Chapter 17! I really wanna get this done before school starts but it seems very unlikely.
Rocky opened his eyes and noticed Chase who was on the ground taking deep breathes. He looked around and noticed the wooden walls and floor, small dog beds and desk in the corner. He heard a loud exhale from Chase.
They shared a stare... "You...you did it!" Chase exclaimed as he gave Rocky a tight hug. "I...can't...breath." Rocky informed.
Chase let go, Rocky started taking deep breathes.
Knock knock knock
Chase raised an eyebrow. "Come in!" Chase called out.
The door quickly opened revealing Everest who had small tint of nervousness. "Ryder is calling." She said as she left and walked to the living room.
Chase and Rocky caught up and noticed how dark it was outside. "Boy it's late." Rocky said taking a good look at the clean lobby.
Everest nodded and turned on a projector. "Chase! Rocky! How's the job going?" Ryder said with a bright smile on his face.
Rocky looked to Chase for an answer. "Good I guess." Chase replied as he rubbed the back of his head. Everest gulped
Ryder nodded. "Sounds great, be ready because I'm coming over tomorrow to pick you guys up."
Chase just slowly nodded as he stared at the projection of Ryder. A couple second later Ryder finished and the screen went blank.
Rocky noticed Chase looking at the wall. "I'll see you in the room." Rocky said, walking away.
Chase shook his head a looked to Everest. He fondly remembered this moment. He didn't want to waste his time. "Everest" chase started.
Everest raised an eyebrow.
"I don't have much time, but look. You're gonna offer me a present with a blue rock and letter and Jake is gonna walk in when we're about to kiss." Chase instantly.
Everest froze and looked at her gift sadly. "So...it's pointless?" She said in a shaky tone.
Chase quickly shook his head. "No no no, I love that rock, it stayed in my pup pack for 3 years after. And the letter was amazing. I'm just saying that we used the second chance thing again." Chase said as he inched closer.
Everest's mood stayed the same. "So...you're from the future basically."
Chase shook his head. "I hate my future, I wanted to spend it with you and the paw patrol but sigh I don't know. There's so much to think about right now." Chase huffed in exhaustion.
Everest suddenly hugged the stressed Shepherd and handed him the presents.
Just as she handed them to him the door shook and Jake walked in. "Hey you two...gifts...nice!" Jake complimented and yawned.
"I'm off to bed. Guhnigh." He mumbled and walked down the hall.
Chase looked to the box and then looked to Everest. "Still as good as ever." He smiled.
Everest smiled. "So...you liked me this whole time?" Everest asked.
Chase smiled and nodded. "Yep, then me and Rocky went home, accidents happen and 3 years later the apocalypse happened where you and Makalu had kids. Then I almost died and ended up here." Chase said shortening it.
Everest scoffed. "I wanna hear the full story." She said not believing his words.
Chase shrugged and looked outside. "How about we talk about it out there? It's a VERY long story." Chase replied. Everest nods as Chase opens the door for her.
A plane landed in front of 5 figures. The snow shot everywhere and their ears went deaf. Everything calmed down as a figure walked through the smoke. "Chase! Rocky!" Ryder excitedly called as as he got closer and kneeled down to them.
"So what's the verdict? He in or no?"
Rocky looked to Chase. "He's...in." Chase slowly said.
Ryder nodded and turned around. Chase and Rocky impatiently waited for Ryder to finish his little speech. He pulled out a small chip and opened up the pup tag.
Once he put the tag and Makalu they headed into the plane. "Ryder, trust us on this one but Everest needs to come with us." Rocky suddenly says.
Ryder looked to Chase, Chase nodded in agreement. He looked out to see Everest talking to Jake and Makalu.
"Why?" Ryder asked.
Chase sighed. "Please Ryder, you don't understand how much this will mean to me, Rocky and Marshall. Especially have one event that we wish to avoid." Chase begged.
Ryder rolled his eyes. "Fine."
Everest trotted in the plane. "We ready to go?" Ryder sighed.
All three of them nodded. "Robo dog...go to the lookout."
Chase and Rocky gulped as Robo dog started drive. "Are you two okay?" Ryder asked.
Rocky huffed and cut straight to the point. "Ryder...It's like uhh...we're from the future but we're not. That Syndicate thing is a REALLY HUGE DEAL. Luna is going to ask you to take us on a trip with some of the members. They crash the plane and say Me, Marshall and Chase die. Blah blah blah we did something and now...we're back here. You need to help us stop that from happening." Rocky said with honest eyes.
Ryder leaned back out and froze. He scoffed. "You almost got me. Chase, you got Rocky in on this too? why did you have to-
"RYDER! LISTEN TO US! This isn't some sick prank!" Chase lost his cool with Ryder. Especially since he's the one who halted him the first time basically causing all of this mess. "Luna, the two recruits you've been interested in Linus and Freya, Catherine, Arrby, and even Rubble are part of the syndicate." Chase finished.
