In the TV screen the reporter was seemed to be standing in front of a road, encircled by yellow line marked as CID. In the road, there was traces of blood. The reported said in firm tone...
Reporter: hum apni darshako ko batana chahte hain ki yeh hi woh jagah... haan yeh hi hain woh jagah jagah CID Mumbai ke senior inspector Daya par jaan lewa hamla hua... jee haan darshako... yahin par us guneehgaar ne senior inspector Daya par hamla kiya... un par goliyan chalayi... jaisa ki aap jante hain ki senior inspector Daya is waqt Mumbai shahar par chal rahi mass serial killing case par kaam kar rahe hain... sutroyon ki anusar unke haathon mein kaafi saboot aa chuka hain us qatil ke khiiaaf... kya yeh hamla unhe rokne ke liye hi hain? Agar aisa hain to aakhir kyun? Kyun ki senior inspector Daya se pehle jitne bhi officers is case par kaam kar chuke hain, un mein se kisi par bhi aise goliyon se hamla nahin kiya gaya tha... shayad unhe kidnap kar liya gaya tha... jee haan dosto shayad... kyun ki un sari officers ab tak gayab hain... unka koi pata nahin chala hain... to phir senior inspector Daya par is hamle ki wajah? Yeh serial killer ab tak 22 qatal kar chuka hain... kya senior inspector Daya hi uska agla shikar banenge?... janne ke liye dekhte rahiye...
Abhijeet sat down on the sofa with a thud. The reporter's words were ringing in his ear continuously and the thing which was hitting directly in his heart was Daya was attacked and injured. Where wass he now? How was his condition must be? How much injured was he? All these questions were running inside his head until he saw Gayatri was dialling a number from her mobile.
He knew whom she might be ringing but he could not say no to her today. He knew, his mother would not get peace until and unless she had a talk with Daya. But was that only the reason? Or somewhere deep in his heart, he himself too wanted to listen Daya's voice right now? He really did not know.
Gayatri was thinking about only Daya now. She too was worried about his safety while the ringing sound of the phone call was making her irritated like hell. Where the hell was he? She was about to say something to Abhijeet when Daya accepted the call. No... he did not say anything. But the sound of breathing at the opposite side was clearly proving who was there. Now Gayatri said in a firm tone...
Gayatri: hello Daya... kuch bol kyun nahin rahe ho tum? Theek to ho tum?
Daya(in a broken yet calm tone): theek hoon maaji... aap kaise hain? Kitne dino baad aapki awaaz sunayi diya...
Gayatri, for a moment, did not understand what should be said in reply. She could feel the presence of some silent tears in those simple words. She could understand that the earlier Daya was lost. Abd today's incident had given him a huge jerk... it was clear from his voice. She just replied without even thinking something...
Gayatri: tum abhi ke abhi humare ghar par aao... main kuch nahin janti... tum yahan aao...
Daya(in moist tone): wahan jaun maaji? Sach mein?
Gayatri took a glance of Abhijeet, who was still standing there silently, and said in firm tone...
Gayatri; haan... abhi ke abhi... main tumhe dekhna chahti hoon... yahan aao...
No... Abhijeet could not object against her decision at that moment. His heart had not become stone yet. His mother had problem of high blood pressure and she could fall ill if she did not see Daya in front of her now. But was this really the only reason?
That night when Daya had come there, it was almost 11 PM. Abhijeet himself had opened the door and Gayatri was sitting on the sofa. But both of them was shocked to see Daya's condition at that moment. His hairs were messy and his shirt contained traces of blood near the left shoulder and right arm. His head too contained a big bandage. His eyes were containing an unnamed pain and his steps were trembling.
Abhijeet could not keep himself away today, thinking about past. He did not want to see him in this condition... never! He silently grabbed him from his shoulders and took him near the sofa, but today Daya did not turn towards him, his eyes were fixed towards the floor. Abhijeet silently made him sit on the sofa and he himself sat beside Gayatri, who asked in eager tone...
Gayatri: kaise ho Daya? Aur yeh sab kaise hua?
Daya was silent, he was just sitting there like a statue. Abhijeet and Gayatri exchanged an anxious gaze while Gayatri just shook Daya lightly and asked in anxious tone...
Gayatri: Daya please... kuch to bolo... yeh sab kaise hua? Tumne kisi ko dekha?
