Chapter 14: Sign up for camp
In Germany…
Peter Kranz cared about Germany. That might have seemed like an understatement to his close friends. He truly was proud of his country. He would do anything to defend the place that he lived in.
So, when the announcement was heard throughout Berlin about a training camp that would be organized in the city, he was thrilled and ecstatic. He wanted so badly to volunteer and help out. Anything to get his hands dirty.
It would be time to kick some serious ass. He wasn't going to stand by and allow his country to face destruction. Absolutely not. It would be extremely dangerous to confront Stalin and his henchmen, but Peter felt like he had to try something. He wouldn't let Germany fall under the control of the Soviets, even if it was the last thing he did.
Peter met up with several of his friends that were also living around Berlin and they all walked to the training camp.
"Are you excited about this, Peter?", Inge Dombrowski asked.
"Of course", Peter said. "Someone needs to stop the Soviets. If we all band together against Stalin, we have a good chance to defeat him. True, he's defeated numerous countries, but we all know he's conceited and arrogant."
"His arrogance will be his downfall, hopefully", Inge said.
"I'm looking forward to seeing the Soviets get defeated", Heinie Kurtzmann said. "They need to suffer. After all the pain and devastation that they caused for the world, they need to face a good dose of karma."
The group of friends stopped talking when they reached the training camp. Peter recognized the man running the camp as the official leader of the Hitler Youth movement.
"Greetings, young people", Artur Axmann announced. "Many of you know me as the leader of the Hitler Youth movement. I was chosen to organize this camp because like all of you, I want to preserve my own life and stop Stalin and the Soviets from causing any more damage to our country and the world."
Everyone seemed to be paying attention to Axmann. No one was making a sound. Everyone knew this was something to be taken seriously. No one was making any jokes or comical statements. Stalin would stop at nothing to eliminate anyone that publicly opposed him, and Peter was in that group.
"To start our training, find a group and start working with them", Axmann said. "We've got rifles and guns right here. The bullets are blanks. But be careful. These aren't toys."
Peter, Inge, and Heinie picked up a handful of rifles and showed them to the rest of the group.
"We could try to hit those targets over there", Peter said, pointing.
Peter picked up an assault rifle and pointed it at the red target 40 feet away. The bullet went through the center. A perfect hit!
"Good shot, Peter!", Otto Carr shouted.
Inge then grabbed an AK-47 and fired it at the target. Peter already knew that Inge was excellent at firing weapons. He had spent years training with her before the war. So he wasn't surprised when the bullet went through the middle, just like Peter's.
The group spent the next two hours practicing. Peter was impressed by the skills and decorum that his group showed. He only hoped that they could be of use during the war.
Meanwhile…
In the bunker, Hitler was feeling satisfied for a change. Granted, they were still in a shitty situation. Jodl was still objecting to his plans, Burgdorf was still drinking, and Gunsche was still informing him about crap. Stalin was on a roll, seizing control of one country after another. There seemed to be no end to his terror.
Elliot's plan was brilliant. Setting up this training camp would certainly get more individuals involved in the war. Stalin may have been powerful, but surely he couldn't stand up against all of the German citizens? Surely someone could stand up to him. Hitler could only hope that Stanford Murphy would be warned about Stalin's plans. If Stalin invaded Australia next, things would become even more hectic.
"We need to get a message to Murphy somehow", Hitler said. "He needs to know what Stalin could be planning next."
"Send him a message through your e-mail account", Goebbels said. "Or send him a message on Winger."
"It's worth a try", Hitler said. He logged into his Winger account and typed the message.
Mr. Murphy
As you probably already know, Stalin has started invading countries. The man is a psycho and will stop at nothing until he gets what he wants. Trust me when I say that you and your nation are in danger. You can always come here, if you need a place to stay.
Hitler sent the message, hoping that Murphy would read it. He could only hope.
"You sent the message", Gunsche informed Hitler.
"Let's hope he sees it", Hitler said, ignoring Gunsche. The former was just too stressed to deal with Gunsche's stupidity.
Meanwhile…
Burgdorf and Krebs were sitting in Krebs's room in the bunker, drinking several bottles that Krebs had found. Burgdorf wasn't sure what to do now. He felt helpless. Stalin had invaded five countries and it didn't seem like he had any weaknesses in his army's infrastructure.
Burgdorf honestly wanted to kick some serious ass. Hitler was clearly incensed from watching the cruel and diabolical acts that Stalin had committed. He only hoped that he could do something useful.
Just then a knock came on Krebs's door.
"Let me go see who it is", Krebs said.
He opened the door and saw that it was Gunsche.
"The Fuhrer wants you, Burgdorf, and Keitel to go to Australia to warn Stanford Murphy about Stalin's plans. He suggested going over there with armed weapons."
"Sounds like a plan", Krebs said. "It seems dangerous, but probably worth it in our case."
Burgdorf seemed to agree.
