It seemed like they set up a nightly routine over the next few days. They sometimes talked with dinner, wanting to get to know each other as best as they could. They had a week to decide if they wanted to keep this up. Well, Peter had to decide, Wade was already sold on the idea.

Peter did the shopping, actually making a list beforehand that he asked Wade to check it was okay. He was always like that, Wade found it endearing how he acted about spending his money, no matter how many times Wade said it was okay. He took out a handful of money for Peter to take to the store with him, more than enough for the trip and for Peter to get himself a treat. Not that he did, Wade found the receipt and change on his low table with a cup of coffee. Wade helped him put it away, marvelling at how Peter had carried the bags home.

Then Peter made dinner, he had some good recipes, which got more varied because Wade had asked him to buy a recipe book. And Peter seemed to enjoy the cooking. He liked to hum and sway while he stood at the stove, whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner. The more Wade watched, the more tempted he was to sidle up behind his sweet Petey Pie and sway with him, let their bodies press together and see where the moment takes them. Except that would be a stupid idea, and making Peter uncomfortable during an activity that was obviously something he enjoyed wasn't fair.

Eating dinner was the same affair. He never pulled his mask higher than his nose to eat, and Peter never stared. It was comfortable. Sometimes they cuddled after, other times Peter was too tired from researching or wanted an early night. Either way, Peter went to bed first, so Wade could get into clothes that covered everything but his hands and settle in beside him. And then he woke up with Peter cuddled into his side, stroking his hip and looking up at him with sleepy eyes. Just so he could delve in for a morning kiss before his shower.

The morning of their fifth day together, the landline started screeching while Wade was napping on the couch. No jobs meant he could do very little during the day, and when Peter sat on the floor with his laptop on the low table to study, Wade had nothing to do but listen to the stupid voices in his head or nap. So he mostly napped. Which meant Peter got the phone first, wearing a small smile when someone started talking.

"Of course it's okay, about time I met little miss Nora. And I'm sure Wade won't mind," the tone went up at the end as Peter turned to him.

Wade just nodded, and Peter suggested they come by for lunch and he'd whip something up for them. After he hung up the phone, he kissed Wade's cheek on his way to the kitchen, skipping with excitement. It made Wade chuckle, he wanted to see what Peter was like around children. Not that he could have any, at least he didn't think so. Children weren't a topic Wade had asked about, seemed too big a question to ask still. But a visit from his favourite girls would let him know a new side to Peter, and that was exciting.

The family of 3 arrived just after noon, and Nora was beaming with excitement over meeting 'uncle Peter'. Wade thought he'd look panicked, given he wouldn't be in the kid's life if this didn't work out. But Peter seemed overjoyed. He made sandwiches and apple slices cut into rabbits.

"I used to do this for my aunt May when I was caring for her. It was our little joke, that I treated her like a child." He smiled, watching Nora play and eat her apples.

"You'll need to teach me. She never eats her apples," Vanessa grinned.

"Even daddy can't get her to do it," Sean added. "And she's a huge daddy's girl."

They were beginning to chuckle when Nora screamed, running to her mother and pointing to the floor with tears in her eyes. There was a spider crawling away from the loud noise. Nessa shuffled behind Sean, obviously uncomfortable. Wade never remembered she was scared of spiders, but they hadn't encountered many in their time together. Wade reached for a croc and stood to save the day. Except Peter took the croc away with a frown. He shook his head, before calmly walking to the insect and letting it walk onto his hand. He examined it for a moment, seemingly satisfied with whatever he was looking for before he walked to the window and set the thing gently on the outside.

When he turned back to everyone staring, he rolled his eyes. "Spiders are fine. They're intelligent, gentle, protective of family and only hurt us when they need to defend themselves. People see the many legs or scary teeth and judge them on how they look. And that way, they miss what amazing creatures they are."

Peter looked to Wade, raising his eyebrows in a very clear 'sound similar' way. Nora starts badgering him with spider questions, but he chuckled that he didn't know much about biology, it was chemistry and physics where he shined. She looked confused, so he started explaining what that meant in the simplest terms he could. Wade's favourite was chemistry was like potion-making sometimes. It was a sweet domestic sight to see her sitting on Pete's lap and talking science crap.

"Isn't that sweet?" Nessa smirks, raising an eyebrow at Wade.

Oh no. This usually means trouble.

Be on alert dipshit.

"So, how's it going with Peter? What does he know, what has he seen? What have you seen?"

"Ness!" Wade hissed, making her and Sean giggle. "Not much. He knows what my job is and has seen the bottom half of my face, but nothing else. And we kiss in the mornings, sometimes on the cheeks during the day."

"Seriously? I'm straight, but living with a cutie like that for a week and only a kiss?" Sean gaped.

"What's holding you back Wade?"

Being hideous.

Maybe us?

Definitely you!

"Looking like this all over isn't good, and touching it isn't fun either." Wade scowled, "and before you start, you touched me way less after this mess. So don't try to deny it."

"Fine, let's make a bet then. I win, then you babysit Nora tomorrow so we can have a date night tomorrow before Sean and the others go off for a mission next week. You win, then you can blow up their HQ. Deal?"

Sean turned to her, face no longer amused but horrified. Wade forgot about being on his guard and in control of the situation, 100% too invested in the fear on Sean's face to be cautious about what he was agreeing to. And he should have been.

"You gotta strip for him tonight. At least your whole top half, and tell him to do and say whatever he's thinking. If he doesn't get disgusted like you think he's going to, then I win. And has to be tonight, so you can watch her tomorrow. I'm helping you rip the bandaid off. Get your man, Wade."

Oh shit!

Oh shit!

Oh shit!
