Day 7 -Lizzy

On the seventh night of their stay with their mom, Lizzy hears sounds coming from the living room. Everyone is asleep -or supposed to be, so she gets up and goes to investigate. What she finds is her brother on the kitchen table, crying.

She rushes over to him and sits down on the opposite chair. "Juan, hey, what's wrong buddy? Did you have another nightmare?"

Juan shakes his head.

"What is it then? What's wrong?" she asks as she rubs his back.

He looks up at her, tears in his eyes. "Does it matter?"

"Of course it matters!" she says. "I care about you!"

"Do you really?"

"How can you even say that, Juan!? You know all I want is for you guys to be happy."

"No, you don't," he says.

"What!?" Lizzy's eyes go wide. "What are you saying? Everything that I do is for you guys! I'm doing this for you!"

"No, you're not. You're doing it for you," he tells her.

Lizzy is left speechless for a moment.

"Okay then tell me! Tell me what to do, tell me what you want!" she begs.

He looks straight at her, and his voice cracks when he speaks.

"To go home."
