I hope you enjoy it and lets' get right into it!
Makayla groaned for the 3rd time when she heard the TV blare and cheering.
Jakob had the boys over again.
Eventually getting too annoyed to bear it any longer, she rolled out of her bed, setting her book down beside her. She got up and marched to the living room where she saw Jakob, Alex, and Johnathan sitting on the couch watching a football game.
It had been half a year since The Serpents and Ganabranth had been defeated and since then, Makayla Valdez and Jakob Johnson had decided to move in together into a cozy little house in Camp Jupiter's New Rome and everything was great. Leo and the others of the Prophecy of The Seven had been settling into a calm and forgiving life, going to schools and getting jobs like regular mortals.
Life was going good.
Makayla winced as the three shouted again. Rolling her eyes, she walked over to the TV and moved to stand in front of it and block the boys' view.
"Kayla!" Johnathan immediately whined. "I can't see!"
"I know. And do not call me that." She told him with a frown. "You three are being way too loud."
"Sorry, Kayla. I didn't know you were still here." Jakob apologized, standing and moving over to her to give her a quick kiss.
"Well, that's because I was trying to read." His girlfriend pouted.
"How come he can call you that?" Johnathan frowned, pointing at Jakob.
"Because Jake doesn't make me afraid that he might stab my leg or draw an image on my body with a knife." Makayla's voice was hard and the older half-blood winced, looking down.
After the gods' judgment and a lot of apologies, Johnathan had been forgiven by both demigod camps (minus Makayla) for his activeness The Serpents after accepting he had been brainwashed by the former Serpents' Leader to harm innocent people and was longer that person anymore, therefore being allowed a place with the Greek and Roman camps.
"We'll try to tone it down," Jakob promised Makayla and she nodded. Then, after one more kiss, she headed back to her room.
"Goddamn dude! You got hella lucky! You never told me your girlfriend was that hot." Makayla heard Alex exclaim once she disappeared from view.
"Why would I need to?" Her boyfriend replied, a shrug in his voice.
"Because she's smoking! How have you managed to keep your hands to yourself for so long?" Makayla paused at Alex's comment, wanting to hear Jakob's response.
"She's not ready yet. When she is then I am too but she's already been forced into it once and I'm not gonna do the same. When she does want to though it's not like I'm gonna stop her."
Makayla smiled, liking his response.
"But what if she never wants to?" Johnathan wondered.
"Then we won't. Kayla is not the kind of girl you want to force into anything; she's had way too much s**t in her life already." Jakob told his friends honestly. Makayla could almost see Johnathan nod.
Johnathan was one of the few people who knew about Makayla's past and involvement with The Serpents as he had been a member. She knew he had not been able to control himself when he hurt her, so she didn't hold too much of a grudge, but she was still pretty wary and uncomfortable around him; he had been Ganabranth's #2 man.
"Yeah, you really don't want to mess with her. She will kick your a*s." Jakob laughed at Johnathan's comment, knowing he was right, but Makayla heard someone sigh, most likely the former Serpent. "But it's my fault she's like this."
"You know you couldn't have stopped it. Even she couldn't stop him at first and you've seen what she can do." Jakob reminded.
"Yeah... but I still feel crappy about it."
"Back to the original topic, when did you two get together?" Alex wondered.
"Um... I'm not sure. I think it was the second week she got to Camp Half-Blood." Jakob answered.
"Second week? Damn, that's quick. How long have you been together?"
"Uh… fourteen, maybe fifteen, months?"
Makayla quickly did the math in her head and realized Jakob was right.
"Fifteen months?" Michael repeated with surprise in his voice. "And you haven't gone any further... why?"
"I just told you: she isn't ready. When Kayla wants to then so do I. If she never does then I won't push her."
Jakob's voice was tight and Makayla could hear him starting to get annoyed by the questions so she backed up a few steps before casually walked back to the living room. She poked her head around the corner.
"Hey, Johnathan?" She called, startling the boys. "You're pretty tall, right? Can you help me grab the... Um, you all okay? Did I interrupt something?"
