A new chapter of this adventure begins… Let's call it "Totems or spirits that haunt you on the night"

Day 11. The Sun Always Shines on You

It's yet another rainy day in Kyoto… A fearless woman walks in the middle of the night covered by a leather jacket and a hoodie. "Great," Lara thinks. "More action underway." Some local thugs, and a fragile lady. It's like stealing candy from kids… or is it? Lightning strikes in a spooky way. Static electricity is high, Lara feels it in her skin. So do the thugs, but at a higher voltage, as if taken down by a taser gun. They all fall down. She has seen this before, hasn't she?

A rather small asian girl, albeit adult, smiles at Lara. She looks as radiant as a divinity. "Hello, Lara," she says quite happily. Lara smiles. Best friend moment going on rather well. "The sun always shines on you, doesn't it?" Lara asks. "Sure," Sam says with a smile. "Let's go home."

Last time these two met face to face, it was not that far away from mainland Japan. A shipwreck had caused them to be stranded on an island, a quite haunted one indeed. "Is it possible she's managed to possess you?" Lara asks worriedly. "We haven't been able to talk much after Yamatai." Sam claps her hands, as if praying. "Itadakimasu," she answers before plunging into dinner. Sam's less talkative than usual, and Lara is a bit more. "Who knows…" Sam reflects. "I can't quite make sense of all that happened there. But Jonah told me you are a great wingwoman!"

Lara takes her phone out and shows a photo of Abby and Jonah. "Oh! She's so beautiful!" Sam says. "Well done Jonah!" Lara cracks a laugh. "I'm going to be a godmother!" she says. Sam smiles back, but she doesn't seem interested in Jonah at all. "I've been dreaming of eagles and shamans quite lately," Sam says. The swift change of topics puts Lara into alert. "I know you found inexplicable things in your latest adventures. Jonah told me a bit. But I found it hard to grasp until…"

Sam puts her hand as if holding a ball, and lightning arcs start to jump from finger to finger. "Himiko?" Lara asks. Sam stops smiling and looks downwards. "Who knows, Lara," Sam answers. "Maybe the ritual has been completed. Maybe part of her lingers in me. And if so, I'd like to get rid of her. She's a hell of a nuisance. Can you help me?" Lara smiles, boosted in confidence by her latest adventures. "Of course," Lara says. "A piece of cake!"
