Chapter 7

So, the gang split up to look for clues related to the monster. Norville, Jr., Emma, and Scooby were in an alleyway, seeing what Frankenstein might have left behind there.

"It's really dark and spooky in here, Norv," Emma said frightened.

"Reah, rark rand rooky," agreed Scooby, Jr.

"Oh, come on you wimps," Norville, Jr. said to both of them. "It may be dark and difficult to see, but we're here to see what clues our villain left."

Just then, Emma tripped over something. It was barely visible, but appeared to be some kind of spray can.

"Hmm, an aerosol can," Norville, Jr. said. "Looks like spray paint."

"It's green spray paint," Emma replied. "It almost looks exactly like the color of the monster."

"That's weird," said Norville, Jr., confused. "Why would a monster spray paint himself?"

"Maybe they wanted to look less creepy," said Emma. "Doesn't matter though. It still looks creepy to me."

"Everything looks creepy to you, Emma," Norville, Jr. said, rolling his eyes.

"If you weren't so smart all the time, you wouldn't have to speak like mom!", Emma said.

"Reah, rust rike rom," said Scooby, Jr.

"Stop complaining, Emma, Scooby," Norville, Jr. replied. "We have a mystery to solve."

Meanwhile, Deanna and Mia were on the other side of town looking for clues when Deanna's phone dinged.

"It's Norville," Deanna said to Mia. "They found a clue."

"What did they find?," asked Mia.

"They found a can of green spray paint that the monster is apparently using," Deanna replied.

"He must be painting his face or mask green to look scary and disguise himself," said Mia.

"Yeah, but something seems odd here," said Deanna. "He could just simply buy a green mask as a disguise instead of painting his face."

"Good point," Mia retorted.

"Come on, Mia," Deanna said. "Let's go find Norville and Emma."

On their way to finding the Rogers kids, they run into the monster. He was wearing his "spray-painted" green mask, and was dressed up as Frankenstein.

"RUN!" shouted Deanna.

While still looking for more suspicious clues, Norville, Jr. and Emma saw their friends running from the monster.

"RUN GUYS!", Deanna shouted upon seeing Norville, Jr. and Emma. "IT'S AFTER US!"

"Did she just say the monster is chasing after them?!" Emma said frightened.

"She did indeed," said Norville, Jr. "Let's get out of here while we still can."

With that, the kids ran to their respective homes and locked the door after getting inside.

At the Jones' house, Deanna and Mia were hiding in their bedrooms hoping the monster didn't find where they were.

"Girls," Daphne said in the hallway concerned. "Is everything alright?"

"The monster chased us home!," said Deanna in a frightened voice.

"I knew it was a bad idea to let the kids go by themselves," Daphne whispered to herself.

"You found the monster?," Fred asked the girls.

"Actually, he found us," said Mia. "We weren't looking for him right away. We split up looking for clues and stumbled upon him."

"Did you find any clues?," asked Daphne.

"We didn't, but Norville and Emma found a can of spray paint," said Deanna.

"That's interesting", said Fred. "Why would someone use spray paint to disguise themself?"

"I think it was meant for his costume, daddy," Deanna explained. "He was using it to cosplay as a real monster so that he wouldn't be recognized."

"Jeepers," Daphne replied. "That's one of the most clever things I've ever heard of."

"Yeah, but they won't get away with it," Mia chimed in. "Because 'Mystery Incorporated' will get to the bottom of this."

Back at the Rogers house, Norville, Jr., Emma, and Scooby were also in their rooms, frightened by what they saw.

"It was a gigantic monster, maybe even taller than you, dad!" Norville, Jr. explained to Shaggy.

"Like, zoinks!," Shaggy remarked. "After hearing that I'm now afraid of it too."

"Well, it's up to us to catch this guy," replied Norville, Jr.

"No way am I going back now," said Emma. "That was the creepiest thing I've ever seen."

"We have to, Emma," Norville, Jr. Replied. "We were hired to solve this mystery. Now we must do exactly that."

The next day, the kids met up with each other after school again, discussing their plan to capture the monster.

"Okay, gang," said Deanna. "Today is the day we catch our monster."

"Like, how are we going to do that?" asked Emma.

"I'm glad you asked, Emma, because you are going to play a big part in this."

"What do you mean by that?"

"Just like in our previous case, you're going to be the one who distracts the monster so we can capture him."

"No way, Deanna," Emma blurted out. "I'm NOT doing it this time!"

"Okay," said Deanna. "If you don't want the monster to be caught, then we'll just let him run free."

"Fine!," Emma mumbled to herself.

And with that, the gang got into position to make their move.

Well, the real action begins in the next chapter! We will see if the kids can capture the monster on their own or not. Stay tuned for the next chapter to find out.