"Nope!" Johnathan quickly got to his feet and practically jumped over the couch.
"So what did you need me to get?" The dark-haired half-blood asked, grabbing her wrist and pulling her down the hall. Makayla rolled her purple and silver eyes.
"Jonathan!" She exclaimed, pulling her wrist from his grip. He turned to her in confusion, asking what. The Daughter of Two looked behind her then led him into her room, silently closing the door. The son of Ares looked confused.
"Uhhh... What are you doing?"
"I don't actually need you to get anything." She admitted, turning back to face him.
"Then why'd you say you did?" He wondered confusedly.
"I heard the conversation you three had."
Johnathan felt a blush come to his cheeks.
"Um… what did you hear?" He seemed hesitant to hear her answer. Makayla looked down.
"I heard all of it, including what you said. You still believe it was your fault that I-"
"Makayla I am so sorry for what I did to you!" The former Serpent interrupted. "I know that you're still nervous around me and you don't trust me and you have every right not to. I hurt you so much and I am so sorry. I tried so hard to stop myself but I just couldn't; he had me wrapped around his finger like a puppet. I never wanted to hurt you, Makayla, I hurt hundreds of people in time as a member but I hated hurting you the most because I did it the most. I know you don't forgive me because I don't forgive me either. I'm sorry."
By the time he finished, Makayla could see the pain clearly evident in his eyes.
"Johnathan... I know you didn't want to hurt me" She told him. "I know you're sorry and you're right that I don't forgive you. I'm not sure if I ever will. I still have nightmares and flashbacks of the same pain that you inflicted on me. You cut a mark onto my body and left a scar that will never be erased, even by gods, but it's not your fault."
"Wait what?" Johnathan frowned, looking up.
"Yes you hurt me but you were forced to. My scar was made by your hand but his will. I'm not blaming you."
"You're not?"
"No." Makayla shook her head. "I know you didn't want to but even if you were forced to, I'm still scarred. I don't know if I can ever forgive you but I don't blame you."
Johnathan nodded slowly. He knew Makayla wouldn't forgive him but knowing she didn't blame him made him feel a bit better.
"I want to show you something," Makayla told him after a moment's pause.
She hesitated for a moment then slid her shirt off over her head, leaving her in just a bra. She saw a deep blush come to John's cheeks as he saw her bare skin then winced when his eyes rested on the scar he had cut onto her body. He dropped his gaze in shame, looking away but the redhead reached out to take his hands in hers, placing them on her arms. She again saw him wince as he felt the thick line on her skin.
"Don't close your eyes." She told him. "Look at it."
"At what?" He asked, voice hoarse. "I've seen it before. Hell, I made it. All I can see is the after-effects of the pain I caused you."
"Don't look at it like that." She argued. "Don't just see a mark you caused, feel the image you created."
She moved his hand to her back and felt him move his fingers along her skin from her arms to her shoulder, his fingers slowly tracing the snake. His fingers ghosted over her as if he was afraid she would hurt if he touched her but his hands still traced the scar up her arms and to her shoulders where he paused. Makayla nodded slightly and took a step closer to him, her hands moving to his chest.
After another small moment's pause Johnathan's hands slid from her shoulders and around her, moving down to her back. She got goosebumps on her skin as his hands moved along her scar, sending a tickling sensation as he traced it along her body. She felt his hands slide down to her lower back then stop when he reached the waistband of her shorts.
"Now do you see it?" Makayla asked him gently. Johnathan slowly nodded.
"Yeah. It- it's almost..." He trailed off.
"Almost beautiful." She finished. "I didn't want to see it either at first but I forced myself to. It's a haunting symbol but a beautiful piece of art."
"I still feel horrible though."
"I know you do but it's not as bad as you would think."
Johnathan nodded slowly then paused, seeming to think about something.
"Now it's my turn to show you something." He decided after a moment. Taking a deep breath, Johnathan slipped his own shirt off and turned around and Makayla's eyes widened.
John also had a scar but unlike her snake that weaved along her entire body, his covered only his back. At first, she thought it was a number 8 then she realized it was the Infinity Symbol formed by a snake.