Ryder froze in place for 10 seconds. "Sigh How am I supposed to believe you? This is a big request for something you deprived yourself from sleep on." Ryder replied. He felt confident that he had stumped Chase.
Chases eyes widen as a lightbulb turned on in his head. "If the things I was told are true. They should have a mark behind their right ear. Help trap them and make sure they can't leave." Chase asked as he was on the verge of puppy dog eyes.
Ryder nodded. "Look. Tracker and Carlos are also in deep water with the Syndicate. Maybe they know a thing or two." Ryder said giving into Chase's eyes.
He looked at Rocky and Everest who seem relieved. "You guys are my pups right?" Ryder asked.
"Yep, we lived through every second, every minute, every event and memory you have of us." Rocky assured.
Ryder sat down. He rubs his chin and looks at the ground the entire trip back. "I have a solution to trapping the supposed Syndicate members." Ryder said.
The plane slowly lowered to the ground. Chase and Rocky let out a heavy breathe. "Didn't crash." Rocky said fist bumping Chase.
"Let me do the work." Ryder said as he walked out and headed towards a tree.
Marshall instantly walked up to Rocky and Chase. "Scariest 1 day of my life." Marshall chuckled looking at the Syndicate members.
"I don't have much time but Chase, Rocky, Marshall, Tracker, Luna, Rubble, Catherine, Arrby, and Rubble I need your help." Chase said as he led them into Rocky's lab/ the basement.
"I gotta go grab something." Ryder said as he ran back up.
"Tracker! You're still here?" Everest said in confusion.
"And you're back. What a surprise." Tracker retaliated.
Before they could insult each other heavy steps could be heard as Ryder walked down with a small pistol. He shot at every syndicate member as with pink darts.
They stood no chance as they fell asleep. "¡qué mierda!" Tracker yells as he drops to the floor.
"We don't have much time. Tie them up." Ryder said as he threw a rope to them.
Track obliged hoping that he didn't get shot next. Everyone but Tracker sighed. "Can someone explain please?" Tracker asked.
"Chase thinks they are Syndicate members." Ryder says in an unamused tone.
Tracker looks over to Chase. "How? What evidence? No marking, life long friends, and they've done nothing wrong or suspicious!" Tracker struggled to say.
Rocky clicked his tongue. "They haven't done anything wrong just yet. Wait till they cripple governments and turn the world into a wasteland." Rocky replied.
Tracker watched as Ryder pulled out an electric razor and shaved their back right ears.
Ryder couldn't believe it. "They...they have a little atom symbol..." Ryder said as he dropped the razor in disbelief.
Tracker got a look for himself and saw that it was true. He looked to Chase with a confused face. "How did you know?"
Chase rolled his eyes. Rocky spoke for him. "I'll explain once everyone is here. We've repeated the story a lot." Rocky replied.
5 minutes later the unconscious canines slowly woke up. Marshall decided to play with his food.
"What the hell? Why did you do this?" Luna asked as she struggled to wiggle.
Marshall got almost nose to nose with her. "We know you're apart of the syndicate. We know your plan to. Sabotage the plane and ditch us." Marshall said.
"What is the syndicate?" Luna nervously asks.
Chase saw his chance to say what she said when she had him captured. "Don't play it dumb Luna. We know everything."
She sighed. "How?" She asked dropping the act.
Everyone stood silent for a bit.
"TIME TRAVEL BITCH!" Rocky exclaimed.
Everyone quickly looked at him. "Sorry." He mumbled.
Luna couldn't believe it. "You're lying. Doesn't matter, you don't know where we operate Luna smirked.
"Alaska" Chase replied with a smirk, while her smile quickly faded.
Luna turned to see the other rats tied up as well. She dropped her head in defeat.
"What now?" She asked.
"You get to watch the Syndicate slowly crumble into pieces from jail." Marshall replied.
Chase and Rocky noticed how much Marshall changes once he's in a power position.
Ryder looked at his small team of pups. "I don't know what to do with them." He huffs.
The door opens and walk out the rest of the pups. "What are you guys doing to them?!?" Skye shrieked as she analyzes the horrible scene.
Chase watches the pups as they squeeze down. He eyes every single one of them.
He locks eyes with Ash. She keeps glancing at the tied up members of the paw patrol. Chase looks to them real quick and glares back at her shaky and nervous look.
Ash stood still in her spot as Chase shook his head. Chase jumped for the gun and shot 2 darts into her direction. She was already gone but Tuck got hit.
Chase sprinted up the stairs and got blindsided by her before she took off towards the bridge.
Chase caught up and jumped onto her.
