1680 A.D.

150 years alone in a coffin was strangely eye opening. I had been awake for almost 40 years and had spent most of that time away from my family, even siblings need some space some times. We kept in touch of course. We used witches to send letters every so often to make sure we were ok on my travels across the world. It was nice.

I had been to Rome where I saw some Christians rave about witches and how they were the servants of Lucifer, I will have to keep an eye on the so called puritans that had taken a rather extreme approach to their faith. If it was anything from my world then I knew I had about ten years before the witch trials began.

Visited some Asian countries as well like Japan which was absolutely beautiful. I may or may not have accidentally invented tempura, one thing I have realised on my little vacation was that, I had missed cooking. The Dursley's may have used me as a slave during my childhood but I will always love cooking, the enjoyment I got as a child was lost when I was reincarnated by Mikael. Who saw cooking skills as nothing more than a chore that wasted time. He saw me trying to help Esther one day by gathering herbs from the woods and threw them away, stating that 'real men do not cook, they fight' before shoving a dagger into my hand. It was 700 years ago, I honestly don't remember. But from that point on I had to stop cooking for my survival up until recently.

I promised myself when I finally did go back to New Orleans, where Klaus had began to build his 'kingdom' as he had taken to calling it, a few decades ago. I would show them all I had learned by making a feast fit for a king. (Pun intended)

Anyway, currently I was travelling throughout the French wilderness attempting to find any part of civilisation, to no avail. I had come out here to find some herbs to use in the dish I had been planning to play with recently and ashamed as I am to admit. I had gotten lost. I know, I know. A seven hundred year old vampire like myself should not be getting lost, but I had gotten over excited when I had found some fresh truffles. The vampire's enhanced sense of smell is a blessing and a curse. In my excitement I lost my sense of direction. It can happen to anyone, honest.

As I walked intently listening and smelling for people I heard the sound of screams, a woman's. but the smell is what concerns me. 'Blood, a lot of it.' I said out loud to no one. Before vamp-speeding away to help.

The scene I came across was to put it in a word, disgusting. Two men with horrible smiles on their faces were surrounding a young girl with long blonde hair and brown eyes, her dress was torn and face was covered in dirt. I could tell what these men were doing and was more than happy to put a stop to it. I was getting peckish anyway.

So, I rushed forward grabbed one of the men so fast it looked to the others like he disappeared into thin air. Ten seconds later he dropped from the sky, drained of blood, neck mangled, with a look of pure terror frozen on his face. One down. The other I sped behind with my true face showing, blood staining my chin. (A.N all dialogue is in french, just too lazy to put through translate) 'Excuse me, if you could release the lady that would be absolutely wonderful. You might even survive.' I spoke with a smile casually as if talking about the weather.

The man rushed the young girl to her feet and held a knife to her throat and asked in pure terror. 'What did you do to Claude?'

I then looked at him in disbelief, 'I killed him. Obviously, what do you mean 'what did you do? Are you kidding me? His corpse is right there.' I said, pointing to the mangled husk once known as Claude

'How did you do that? Make him disappear like that.' He reiterated angrily. Obviously not one for jokes. I walked closer towards him and the woman to which he pressed his knife further into the poor girls throat, I could smell the blood.

Big mistake.

I disappeared from there view and reappear behind the bastard before grabbing his arm, swiftly breaking it and lifting him by his face as if he weighed nothing, which of course to me he didn't. 'What do you want me to do with him?' I asked gently, acknowledging the young woman for the first time.

'Why are you asking me?' She asked timidly, moving away for a second.

'You are the one he slighted, not me. I would be happy to snap his worthless neck and leave it at that. But I will do you the curtesy of deciding his fate.' I said squeezing harder on the mans face, his screams grew.

She looked conflicted, rightfully so, before shaking her head. Her long golden locks that was caked in dirt swayed slightly in the breeze. 'No, let him go. He's suffered enough.' Looking at 'Claude' finally noticing the resemblance I realised was the man's brother.

'I'm not inclined to agree but, okay.' I sighed begrudgingly, before putting him down and then looking into his eyes, beginning the compulsion. 'Against my better judgement, I am permitting you to live, if it were my choice, I wouldn't. I'd have a buffet instead.' I threatened baring my fangs and my eyes darkened again, I began to smell something after that, coming from the would-be late night snack. Coward that he is pissed himself out of fear. 'You will never hurt anyone like this again, you will forget what you saw here, you will go home. Reevaluate you're shitty life's decisions and decide whether or not you can become a better person and if not you will put a dagger through your heart. Do you understand?' I asked knowing his answer because of the compulsion. He nodded, real surprise. 'Then leave and never go near another woman again.' He ran as fast as he possibly could after that.

I then turned to the young woman, who looked, understandably freaked out. 'What just happened? Who are you? WHAT are you? How did you do those things and control him like that?' She rambled.

'Well, that's a very long story, my dear. But to answer, I am Harald Mikaelson, but you can call me Harry. I am a vampire and I believe the words you are looking for are thank you.' I smiled charmingly. 'Now my question is who are you?'

She looked conflicted, 'I'm not going to hurt you. I don't hurt innocent people. Just the bad ones.' I then pointed to Claude. She still looked scared and confused but told me her name.

'Alexia Branson.'