The Serpents
Johnathan's mark was like her own but way more detailed, like a colorless tattoo. The detail and likeness was so amazing that it was sickening. Makayla was shocked, not having thought anyone else had a mark like her. Usually the symbol had been a small brand on the shoulder or arm, yet here it was covering nearly all of John's back. She started to reach out but stopped herself.
"Can I...?" She asked hesitantly.
He nodded and Makayla reached her hand out until her fingers gently touched his back, causing him to start slightly at the feeling of her cold hands on his skin. Slowly her fingers traced the snake, mesmerized yet also horrified at the sight of the mark.
"Ganabranth wanted to make sure none of us could leave The Serpents so he marked everyone who joined." Johnathan explained, still facing away from her. "Each person's mark is like yours, how he can use it to control them. Usually it was just a small brand but he made mine how it is because I was so highly ranked. He wanted to make sure that the organization he created would never fade out, that it would always be known..."
"For eternity," Makayla whispered, her fingers still on his back.
"Yeah. Because of how fast I rose in rank, he chose me as his right-hand man and marked me with his personal symbol." John's voice cracked. Makayla slowly took her hands from his back. After a minute the son of Ares turned around so he was facing her and slipped his shirt back on.
"Thank you for showing me." She thanked him.
"Hey Makayla? Are you here?" The door suddenly opened and Jakob walked in. "You were taking a while and I-"
Jakob froze when he saw Makayla standing with Johnathan, her hand in his, without a shirt... For a moment the three of them said nothing and just stared in shock but then Jakob's face turned red with anger. Without saying a word he turned and left, slamming the door behind him.
"Jake wait!" Makayla exclaimed, running after him and leaving Johnathan in the room, not even bothering with putting her shirt back on. She ran to the living room where she saw Alex still watching the game.
"Where'd Jakob go?" She demanded.
"I dunno. You check his room?" He shrugged, eyes still on the television.
She turned and ran down the hall, stopping in front of Jakob's door. She paused and knocked but got no reply so she opened the door and walked in only to be greeted by a throwing knife hurtling towards her face. She turned her head maybe an inch to the side and the knife smacked into the wooden door frame a breath away from her face.
"If I were anyone else, you would have a head pinned to your door frame." Makayla told her boyfriend.
"I wouldn't have thrown it if you were anyone else," Said boy responded, voice hard as he fiddled with his blades. "But I knew it was you."
The blond was lying on his back on his bed with one leg crossed over the other knee. One of his arms was behind his head while the other toyed with his throwing-knives, eyes closed.
"And how did you know that?" Makayla asked, yanking the knife from the wood. She threw it back at Jakob and he caught it by its blade.
"You're the only one who knocks." He told her, sliding the knife into its sheath and setting it on his nightstand. Makayla carefully walked over to his bed, sitting on the edge.
"Why are you upset?" She asked gently.
"I'm not upset." He denied.
"Yes, you are. Normally you won't even touch a knife around me, let alone throw one at me."
Jakob opened his ocean blue eyes and sat up. He frowned.
"I'm not upset. I'm pissed!"
"Why?"
"Because I just walking in on my girlfriend with some other guy! The same guy who helped torture her for months!" He exclaimed angrily.
"Jakob, I wasn't doing anything." Makayla tried to calm her boyfriend but the attempt achieved nothing.
"Then what was that just now? What else would you call that? You played me!" Jakob accused, standing up. Tears were forming in his beautiful blue eyes but from hurt or anger, Makayla couldn't tell.
"Jakob, I would never play you. I love you!" She denied. "Please let me explain?"
"Why? So you can break my heart even more?" He shook his head. "Sorry, Makayla. I- I can't deal with this right now."
Jakob then stood moved to walk over to his door. Desperate for him not to go, Makayla used her very last resort.
"Jakob freeze!" She commanded, throwing her hand out. Her palm glowed with silver light and Jakob froze mid-step. His eyes widened and he tried to move but the power surrounding his body immobilized him.
"Let. Me. Go." He demanded through his teeth. Makayla stood up and walked over to him, her glowing palm was still facing him.
