When Lizzy is at school, she has to fight hard to concentrate on her lessons, something which the new teachers don't help. They all look like if they weren't paid to be here, they wouldn't be. Almost nobody pays attention to the lessons. Lizzy has to eat home cooked rice with beans or noodles pretty much every day for lunch, because she can't afford anything else, which leaves her sitting alone in the cafeteria every day. Alone and exhausted. She gets a few texts from Kylie and Savanna wanting updates. She misses her friends so much. She really hadn't expected to bond with them as much as she did, and wishes there was a way to still get to see them every day and live with Carla. She really wants to talk to them, and considers replying, but in the end decides not to, because of how much it will cost.
In the evenings, Lita now refuses to eat anything that isn't noodles cooked the way the Wagners cooked them for her. Carla tries to get her to eat a few things, but Lita throws a tantrum, grabs the barbie Ellie gave her, and locks herself up in the bathroom every time. After the bedroom incident, she carries the barbie everywhere, including school. Every day she asks Lizzy if they can go home now. She says that she wants her old room back, her toys, her Mommy and Daddy. Lizzy stops trying to correct her otherwise.
