I'm so sorry I semi-abandoned this story. I promise I am going to try and finish it.

"Two to beam up Scotty!" Blasted out of my phone waking me up from my not so deep sleep. I glance at my phone and see the text notification that woke me up, it was Danny. The clock on the phone read 03:27, he must have just gotten home. I can't help but smile, he remembered to text me.

Danny: Hey gorgeous, I'm home.

Bex: ? Glad to hear it. Now go to sleep, old man.

Danny: I should say the same to you. Why aren't you sleeping?

Bex: I dozed off for a bit.

Danny: But?

Bex: ...the pain and cramps are kind of in full force and I don't really want to take the pain pills so I'm trying to tough it out.

When Danny didn't text back right away, Bex assumed he fell asleep, it was three thirty in the morning. Then her phone rang and the name across the caller id read "Detective Hot Pants" He's calling me? Why is he calling me? She answers the call hesitantly.

"Danny? What's wrong?"

"What do you mean you don't want to take the pain pills?

Bex lets out the breath she wasn't aware she was holding.

"They make me feel loopy and it's not a feeling I enjoy. I've been dealing with this pain for years, I'll be fine. I swear."

"Does Cath know you're not taking the pain meds?" Bex's silence gave Danny the answer he needed. "Kid, what's really stopping you from taking the pills?"

Bex lets out an audible sigh. "It's like I said, they make me loopy and sometimes that makes me loose time. I don't like that feeling...of missing time."

Danny got the sense that Bex didn't want to divulge any further details and he didn't want to push her. But he was concerned, he didn't want her in pain.

"Baby, you can't just sit there in pain. You'll never get any rest." Danny's concern was unfeigned and Bex was starting to feel guilty.

"Make a deal with me?" she asked facetiously.

Skepticism clear in his voice, "And what is that…"

"Come over and stay here with me...and I'll take the pill." Bex knows that what she is asking is a lot, especially since he just got home but she would feel better about taking the pain pill with him there.

Danny laughs. "Go to the lanai."

Bex is caught off guard, "Wait, what?"

"Go outside to the Lanai." The phone line goes dead and Bexley stares at her phone dumbfounded but she slowly gets out of bed and quietly makes her way through the house and out through the back door to the Lanai. She doesn't see anything right away but then she spots Danny sitting in one of the lawn chairs facing the ocean. She walks toward the chairs smiling.

"You're here." Bex states, standing directly in front of Danny. It's not really a question or a statement. She sits down next to Danny in the empty chair bringing her knees to her chest to ward off the ocean chill.

Danny takes his jacket off and lays it over Bex's legs. "Want to know a secret?" he asks her.

"Always," Bex quips back.

"I never went home." He stated.

Bex laid her head on top of her knees, facing Danny. "You were never going to go home, were you?"

Danny doesn't look at Bex but continues to stare out at the ocean, "I would have been going home to an empty apartment, I usually crash here when I'm kid free, but then you texted back right away and I wanted to make sure you were okay."

"I like that you're here." Bexley admits. "So, did you catch the bad guy?" she asks, attempting to bring the discussion away from her.

Danny just stared at her. Bex was sitting there in a wonder of pain yet she wanted to ask Danny about his day. He chuckled, "Yeah, we caught the bad guy. No doubt the Neanderthal and Catherine are getting hot and heavy while Steve gives the play by play. Please tell me you don't want a play by play."

Bex shook her head back and forth 'no', "I think I'll pass. I'm all for the crime fighting but I don't really want to hear about it at four in the morning." Bex snuggles further into Danny's jacket.

Danny catches her movement in his peripheral, "You're cold. Let's go inside."

"I have a better idea," Bexley removes Danny's jacket from her lap and stands up, positioning herself directly in front of where Danny is sitting. Without taking a second thought Bex sits down across Danny's legs, his arms immediately wrapping around her waist to hold her steady. Bex laid her head on Danny's shoulder and snuggled into his arms. "There, much better."

Danny kisses the top of her head, "You're right. This is better."

Bex and Danny fell into a comfortable silence and ten minutes later, Bexley was asleep in Danny's arms. Very gently Danny moves one arm under Bex's legs, the other behind her neck and stands up, lifting Bex with him. Slowly as to not wake her, Danny carries Bex back inside the house and back to her room. Once he lays her down on her bed and tucks her in he goes into the en suite bathroom to shower.

When Danny opens the bathroom door he finds Bex literally sprawled out across the bed. How could someone so little, take up so much bed space? He smiles at the thought as he attempts to lay down in bed next to her. Danny lays on his back, propping a pillow up behind his neck. As soon as he settles, Bex moves her head to Danny's chest and wraps her right arm over his waist. She lets out a soft sigh and her entire body relaxes. "Get some sleep kiddo," he whispers before closing his eyes and attempting to sleep himself.
