Chapter 32: Bleeding Heart
"Oh, I'm ready to end this as much as you are, dude," Theo said to Reagan, standing up. He felt his father's hand on his shoulder. He knew that Dad didn't want him to do anything stupid, but he was willing to if it meant protecting his friends and family.
Rudy held Alya tightly as he glared daggers at the criminal, "I'll say it again, Reagan. Stay the fuck away from my angel! I'm warning you!" He snarled.
Reagan just chuckled, "Don't you understand, Rudy? We have unfinished business from last year. I've got to complete it to completely get back at you."
"I thought I wasn't a concern to you anymore! Why do you insist on still trying to fuck with me?!"
"While it's true that I have no use to screw you... that doesn't mean I don't have an urge to screw with your daughter. I actually plan on rebuilding my empire that you destroyed years ago, and she's the perfect one to help me start..."
Alya buried her face in her father's sweater, not wanting to pay attention to this villain's perverted plans. And it only made Rudy angrier, "I promise you, Reagan. Put a hand on her, and I'll shot your dick off like I did that asshole over there!" He gestured to Gabe's still body.
"Enjoy being free while you can." Bill spoke up, "But the cops are coming up here, and they're gonna haul your ass right back into maximum prison."
Reagan grinned, "Oh... you mean the two officers who followed you up here." He then pulled out his phone, punched in some commands, before tossing it to Albert, who caught it, "I put them out of commission... couldn't have them interfering."
The guys gathered around to see just what he was talking about and were horrified. The officers who were going to help them... were dead. Slash marks covered their entire bodies. All they could do was glare at the evil man, who sneered in return.
"You, man, are an NCA?" Russell commented.
"NCA?" Reagan raised an eyebrow.
"No Class Asshole..."
Rudy grinned a little, "For once, I agree with you, Shrimp. He surely is an asshole with no class. In fact, he also has NCE. No Class Ever!"
The men burst out into laughter for that one, especially considering that those three words were what sent Rudy into a violent rage against Russell many years ago. It was nice and rather amusing to see the rich man find humor in that insult after so long.
Reagan, however, wasn't laughing, "Oh, joke all you fools want. But you're gonna be laughing on the other side of your heads once I'm done with you all."
"You're the one who's gonna be done alright, Reagan!"
Who said that?
Before anybody could react, another person walked up towards the criminal. It was... Arnie. He had woken up. And he was mad, "You've seriously gone off the deep end, man. Just give it up and turn yourself in." He said, "All of this stuff ain't worth the satisfaction of victory."
"It's completely worth it!" Reagan shot back, "These bastards have gotten away with too much! Besides, you're one to talk, considering you've tried to help me."
"I was blinded by a desire for revenge on something that was honestly my own fault back in the day." Arnie retorted, "Same for the other guys. And it's true for you too! But you're too damn stubborn to admit it. If you could just stop for the moment and think about everything, you'll see that you're only making problems that you caused even worse."
There was a silence for a few moments. Was what Arnie said actually getting through to Reagan? Was the villain actually thinking about how his actions have impacted everything and everyone?
After those tense moments, Reagan grabbed the former pool shark by the shirt collar and pulled him close enough to where their faces were inches apart, "I do know one thing... you're making your current situation worse... by daring to even try and tell me what I want and what I desire." He growled in a dark tone, "I know what I want... and I want power... I want to stand above everyone... and I want dominance... to squash the insects to oppose me."
He then brought his knife up to Arnie's face, "And I think it's high time I start getting rid of the first insect."
"Wait! Don't-"
Before the other man could even finish his sentence, his throat was suddenly now pooling blood. He gargled in pain... before going limp. Reagan dropped him as if he was trash, "Never trust someone who can easily screw you over..." Was all he said.
"NO! Arnie!" Theo shouted. He felt his heart pounding slightly. Arnie may have been one of the reasons they were in this chaos, but he was willing to make up for his part and said he would turn himself in.