"No." She refused. She despised using her powers to control someone but she just couldn't bear to have him leave.
"You swore you would never use your powers on me." He reminded her, his eyes hard and penetrating as he failed to break free.
"I know and I'm sorry," She apologized, voice shaky as though she was going to cry. Tears shone in her light purple eyes. "But you're not listening to me, you don't know what happened. I love you more than anything. Please listen?"
Jakob sighed. He tried to move again but was still frozen mid-step and received no response from his body.
"If I promise to listen will you let me go?" He relented after a minute. Makayla nodded. "Alright."
Her palm lost its glow and Jakob stumbled.
"You promised never to do that." He told her with a frown, straightening. Makayla dropped her gaze in shame.
"I know and I'm sorry. But will you listen?"
"Fine."
So Makayla told him how she had been listening to his, Alex, and Johnathan's conversation then she told him how Johnathan had his own scar and how he had shown it to her. As she talked Makayla could see regret growing in Jakob's gaze.
"You promise that was the truth?" The son of Apollo sighed after Makayla finished speaking. She nodded.
"Yes. I promise. I would never lie to you." She assured him. He nodded slowly.
"I'm sorry I didn't listen, Kayla." He apologized with a sigh after a minute. "I should have believed you. I was just upset because I thought he took you from me."
Makayla smiled and slid her hands into Jakob's.
"Jake, no one will ever take me from you. You're my everything. I gave myself to the man still I have nightmares and flashbacks about just to save you. I wouldn't do that for just anyone."
Jakob gently pressed his lips against hers and once again, if only for a moment, everything was perfect.
A/N:
Okay, so right here is actually where a lemon (sex-scene) would take place but because I want to keep this rated T, I'm not gonna. If you want to read said scene then send me a message on my page and I'll send you the doc. I respond to messages every day even a year after I post my story so just ask and I'll send it over, kay?
On with the story, taking place after the lemon.
Makayla woke up to something moving beside her.
She opened her eyes to see the sleeping face of Jakob and she snuggled into the embrace of her lover. She was lying with her head on his chest with her arm around him. Makayla felt his arms around her but she frowned when she realized she felt his bare skin beneath her. Looking down she saw that neither of them were wearing anything.
Makayla felt extremely flustered but then the memories of the day before came back and she relaxed and laid back down on her boyfriend's chest.
"You awake?" Jakob asked after a few minutes.
"Yeah. I didn't want to wake you." She told him quietly. He nodded, still half-asleep.
"How do you feel?" He wondered. Makayla smiled and gave him a kiss.
"Incredible." She answered. "I'm a bit sore but you were amazing."
"Yeah," He agreed, still half asleep. He rolled them over so they were on their side. "I'm glad- *yawn* -to hear that. I was worried I hurt you."
"Jake, you would never hurt me," Makayla assured, putting her head back on his chest. "Not on purpose."
"I know." He said, sounding more awake. "But it doesn't stop me from worrying. You've been hurt so many times."
"I'm a big girl, y'know. I can take care of myself." She reminded him with a smile.
Jakob rolled his ocean-blue eyes but smiled anyway. Makayla pressed her lips against his again but only briefly. Jakob frowned, missing her already.
"What's wrong?" He asked, sitting up. Makayla brushed her red hair from her face.
"I'm just sore." She explained and Jakob nodded and sat up.
"I'm sorry." He apologized.
"No, it's fine. I knew I was going to be." Makayla told him, wincing when she sat up. Jakob nodded.
"True. Do you think you can stand up?" He asked. Makayla shook her head.
"Maybe. But it hurts when I sit." She told him. Jakob nodded and wrapped his arms around her, gently laying her back down, his chest pressing against her back as the big spoon. He wrapped his arms around her stomach and slid the other under her head.
"Then I guess we'll be staying a while," Jakob smiled.
"We?" Makayla asked, loving being the little spoon. "Why are you staying?"
"Cuz I'm too lazy to get up."
Makayla laughed.
And that concludes the first chapter of Makayla's Sequel!
