Note: As my second Star Fox story to be set in my own personal continuity (which is pretty much the Zero continuity if Adventures and Assault got remade and included after Zero), I decided to write this one for Valentines Day. The story will be centered on a couple that I'm growing to like: Falco x Katt. As it's set after Lucky Rabbit's Foot, Sabre and Randorn are going to appear. I'm getting ahead of myself, so let's get started, shall we?

Chapter 1: The Accident

It was a simple January morning as Katt Monroe got finished eating breakfast. In addition, she also called two of her closest friends, Fara Phoenix and Krystal Bodimead, over to help her out with some winter cleaning. The feline could barely believe how much had changed since the war against Andross. Not only was the monster slain, but new threats, such as the Aparoids, had arrived. Luckily, Star Fox, with the Cornerian Army & Star Wolf's help, managed to wipe out the evil invaders. During the fight with the Aparoids, Katt managed to help her friends when they needed it and she became closer to the team. All except for her love interest, Falco Lombardi.

Falco was always on Katt's mind when it came to love. However, the avian never reciprocated those feelings. Katt always assumed that her crush on him would die out, but it never did. Even if there were plenty of options for her, including the infamous Wolf O'Donnell, the pink cat just wanted to be with the bird of her dreams. All it would take for her to be with Falco was if one of them was in some horrible accident. Little did she know, that day would come.

Someone knocked on Katt's front door.

"Come on in!" She said.

The door opened, revealing Fara and Krystal standing in the doorway. The fennec and the cobalt vixen entered the house, taking their shoes off.

"Hi girls." Katt greeted.

"Hi Katt." Krystal responded.

"How's it hanging?" Fara asked.

"I'm getting ready to do some winter cleaning, and I was wondering if you two could help me." The pink cat stated.

"That's why you called us here?" The fennec didn't look amused.

"We'll give you a hand, Katt." The cobalt vixen said.

"Great," the feline smiled, "what do you want to do first?"

"I guess I could dust." Fara suggested.

"I can wash windows," Krystal said, "but I could also help you reorganize some of your belongings."

"Sure." Katt looked down.

"What's wrong?" Fara asked.

"I usually call Falco over every winter to help me out." The feline answered.

"Did you not call him today?" Krystal asked.

"I'm about to," the pink cat stated, "but I think that he's getting tired of me. We've never had the best relationship, but I think that he can't stand me now."

"Go ahead and call him," Fara said, "while Krystal and I go upstairs."

"Okay," Katt warned, "but be careful up there. There might be an area that has a weakened floor."

"We'll be careful!" Krystal said as she followed Fara upstairs, "If one of us gets hurt, I'll notify someone with my telepathy or even call the doctor!"

When they were gone, Katt hesitated before picking up the phone. Dialing a few numbers, the feline patiently waited for the person she was calling to answer. After the first two rings, a voice came out of the set.

"Hello?"

"Falco," Katt answered, "it's me, hon. Can you come over and help me with my house?"

While they were upstairs, Fara and Krystal had entered the attic of Katt's house. Krystal began washing the lone window in the room with a sponge and a bucket of water while Fara dusted her surroundings with a feather duster. The fennec then sighed in annoyance.

"We're mercenaries and Katt wants us to do this?" Fara complained, "We're not a damn cleaning company!"

"Come now, Fara," Krystal said, "it's good to lend a helping hand."

"I know," the fennec said, "but is Katt's mind stuck in the nineteen-forties? There are plenty of things for her to do with us."

"To be fair," the cobalt vixen said, "it's a good idea to clean up when you feel your surroundings are cluttered."

"I just think that the kitty feels she has to conform to old gender stereotypes." The older female said.

"I take it it's because of the sexist attitude some of the soldiers in the Cornerian Army have?" The younger female asked.

"That, and Falco." Fara answered.

"That's the problem: Falco's just not interested in her." Krystal said.

"Personally, I just wish that Katt would just forget about him and live her life peacefully." The fennec said.

"Me too," the cobalt vixen stated, "but I don't think that Katt would let Falco go."

"Me neither." The older female said as she continued dusting.