And now he couldn't do that...
The boy looked up at Reagan, who swiped a bit of the blood on the knife off, licking it from his fingers. That moment alone was enough to anger him. This... this monster was going too far, "See?! That's what Arnie was talking about! You're doing all of this for such petty reasons! If someone doesn't agree with you, they have to die?!"
"It's not as simple as that. He just dared to question my obvious authority." The criminal shrugged.
"I see now..." Albert spoke, "You just can't take any sort of negativity or criticism. You can't handle defeat or anything bad happening to you. So you just try to fill the void. You just try to find some sort of satisfaction in your life. Only problem is, you're going about it all the wrong ways..."
Reagan tightened the grip on his knife, "Don't try to stand there and shrink me, Albert!"
"That's literally my job. I can see that you struggle with something deep down. Talk to me, Reagan. What's bothering you?"
"NOTHING IS BOTHERING ME! I am conducting myself just fine!"
"Oh! And I have something else to add!" Theo added, backing his father up, "We all hate when negative things happen. But that's life, sir. Life is always gonna throw stuff at you. But the important thing is to keep going and keep your head up. If you want to have positive mental health, that's all well and good, but you're never gonna achieve the way you have. By destroying people's lives."
The more the Robertson duo spoke, the angrier Reagan seemed to get.
"Listen. It's not too late to get help..." Albert added, "You may be a heartless criminal, but there are some prisons that offer therapy. I can tell that something must have happened in your life to make you the way you are. Even criminals can have a backstory."
"Don't tell me you're trying to sympathize with the bastard..." Rudy facepalmed.
The large man turned to his friend, "No. I'm just trying something that'll hopefully help us all." He whispered, before turning back towards Reagan, "There's gotta be a reason you do the things you do. But you're too afraid to admit it."
"I... I don't have to explain myself to you!" The villain growled, "Stop trying to pry into my business!"
"Maybe he doesn't have a reason, Dad." Theo shrugged, "Maybe he's just a sore loser who can't handle it when we're right and he's wrong."
...
...
...
"FUCK YOU!"
It was times like this where Theo wished he would've kept his mouth shut, even if what he said was justified. Because as soon as he said that, Reagan charged straight for him at a full force rage. The poor boy was just only just barely able to dodge out of the way, as he tripped and fell hard on the floor, once again on his injured hand. Everyone else moved out of the way too, but the villain attempted to charge again, only for Albert to grab him from behind and hold him up high.
"It's still not too late to give up." The large man said.
Reagan in response jammed his foot into Albert's stomach, to which he let go of him. By now, the usually calm and collected criminal has lost all of his patience, and it was replaced with bloodlust vengeance. Bill, Russell, Bucky, and Mush attempted to tackle him from behind, but he could sense it, and moved at a crazy speed, making them collide with one another.
Harold made a grab at him, attempting to grab his knife, only for Reagan to punch him in the head hard, "You're no match for me, weird one." He snarked with a crazed smile.
"Oh yeah. Wait 'til I do something to ya for what you did to my son!" The tall man shot back, rubbing his head.
"That boy is good as gone by now. He and your baby momma are gonna rot together in Hell!"
"You take that back!"
Harold tried to punch the man but missed as Reagan moved out of the way. The psychotic man set his gaze upon Donald, who held up his hands in defense, "I-I'm w-warning ya. Y-You don't wanna mess w-with me." He stuttered.
"You and what army, dumbass!" Reagan asked tauntingly. He made a surprise kick at Donald's legs, sending him to the ground, "I'm surprised you still even care about Rudy, considering that he screwed you over."
"M-Maybe. B-But he's my best friend and I forgive him."
"Forgive this!"
With that, Reagan pinned Donald to the ground and raised his knife, ready to stab the dimwitted man. But as he brought it down... it collided... with metal? Donald had shielded himself from the impact, so he was confused as to why it didn't hit.