But Daya still not replied. He was just sitting like a stone statue on the sofa, with his eyes fixed on the floor. Abhijeet was looking towards him with sharp eyes. He did not seem normal. He could understand that Daya was there in huge trauma. Perhaps the attack was really unpredictable. So he stopped his mother with pressing her palm and slowly made Daya stand on his feet. He took him to the room, where he preferred to stay whenever he visited in this house.
But Daya immediately turned off the lights of the room, slowly went near the bed and threw himself on the bed. Abhijeet felt as if he was searching darkness to hide himself in it. He would need time to overcome from this trauma. He was feeling sorry for him, he did not know why. And he could easily understood that though Daya, being a CID officer, was habituated with these type of attacks, was in such a huge trauma just because probably it was the first time when he had got attacked but Abhijeet was not there beside him to comfort him.
After his memory loss, the first Daya he met was just like this... totally silent one. Perhaps that Daya had returned again... no what the hell was he thinking! He must control his emotions. He could not just keep thinking about Daya. Daya had many well wishers except him. He had ACP sir, he had... Abhiansh! His best friend to think about him. He and Daya were the residents of two completely different world now. Yes, he did not want him to stay unhappy but it was his responsibility now to rectify if anything was wrong in Daya's life.
He silently left the room and with this silent emotions, the night continued to pass away silently... towards a new dawn!
Next morning, Abhijeet arrived in the dining hall absentmindedly. Daya was sitting on a chair silently, with a plate of food in front of him. Though Abhijeet noticed it, but today he could not leave after showing his back. He had some work after breakfast, so he silently came near the dining table. He could see that Daya was watching him with strange gaze, but he just ignored it and after serving his food in his plate, he turned towards his bedroom. He would have his breakfast in his room. But his feet stopped as Daya called him from behind...
Daya: k... kaise ho tum?
Perhaps Abhijeet would have remained silent other days, but today was a different day. Seeing Daya's pale face, he could not resist himself from answering in low tone...
Abhijeet: theek hoon...
He again turned towards his room but Daya again called him from behind as...
Daya: Abhijeet... mujhe tumhari madad ki zaroorat hain...
Now Abhijeet turned behind and said in the same calm yet firm tone...
Abhijeet: sorry Daya... main tumhari koi madad nahin kar sakta... manta hoon ki tumhari zindagi mein waqt kuch sahi nahin chal raha hain magar tumhari zindagi mein hua galat cheezon ko theek karne ki zimmedari meri nahin hain... tum ek acche khase mature insan ho... apni zindagi ki zimmedariyan nibhana seekho...
He entered his room silently and locked the door from inside. He really needed some moments with himself whereas Daya remained sitting there, in dining table, with a plate of food in front of him, untouched. Some warm drops of tear was rolling down from his eyes.
At that moment, the sound of doorbell startled everyone present in the house. Abhijeet too came out from his room and exchanged a confused gaze with Gayatri, who too had come out. Abhijeet took a deep breath and slowly opened the door only to find whom he had expected...
ACP sir!
He looked towards him silently!
Abhijeet tum maafi mango Abhiansh se!
Tum bohot badi galti kar rahe ho Abhijeet!
Some lines echoed in both the ears which made Abhijeet's eyes more sharp and ACP sir's head bent down. Abhijeet took some moments to control his emotions and then said in a calm tone...
Abhijeet: aapka officer andar hain ACP sir... aaiye... mil lijiye...
He turned to go to his room when ACP sir called him from behind as...
ACP sir: main sirf Daya se nahin... balki tumse bhi milne aaya hoon Abhijeet... hume tumhari madad ki zaroorat hain... yeh to mass serial killing ka case humare haathon aaya hain, woh ek bohot hi pechida case hain... khooni bohot hi khatarnak hain aur berehem bhi... in fact hum yeh kehte sakte hain ki is shahar ke kisi bhi insan ab safe nahin hain... humare ya Daya ke liye nahin to kam se kam un masoom logo ki zindagiyon ke liye humari madad kar do please...
Abhijeet just looked towards him...
END OF THE CHAPTER

This time I will ask for no review target because I myself don't know when I will update again. I have my end semester exam on my head and this time I MUST score above 80%. Previous semester it was 79%.
And after the exam... guess what?
I shall enter in the final year of my graduation! I will be in the super senior zone of my college! I am so excited. But as I still don't know whether it will be an online exam or not, I must prepare myself.
But don't worry, I will try my best to update as soon as possible, whenever I get time. You all know that my birthday is in this month only, I will try to post a chapter as treat. Till then be safe and keep smiling.