"By the way," the younger female, "how have you been doing during the holiday season?"

"Fine, but I managed to attract a mate."

"Really? Who?"

"You know that brown wolf who you refer to as your older brother despite neither of you being related?"

"You mean Sabre?"

Fara nodded.

"Odd," Krystal said, "Sabre's chivalrous, but he never struck me as the kind of guy who would never end up in a relationship with someone."

"You don't approve?" The fennec looked at her.

"I approve," the cobalt vixen said, "I was just kind of spellbound by the fact you brought that up. I knew that Sabre was seeing someone, he just wouldn't tell me who. He wanted it to be a surprise, shuffling his thoughts so that my telepathy couldn't help me find out who his mate was. Other than that, I'm happy for you and Sabre."

"Thanks," the older female said, "but I guess that you being surprised is the same way I felt when Miyu told me that she was with Panther."

Fara and Krystal could remember that day so well: Miyu Lynx and Panther Caroso revealing themselves to be a couple. It had been a month after the Aparoids had been defeated, and everyone had simmered down due to the threat being gone. However, the year still had a few surprises outside of the Aparoids. One of those surprises was the fact that Miyu decided to go out with Panther. To make a long story short, Krystal suggested that the suave feline should find someone who returned his feelings. Now that they were a couple, Panther and Miyu were singing in harmony.

"You know, they didn't thank you for helping them get together." Fara spoke.

"I'm no matchmaker," Krystal said, "I'm just someone who's eager to help a friend."

"Krystal," the fennec stated, "you know Miyu less than Katt and me."

"I have her number," the cobalt vixen said, "so I can get into contact with her when I feel like it."

Fara went back to dusting, only to discover the duster she had been using was filthy.

"Great." She sarcastically said.

"Go down and clean up the duster." Krystal said, "And can you get me another bucket of water while you're down there?"

"Isn't that window clean?" Fara asked.

"I missed a spot." The cobalt vixen answered.

Fara then exited the attic, leaving Krystal by herself. The fennec then went downstairs, not knowing that what happened next would make today a doozy.

Katt had just finished talking with Falco over the phone, where the avian agreed to come by and help her clean out the basement. She couldn't help but smile, knowing that the bird of her dreams was coming over. The pink feline figured that she would get the opportunity to tell the avian how she felt. Even if they didn't get together, the cat still felt that it would be good to reveal her true feelings. Falco wasn't the kind of guy to show affection, which would make it difficult for Katt to tell him she loved him. However, she felt that he could be convinced.

As for Katt's friends, she knew that they would have her back. After all, Krystal was a Cerinian. Cerinians always captivated Katt, due to their powerful abilities and their interesting culture. The pink feline felt that having a friend from the planet was a good thing, largely due to the cobalt vixen's telepathy. However, she knew that Krystal wasn't the only Cerinian, as Sabre and Randorn turned out to be living on Fortuna. If only Cerinia hadn't been destroyed, then Katt would have been able to go to the planet.

As for Fara, Miyu, Fay, and Lucy, Katt knew that she could trust them. After all, Fara met Katt when they were younger, saving her from a bully. Miyu was someone who would be willing to talk to the pink cat, if no one else was around. Fay's giddy nature would cheer up anyone, due to how she was rarely ever sad. Lucy, being a teacher, would often share details about her job and tell jokes, which made Katt smile. The feline was happy to have these girls as her friends.

Katt got up from the table, deciding to clean the kitchen floors. While looking for floor cleaner, she saw that she didn't have any. That didn't stop the pink feline, so she decided to make her own. Taking out a bucket, the cat sat it on the ground before turning around to gather what she felt went into a cleaning solution. That was when Fara came downstairs, carrying her dirty feather duster.

"Hey Katt," the fennec spoke, "do you have any buckets?"

"Other than this one, I don't." Katt answered, gesturing towards the bucket as she poured rubbing alcohol into it.

"What are you even doing?" Fara asked.

"Making my own floor cleaner." The pink cat said.

"Are you sure that's a good -!" The fennec said before her nose caught a terrible smell, "Ugh!"

