Shivers ran down my back as Edward and I arrived home after school. Alice and Renesmee had been laughing their heads off at Edward's story about Drama, about how, against all odds I'd gotten the part of Juliet, but they paused. We all smell him. Eugene. If he was here it could only mean that it was time. Rosalie and Emmett must've decided to... turn human again.
Edward and I had been over it many times, and with convincing on both parts we ended up deciding we wanted to know we could trust him before we turned back. Edward had taken a risk trusting him enough to turn Alice and I human for that short time. The hardest part about it all
Was how now that the choice was in front of me I wasn't sure what I wanted. I wanted to live forever with Edward and Renesmee, I wanted to be human and never thirst again... but I couldn't have both.
"Eugene," Edward nodded once he was in the door. All of us stood, the sofas and chairs abandoned and unwanted. Rather than looking nervous as I probably would have, Rosalie's face was filled with excitement and longing. It wasn't much longer until she was human again. Emmett's face was stretched into a wide smile, but there was an emotion hidden behind it, though I couldn't tell which.
"So there are three different ways I can turn you human again." Eugene said to Rosalie and Emmett. "The first way, the way I used on Bella and Alice changes your eye color back and let's you sleep but only for a short amount of time. The next is where your eye color changes, and you can sleep permanently. In that one you can eat human food and it'll nourish you, but you'll still need to drink some blood."
"So like Renesmee." said Carlisle. All of us nodded, except Eugene who looked confused.
"And with that one you won't be immortal, but you'll age really slowly so one year for you is probably 10 years for humans. And the last option is completely human. No thirst, you sleep, you look and age how you did before."
"Babe, let's do the second one." Emmett
said, glancing at Rosalie.
Rosalie nodded slowly, considering her options. She seemed to find Emmitt's choice the best one, because she said, "We're going to do the second one."
Eugene rolled back his sleeves. "Alright." He stuck out his hands in the air and made a pushing emotion towards Emmett and Rosalie. Suddenly, they flew into the air and crashed down onto the floor. Esme screamed and went to go check on them.
"They aren't awake," she said softly, brushing a strand of amber hair behind her ear.
Eugene nodded. "They will be in a minute."
There was rustling from Rosalie and Emmett's direction. Slowly, Emmett pushed himself to his feet and helped Rosalie to hers.
Esme and Carlisle gasped. Their eyes had changed. The yellow they'd seen for the past decades was gone. Staring back at us were a pair of baby blue eyes on Emmett and green eyes on Rosalie. Two new sweet scents of human blood filled the air. I had the sudden longing urge to lunge towards them, but resisted. If I wanted to drink blood that badly then I needed to hunt soon.
But when I drew my attention back to Emmett and Rosalie, I could tell something was off.
After a moment of silence, Emmett cleared his throat. "Who are you guys?"
Everything was chaos. Jasper and Edward were suddenly yelling at Eugene, who was giving a wicked smile, Esme had sat on the edge of the staircase and breathed silent sobs, and Carlisle was near Rosalie and Emmett. We didn't need Carlisle to diagnose what we already knew. They had lost their memories.
I turned to Alice. "You didn't see this?"
She shook her head. "They're a new species, like Renesmee so I couldn't see anything into their future. I had no idea this was going to happen."
"We're going to fix this. We have to." I said turning back towards the scene.
Alice smiled softly. "There's no doubt about that."