"Stay away from my Dad!"
Looking up and hearing that voice, he saw that someone had jumped in front of him, "April?"
"Where did she come from?" Bucky asked.
Indeed, it was his oldest daughter, as she was holding a metal pipe in front of her, using it to block Reagan's blow. The preteen smiled at her father before focusing again on Reagan, who smirked, "You're really defending him, even though he's not your real father."
"He is my real father" April countered, "He made not have been the one who helped create me, but it doesn't matter if we're blood or not. We love each other. He's my Dad, and I'm his daughter."
As soon as she said that, she pulled the pipe back, before swinging it forward like a baseball bat, striking Reagan's hands hard enough to knock the knife away. The weapon skidded across the floor near Rudy and Alya, the former picking it up and hiding it in his pocket.
"Are you okay, Dad?" April asked Donald as she kneeled down beside him.
"Y-Yeah. I think so." He responded, rubbing his stomach from where he was stepped on, "What are you doing here?"
"I wanted to help too. So, I used Mom's phone to track Alya's dad's, and found you." The girl held up her pipe, "I also found this. Thought it might come in handy, and it did." She giggled.
Donald chuckled himself as he pulled her in for a hug, "Thanks, baby. You're tough just like your Momma."
What to two didn't notice as they embraced was that Reagan was sneaking up behind them, prepared to strike again... but Rudy did. Acting quickly, the rich man jumped up and grabbed the criminal from behind, and tried to pull him back.
"Still trying to fight me, Rudolph?" He asked with a chuckle, "You're so foolish."
Before Rudy could react, Reagan broke away from his grasp and whipped around with a punch straight at his face. The other man crouched down in pain, just as Reagan sent more punches. Alya winced every time a fist collided. She wanted to help her father but didn't know how. The other guys attempted to help their friend as well, but Reagan pulled another surprise attack on them. He pulled something from his pocket and pressed a button, sending something that caused them to fall to the floor in pain. Theo narrowly dodged it.
Upon closer inspection, Alya could see that it was a taser.
"Another thing I picked up from the police." Reagan grinned, sending another punch to Rudy. By now, he had his enemy pinned to the ground, face bruised, and his nose pooling blood, "Looks like I finally gain a win above you, Rudolph."
"Go fuck yourself..." Rudy spat, coughing.
"Actually, I'd prefer to fuck your daughter instead. Interested in becoming a grandpa real young?"
"Shut the fuck up!"
"Hey, Mr. Reagan!"
Both men looked up to see Alya approaching them, a determined yet nervous look on her face, "You want to take me so badly?" She asked, "Then you can. Just please stop hurting my Daddy. He's had enough."
"Alya, what are you doing?" Rudy asked.
Reagan smirked, "Honestly, I don't think your Daddy has had enough. Don't you see that he's done so much bad shit? You deserve better than him as a father."
"He may not be a perfect father... but I still love him regardless of his flaws." Alya replied, "To me, he's the best."
"Is that so...?"
While they were talking, Theo saw another object on the floor. He didn't know what it was, but he knew that he had to help Alya. He had to admit that she was smart to sacrifice herself to Reagan, but he didn't want her to suffer just to keep her Dad safe.
He needed a distraction.
So, without really thinking, he grabbed the object and threw it, wincing when it collided with the back of Reagan's head. The wicked man froze for a moment, before getting off of Rudy and turning towards Theo, who stood up as well, "Your battle is with me, Reagan. Not Alya. Not Mr. Davis. Not my Dad. It's me you want, just like you said before."
"How right you are, since I was just about to get to you," Reagan replied, making a grab for the boy's shirt, holding him up. Theo attempted to escape, but even he knew he couldn't get away from that iron grip. So instead, he glared at the man, "Why don't you just give up already? I mean, the cops are already here to come get you."