"What?" The feline asked.

"That homemade cleaning solution smells like a corpse!" The older female complained, resisting the urge to gag.

Krystal came downstairs, where she found herself encountering the awful smell of Katt's homemade cleaning solution. She heard Fara yell about how bad the smell was, but she didn't want to know what it was like herself.

"What is that?!" The cobalt vixen covered her mouth and nose.

"It's what I'm going to use to clean the floor." Katt stated.

"I don't think that I would use that!" Krystal warned, nearly gagging.

"Come now, it may smell bad, but it will clean the floor nicely." The feline said as she got ready to use her homemade concoction.

Then, all of a sudden, Katt caught the smell of her homemade floor cleaner. Like Fara said, it had the scent of a corpse. This horrible stench was powerful enough to overpower Katt's nose, causing her to disorient.

"Katt, cover your nose!" Krystal cried as she approached her friend.

However, Katt could feel herself slipping into unconsciousness, falling into Krystal's arms. The cobalt vixen held her breath as she picked up the pink cat from the floor and carried her into the living room.

"We need to call a doctor!" Fara stated.

"No doubt about it!" Krystal cradled Katt in her arms and gently shook her, trying to wake the feline up.

Falco opened the door, walking in the house and catching the smell of Katt's homemade cleaning solution.

"Ugh, did Katt make that concoction again?!" The avian moaned.

"She made that horrible stuff before?!" Fara cried.

"Yeah," Falco answered, "but it wasn't this overpowering!"

"Call a doctor!" Krystal shouted, "We need an ambulance!"

"I'll do that," the bird told her, "you give Katt some CPR!"

Laying Katt on the ground, Krystal began to perform CPR as Fara watched. While pressing down on Katt's chest, Krystal attempted to use her telepathy to scan the pink cat's thoughts.

Katt! The cobalt vixen transmitted her thoughts.

No response came from the feline's mind, which worried the Cerinian. However, the older female was still breathing, meaning that she was just out cold. Falco came back into the room, watching Krystal giving the unconscious Katt CPR.

"Aren't you going to give her mouth-to-mouth?" Falco asked.

"She's still breathing," Krystal said, "but I didn't get a response from her mind when I used my telepathy!"

"Don't worry, the ambulance will be here in a minute." The avian assured her.

"Good to know." The cobalt vixen said.

"Who's going to carry her to the ambulance?" Fara asked.

"I guess I will," Falco stated, "given how Katt just doesn't seem to leave me alone. Really wasn't expecting 2141 to begin like this."

"Sorry." Krystal and Fara looked down.

"How is this your fault?" The bird asked.

A paramedic, who was a blue jay, walked into the room, bringing a stretcher with her. Upon seeing her, Falco gently lifted Katt from the ground and put her on the stretcher.

"Don't worry, Miss Monroe, we'll have you standing again in no time." The paramedic whispered to her.

Falco, Fara, and Krystal followed the paramedic outside, boarding the ambulance with her and Katt. They took a long ride to the hospital, where an event would change everything.

Katt woke up in a hospital room, where she was by herself. However, the door opened, allowing a snow leopard, a pheasant, a fennec, and a cobalt blue fox to enter. She had no idea who these people were. In fact, she didn't know who she was or why she was at the hospital. The pink feline rubbed her eyes, seeing as her vision was rather blurry.

"Thank goodness, you're okay!" The cobalt vixen smiled at her.

"And you look better after that homemade cleaning solution incident from this morning!" The avian added.

"How are you feeling Katt?" The fennec asked.

"Who?" Katt groggily asked, "Who are you?"

Note: Oh boy, this story will be a wild ride. I've never gotten amnesia, but I know that it would be hard to get your memories back unless something managed to snap you out of it. If you're wondering why I decided to have Katt do some winter cleaning, isn't it important to clean up every so often? Besides, mercenaries need a break from their jobs. Now that I think about it, I could've just had her go somewhere with Fara and Krystal. What did you guys think about this chapter? Let me know when you leave a review or give a constructive criticism stating what you like and what you don't like. Until next time guys, peace!