They get into a fight which Chase is clearly winning. Marshall was the first to the scene. "Are you gonna help me?" Chase called out as he struggled to demobilize Ash.
Marshall looked away as he pulled out Ryder's dart gun. He wiped away a tear as he shot her. "You Idiuhhh." Chase said as he fell asleep.
Ash got up and looked at Marshall. "Oops." He said as he pointed the gun at Ash. Ash inched closer.
The gun was quickly snatched out of Marshall's hand. Everest pulled the trigger. "Chase will wake up, bring her." Everest huffed grabbing Ash's hind legs.
Marshall reluctantly carried Ash down to the basement. They tied her up and brought out the electric razor. Not to their surprise she was a member.
They waited for Chase to stumble back down the stairs. "Did-did you shoot me?" Chase asked as he leaned onto Everest.
"How did you know she was one?" Rocky asked.
"Sheeeee looooked suspect." Chase slurred his words and lazily blinked.
Rocky turned his attention to Ash. "So...how come you weren't on the plane...or weren't going on the plane?" Rocky asked.
Ash just made noises. "I uh" after some more stuttering she spat it out. "I didn't want to hurt you guys...it would've been like 7 dogs attacking 3 defenseless ones and one was Marshall. How can anyone wanna harm Marshall?" Ash said in tears fearing Marshall would hate her for being a bad person.
Marshall had hope. "So you're a good guy? Like willing to be on our side?" Marshall quickly offered.
She slowly nodded.
"Someone needs to watch over her still." Ryder said
Marshall raised his paw.
"No not you. I will. You can be compromised." Chase said as he pushed Marshall's paw down. He looked for some words to retaliate. "Oh and you can't be compromised?" Marshall scoffed.
Chase shook his head. "We both know what the answer is." Chase blankly replied. Marshall huffed and looked to the tied up members.
"Can somebody PLEASE EXPLAIN?" Zuma shouted out.
Ryder motioned the pups to line up. "Basically... these people tried to kill Chase, Marshall and Rocky in the future. They did some wibbily wobboly stuff to save us. But Ash might be on the good side." Ryder said in a very dumbed down version.
The pups still had many questions about this. Ryder untied Ash. Chase, Rocky, and Tracker were ready to jump on her if she tried anything.
"So we're just gonna leave them here?" Chase asked.
Ryder shrugged. "I guess so."
Ryder ushered everyone out as they exited the basement. He locks the door and presses a hidden button.
They all sit down and a table and the attention turns to Ryder. "Oh! Chase, Marshall and Rocky have to do all the talking."
"Can't wait to hear their excuse for that." Skye whispered to Tracker as he leaned in.
Ella scoffed and looked Chase in the eyes. "You want us to believe you're from the future?" She asked as she leaned back in her chair not believing them at all
"Don't believe us, there is a much bigger threat at hand." Rocky chimed in before walking upstairs to start his hunt for their base.
Ryder reluctantly followed seconds later. Chase and Marshall looked at each other. "What should we do?" Marshall asked.
Carlos quickly stood up. "We wanna help, we've been fighting the Syndicate for almost 2 years, we can be valuable resources." Tracker noticed and stood up as well.
Chase shrugged. "Sure"
Tracker and Carlos high fives each other. Marshall noticed Ash in a corner.
He left Chases side and made his way over. "So..." Marshall started.
Ash looked away from Marshall too ashamed to look at him. "You probably hate me, I worked for your enemy and let you die." Ash weakly and shakily mumbled. Marshall sat down next to her.
"I could never hate you let alone be mad at you. I'm just glad Chase decided to have mercy on you and keep you up here instead of locked down there." Marshall replied in a soft voice.
Ash gulped and looked up to Marshall with red eyes. "Why?"
"Why what?"
"Why do you keep picking me up? Why do you still do all of this stuff for me and I can't even repay you in any shape or form." Ash spat out with a tear going down her face.
Marshall wiped it off and smiled. "I don't need a repayment. Seeing you happy is good enough for me." Marshall warmly smiled as he opened his arms up for a hug.
Ash accepted the invitation.
Skye watched from a far as the two had a deep moment. She then sighed as she looked to Tracker who had made no attempts to even do anything for her. She sighed and left it alone. "Probably just annoying." She mumbled to herself and walked outside.
Tracker heard her small comment. He felt his insides dance around like a leash has just been let go.
Carlos felt a little worried for his partner. "Tracker, I don't think it's that big of a deal." Carlos said as he put a hand on Tracker to stop him from jumping around.
"Oh it is though! I'm freee!" Tracker replied
Carlos rolled his eyes and lifted his hand. "I'm warning you dude, you're going to miss the undivided attention she gave you." Carlos said trying to change his mind on the situation.
"Nahhhh."
Carlos dropped it and decided to head upstairs to see what Rocky and Ryder were gonna work on.
