He felt much more bouncy and energetic.
He noticed Ash sitting down under a tree in all her beauty. His legs moved faster and faster to the point where he full sprinted.
He tried to hit the breaks but going to his younger self meant he regained his clumsiness. "Dangit!" He shouted as he got back up to see Ash giggling.
Marshall smiled back and sat next to her.
He didn't listen to the words or anything that came out of her mouth. He looked around to see how bright and colorful everything is.
The lookout wasn't crooked and looted for scrap metal, there weren't any pictures of them to signal their deaths and best of all, none of the pups looked starved and skinny. He took in every single moment he missed in the last 3 years.
Aaaaand Chapter 16! Again sorry for the long wait but school is starting in like 2 weeks so….I have a lot on my plate.
