Still rated T in this installment; mild spice ahead though.
For the first time in a week Kagome had gotten a decent night's rest. No surprise rocks or sticks jabbing her in the ass through her sleeping bag. No worrying about embers from the nearby fire leaping out and burning a hole in the material. She was home, in her bedroom.
In her brand new queen-sized bed.
In hindsight, the twin bed frame had collapsed from old age. It was something that she had talked about with Mama about replacing, but then she'd been sleeping under the stars so much in the past. She just…forgot. All the same, the replacement didn't seem to deter her new bedfellows from joining her, no matter how much the hanyou sitting at the foot glared at them.
If Kagome were being honest with herself, she'd admit that it was strange to sleep next to Inuyasha. She was always used to him sleeping just a few feet away, either in the hut they'd acquired on their travels, on the ground floor, or in the tree overhead. His human and youkai sides didn't have any reservations about sleeping so close, and she had said that it was alright…
She had no one to blame but herself, but she couldn't bring herself to do that. It was different yes, but also it turned out that Inuyasha put out a lot of body heat, human or youkai. And having both of them on either side of her? It had been a wonderful night of sleep. No amount of stress about school or Naraku could have kept her awake. She'd drifted off in minutes.
And now that she was awake, she could watch Inuyasha sleep. His human side, anyway; she couldn't very well turn over and watch the youkai behind her. Not with the vice-like grip he had on her waist. Kagome could feel his body pressed against hers, the heat a lulling comfort. Every couple of seconds she could feel puffs of his breath against the back of her neck. It tickled, but she couldn't bring herself to move away.
Human Inuyasha, while being in front of her, didn't mean he was any further away. Kagome could bump her nose against his easily if she took a notion. The temptation was strong, but she was more content to watch him rest. It was something she rarely got to see when he was in one body, and never when he was human.
She didn't count that night they spent in Togenkyo. Passing out from exhaustion was not the same at all.
This was more like the time that he fell asleep on her bed while she was studying. His face had such a soft expression to it when he wasn't frowning, or angry, or just…no. She couldn't say that that grumpy mindset was him. It was only a part of his personality, and he had his reasons. The way he looked when he was asleep, however, that was the truth. He was, at the heart of it, very sweet.
A low growl vibrated against her back, drawing her attention away from how long the human's eyelashes were – seriously, it was not fair – and to the arm around her waist tightening. Kagome tried to not wiggle against the youkai's touch, because she knew it would only encourage him.
As it stood, he had more than enough encouragement already. It was currently poking her in the ass.
"Mornin'…'Gome," he murmured into her ear, and that time she couldn't withhold the shiver that came over her. His breath really tickled and when he did that, it had her quivering all over. In places she didn't want to acknowledge with the man in question all but grinding against her.
Welp. She couldn't say he wasn't anymore. His hips just moved. Or it did.
"Morning Inuyasha," she whispered. Kagome didn't want to wake up the human in front of her if she could help it. Having one counterpart being overly…affectionate…that early in the morning was more than enough. She didn't think she could take it if both of them were…oh god don't think of that –
"I'll say it's a very…good…morning," he purred, dropping a languid kiss to the skin beneath her ear. "Waking up next to you, breathing in your scent…" This time a kiss landed further down her neck. "…you like it."
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"I think you do. Don't you agree, Human?"
Kagome's eyes snapped open to see Human Inuyasha watching her with a smile. How long had he been awake?
"Your blush says otherwise, Kagome," Human Inuyasha whispered. He closed the distance, bumping the tip of his nose against hers. He may not have had the senses of the hanyou or the youkai, but he could tell that Kagome liked the attention. Her eyes had darkened, there was a flush to her skin, and she was unknowingly biting down on her bottom lip each time the youkai kissed her neck. He reached up to cup her face, brushing his thumb across her lip. "That's no good, Kagome. You're going to hurt yourself."
Her heart skipped a beat when the human slanted his lips over hers. Kagome had kissed him the night before, and technically got a little more for it as she sat in his lap, but it was like the first time all over again. The soft caress, how he didn't push for more, the way his tongue brushed across her lip to soothe the ache.
It would mean shredding her bottom lip with her teeth, but if Inuyasha stepped up to do this every time he caught her?
Fangs lightly scrapping along her shoulder had her moaning against Human Inuyasha's lips, allowing him the opportunity to deepen the kiss. The youkai behind her continued to nip and soothe her skin, but it wasn't just what his mouth was doing that had her body singing. His hands were holding her hips in a tight grip, keeping her in place as his rocked into hers, letting her feel the full length of him with each movement. It felt so good, being surrounded by Inuyasha like this. It had to be a dream. There was no way that Human and Youkai Inuyasha were really touching her like this, kissing her, making her w–
"What the fuck are you two doing to Kagome?!"
And just like that, she came crashing back to the reality of the situation. It wasn't a dream. They were in her room, and Inuyasha looked ready to maim his counterparts. The human and the youkai were very much touching her, holding her, and – she thought to herself – they had gotten her very turned on. It had felt so good that she had tried to make herself believe it was a dream, because she couldn't believe that Inuyasha would desire her that way.
While the three forms argued with each other, Kagome took her chance and slipped out of the bed. Her legs shook a little as she found her footing, but now that she was awake-awake she needed to go to the bathroom. The cool air in the hallway would do her some good.
It had gotten awfully warm in her bedroom.