I smiled, 'A pleasure, Alexia.' I then walked over to pick up the supplies I had hidden when I came across her and those men. 'You wouldn't happen to know the way to town, would you?'

'You're 700 years old?' Alexia screamed in shock as we walked through the woods on the right way to the village that she is from as she tells me.

'Well 702, but who's counting?' I joked. 'Why, Don't believe me?'

'Can you blame me? You don't look a day over 25 and you're telling me you have lived longer than most all the trees in this forest?!'

'Well when you put it like that you make it sound like I'm old.' At this I feigned hurt. 'That hurts you know. Right here.' I then pointed at where my heart is.

She just stared at me weirdly and asked, 'How can anyone live that long and not age?'

'That would be the handy work of my 'darling mother' Esther. She was a Viking witch who had invented a spell which would effectively kill us and stop us from aging all together. She was very distraught after my youngest brother, Henrik was killed. In doing so, she made my siblings and I immortal with a few drawbacks of course. Without drinking blood regularly we would begin to lose all bodily function. The sun would burn our skin if not for these rings. We cannot enter someone's home without permission and we are all 'allergic' to a flower called vervain. Our emotions are so heightened that love, joy, sadness and hatred can become so overwhelming that we are able to turn our emotions off completely and become monsters.' I explained, remembering the one time I turned my emotions off... never again.

Alexia looked surprised at this, 'not everything is sunshine and rainbows, Alexia. Sure we live forever, we can run faster than the eye can see, we are stronger than a hundred men and our blood can turn others and have healing properties. We have senses that are almost unparalleled. But everything has its price.' I saw we were coming upon the village and turned to my blond haired companion. 'This is it, where I leave you.' I smiled kindly. 'What will you do now?' I asked.

'I don't know, I doubt I can stay here much longer. Eventually they will find out about Claude and link it back to me.' I could tell she was almost crying and that made me feel like shit. 'He was the lords son so they will probably try to have me hanged when they find out.'

'Is there anything I can do? I could make you forget if you want. Forget this place and leave to build a new life for yourself.' I offered.

'No, I'd prefer knowing about you and other vampires, you saved my life and for that I owe you.' She then got a look of realisation on her face. 'You said you were able people didn't you? Into vampires.' I didn't like this. 'You said that vampires were immortal, that they were fast and strong, that they could make others do what they want them to.' She asked hopefully.

'Yes, but it's not always that easy. Regular vampires can be killed with a wooden stake through the heart. Or having the heart ripped out altogether or beheaded. Being burned will work as well. You cannot go out into sunlight without a daylight ring. You will need to feed on blood regularly. You will out live your loved ones. You cannot make that decision lightly, Alexia.' I tried to reason, but something tells me that when this woman makes her mind up there is little you can do to stop it, reminds me of Bekah.

'I'm not Harry, I have no one left to lose, my parents died years ago, I want to not only survive, but to live for once. I have never left this village and I hate here. The people are so content to live like this forever but I'm not. I want to see the world and have fun for once. To do it I want to be like you. A new beginning.'

'Alexia, nothing is without price. To be like me you will never be able to have a child. Until I find a witch to make a ring you will not be able to go out into the day. Your emotions will be so heightened that any type of loss may be too much to bare. Do you understand?' I asked.

She paused at that, for quite a while, but ultimately decided, 'yes.' I nodded and brought my fangs out to tear the flesh of my arm away to start bleeding.

'Drink.' I told her, and she placed her mouth over my hand to get a mouthful. The wound on her neck from the knife earlier began to heal. 'Are you absolutely sure about this? There is still time to change your mind.' She nodded resolutely, she wanted this. 'Then I'm sorry about this.' She looked confused before I grabbed the sides of her head and broke her neck. Quick and painless. Though she'll have a hell of a headache.

I placed her comfortably on the ground and sat on a tree stump, waiting for her to wake up. This bit always was anxious for me, never quite sure how long it would take. For now I just wait for my new friend to come out for her new life.

Hopefully we'll become good friends. She seems like a fun person, when she comes out of her shell.

2009 A.D.

'Mystic falls here we come.' My best friend Lexi smiled from the passenger side of my car as we drove about 40 mph over the speed limit. Her hair flying in the warm breeze. What's the worst that could happen? We crash and die? Please.

'Are you sure he doesn't know we're coming?' I teased knowing she could very rarely keep a secret.

'Who do you take me for? I can't believe you would think I would spoil his surprise birthday party. You only turn 162 once after all.'

'You only turn any age once. Besides as long as it's not a repeat of your 162nd we'll be better off.' I laughed.

'I apologised, didn't I?' She seethed childishly. Thank god Rebekah wasn't here or else Mystic falls might not survive their kind of 'fun night'.

'Sorry still doesn't cut it, i lost an arm.' I smiled

'It was reattached wasn't it?' She laughed as I joined. Right before speeding even more. Stefan Salvatore was in for a shock let me tell you.

And done. What do you think, I had been planning for Harry, Lexi and Stefan to be friends since the beginning as a Segway into the present so I hope you enjoy. Still continue to comment on pairing ideas but I expectsomepeopledon't read this considering that I'mstillgetting requests for Damon. Anyway, I was wondering, why is the Elijah and Elena pairing so popular? As far as Iremember they had barely spoken after season 2. And that was him trying to kill and kidnap her. Always wondered. Well, anywayI will see you next time.
