Day 22. A Clumsy Infiltration
The desert sun strikes hard over Lara Croft, who's exploring a canyon nearby a potentially dangerous area. She might as well be taken down by a drone if she goes all reckless. Instead, the suction of a resounding turbine makes Lara's ponytail weave unnaturally. She's frozen. Escaping a helicopter? Easy feat. But a fighter jet? She stands no chance.
The fighter jet pilot has his set of challenges as well. She hasn't the same mobility as Lara, and also. "Is that a woman?" he thinks. "It surely is a mirage..." He gets a bit distracted and a wing gets dangerously near to Lara, who dives onto the ground. "Whoa!" the pilot says, while saving the jet and his ass. He decides best to head back to base before he wrecks a plane worth a million.
The eagles that make America proud have spotted a new prey. A naively-looking British girl, with a ponytail. She's wearing blue commando pants, and a black tank top. Light clothing for a sunny environment. They descend fast on their new prey, unknowing of their tragic fate, for Lara Croft is an avid hunter, dodger and counter. A few bullets later, the eagles will have fallen by their gluttony.
The signs of modern human intervention become quite apparent, as Lara spots traces of barbed wire. She hears a whooshing sound. Bombers are being tested in the desert too… Yet Lara still goes by unnoticed by the pilots. Her heart rate increases a bit. She's getting near that place with tons of weird press.
The first sign of that place is an underground rig. Poorly guarded by a solitary soul in a blue gown. Easy for the stealth kill. But he's so alone that Lara doesn't even bother. She just releases a big amount of lead in his face. The questions of morality of these pursuits have been long buried, together with Sam's corpse at Aztlan.
She finally gets a glimpse of her goal. A heavily guarded area, surrounded by an electrified fence. The patrolling guards spot her, but keep on with their march. "She won't get near any soon," they think. But in such cases, it's always safer to think twice. Your nice warehouse might get infiltrated from the water supply system. "What the heck?" the guards ask, but it's all lead and dead for them.
A quad bike in the warehouse is the perfect infiltration tool for one Lara Croft, as she throttles out of the warehouse, and in a reckless maneuver manages to pass above a barbed fence. She passes out after crashing the quad, and is surrounded by soldiers. "An eco-terrorist of sorts?" they ask themselves. As a result, Lara's escorted into prison - a clumsy infiltration has started.