"Because I don't stop until I complete what needs to be done." The criminal sneered, "Why don't you give up trying to get through to me? Why do you continue to be a hero when you continue to fail at it?"
With a small smile, Theo said his answer, "Because unlike you, I may be small on the outside... but I've got a big heart on the inside."
"Is that right? Well, let's remedy that. Shall we?"
Before the preteen could ask what he meant, he was flipped around as the man's arm wrapped around his throat, nearly choking him. By now, the other men had recovered, just to see the way Reagan was holding Theo.
"Let me show you all what happens when you have too big of a heart!" He announced.
What happened next would send everyone in the room spiraling. Reagan somehow pulled another knife from his sleeve, aimed it at Theo... before stabbing it brutally in the boy's chest, pushing deeper and deeper.
...
Theo gasped silently in pain. The men... were frozen with terror. Alya screamed with heartbreak. Albert... all he could do was stare.
As for Reagan, he smirked when he ripped the knife out, blood splattering on the floor. He dropped Theo, "See the kind of kid you raised, Fat Albert. He does indeed have a big heart... but it was also his downfall.
Albert could only stare at his son, clutching his chest and coughing up blood. He couldn't move. He wanted to, but he couldn't. Tears started to well up, just as he heard Alya's uncontrollable sobbing... but as soon as he heard the sadistic laugh Reagan let out.
... He suddenly saw red.
Standing up, the large man charged at the criminal, who was suddenly caught off guard, and grabbed him by the throat, "Hey, hey hey... Hell is where you're going, and where you'll stay..." He said, calmly yet with tranquil fury.
Not letting Reagan even get a word in, with all his might, Albert thrust him towards the window. It shattered on impact, as Reagan Sauls fell out... and to the ground below. After that... there was silence. Albert's friends stared at him in shock as he was breathing heavily.
"Holy shit, Albert!" Rudy exclaimed after a moment.
That was enough for him to shake his head in disbelief at what he just did, "Oh god... I don't know what came over me..." he said softly, "I didn't mean to throw him like that."
"It's okay..." Bill put a hand on his shoulder, "You were enraged."
"I still am... but..."
"Ib thinkb heb deserved itb." Mush spoke up.
"THEO!"
Everyone turned to see Alya cradling her friend in her arms, still crying. Albert approached his son while Rudy gently pulled his daughter away, much to her dismay, "NO! We can't let him die!" She cried.
"Shhh. Calm down, sweetie..." Rudy soothed, rubbing her back.
"Is he... dying...?" April asked, in tears herself as Donald hugged her.
"Son..." Albert spoke, stroking his flushed face.
Theo looked up weakly at his father, "D-D-Dad... I..." He coughed up more blood.
"Don't speak, son. You're gonna be okay..."
"I can try and stop the bleeding." Bill offered, kneeling down beside them, "Just enough before they can get him to the ER."
"Thanks, Bill." Albert smiled at his friend, before looking back at Theo, who seemed to be falling unconscious from all the blood loss. To be honest, he wasn't sure how the child was going to survive this severe of an injury. It was like his nightmare from weeks ago was coming true... in a worse way than before. He failed to keep one of his children from harm, and now he was on the brink of death.
However, he couldn't lose hope yet. He quickly checked Theo's pulse. It was a weak one, but a pulse nonetheless. It was only a matter of time when they could get him to the hospital. He laid a kiss upon Theo's head, just as the boy passed out.
"Hey, hey, hey. You'll be okay. We'll see you when you wake up..."
Well, there you go. Reagan is once again defeated, thanks to Albert. But it came at a heavy price. Arnie is dead, and now Theo might be on the brink of death too. Poor kid, he sure went through a lot, but still stayed strong despite all that. The girls also get some action too, so shoutout to them. Next chapter, we'll catch up with everyone else, and find out Reagan's possible fate, and Alya will learn something from her parents.
Until then, I hope you liked this chapter. I'll see you guys later. And as always, don't forget to review, please. Thank you.
